Review Trendi - Joondalup

My Family and I went to Trendi Cafe last night with a Groupon voucher. As I had read some of the reviews earlier that day I thought that I may have made a mistake purchasing, but the complete opposite. The service was amazing. Out lovely waitress was very attentive, even when we split water all over the table. Entres were very yummy and enough for the four of us, and the mains were yum yum. And with the 2 bottles of wine that we also got with the deal we all left very content. I could not fault this place and would most definitely go back. All the place needs it a bit of a decor update and they have a winner of a place.

We went for a friends birthday dinner. Arrived at 7 & only half an hour later did we receive glasses for our wine & water bottles. No buckets with ice either. It was about 8 when we even got asked what we wanted to order only because I called the waitress over. There were only two staff on and they weren't even busy. Overall very disappointing. We went about two years earlier & it hasn't changed at all. They really need to improve & I won't be going back unless they do. There wasn't even any desert to chose from apart from ice-cream and one or two other things, there was no cake selections.

This is the first time I've reviewed a restaurant but it was so terrible I feel I have to spare others the trip. We went with a Dinner Groupon. I was more than happy to buy the voucher as have been there several times a couple of years ago & loved it. Tonight however was an entirely different story. I was a little worried when we went in & there was only 1 other table of patrons (on a Friday night). Throughout the whole night, only 2 other tables were filled. I purchased the Groupon because we love seafood and the seafood platter entrée sounded great. When we ordered it however, we were told that they had sold out of one of the components (with only 1 other table there?) and when we asked about having it minus the missing ingredient, we were told that they were out of it all. We later found out that the person taking the booking is apparently supposed to take your entrée order at the time so they can pre-order it? (which didn't happen because the woman who I booked with was just helping out & didn't know). We then only had the option of the other entrée (spring rolls, bread, sausage etc.) as the Groupon was a set menu. This was actually the only good part of the meal. For mains we both ordered Fish of the Day which was Salmon with a variety of veggies. The only options on the set menu was fish or a pasta dish. Unfortunately however, the waitress came back to tell us that they only had 1 portion of salmon left but that we could have a meal of red emperor at no charge extra. I was puzzled that they would be so short on their key ingredients but decided to go with the red emperor. When it was brought out, the waitress asked who was having the salmon and then proceeded to give the fish instead. I pointed out that I thought she had them mixed up as the salmon was pink. She said that was what the chef had told her?? After we'd swapped our meals, we were both incredibly disappointed. Both lots of fish were way over cooked. So much so that my husbands crispy skin was even burnt. Even the mashed potatoes tasted terrible (& I usually love mashed potato!) and I'm pretty sure the menu said it was supposed to have asparagus with it as well which it didn't. For my meal, apart from the fact that the fish was also overdone & had no seasoning (did I mention though that it did have a garnish of grated cheddar cheese on it?), it had been brought out on a bed some kind of vegetable risotto which was not nice at all. I was expecting the same sides as the salmon had seen as it had been substituted however this was not the case. It was so terrible, neither of us could eat much of it at all. The waitress enquired as to whether everything was ok, to which we could not lie. She came back shortly later apologizing and offering us complimentary coffee & dessert. We gratefully accepted a serve of White Chocolate Torte & Oreo Cheesecake. This was the nail in the coffin of a dreadful experience. The custard & cream on the torte tasted like it had gone off. The Oreo's on the cheesecake were soft & soggy. And the ice-cream had pieces of ice in it. I hate to write a such a damming review but I can honestly say this was one of the worst experiences I've ever encountered. I must say though, through it all, our waitress couldn't have been nicer. She was the only positive about our experience there & I felt really bad about complaining given how lovely she was. I did enquire at the end and as suspected, it has recently changed owners. I do hope they improve quickly as this was once a vibrant, delicious place to eat. Sadly It wasn't this time.

The atmosphere is quite nice with painting and mood lighting, the food was delicious and we're looking forward to coming back and trying some of the other choices on the menu, the staff were considerate as we took a long time to choose and were happy to let us take our time and they were conscientious about getting us top ups for our drinks. The only negative was the facilities on site, they were dirty and you had to go through an untidy storage area, also someone had been smoking in there, a blip on an otherwise lovely experience. We'll definitely be coming back.

i purchased a groupon voucher for a friend as a gift and it is sad that we cannot get hold of this place, they do not answer the phone not reply to emails or after leaving message on answering matchine they do not respond. how do you book if you cant get hold of them. pathetic, will not buy a groupon again . I have been calling daily and no luck... anyone else had this issue i would love to know.
