We ventured out to a restaurant for the first time since the COVID 19 restrictions. VaTutto in Ivanhoe is local for us. The menu is great and the quality of the food has always been consistently good.
We started with the prawn gyoza followed by the steamed Barramundi and grilled tuna. My partner could not resist the pavlova which looked and tasted fantastic. It just like she had in the past.
Although we had not been to Va Tutto for quite some time, the food and the service were excellent and consistent with that experienced previously.
Their scotch fillet was one of the best pieces of meat that I have ever eaten.
We loved our meal here! The food was tasty, the prices reasonable and the dessert was to die for!!! Definitely will be back!

The risotto is always a dish that rates a restaurant -the risotto here was excellent.

Very good meals, portion sizes fine, meat and fish flavours excellent, gluten-free bread offered. Only reservation - the veg on both meals had been allowed to lose heat while the grilled fish or lamb shank was finishing the cooking process. Excellent wines.
Nicely presented food, with good flavour. A little overpriced but service was good.
Not too many vegan options (about 3), so few is rare for a restaurant in the North, but still accommodating and knowledgeable.
Nice layout and the non-vegan food looked incredible. An interesting menu comprising an asian influence with some Italian classics.
Underrated, brilliant local Italian. Asian offerings make it even more appealing. Duck done 3 ways is a standout as is the lasagna. The meatballs are great too. The cheesecake dessert is to die for. Relaxed bistro or fancier restaurant sections.

Wow, 5 stars for this Restaurant! The Food and Staff here are amazing. I ordered the fish and some small sides to accompany my dish and all were so delicious and flavorsome! The staff were so attentive with our drinks and food orders and made sure our table was always top priority. Wanted to add an extra half star but am not able. Last night we dined at Va Tutto for the 4th or 5th time. Each time our food has been excellent in both its quality and its presentation. It is clear that Va Tutto sources their food supplies from great suppliers and the result is on the plate as consistently delicious and very well prepared. Staff are efficient and not at all intrusive and considering the ambience and general care of food preparation it is one of my very favourite places for good food in Ivanhoe.

Nice place, the atmosphere was relaxed and warm. The service was not bad, the head waitress was fantastic but some of the other staff seemed overwhelmed by a busy night. They also Need eye contact with their customers. Trying to get their attention was tough at times.
The food for the most part was good if nothing really memorable. Of the 4 dishes and 3 entrees - all were good except the salmon wasn’t cooked properly and one of us felt quite sick afterwards. It didn’t agree with their palette.
Still a good evening and our guests from overseas enjoyed the meal and restaurant. I wouldn’t rave but solid place.
The steak was cooked to how I asked - medium rare. It was tender and the black bean sauce had a nice punch to it. Good range of food on offer and service was pretty good too.

Was here for a farewell dinner for work. I arrived early haha the rest of work arrived 30mins late to the booking time but they were still very accomodating. Although we were a table of more than people, we didn't have to have a set menu which was very nice of them.
Decor:
Appropriate and up to date. Restaurant doesn't look dated. It looks modern and clean. Ambiance is great.
Service:
The staff were very attentive. We didn't have entrees, but all of our food )table of about 15) pretty came at the same time.
Food:
The menu is extensive, so there is plenty to chose from. The only wait staff has a good knowledge of food and portion sizes so if your not sure best to ask them.
Portion size for mains and seperate sides are very generous.
We ordered a couple of sides to share...the salads simple, very fresh and packs on the right flavour. Roasted baby carrots was so yummy, I could have eaten the whole side serving myself. Can't forget the side of chips, haha can't do fine dinning without chips (the fat girl in me always want chips and I don't care if it's fine dinning). The sauce/dip that came with the chips are amazing!
Main I ordered the pork (forgot the exact name) but it was very enjoyable it was like two mains in one. The skin was crispy, meat was so tender and moist. Then I had a modern twist to sweet and sour pork. The batter was light and crispy, pork meat inside was moist. The sauce was flavourful it was a very pleasant toned down version of sweet and sour sauce in a good way. From the busy chewing and the table being quiet for a good 10-15 mins I could tell people were enjoying their meals.
Overall:
I would come back, try them for lunch and may be a busy night like a Friday or Saturday to see how their service holds.
It's a very pleasant experience, definitely will be coming back for more.

All our dishes were amazing from mains to desserts. All the staff were attentive without being over the top. My seafood pasta was pricey but more than half the bowl was delicious seafood. Have to return to try some of the other beautiful desserts. 👌🏼
Very attentive staff. I think we had 10 different people wait on us! Food was great, but the zucchini flowers still are not the standard of the superb RACV resort we had in Torquay. These were too full of deep fried batter. The place definitely has the right vibe as it was very full.
Really the only fine dinning restaurant in Ivanhoe. They have some wonderful gluten free options, the food is delicious and the service is spot on. Very enjoyable dinning experience.
Great place good food fresh produce. The oysters are fresh. Try them you won't be disappointed they are very good at what they do clean and service was very efficient.

Have had 2 Friday lunches in the past month and have loved both. A driven workplace with commitment to providing very good food at almost pub prices. It impresses me that they hit suburban price points given the obvious overheads they must carry. Delicious food - the lamb ribs are simply delicious. Yes service may feel a little stressed at times, but it is clear to see that they do try their best and that is all I need to be satisfied.
By chance I came across some reviews for Va Tutto and was absolutely astounded and saddened by people's belief that it is ok to single out staff and effectively bully them online. This is just not ok, and I'm sure that if this was in relation to any other industry or workplace, there would be a class action in that person's favour. Just because a forum exists for the hospitality industry does not make it ok to blatantly single out and defame a person. There are always two sides to every story, and you know what - we are all human!! Once again this app leaves me speechless at the lack of heart in our society, and the engrossed entitlement customers believe they possess these days. I dare say the people that write these things have never worked in the industry thus their lack of empathy. No one is perfect but Whinging online won't achieve much, just sort it out with the relative staff members in person and don't go back if you are not satisfied. Simple really. Public defamation is simply not ok.

I have been to Va Tutto for dinner and had an amazing dining experience . The quality of the food is outstanding , so fresh and delicious . There is a large selection of different meals in the menu that I am pretty sure will please everyone ! The service is excellent from the moment you walk in they make you feel like they couldn't do enough for you . Also not to mention that the dessert menu is to die for .
The open kitchen is very clean and the restaurant generally has a very nice feeling about it .
I would highly recommend Va Tutto I can't wait to find there again .
We will be back. This would have been a higher score if the experienced wait staff was assigned to our table. Confusion with the martini order and Food was amazing but not consistently hot on all dishes. One trio duck had a cold breast with hot dumpling and leg. We want to come back though and have a 5 score experience.
What a wonderful restaurant! The staff were so welcoming and attentive. And the food! Wow! The garlic bread was tasty, and the dumplings were fresh and delicious. I had the pumpkin ravioli, and I don't think I've ever had better. And the desserts! Phenomenal! I couldn't stop smiling. My sons and I shared the mandarine trifle plate and the lemon themed dessert plate. I'd have to say they were the best desserts I have ever had! So fresh and perfectly balanced. Divine!

I have written reviews about Va Tutto before and I am going to write another. I can't believe some of the negative comments. We have eaten at Va Tutto many times and just had lunch there today. It was a function, service was exceptional. In particular, I was regularly updated on when my dishes were going to arrive. I had the gnocchi and tapioca pudding. Was superb as always. In a busy restaurant things can get stressful. However I enjoy being a part of this hustle, bustle. If a wait staff doesn't smile at me, it's not because they are being rude. They are probably flat out!

Can't speak for the food prior to this as it's been about 10 years since I've been here, however this was a very nice experience. Attentive wait staff, excellent food and a very relaxed atmosphere.
I've been into the restaurant a few times before and it's always been good.
We popped in on a Tuesday after work at 7:30pm and ate in the bistro. I can't rate the place for a very busy night, but it was all good when we were there. Wouldn't hesitate to return.
Also, they seem to have extended to menu to include some Thai flavours fused with their Italian staples... A wonderful combination.
Fantastic dining. Bring back the lemon trio dessert 😍 Excellent service & great Italian pasta & pizza. Yummy. A classy dining experience. A good place to celebrate a special event or anniversary.
Great restaurant service fantastic the wine divine I highly recommend this restaurant. I had 3 ways duck and it was unbelievable perfect cocked and presentation tip top. Price... No cheap but at the end of the day you can not expect great food and cheap.

After looking over the extensive menu we asked if there was a set menu or degustation, not on the menu for the evening however with the help of Myrto she helped us put together shared entrees for myself and my husband. All of the dishes were very enjoyable, va tutto use reliable local suppliers for the freshest of ingredients ,the house bread is baked twice a day and items such and the nought are imported from Italy, Paul is the head chef and also the owner of Va Tutto and obviously has a passion for good quality and an eye for detail.
As for the service Myrto offered it added to another dimension of enjoyment to our evening and completed the night.
I look forward to dining again at va tutto.

We always love the Va Tutto Christmas lunch! We go every year we're able to! This year was just as good as always with their always-great selection of entree, main, and desserts to pick from (note: the Xmas lunch includes a small garlic pizza to start, an entree, a main, and a dessert). Despite the fact the place was packed with loud parties of families surrounding smaller tables of two (like us), the service was friendly, professional and attentive. The garlic pizza to start was classic and had a great crunchy crust. My fig, pomegranate & buffalo mozzarella salad was to die for!!! That is a MUST HAVE! Hubby's scallop & prawn sui-mai were plump and incredibly tasty - the ingredients were so chunky & fresh. Bold flavours made both our mains - a steak and asparagus risotto - rich and delicious. As if we didn't have enough food, we ordered a side of green beans & macadamia nuts -- which were so tasty! Then our desserts were a Christmas pudding and sticky date -- so decadently sweet! The only complaint we have is that our stomachs weren't big enough to finish everything!! We had to take our little carrot cake cupcakes home with us! Two-thumbs up again Va Tutto! See you next time!

Would definitely go back. We chose the set menu which consisted of 9 different entrees to start off with, and after that we got to choose a main from an extensive menu, followed by our choice of dessert!

Had my husband's and daughter's birthday and we chose the function menu and all our guests were blown away by the food, the proportion of food, the display of the food but most of all the flavour that each dish had. Cannot fault it at all. Great service from all the staff! Atmosphere in this place was very relaxed and has a nice feel to it. Friendly helpful staff. Cannot fault the food at all. All my guests said that they will be back. Fantastic quality and quantity of food thanks to Paulo, the chef, and his team and thank you to Merto and her team for the fantastic service and making us feel all welcomed!

Va Tutto has become a local favourite of mine and have had the pleasure of enjoying a wonderful dining experience on many occasions. However I was somewhat disappointed by the last visit there with my family, during which a waitress accidentally splilt a drink that unfortunately managed to go everywhere, including on our clothes. Accidents happen so it wasn't a big deal, but what bothered me was the way in which this poor waitress was treated by her fellow staff members afterwards-she was clearly very embarrassed and apologetic but a few snarky comments were sent in her direction. Further more, we weren't offered a complimentary drink which I thought, considering the circumstances was warranted, but it ultimately wasn't an overly important issue. On a more positive note, the food was absolutely delicious as per usual; it's just a massive shame that the sub standard service ultimately detracted from the overall dining experience.
EDIT: After not having dined here for a good year or so, I'm happy to say that I had a much better experience today. The food was just as good, if not better than last time, but more importantly the service was simply excellent. Kim, the waitress who served my table of 17, did a fabulous job of co - ordinating the other waiting staff (who were also fantastic) and personally attending to our every need. I cannot thank her enough for her professionalism and friendly attitude, both of which ensured that my birthday lunch was an enjoyable occasion for all of us.
After a long time, I finally returned to Va Tutto expecting a great meal. I was not disappointed! The service was impeccable, the wait staff was knowledgable and helpful and the kitchen was efficient. The food was hot and the flavour amazing. I had crab 3ways and though the curry was a bit hot for my taste, it was delicious. The duck was amazing! Colin's lamb was perfect. The panacotta just melted in my mouth. I can't wait to return as we had a great night.
Best food in the suburbs. Don't bother going into city for a great meal, this place will beat them. Large variety of food and the cocktails and coffees are great .
Excellent food. The spagetti marinara has a generous portion of seafood. The dumplings are also very good. The staff are friendly and they have a good wine selection. Yummy food!

After reading the abundant amount of reviews regarding va tutto I was keen to experience the restaurant myself.... On urban spoon the majority of reviews will be based on users with supposedly negative experiences and positive experiences should the norm for a great restaurant which leads to a bias skew in the user reviews. However as a user who has attended this restaurant and had such a wonderful time I am writing to quash the bad reviews and say the food was the best in Melbourne and myrto the manager was one of the nicest ladies me and my family have ever met. This restaurant is a must to eat and I will be returning many times.

Amazing. Va Tutto has been a local favourite of mine for a while now. Consistently amazing food, the wagyu beef dumplings, the prawn dumplings, the prawns in ginger and garlic and the steamed filled of barramundi are my faves! Va Tutto far exceeds expectations for a local suburban restaurant. Ivanhoe residents should consider themselves lucky to have this gem as their local. The staff are attentive, the maitre d is lovely and will always pop around for a chat and the chefs are guns! Will absolutely be back!

Lovely - great service. I have dined at Va Tutto on a number of occasions in the past 12 months and have always found the quality of food and the service to be excellent. Yes you will pay a premium for the food however the staff and chef earn every penny. My duck 4 ways was amazing and the seafood perfectly cooked. The colleagues I was with raved about the food and wine and we left happy and willing to return.
With so many other venues competing in the area this is the one I will always come back to.
Family Favourite. We have been to this restaurant countless times , and never have we had a bad experience. We cant go past our favourites each time, gyoza, ribs, steamed barramundi with asian greens, Seafood spaghetti (prepare to get your hands dirty!) , the list goes on....
The consistency, flavour, quality is all testament to the hardworking husband and wife owners who are always working at the restaurant. Keep up the good work!

I took some friends from out of town here and we all enjoyed it immensely. I loved the ambience and decor. I liked being able to see into the expansive and clean-looking kitchen where the staff looked busy but not stressed. The service was extremely attentive and the food was exquisite. We had some bread and a fig salad for entrees - the fig salad was absolutely melt-in-your-mouth divine. My friends had the barramundi and loved it. I got the pumpkin ravioli and couldn't stop raving about it for days. Next time, I'll make sure to leave room for dessert because the dessert menu looked great. I highly recommend this place for a fine dining experience.
One of the best Italian meals we have had in a long time with service to suit. We wandered in here tonight for dinner and whilst the menu feels somewhat confused with a mix between Italian and Asian with a huge amount to choose from each dish we had we couldn’t fault.
I highly recommend the Wagyu Dumplings and seafood marinara.
We had a family dinner for 4 people. The food as usual was fantastic - two of us had the seafood marinara and it was just as good as in the past, the rockling seafood special and the gnocchi was excellent. Entrees of lamb croquettes and tuna carpaccio was super. The serving crew was super efficient but over zealous. Twice during the meal they came to remove crockery when we were still eating and foods were still on the plates - I actually did ask if the kitchen was short of crockery. Apart from this we can’t fault the place and will be back.
