Incredible food, out of this world service. Just the lovliest staff, always do their most for you. A perfect place to go out to for dinner, brilliant food and a fantastic experience.
Sensational food again. Great food, better service. Good spice, tender meat and warm friendly wait staff make for the perfect evening. Can't ask f or more.
Fantastic service and the food is magnificent. The fajitas were delicious and very filling. Our party of 12 were catered for perfectly and the price is very reasonable. Would recommend any time you are in Jindabyne
Accommodating staff and tasty treats. Margarita and Negro Modello were delicious! Highly recommend you book, especially in winter as it’s peak season!
A weekend away in Jindy and we have to try the local Mexican that's open during the summer.
The chilli lime squid with chipotle mayo is spicy, crispy on the outside and soft in the middle. The salt and coriander really comes through on this!
The nachos are some of the best nachos that I've tried, even compared to the ones in Sydney. The guacamole is real, smashed chunks of avocado, filled with lime and spices. The marinated pulled beef is amazing. Everything was really fresh.
The chicken burrito is smashing! The chocolate is not too overpowering and makes this WOW! Get the side of chips! Do It! You won't regret it!
I love the staff here! The place is vey dog friendly! Doggo got his own bowl of water, cuddles from other diners and every time they came out to see how we were going they said: "How's the 3 of you doing?"
The Miffy's were sooking about the rain but still made us FaceTime them in with EatsWithMiffy
The place seemed to be very famous since was fully occupied when we reached there and therefore, we were offered a place at the bar until the table gets free. The place was setup with tables inside and outside and provides a lovely view of Jindabyne river. The ambience and the music was outstanding. We ordered for our cocktails while we were standing at the bar. We got a Mojito and an amazing cocktail which had Mezcal as its main ingredient (Google Mezcal if you don't know what is it?). We being vegetarian, we loved that we had great selection of food and we ordered ourselves fajitas and tacos which were delicious. The staff was absolutely friendly and met the lady who is running the place and trust me she was a sweetheart. Loved them!!!! Worth a visit while you are in Jindabyne.
Food - 4/5
Service - 4.5/5
Ambience - 4.5/5
Value for Money - 4/5
Absolutely awesome food! We got the fried chicken, salt and chilli squid and jalapeno poppers as starters. The jalapeno poppers are amazing! You must try them!
I had the Pork Ribs as a main and they were authentic. They had a beautiful wood smoke flavour and the sauce was amazing.
I highly recommend this place!
Great Service, food and cocktails. Easily the best night out in Jindabyne with its great decor and vibe. Everyone is friendly and the atmosphere is great. These guys make an effort with their restaurant and it makes a pleasant change from the ones who just don't bother because they figure they've got the snow tourism anyway. We especially enjoyed the kick ass Margaritas, and the jalapeño poppers with surprise ingredient, feta cheese, which made them extra delicious.
I love this place. Whenever we go to Jindabyne whether it's summer or winter, visiting this Cantina is a must. We always order their Fajita and Nachos.
Good. Great food complimented by even better service. Nice bustling and comfortable Mexican atmosphere. Highly recommended. A+++ fast postage and prompt payment.
Great atmosphere, great cocktails, great shareplates. Start upstairs at the cocktail bar, and stay there if you just want to share the seafood tapas. Or migrate downstairs for alpinista-size portions of ribs, burritos and an excellent small selection of wine and beers. No bookings, can get raucous.
Simply Wow. After a few days in Canberra for work, my bestie and I decided to head down to Jindabyne for a winter weekend of walking, eating, drinking and endless chatting. I had a quick look on Urbanspoon to see what might be available for dinner and immediately wishlisted Cocina for two reasons - mexican (yum) and great ratings.
Well we were not disappointed that's for sure. I was concerned about getting a table on a weekend night at the tail end of ski season, so rang to make a booking only to be told they didn't take bookings for tables less than six people. So it was just turn up and hope for the best. On arrival on a chilly Saturday night we discovered the place was jam-packed with a waiting list to get a seat, but with the offer of a drink upstairs in the cocktail bar while we waited, we decided we weren't in any great hurry. We found out later that you can also order food up to the cocktail bar if you don't mind eating in a more relaxed setting with coffee tables and low chairs.
Anyway we didn't wait too long for a table - I guess about 20 minutes - we were talking so much I didn't even notice the time and with a couple of really good margueritas to keep us company, suddenly we were being led downstairs. The menu is pretty good - most of the usual suspects on there and a few less usual dishes. We ended up sharing the trio of dips and corn chips to start with - not really dips as it was a small bowl with a guacamole, sour cream and a salsa - not bad but to be honest not all that tasty. The guac was pretty ordinary unfortunately and when I saw the table beside me enjoying their soft tacos I had serious food envy and wished I had ordered those instead of the dips. Oh well next time.
For mains I ordered a beef burrito and my bestie had the tostada also with beef. She was very happy with her choice - filled with lots of crispy salad and yummy beef at the bottom. But it was my burrito that won the night and all was forgiven for the less than tasty guacamole/salsa dip choice. A lovely soft flour tortilla filled with the most delicious beef, rice, sour cream, lettuce, cheese and spicy sauce - one bite and I was in heaven. It was in all honesty the best burrito I have ever had anywhere - and I travelled through the southern US this year eating much mexican and nothing I had there came even close to what Cocina served me up.
So I loved the place - Jindabyne is not a place I visit all that often (in fact that was my first trip) but I am going to have to make a return visit at some time just to take my hubby to enjoy one of these amazing burritos. Of course the other problem now is that all future burrito's will be compared and I just don't think they are going to live up to the grade - damn!!! Anyway if you are in Jindy - make sure you have dinner here at least once!
Good food, good atmosphere! Was packed tonight so had to wait a while for a table. Entree came after main but just being picky. A great experience overall!
A must visit if your Iooking for great Mexican food with a warm and friendly atmosphere...
Decent food, good service. The Food was pretty good and creative - didn't knock my socks off, but would go again. I do recommend the churros.
Best Nachos I've ever had, I didn't last long enough for a photo. Margarita in a jar, the perfect accompaniment!!
Nice place. Had lunch here. went for the burrito, while a little messy was very tasty and authentic. my partner had the beef taco, the same for this, probably tastier and messier.
this place is not like the typical mexican rip-off joints littered around NSW, the food looks fairly authentic, and what we had was. didn't come from the kitchen very spicy but had a few chilli sauces on the table.
only let down was the service, they forgot our drinks order and we had to wait quite a while for the food and they weren't busy at the time.
all this considered, i would recommend to a friend.

I was pleasantly surprised by the food at Cocina - some small town Mexican restaurants seem to offer up a stodgy mess coated in a thick layer of cheese. Cocina managed to avoid this and the dishes were fresh, tasty and had a nice little zing. The nachos were yummy with all of the trimmings. The burrito was AMAZING with the meat absolutely melt in the mouth delicious. It was one of the best things I have eaten in a long time. The fish tacos were fresh and tasty although way too small to constitute a main - if you order these, consider a side as well.
The friendly staff were efficient and welcoming. We had the corn, totopos, and the fish and beef tacos, all of which were delicious. They also had dos equis on tap which certainly fitted with the cuisine and accompanied the meal nicely.
Delicious Mexican food! We had the Cauliflower Tostadas, Fish and Beef tacos 🌮 as mains, the Papa Frittas and the Good times Paloma cocktail 🍹.
Fish tacos were great! Loved the pairing with the sauce. Beef tacos were a little tougher to chew, but had a great smoked flavour. Papa Frittas were like double deep-fried wedges, couldn't fault it. The cocktail was out of this world! Refreshing and such and interesting take with habanero salt! Try it!
Overall: 8.5/10.
There was a fancy see-through plastic tent outside the restaurant for special bookings.
Enjoyed tasty Mexican food and good cocktails here. The menu isn’t huge and lacks many Mexican favourites, but what there is is interesting and fresh. Staff are great, and the COVID regime is disciplined.
It is not easy to run a restaurant, and even harder to maintain an excellent one. However, the Cocina Grill at Jindabyne is one such superb restaurant. If your experience of Mexican food is limited to takeaway burritos, then I strongly recommend you expand your palate and make a booking at Cocina Grill.
From the starters to the mains, the menu is focused and while you may see only a few choices, these choices are excellently prepared from fresh ingredients. My favourites are the Jalapeno poppers, with ricotta, agave, walnuts, currents and yellow salsa as a starter; and the wagu rump (MB6+) as a main with the "papa frittas" on the side.
Friday evening was relatively quiet, but Saturday was very busy. The people running it were polite and service, for such a busy night, was excellent.
Again, I highly recommend this restaurant, but book beforehand for Saturday. The word is out and this is definitely a place to dine in Jindabyne.
Fabulous evening @ Cocina Taqueria after a day bombing the slopes.
The variety of food was sensational.
6 hungry lads, share plated a wide selection of the menu & had to go back for a 2nd plate of the Pork Belly.(Highly recommended!!)
Definitely our 1st choice in Jindy for future trips.
Service was super efficient & staff were always there for the refills of Margaritas & other cocktails despite having a full house!
Hope to see you all again this season!
Some of the best Mexican food I've had in Australia... drinks are very reasonably priced as well. Just all around awesome.
