Review Delhicious Cuisine - Ivanhoe

Richard Farr
This is a great little restaurant, especially for coeliacs as it's certified by Coeliac Australia. We had the pork, goat and eggplant curries, which were all tasty and the pork especially good. Best selection of gluten free beers I've seen at a small place. Gnocchi wasn't too good though, not sure why primarily Indian place had Gnocchi actually. Desert was nice, would recommend the brownie. Staff are friendly and very attentive - almost too attentive! Overall a good experience and we'll look forward to our next visit!

The only restaurant in Melbourne with gluten free. Offers items off the menu as well like gluten free samosa , varieties of Kulfies , one of my favorite is eggplant smoked and citrus gives u a tangy flavor, can't imagine gluten free garlic naan :) is possible... Well done mate ,we are fortunate to have this in Melbourne way to go Delhicious cheers.

Best mix of indian meets aussie cuisine for coeliacs I have ever had. Great staff and filling meals and good atmosphere. Would definitely recommend to anyone coeliac or not as the food is really really good. To the point that my friend literally licked the butterscotch sauce from the sticky date pudding off the plate when they were done!

It's very hard to find good gluten free naan bread but Delhicious absolutely nail it. Would return almost just for the naan. However their mains are just as good too. The butter chicken was especially good too, better than the lamb. Prices are pretty reasonable especially for the decent portion sizes. Staff were friendly and helpful - hopefully the other reviews mentioning poor working conditions were incorrect or the problems resolved. Would return again!

Fantastic food, extremely friendly staff. The chef himself was beyond kind to us! Was a joy to be able to eat gluten-free, without fear of contamination, with my father who has celiac disease. Highly recommended, and it's just a quick drive from central Melbourne!

Very friendly staff and great food. Also have gluten free naan which is pretty hard to find.

Beautiful gluten free food. Really is delicious. The management & staff are welcoming & committed to providing quality food. Even those not on a gluten free diet will find a meal here equally enjoyable. Also very reasonably priced. I will return often.

Friendly local restaurant. We went for dinner and they were very accommodating with dairy free (as well as everything being gluten free). The atmosphere was nice and staff were very attentive and helpful. The chocolate brownie with ganache is decadent and delicious. Definitely worth stopping by (park in the street adjacent if there's no parking on the main road).

This was the first 100% gluten free restaurant myself and my coeliac girlfriend discovered when trying to find places for her to eat. We live all the way in Newcastle NSW and travelled to Melbourne specifically to go to this restaurant. The food was phenomenal! We had a selection of curry, naan, and dips, so full of flavour and exactly the authentic Indian we’d been looking for. The staff were extremely friendly and we had a great conversation while waiting for our food. Well worth the trip and we’ll be back very soon!

Lovely surprise to find an Indian restaurant that packs the spices into the food they serve so beautifully.
Wonderful food served by happy waiters and the chef will make an appearance to make sure you enjoyed his cooking.
Very busy on the tail end of a week.
We weren’t going to have sweets but had been told about a FRUIT cake that was supposed to be fantastic.
Our table of 5 expected a fruit cake but what we received was a light sponge with fruits and cream - great contrast to our dinner. WOW you are clever and we look forward to another visit.
*see the photos

Super friendly staff and lovely atmosphere. Little bit small to bring kids but a lot of people were getting a take away. The service was bit slow but food was delicious so it was worse waiting for that.

Lock this little gem in when you’re around the Ivanhoe area. Fresh & tasteful Curry’s. The butter Chicken always a hit with the kids (and me) but you can’t go past the king prawn curry dish. The only downside, not enough seating to guarantee a eat in so make sure you book.

I adore this place. Friendly staff, amazing food, cozy atmosphere. I really appreciate the waves they are making in the industry for people with coeliac disease too! My only thought for how this place could improve is to make their curry/dinner options available for lunch as well, it would be lovely to be able to drop by after work to grab a curry take away for dinner, as opposed to coming back out after 5pm :)

It is hard to find a restaurant which you can feel safe that there is no gluten cross contamination. This place was awesome. Booked a table for 2 on the wettest day of the year with floods in Melbourne. One of us was delayed by over an hour and they held our booking and the person waiting welcome. The plates of food were generous and tasty, and the gluten free naan bread was AMAZING! Book for this restaurant as it was busy.

4.0

I was enticed here by the glowing reviews and the buoyant rating. I love Indian now and again and Delhicious sounded well worth exploring for something a little different. And, so it was.

I scored a lovely greeting on my arrival for lunch. I quickly settled on a lunch combo. Two meat, - butter chicken and goat - rice, raita and salad. I also ordered a butter naan. This is a cleverly composed lunch combo. The food is great. The size is spot on. Tastes bang on too. Pretty much a perfect lunch of this type.

Service was lovely throughout as well. I look forward to a dinner here in future.

so incredibly lucky to be living in a country that has the very first 100% gluten free accredited by coeliac Australia, Indian and modern cuisine restaurant 😍 i am absolutely speechless on how amazing this place is! Chef Raman is the most amazing head chef / owner of a restaurant i have ever met! he will come and speak to you individually and interact with all customers whilst dining in his restaurant plus doing 100 other things! 🙌🏼 would recommend this DELHICIOUS place to anyone who loves Indian food or just for a fun night out 😍 quick service and presentation of food is beautiful! 🤗 naan bread and butter chicken were definitely the faves!

Forget the fact that Delhicious is Australia’s first 100% Gluten-Free restaurant accredited by Coeliac Australia. The real reason you want to dine here is because the food is friggen delicious.

Who doesn't like a good Indian? Staff extremely helpful and friendly. I personally love the touch a restaurant gives when the chef comes out and speaks to you to hear some honest feedback. Keep it up. Delicious food.

Delhicious by name and delicious by nature! We experienced a "Christmas in July" night at Delhicious. We had a lamb and Tandoor platter and garlic naan with dips for starters. Mains was a selection of curries (paneer, goat, chickpea and butter chicken) with three different kinds of rice. Dessert was sticky date or brownie. All the food was beautifully presented and full of flavour. All my non coeliac companions were surprised as to how good the good was even though it was gluten free. We will be back.

Last night was the second time dining at Delhicious and we will definitely be back again as the food it just that, DELICIOUS! Everything was cooked to perfection, goat curry, lamb cutlets, chicken tandoori, and our favourite, the delightful butter chicken! We also ordered the gnocchi and were not disappointed. No exaggeration, they were little fluffy clouds coated in the mouth-watering butter chicken sauce 😍 Do your taste buds a favour and eat here!

A menu that looks simple but consists of delicious, well cooked food. We are not celiac but we gave this place a go as we have seen the place crawling with people at night and during the day.

The place has a warm, clean, cosy, welcoming feel to it. A place that I would go alone, with a friend or with the family, even though they are limited by space.

We ordered the vegetarian meal with two curries and a salad (that has chickpeas and beetroot). Although we did not expect much (from just gazing at the menu), the food that came out was, as their name suggests, delicious! In addition, we did not feel bloaty or as if we have overeaten, as we usually do after an Indian meal.

The vegetarian curries were surprisingly spicy as curries are usually 'toned down' to accommodate for those who can tolerate the lower end of the scale.

As for drinks, an ice coffee (with ice cream!) was ordered, which went well with the food.

Will definitely return again in the near future to try the other items on the menu! Can't wait!

Love, love, love this place. I had lost all hope of finding a good Indian restaurant when I found Delhicious. Bonus - all is gluten-free. If you love Indian food - go, if you are gluten-free or celiac - go, if you are not gluten-free or celiac - go, if you have never had Indian food before - go, if you hate Indian food - definitely go. Try this place you will not regret it.
Great food, healthy cooking, and amazing service staff. Not to be missed.

Absolutely beautiful! As a coeliac, this place is heaven and I cannot be more amazed by the quality and standard of the food. Further, the fact that I'm able to comfortably eat here with such ease is the best reprieve of all. I really am grateful for this business opening!

I've been here for breakfast and lunch; each time the food was superb and the ambiance nice. The owners are really friendly and the customer service exceptional. I'm determined to work my way through the menu. Certified GF and as someone on low FODMAP diet I had no problems ordering and was spoit for choice, which is a rarity.

Last night five of us went to this restaurant for dinner. For the gluten free people of the party, the food was good. We did encounter a few problems though. The first thing was that we had a table near the bar area. There was a chap sitting at the bar (I'm not sure if he was waiting for dinner, or take away - not sure if they have that!). Having a chair at the table and the bar chair behind meant that both diners couldn't fit. Luckily the chap moved. One of our party is vegetarian. There were two suggestions on the menu that she could have chosen. This was the first problem. The main vegetarian dish wasn't available as it had sold out. Our friend ordered the vegetarian pizza, which she said was tasty, but not very big, more of an entree size. It also came out 15 minutes before the rest of the mains came out. The next was that the wine that we'd ordered had also sold out, though this was replaced with a nice wine. We started with a shared platter of naan with an extra order of more naan. The second lot of naan arrived after we'd finished the dips. Timing wasn't their best thing last night. It might have been due to a large table also, being there, but that didn't help us. The last thing was that I'd ordered the goat curry. This was very tasty, but I must have had the last serve of it as it consisted of mostly bones. This was a pity as the sauce was very tasty. The rest of the food was very tasty and lived up to what has been written about it. I guess I was just unfortunate. The best thing about the night was that my gluten intolerant friends enjoyed some of the treats that they haven't been able to for quite a while.

Being coeliac I have struggled to find an Indian restaurant that will cater for me.. not any more! 100% gluten free. Everything! EVERYTHING! The service was amazing, the food was amazing and the chef even came out to check if all the diners were enjoying their food. Brilliant!

With their new Coeliac Society Accreditation and 100% gluten free kitchen, I couldn’t think of a better place for Brody and me to spend date night than Delhicious. Delhicious in Ivanhoe serves up Modern Indian food with a twist. The twist, of course, is that everything served is entirely gluten free. Located at 91 Upper Heidelberg Road, this vibrant and bright restaurant is a quaint place for dinner and drinks.

As a Celiac I haven't been able to eat naan bread in over 5 years. This places naan bread almost made me cry it was so amazing! The chef has perfected it over a few years and 18 different types of GF flour combinations. 100% gluten free menu with great choices! The curries are indescribable! It's an absolute art. The patron and his team are over friendly and the selection of gluten free beers offer a great variety! For all non celiacs and celiacs alike, I strongly recommend this gem!!!

Went for dinner great food and friendly staff you can relax knowing all the food is gluten free even have gluten free beer totally recommend we are looking forward to trying the breakfast

The food was amazing and service excellent, will definitely be coming back for more of the pork and potatoes! It was so refreshing to go to a restaurant who can not only cater for our food intolerances (gluten, egg and dairy) but that there are quite a few delicious options, not just a couple.

New to Ivanhoe, we decided to give this gluten free Indian a go for takeaway. Glad we did as it is delicious! We tried several things to really check it out - tandoori chicken pizza and tandoori lamb cutlets for entrée, and butter chicken and blah blah lamb cutlets with naan and kashmiri pulao for main. Everything was nicely done and not a cheap oily sauce in sight! Tandoori pizza was my favorite and so tasty for gluten free, although a little small for the price. Likewise the mains are on your pricier end of the Indian takeaway budget but you get what you pay for here! Next time we'll try it for a sit down dinner, they also do an Indian inspired/normal breakfast.

Remember how it was, going to a restaurant before gluten was an issue and you could choose from anything on the menu; well Delhicious has that sorted! A full GF menu. No fear of accidental glutening no feeling like a wanker asking for a GF meal, no being forced to choose one of 3 salads. The staff were friendly and even the beer range is GF. A must for any coeliac or gluten intolerant.
