Delicious food! we’ve been coming here for years & we’ve never been disappointed! The family is so lovely & food is great! I always get the kimchi rice & the bibimbap
Great little hidden away spot.
This place is our go-to for healthy and authentic homemade Korean food. I also love their kimchi and kimchi pancake. I love how you can choose extra healthy options like having the mixed grains instead of white rice. My go-to is either the vegetarian friendly spicy kimchi tofu soup and rice set, or the salmon sashimi bibimbap available on Fridays and Saturdays! Also the store owners are the loveliest people.
This place has some very nice and healthy options for simple rice dishes.
I always get the bibimbap from here and use to get the bento boxes. Love the different choices that you can pick to add to your rice and it's very tasty!
Staff there are friendly, not a lot of seats to eat in, but it's on the way home, so take away is another great option.
I ordered the Bibimbap for dinner and was not dissapointed!! Both Vegetarian and Vegan friendly options available, and this is specifically customisable which I love. Also a great price and serving size for me plus it was promoting a combination of both really healthy and really tasteful authentic Korean food.
The shop front isn't the most obvious, but their food is makes up for it. First time I've eaten here after wondering what it was like for a while. Definitely adding 'My Rice Story' to my list of favourite take-away places (they have dine-in as well). Only set back for me is that there is a slight language barrier (my order was still 100% correct when I went for pick-up) but then again, it shows the authenticity of their shop and food (which I don't mind)
Very highly recommend others to try this place out :)
Authentic tasty food & friendly staff! Food options to cater for all dietary requirements. A true neighbourhood gem. What a great find! We'll be back.
Delicious food, I ordered the fried seaweed rolls, and the stone pot bibimbap + spicy pork with honey soy sauce! Bottom of the rice was crispy, plenty of veggies, meat and the egg was a perfect addition. Super friendly family and great food! Going back next week!!
Felt like a genuine home cooked Korean meal in the best way. Would definitely return for a light healthy lunch or dinner. Also felt great to support a local business started up by a young couple!
I don't have a great comparison for Korean food, as I've never been to Korea, but from what I've eaten in Melbourne, this is a hidden gem.
Owned and operated by a couple who are often seen with an infant attached to them, you can tell that they put as much into their food as they do into their attentive care of their child. Everything at My Rice Story is a labour of love.
Stumbled across this place while wandering around the shops in Ivanhoe and recognised it from the Korean Cravings collection. It's quite a small shop with few chairs and tables to eat. Decided to order the Spicy Squid Box and give something slightly different a try. The box came with seaweed rolls, dumplings and seafood nuggets as sides which all tasted great. The squid itself wasn't too spicy and overall made the dish very easy to enjoy. If I return to Ivanhoe again I'd be happy to revisit and try out some of the other options on the menu.
I found this place by coincidence. I tried spicy beef bibimbab and the amount of huge for small lady! I don't know how I managed to finish that. Place is very casual and quiet. As a Korean person, to be honest, this is place is alright. Taste very much like homemade, and not too sweet, healthy and light which is good! Great for take away. Recommend!
Well cooked light Korean food, ideal for the more health conscious. There's the make your own meal options available. Had the kimchi fried rice which was quite delicious.
With the high rating of 4.5, we went here for dinner on Friday around 7.30pm and ordered spicy squid bento box and beef bibimbap. We didn't find it special, but acceptable. Healthy fresh home cooked meal but we didn't taste any Korean flavor in the food. We gave 3.5 as the price is quite expensive, almost $30 for the two.
This place is great for a quick lunch (haven't been here for dinner before), with really tasty and fresh ingredients. The staff are also really friendly.
This is a great tasty, healthy take away alternative. Personally I suggest eat in as the Hot Stone is my favorite. Spicy Beef will chili sauce my personal favorite.
Whenever I am passing through Ivanhoe I can't help but drop by this place. Slightly a bit more expensive than what you can get elsewhere but this would be the best bibimbap you can get in Melbourne. There's a lot of options if you want to create your own bibimbap but I always stick with my favourite 5 grains rice with spicy pork and spicy chilli sauce. Definitely worth a try.
What a find!! Its such an unassuming place when you see it, but once you taste the food, wow!! Really good Korean food that would rival the big places. The meat and vegies are always fresh and service is good.
Yum, yum, yum, and yum!!! I love Korean food, and this place does it particularly well. It's clean, and the food is well presented. It's casual dinning, but still inviting, great for those occasions when you can't be bothered cooking and want something easy yet really tasty. I've been quite a few times and it's never failed.
I enjoy it every time I eat here... It's simple, tasty, thankfully not too expensive, fresh and clean tasting. Very enjoyable and a great variation on Asian street cuisine. Worth a try if you are in the Hoe and looking for a quick delicious lunch.

May 28, 2015 May 28, 2015 ~ eatmystreet Part of what I love about eating out in Glen Waverley is that it is bustling and busy and colourful; there is heat. “It’s just, the vibe of the thing.” When I visit at night it reminds me of my time in Hong Kong, busy, getting progressively busier as the night goes on. Never asleep, well not until early the next morning of course. I remember eating out in Florence; me, an American with her “I only eat Gluten free” note that had to be delivered straight to the chef, my new glamorous friend from New York who worked for the UN. We turned up for dinner at a little local, at 8pm. We were told it would be open by then. Oh the derision from the wait staff, the scorn from the Chef. They would not let us in and we waited huddled on the pavement in the cold back streets of Florence (there are far worst punishments for cultural naivety I can assure you of that). In Florence, as in all of Italy, you eat late and you stay out later. So Kingsway Glen Waverley is certainly not like that. You can turn up early, and in fact if you would like to park your car I recommend that you do. But it certainly grows busier as the night moves on. Kimchi Hut is my new favourite. My meal there was one of those meals that stay with you, willing you to return for more. I grew quite fond of Korean food eating at My Rice Story in Ivanhoe. Dinner there was quite different from Kimchi Hut, but the food was fresh and tasty and interesting. The Bibimbap was delicious and the staff were friendly and helpful. It was much more of a casual eatery though with an emphasis on take away food. At Kimchi Hut they have a spacious dining room and they seem to specialise in Shabu Shabu and Sizzling Plate. Shabu Shabu was very popular but I opted for a Sizzling Plate dish instead. With my three year old in tow I was not quite brave enough to cook my own food over a hot plate. Lots of other people were doing it, but alas, I was too cowardly. My Teriyaki Chicken Rice Stone Pot w
Fresh, tasty and healthy!. Friendly little place off the main street which exceeded expectations! Despite being not my usual choice (tofu and vegetarian) the tofu and vegetarian dumplings were incredibly flavoursome! The sauce that came with them complimented those flavour perfecty. Every dish we had was freshans full of vegetables and great quality meat. The staff were friendly and despite the place being quite busy and full or orders they somehow remained calm and attentive to each customer.
So glad to have found a local take away place we can go to after the gym which doesn't leave us feeling guilty and full of greasy food.
10/10! Will be back!
Best take away in town. Discovered the healthiest, freshest, cleanest, best value for money takeaway in Melbourne. Being a foodie, we eat out and get take away often and this is the one we choose to frequent as often as we can. A must try if you are in the area! Bibimbap is the best and the seaweed rolls a must.
Local favourite. Eat here usually at least once a week, sometimes more. Tasty, fresh and consistent Korean food. Hot stone Bibimbap perfect on a cold day, top notch Kimchi. Explore the menu, some hidden gems there.
My all new favourite place!!! I love it!! The food is fresh and so delicious! Staff are very friendly as well I recommend the spicy beef with prawns and salad!!
Excellent introduction to Korean food. We'll be back:)
Fantastic service, fantastic food! Highly recommended!. The service at this restaurant is absolutely top notch. I cannot tell you how accommodating, thoughtful and courteous the owner is. You truely feels they care about the customer. On top of that the food tastes great! This place has ticked every box and deserves to succeed. Our party of 3 was very impressed and will definitely return.
Great place. I usually have a bimbimbap - I love the stone bowl effect on the rice. Warm friendly staff, quick service and the food is fresh. You can feel the love in the food.
Best korean food in melbourne. Very tasty, healthy, great prices,do yourself a favor and try this little gem of restaurant , worth traveling for!
I have been coming here for over 2 years and food is always excellent, can't recommend highly enough.
A must try if you live local. I recommend you try this place if you in the Ivanhoe vicinity. It's not really a place for a sit down meal, but as a take away it is fantastic.
I really liked the Bibimbap as it was fresh and good quality. You can customise your meal with the ingredients you want and the prices are very reasonable.
Best korean this side of city!. This place is great! Excellent food, especially the bibimbaps. Service is also really good at this place. Will definitely be back!!!!!
Love it. Great food, great prices & super friendly. Only wish it was bigger so I could get a bunch of friends together here. Fab place.
Awesome! So tasty, my spicy pork bulgogi set ($14.50). Even has 1 mochi for dessert included.worth the travel from cbd to Ivanhoe.
Yummo. Been eating here since it opened! The owner (Sean) and his wife both run this place and they are the best! Food is awesome and he is always getting me to try new things on the menu! Dig In!
Fantastic!. We are Ivanhoe locals and love this place! Super healthy and super tasty! We eat here at least once a week!
Little gem!! Bimbimppap was delicious.. Different from the usual Bimbimppap - the owner uses a range of different grains mixed together.
Friendly owner
Yum! Will be back.
Just like in Seoul. I am a Korean and just happened to be in the area. I must say Bibimbap here is no different to eating in Seoul. Unlike many Korean food places in City or Korean living suburbs, they give you lots of meat toppings and fresh veggies as they seem to focus on BIbimbap. I was amazed to see their various choices of toppings while traditional Korean Bibimbap is all about vegetarian meal only. People know Samsung, LG, or Hyundai Motors (all Korean firms) well but still not familiar about Korean Food. Maybe it is time to try?
This place is fantastic! Great, fresh food, wonderful service, and family friendly! I'm picky about my bibimbap, and the quality and authenticity here is no different to eating in Seoul! The only problem is they don't deliver!!!
Delicious, fresh, simple food that beats any lunch spot in Ivanhoe for value. Me and my girlfriend saw its rating and decided to check it out, very pleased we did, the warm rice salad is amazing
Bibimbap!. A great place for a simple, quick meal. I like how you can choose what to put in your bibimbap. The vegetarian dumplings are also good. I would've liked the chilli sauce to have been like the ones at other restaurants, less concentrated and mixed with a few other ingredients. The people working there are very friendly! Will definitely return.
Lovely guys serving food from heart, .. clean and simple
Bibimbap 비빔밥 ( Korean pronunciation: pibimbap) is a signature Korean dish. The word literally means the 'mixed meal'. Bibimbap is served as a bowl of warm white rice topped with namul 나물 (sautéed and seasoned vegetables) and gochujang 고추장 (chili pepper paste). A raw or fried egg and sliced meat (usually beef) are common additions. The ingredients are stirred together thoroughly just before eating. It can be served either cold or hot. - Wikipedia It is not the Dol Sot Bibimbap (돌솥 비빔밥) meaning 'Stone Pot Mixed Rice' you find in some of the Korean Restaurants, the bibimbap from My Rice Story is served in a normal bowl and instead of a raw egg you get an egg roll. What is considered as unique from this little shop is that you can Create Your Own Bibimbap that is tailored to your own taste. There are 3 steps to the creation: 1
What a delightful place. I ordered the beef bulgogi box on takeaway and might delicious and filling it was too, and very reasonably priced it was too for the quality. Lovely service here too. This a terrific good value place. Highly recommended.
Very yummy and quick! It's a shame one dish and two sauces came in plastic containers though :( we ate in and would rather not waste plastic take-away containers!
I am a Korean and this is what exactly how my mum or grandma would cook. Not too salty, cannot taste msg which is very hard to find in other Korean (actually in any) restaurants. Highly recommend this local business. Better to eat in or takeaway than using Ubereats.
Really friendly staff. Food is consistently good - taste and quality. Many dishes served with rice and kimchi, some also with miso. Limited seating inside, but lots of people just get take-away so not an issue.
Great Korean-style food with a wide selection of fresh and healthy options. It’s a legitimate family business, so go in person and order takeaway for cheaper food and the clear conscience of supporting your local small businesses.
My boyfriend, Jack and I came to this restaurant for the second time just recently and everything was just as good as before! I'm not much of a fan for Korean food but the dish I ordered, the Bibmib, I fell in love it it. (Jacks Photo below).
Yummy authentic korean sets. Favs r the bimbimbab, beef ribs and spicy toufu stew. Casual atmosphere and only 3 tables.
Best Korean food I have ever had in Melbourne. I will definitely come again even I live in eastern suburb.
