Had the most amazing feed here last night. The food was to die for. The veal stuffed olives are a must have. All our meals were perfect and delicious. The gnocchi were fluffy cushions and the linguine di mare was one of the best I've had by far. Full of flavour with plump seafood. With such an extensive menu and a wine list to match and excellent service with attention to detail we will definitely be back to savour more of what's on offer. Highly recommend.
I celebrated my birthday at L'Artigiano and we were provided with an intimate room for a small group which was warm with heating and a relaxed homely vibe. The staff were welcoming, accommodating and the food was exceptional with all guests happy with their meals - generous servings, aesthetically presented and absolutely delicious! We look forward to returning soon and highly recommend!
On Saturday night a group of our friends had a wonderful night of great food, lovely wines and great company at L'Artigano! Big Thank you to Nick & his staff for making it a wonderful night.....food was DELICIOUS and yes Nick...no one went home hungry!!! Highly recommend!
Service brilliant, food delicious and great wine. Highly recommended. Highlights were the beautiful risotto special with pumpkin and prosciutto and doghnut dessert with custard and chocolate.....yum yum!! Will be back again soon.

Our families celebrated my 40th birthday at L'Artigiano Ristorante Italiano last night and it was superb. The food was plentiful and absolutely delicious. All of our guests commented on how amazing the food was. The service was great as well. Thanks to Collin for all his help and to all the staff for a great night. Highly recommended!!!
There were six of us in the group and the service and food was delicious! Had antipasto and buffalo mozzarella was delicious and had the salmon for main. I will definitely go back

I'll make excuses for no photos right now - I was with a new group of people and frankly, didn't want to be 'that person' that snaps pics of everyones plates. We came here on a Sunday night and it was busy. A table of 12 in what is a reasonable sized restaurant. The cuisine is Italian / Mediterranean and with that comes a menu that has something for everyone. Sharing platters. Pizza. Great selection of entrees and mains. Pasta. And of course dessert that although we didn't order, I will return to test out their Affogato.
Everyone seemed to order something different and I chose the Vitello Con Gorgonzola which was cooked superbly. The portion size was generous and the flavours blended nicely together. Not overly rich for me.
I found the ambience quite charming and although a little noisy with the number of diners, there was a vibe casual dining enjoyment.
This restaurant does cater for kids and is wheelchair accessible however, I would recommend you let them know when booking.
Dietaries are catered for - just let them know.
Staff were fabulous. Very attentive and great knowledge of the entire menu. It is not BYO but you can be assured that the wine list is extensive and you can tailor something to your meal easily.
Carparking is pretty good but just watch the signs for how long you can park for.
I will definitely return - the Affogato has my name on it.
Considering we had large group on a very busy day, I was very impressed with the service. We all enjoyed our meals but I think the hit was the veal with Gorgonzola! We also tried the formaggi pizza, the polenta e funghi, gnocchi alla Gorgonzola, gnocchi alla calabrese. The whitebait didn’t have any flavour so I’d skip that. Dessert was delicious, we tried the Tiramisu, the Zeppole and the Torta Caprese. Yum! We will be back!
Beautiful atmosphere in a rustic venue. Whenever we think of good food and great service L'Artigiano always pops up in our mind as a first choice. We celebrate all our great occasions, anniversaries, birthdays, Valentines, or really just a nice evening out and good food and good wine celebration! All staff great and very much attentive, the chef is really a perfectionist with attention to detail for his yummy food creations. I think it's the best restaurant in Melbourne! Oh, and the music is really great....
I came here a couple of weeks ago with a friend that had been before, but my first time. I was surprised to find that it was completely packed out, even though it was a Wednesday night. It soon made sense. The food is superior quality and rivals any CBD fine dining, in my opinion. Staff are very welcoming and accommodated requests with ease. Service is warm without being pushy. It strikes me as a place that locals want to 'keep to themselves' but it looks like word is getting out fast.
What a nice surprise! We were a bit sceptical because of the lowish Zomato score but so glad we went. Cosy place, great service. Fabulous range of gluten-free options for my coeliac partner. All the food we ordered was fresh and tasty. The mushroom croquettes were amazing (and gluten free)! Will definitely be coming back.
I had dinner with my family there... the place is lovely cosy and has a great atmosphere.. the food was delicious and the dishes were pretty big . the prawns is a must try !!! And the pasta were amazing !!! Service really good warm and the welcoming

All our entrees and main meals were superb and the service from Nick & Anna was excellent.
Desserts were to died for😘and worth the calories.

The food is very impressive. Nothing boring or mediocre comes out of the kitchen here.
Plus the setting of the old Ivanhoe fire station does have a certain charm that you won’t find anywhere else.

It's a cosy restaurant with excellent service and even better food. The menu is inviting and has a vast array of comfort food classics. Being in a group I had the opportunity to try several dishes, and all were delicious. The beef ragu fettucine and the whole snapper (on the specials) were the standouts for me. The cocktails were delicious and also very well priced, which is always a bonus.
Happy to have this restaurant so close to home, looking forward to going back!

Great Suburban Italian eatery nestled in an old Fire Station in the Ivanhoe Shopping strip .
There nothing negative about this Establishment . The food was fabulous , the wine list very good , the cocktails great and the service was excellent .
It is the type of restaurant where you feel like a regular from your first visit , which is a real credit to the attentive staff and the home style meals . The decor is simple , understated but very comfortable and there is plenty of street parking
We enjoyed calamari , pork belly , steak , sardines, gnocchi , pizza & veal for our entrees and mains . The deserts were excellent and the coffee was the same
We will be going back to work our way through the menu

Summer doesn't get better than the beef carpaccio with a Tuscan Sunset cocktail at L'Artigianno Ivanhoe! The cocktail is refreshing and the carpaccio, with it's lightly acidic aioli is a taste of heaven on earth!!
Beautiful authentic Italian food paired with quality service. New owner/management has done a great job revamping the place with a great new menu! Would definitely go back. Recommend to anyone who is after authentic Italian with clean flavours.

Yum! We had the Margarita Pizza and fettuccine beef ragu! I thought the pasta was nice. But the pizza is in the next level pizza. Its a tiny bit pricer than others. But dont worry about the dollar or 2. That margarita was amazing. The pase was perfect! Basil wasnt burnt it was really good! Jeez i sound like a critic. And i hate that! I couldnt fault the food. And traditional italian beers there too!

I stumbled across this restaurant whilst walking to Safeway and I cannot say enough how much I love this place!
This old fire station building has been converted into a very cleverly thought out restaurant setting with accents of Italian inspiration throughout.
Staff were absolutely attentive to every detail and super friendly!
The meals we ordered were mouth-wateringly delicious - Affettato Misto, Linguine Di Mare & Nduja Pizza.
Each meal was presently extremely well and appropriately portioned.
Most importantly everything tasted just as good as it looked leaving you wanting more! And that's what we did - topping off what was already so incredibly satisfying we opted for the dessert Tasting Plate consisting of Sicilian Cannoli, Tiramisu & Bombola.
Not one to shy away from a good dessert, these insanely scrumptious treats were simply divine!
What really topped the overall night was that I accidentally spilt my wine glass which sprayed the wall and pillows where I was sitting in red wine. Not only were staff un-phased by my clumsiness, my wine glass was refilled for me to continue enjoying what was an already faultless experience!
I cannot wait to revisit this restaurant!

Saturday lunch at L'Artigiano was a pleasant affair.
L'Artigiano is in the old fire station in the Ivanhoe strip, next door to a funeral parlour (!) and is light and airy and a pleasant space in which to lunch. The menu is solidly Italian with starters, entrees, pasta, mains, pizza and dolce options. Service was excellent with an attentive waiter ensuring we were well looked after.
The lightly battered zuchini flowers stuffed with ricotta proved a tasty starter, and the wine list was able to cover three different drinking selections by the glass. (The significant other's ambitions to drink a bottle came to naught when it became apparent no one else was keen on Chardonnay...)
The Trough is sometimes sceptical when people tell him they like their food. What if they are just being polite? What does not lie is the sight of a bone and plate scrubbed clean of lamb shank on carrot puree by a shank devotee. This was shanking without the prison violence overlay!
Other dishes included Veal Cotaletta with a fennel salad, tagliatelle w beef ragu (ending as another gleaming plate) and pumpkin risotto with Crystal Bay prawns.
The risotto was very good, but rich, and a generous serve meant some washing up would be required.
The Trough's veal was a bit disappointing. The salad did not cut through with enough acidity and the veal was nicely crumbed but seemed a bit heavy and salt had been used liberally.
The Trough does not like cooking that leans heavily on saltjng food. It is unhealthy. The Trough thinks that if individual diners want to poison themselves they can use a salt shaker.
Rant over, the Trough on the other hand was very impressed with the Rocket, pear and walnut salad that came with shaved parmesan as a side order. The flavours and balance are fantastic and the Trough would rank it up with some of the best salad sides around.
Taking the meal as a whole, the Trough has the sense of a chef striving to create dishes with some intelligence and flair as well as honest graft.
Mains were 24-34, wine at 10 per glass was maybe a little expensive. Overall the Trough would not go so far as to say good value, but value was in the 'fair' ballpark and the Trough recommends L'Artigiano.
Went here for our anniversary. The service was great. Our food was lovely and the cocktails were also really nice. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

For the area it's in surrounded by a dime a dozen cafés, restaurants that serve reheated food that charge you 30+ dollars a dish and outdated fast food places. L'artigiano provides provincial and seasonal italian food cooked fresh daily by the talented Chef Salvatore and his crew. Bold with changing seasonal menus and delicious daily specials, it's nice to have an Italian restaurant not pretending to be one. All these "italian" places serving up parma and chips and reheated meat dishes and charging you city prices are a stain on what restaurants like this try and do and that's providing freshness and quality food. I love the papardelle with wild boar ragu but cannot go past the pork belly main. Also the Baccala salad is a must try. Decor is nice but can get a bit noisy with large groups (this is understandable however the concrete floors dont help). I don't think the "privileged" ivanhoe restaurant goers understand what a gem they have. Maybe go to the pub if you dont understand what you have.
I have been to L'Artigiano a number of times and have tried a range of food. It's always been excellent. Very good quality ingredients cooked in simple, traditional (southern Italian) manner. Well presented. Menu changes regularly.
Today, my mother, wife and I enjoyed a spinach lasagna, snapper in broth and spatchcock. All were excellent. Italian wine accompanied.
Not the cheapest place, but not expensive either, considering the quality.
This is a very underrated suburban gem.

Delicious home made pasta, we had the veal ragu fettuccine and tomato gnocchi, really enjoyed it and the serving size was generous. Agree with other review that the service was a bit lacking and not particularly inviting
Real Italian food in a beautiful old Fire Station. Good selection of Italian wines and beers. Genuine Italian experience, helped by interested staff. Great for casual meal or special night out. Like taking a trip to Italy, without the travel.
Excellent Italian fare. Surprisingly good pizza for a non pizza specialist restaurant, great ingrediants and great cooking with perfect leoparding on the crust. Quality hand made pasta and stuzzichini. Serves Salumi Australia charcuterie which are excellent.
Have been twice and will be back again to try the rest of the menu.
