Your usual British style pub. Lots of specials during the week definitely worth trying. Friendly staff, will try this place again for a better review
My husband and I ate here for dinner recently. The restaurant was empty so we were seated quickly. Had the 4 cheese croquettes as an entree. The croquettes were really nice but the sauce/chutney was even better. Our mains took approximately 30 min to come out which was weird considering we were the only ones dining. I also couldn't help but notice alot of the staff standing around with nothing to do. Regardless, I had the barramundi which was nice but lacked some seasoning. My husband had the ribs which were cooked perfectly however the sauce was a little too sickly sweet. All in all was a nice meal.
We went here for lunch today and I was so impressed! I absolutely loved every piece of food that went in my mouth. The atmosphere was so nice and relaxed. The staff were friendly. I didn't want to go home. It's a pity that I live so far away or else I'd be there every day
I've been to The Bailey heaps of times. It's one of my locals. I've enjoyed most meals here but it's always been standard pub fare until just now. I want to say 'new chef': the menu is the same but now 2 nights in a row I've been electrified by the presentation and the taste of the same old menu I've been pillaging for the last 2years. The screens here hint at a new menu which I read as 'new chef' and really, I'm excited! This will be my go-to now instead of my alternative.
I was a bit concerned about previous reviews however we couldn't have asked for much better. Most of the staff (except for one rude lady at the bar) were friendly, efficient and helpful. I had the steak and it was absolutely delicious! My husband had the chicken parmigana and he did say it didn't have a lot of sauce, but wasn't unhappy. The staff were very happy for us to bring our own cake in, and checked with us if we were ready for it.Overall very happy and would return!
We arrived at 7:30 on a Friday night & there wasn't much atmosphere at first (it's a big place!) but it got busy quite quickly. The food was surprisingly good; I had a steak & it was cooked perfectly. The drinks were reasonably priced ($26 for house sparkling was great value). And then at 9 the band Hi-NRG came on & brought the house down. Top night!
Yum, yum, yum. Cannot fault this place, just went there last night (Thursday), food is awesome and I've just come back from a trip in America/New York where the food is amazing, so I think 'awesome is just below 'amazing'. I had the linguine with prawns and bacon, so yum, shared half with my friend, she wouldn't give it back to me! She had the goats cheese tart which was delicious too. Everyone's meal looked so good, wanted to try it all. Not sure about the bad reviews, maybe different chefs on a different night. I went here last September too and the food was just as good. :)
Very enjoyable. I am a chef that looks after 3 similar restaurants to the Bailey. I even worked at the Bailey about 8 years ago.
Service was quick and came with a smile. Food was tasty, moist and plenty of it without being full of rabbit food like other English pubs.
Compliments to the chef and the floorstaff.
Thankyou
Everytime we go here the food is fantastic and the staff are friendly. We will continue to enjoy the lovely atmosphere and wonderful food
It was good. The food was really tasty and the presentation was awesome. Good job!
Yummmmy. Took my sister inlaw out for a meal , we both had the special rib eye witch was mouth watering , and at the $26.50 well worth it we shared a garlic bread and salt and pepper squid with was also pleasent to eat .. after some bad food at a local resturant you guys have gone and topped there best meal by far .. will deff be back thaks again .
Went there for the first time in years around when they changed from "old bailey" to just bailey and its massively improved in many ways. Theres been renovations so its way schmancier and the menu has about 3 times as many items it used to. All meals were good in the few times we went (i really enjoyed the ribs) and in general just much better than it used to be
Massive Portions. Went on a Wednesday night and had a few of the $10 specials which is a choice of Pizza or Pasta. I had the spag bol which was delish. My little boy ordered the kids fish and chips for $10, and my mate had the meat lovers pizza. Portion sizes were massive, food was delish and came out quick. The kids meals are the best value in town, $10 you get dinner, drink and icecream to finish!! Well worth the money, would go back for sure. Also they let you take away your food if you don't finish it - handy as the sizes are large.
A welcome surprise. Having eaten here before we knew what to expect. However the the gentleman and lady that were running the bistro today were a delight. Truly A+ service, very unexpected. Pub grub was good as well. But what great service.
Went with family the other evening. Service good and fast, meals came out with a smile and beautifully presented, plenty on the plate and tasted good. Only negative comment was, there so quick at clearing plates and glasses away we were sitting there ackwardly just letting our meal digest but felt the need to leave as all our drinks were cleared away too! Score 7.5/10
Super yum food, fantastic service - a really nice place to relax on a cold, wintery weekday night. Returned today and enjoyed the chicken and mushroom dish.
Worth another try. The new Bailey is so much better. For a start the decor has been completely revamped and so much better. Staff were extremely attentive & friendly and the main thing - the food's so much better than before (old management). Steak & prawn special was beautifully cooked. We coulnd't fault anything.
Last time we dined at "The Old Bailey" it was an 'experience' to say the least. Staff unfriendly, slow service food very average, hot chips weren't hot - sent back 3 times for hot chips only to end up with no chips at all - they forgot about us or decided to ignore us - too much hard work.
With the new management and rennovations, this place is defintely worth another try!!!
Fantastic place for a family meal. I had not been to what used to be 'The Old Bailey' for years, due to very average previous dining experiences there. Hearing that the place is under new ownership, we decided to give it a go last Sunday and were pleasantly surprised. I had a really good seafood platter (the prawns, oysters, whiting, mussels, scallops were all great...the calamari could be improved) and my husband had a steak that he raved about. There was also a good list of reasonably priced specials and kids meals. Mellow live music added to the atmosphere ; the decor has been modernised and brightened up from the dingy dark place it used to be. I was surprised at how busy this place was for a Sunday. We'll definitely be back.
One of the best feeds ive had. Bailey Bar & Bistro has it all, great food, great drinks offer, excellent customers service, very reasonable prices, relaxed atmosphere, ample parking what else can i say! I loved it and can see myself going back there many more times. Keep up the great work!
Welcome back!!. Since the original owners have bought back the Bailey. You can instantly see and feel the difference. They know how to run a great pub not "tavern" which so many unfortunately are. A new name and a new life. The food is fab and the service is so quick and friendly. Big difference when its a family run pub/bistro. Welcome back Deb and family. We will start going back there now.
Valerie. I took my family to the Old Bailey for an early dinner on Wednesday and we were all really impressed with the food and the staff. The service was excellent (my two year old grandson was with us and without asking, colouring pencils and paper appeared to keep him occupied), the staff were welcoming and worked very efficiently and we enjoyed a delicious meal in a relaxed, hospitable atmosphere. Highly recommended.
The menu had a good selection of pub standards (steak sangas, salt and pepper squid, parmies etc) as well as some more ‘exotic’ options; Moroccan spiced lamb and Saffron linguine. They even had a kids section which you don’t find all that often these days. Although very tempted by the lamb, I ordered the Tuesday night special, a 300gm Black Angus Rump steak served with garlic sauce, chips and greens ($16.50) and my girlfriend had the chicken caesar salad – sans anchovies ($22). Most of the table ordered the steak special but I did see the odd pizza floating around which looked very tasty too.
Saturday night band With Todd Johnston Peace Love..and all that stuff and great food from the bistro. Highly recommended.
Steak was soft and cooked to my liking. Overall, very tasty. Food came out very quickly with good service. The specials were also quite nice with unique flavours and adequate servings. A pleasant experience overall.
I go here with 4 friends every 5 weeks or so and have been doing so for a few years now. The staff are always helpful and friendly and the food delicious. I was chuffed on Monday when I was served my apple pie with a candle in it by the waitress. She'd noticed my pile of cards and presents from my friends and took it on herself to make me feel special :)
First of all I would like to just state this place is 10/10 in my eyes.
My sister and I came here for food and drinks, I haven’t been here for 3 years as I live in the uk, our first stop was the toilets they were very clean and smelt amazing. We were then greeted by a lovely lady who was working the bar area, she was really helpful. We decided to have martini espresso cocktails one decafe and that was no problem for the owner to do for us. We also ordered a bottle of wine a New Zealand white wine after having a taste test which was lovely.
We then placed our food order we had the goat samosa as a starter to share it was the most delicious starter I’ve ever had. The sauce on it was amazing. We had tried to order ribs which was a special but they were all sold out so we chose the chicken Palme and the pork noodles and we split both meals. The meals were to die for! Absolutely 10/10 gorgeous food. Our cocktails were so good that we didnt drink them right away we waited till after I food to enjoy them as a pudding as they were so nice. I can’t recommend this place enough. It’s the nicest food I’ve ever eaten in my whole Australian stay. And we will 100% be back. The staff were great even made a cocktail for us recommended by the head chef which wasn’t on the menu. And it was no trouble for the owner. Thank you all very much for your hospitality to myself and sister.
Went on a Wednesday Night. Live music was good, food was pretty good. They have some very good value specials. Kids eat free (Kids Meals) with paying Adult (has to be a full price meal).
