Review Dragon Palace - Joondalup

We went for dim sum at lunch. Overall, the food was generally better quality and tasting than average for dim sum with a few minor issues like an over-fried dough stick in the rice flour roll. Service during a weekday lunch was unexpectedly sub standard. Staff lacked demeanour, which is not a problem in itself but they didn't work together and staff were doing the minimum such as if you asked for a dish and it wasn't that person's job then they will just say they don't personally deal with it and walk off. The food trolleys were brought to tables only once at the beginning and after that you had to keep trying to get someone's attention. This is very uncharacteristic of a dim sum restaurant and it's the first time I've left one without receiving everything we wanted that was actually available. It's a pity because this could be a really good dim sum and Cantonese restaurant.

I really didn’t enjoy this Chinese. Takeaway lunch special - BBQ combination rice. Lacked flavour and the pork was chewy and dry. The sauce on the rice was very plain. I didn’t enjoy the salad with the meat & rice. A lunch special of $20 is very expensive considering the lack of quality.

Did not open on time and made customers wait at the door for several minutes unnecessarily. Close to zero service - had to self-serve for most things, even such as putting bowls, spoons and sauce plates on the table. They took 20 minutes and two asks to bring us tea, and it wasn't the tea we ordered. Then they took away most of the sauce plates from our table because the restaurant didn't have enough. Their dimsum menu has minimal vegetarian options. Most of the staff were expressionless, as if they hated to be working there. I appreciate it's Easter Monday, so 7 wait staff for a full house means they're busy, but that's no reason to neglect respect for customers. The food quality is good and this is the only thing keeping me from lowering the rating to only 1 star.

Friday morning, waited until 10.40am eventhough sign says open 10.30am. Attracted the attention of woman inside and asked what they opened. She waved her hand and turned her back. We waited another 10 minutes and thought the restaurant must open at 11.00am. Knocked on window and git attention of man, he nodded his head and looked the other way. 5 minutes later the door opened. The waitress said they can't open without manager being present. Later we were told that the manager needed to go to the shop prior to opening. The waitress was rude and the salt and pepper squid had to be returned to the kitchen it was too tough. No apologies offered.

Dim sum is brilliant. Huge portions. Top quality food. Food is always great. Service can be slow at times but excellent nonetheless.

Very satisfied with my lunch today. I've been looking for this place since a year ago, because I thought it was inside the mall. Everything was very satisfying, the flavor, texture, the dumplings, even the tea was wonderful. Will be back again with my family for sure.

I have been ordering ubereats from them and last three orders were bad. They forgot my coke and took 2 hours to deliver on one occassion. The last order I had, the pork meat taste funny, it tasted off like it was cooked yesterday. Theyre probably good for dine in but look somewhere else for ubereats, plenty of other that can offer great service at a reasonable price.

Worst customer service I've ever experienced! Almost comical how bad this place is ran. Inattentive/uninterested staff that do their very best to dodge your pleading glaze. Our entrees/mains never made it to the table (asked 3 times, no explanation ever given) beverages unattended to. We up & left!! Staff need to really up their game!

For a treat I thought I would have a take away meal from Dragon Palace I ordered Jumbo BBQ Platter, Daily selection of mixed vegetables and a serving of rice costing $52 I got flavoured bones and over cooked chicken the vegetables were bland not worth the money I don't think I would eat in

I couldn't fault the staff and the service but the food itself is hugely overpriced. $25 for honey chicken and $19 for fried rice is daylight robbery. Unless they make their prices more competitive I won't be returning.

I went today there with my son. The service was outstanding. Meals were served very quickly and food was yummy and delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Absolutely beautiful food, not only visually but great tasting also. The service was impeccable, the flow of the carts were effortless and the staff were just lovely. We will be back again!!

Live animals displayed in tanks waiting to be killed. Turned my stomach. Walked straight out. Not sure how people can eat around this. Horrible.

Having a few teething problems by the look of it and will be better once the staff have their tasks down pat. Some staff with trolleys ignored us because they were busy sorting out orders. Could do with a lobby to keep the flies out. Some of the food was cold but the crispy prawn dumplings were amazing. Will give my full blogger review in a month when they have settled down.

This will definitely be my go to place for Yum Cha from now on. Food was amazing and I just live 10 minutes away so very convenient!!!

Dragon Palace is my favourite spot in Northbridge for dim sum/yum cha, and they have recently opened a branch more locally to me in Joondalup. Word has passed around quickly that there’s dim sum in Joondalup, and every Sunday there are queues of hungry diners outside waiting for their number to be called.

Dim sum was good and the duck was delicious.

The wife and I decided to give this place a go after about 2 years since we were last there
We are not fans of fried food so we had the duck and steamed chicken, it was juicy, tasty, absolutely delicious and good value.
Great service
We wIll definitely be back !!
Sushiqueen
was not disappointed. portions were very large & couldn’t finish it all so they packed it away for us to take home!!! food was delicious & the menu has loads to choose from. staff were lovely & kind. will be returning 🐲💓

Won't be coming back. Food was super oily and pork belly tasted chewy and not cooked properly. 10% discount was an insult when the bill was around $80 for two. Don't mind the price if the food was good. But the place is a big let down.

We went here for dim sum on a Saturday morning. The food is nice and service was okay. Place is nice and clean. Will have to come back here again for dinner.

Dragon Palace.

Sister restaurant to it’s Northbridge home branch.

Dim sum here isn’t bad. But it is inconsistent depending on time of day and what you order. Having visited multiple times... my tips are:
1. Dumplings - steamed are generally acceptable and even good.
2. Soups and made to order dishes can be variable. The hot and sour soup was thin, boring and an unanimous fail as we passed it from person to person.
3. Cold meats. If ordering roast pork or duck, ask for it fresh. The platters on the trolley are exposed to the air and often cold.
4. The fried squid tentacles here are often favourites. There’s nothing wrong with the traditional buns either.
5. Service - variable. It’s a Chinese restaurant. Flag people down if you need anything.

At least it’s not hard to get a seat on most days though does get busy from midday on Saturday.

Not a lot of option really for dimsum this side of town and Dragon palace is perfectly acceptable. I’ve dined dozens of times now.

Came here for Mother’s Day, good ambience but dim sum was hit and miss, average in quality. Need to lift their standard to match Northbridge, happy to try them again in few months time.

Went here nice and early on a Sunday. Nice, clean restaurant with a relaxed atmosphere. The more senior staff were quite attentive and accommodating, however the waitstaff were less observant.
Fresh and tasty dumplings were served, however the chicken feet had a strange marinade to it, the chilli paste tasted like spicy tomato sauce, and the tendons were slightly undercooked. I'd stick to the Northbridge usuals.

Had Yum Cha today and found the place buzzing. The food was generally good, a couple of misses were the fried calamari legs, tough and very dry, and the pork ribs? which were mainly chunks of bone and an overwhelming taste of reconstituted dried garlic!
The dumplings were delicious, the desserts, ok..
service was speedy and considering the amount of diners, quite efficient
Will go back again, there was lots of variety we didn’t get to try

Don't be fooled by the outside and setting. Looks fancy but I had the dinner menu and it was very average. The Dragon Palace special fried rice was like it came out from the microwave and it wasn't even hot. The ho fun with egg sauce had no flavour and it tasted very fishy and salty. Very expensive for what you get on the table. Ho fun down the road from Kulcha is more tasteful and authentic! And much cheaper, half the price compared to here. Would not recommend this place

Ok... so tried the dim sum... nice but served way to cold... then went back for dinner... again nice but not all the food served was hot enough... service a bit patchy some staff really nice and attentive others a bit aloof... mix BBQ plate a little bit fatty... perhaps it was the crispy pork belly it could have been cooked a bit more... environment and setting top notch ...nice and clean... will most definitely be giving it another try as its still early days to be to critical... if they iron out a few of the criticisms mentioned this place will be a wonderful addition to the joondalup dining scene...

Excited that there was yum cha place up this way. Only been open a week. Food was OK not spectacular. Really had mix feelings about the service. There were some wait staff who were great and others ok. Charging $2 per head for tea isn't on. But it's quite normal at yum cha now. Overall, it was a pleasant experience, clean venue and ok dishes. Will be back to give it another go once they are more settled in.
