Review El Mexicano - Joondalup

Friendly service, nachos are thin, crispy and delicious. Brito is a fantastic taste.

The biggest and tastiest burritos in Perth! We used to think zambreros was good, now I wouldn't even consider going back there again. Always very friendly staff! Definitely one of my favourite places to eat.

Great food and super friendly staff. Very happy.

Best burito's ever, food is always fresh and enjoyable 10/10 experience

What can I say besides yuk!! The food was completely tasteless. Came all separated for us to put together. After long days at work and kids activities If we wanted to put together our own dinner we would have gone to the supermarket and got the ingredients ourselves, making a much nicer meal. The slow cooked beef was tough, chewy and full of rubbery fat, no flavour. The tomato salsa was not what I would call a salsa. A salsa to me is chunky and full of veg not a cold sloppy watery tomato soup.

Far better than Mad Mex! Why? It's a bit bigger and they cram in a lot more meat and goodies. I find it a really good feed. On one Occassion the lady seemed to be tight on the meat portion, wish I said something to be honest. I just hope the management see this and keep to the usual consistency.

We had a quick mid-week take away burritos which were good for the price. Nothing fancy. Avocado doesn't cost extra which is great.

Best chicken burrito I've ever had. Keeps me coming back! well priced, good variety of fresh vegetables to add. Better than Zambz IMO

Everything about this place is 10/10. Great service, huge portion size, giant range of meat and fillings (all of which are very fresh). Could not recommend this place enough, by far the best Mexican food in Perth. If you're looking for something far better than the chains (Mad Mex, Zambreros) then eat here you wont be disappointed!

Best burrito in Perth. I used to frequent the one in Armadale before it closed down, now this is the only good place for a burrito in a city filled with unworthy Zambreros.

This is my man's favourite average mexican joint in all of Perth! We came here for one of our first dates about 3 years ago! We find the food is fresh and they have an option for brown rice! Price is decent and service is friendly. We like to drop by everytime we're in the area.

Awesome burittos leaves zambreros for dead. Actually puts real meat in them instead of cat food mush. A bit pricey but well worth it 👍 👌👌👌

The food here was not too bad, unfortunately for nearly $20 bucks in tacos, I still felt hungry when I left. They put about 4 little chunks of meat in the entire meal.

Brilliant Mexican place, blows all take away Mexican chains in Perth out of the water. Value for money, friendly service and beautiful tasting food.

Love this place for a big feed , the burrito has massive girth and is very tasty , service is efficient .Just had my free burrito as I been here 10 times.

Not a bad place to get a quick meal if the sausages at Bunnings dont take your fancy. I was a little confused about the flavours though they just didnt seem on par with other "fast" mexican food on offer. This was during the first couple of weeks of opening however so maybe they were just getting their recipes down pat.

Delicious!. I'm not a fan of Mexican and ended up here much to my protest. It was amazing! The ingredients were fresh, serving sizes were great value for money, and the nicest thing of all was the staff we so friendly and helpful. Who would have thought ... great customer service in Perth!
I'm now a convert ... I love Mexican ... only if it's from El Mexicano however.

Best Mexican around!. Have been at El Mexicano a few times now and every time the food has been delicious. Lots of flavour and some great healthy options like brown rice, black beans and lots of fresh salad items. The chicken is lovely and moist, at a lot of places chicken seems quite dry. Very generous portions and lovely staff! Will keep going back for sure!

Amazing, I love Mexican food & this place is far better than its competitors. I had a chicken quesadilla and my partner had a chicken burrito. Both were awesome, full of flavour, The smoky jalapeños sauce = yum!! The 2 young staff members were friendly and knowledgable, and talked us through what would go well with our choices! Will be back soon!

Never again.... I just bought 2 burritos with no extras and 2 drinks and it came to 40 something dollars. I walked out of the shop and took a menu with me and did the maths and figured it should have only been $29. I went back inside and they refunded me the $11.50 for the extra burrito they charged me for. I make a waayy better burrito at home.... It just didnt have the right flavours. I ended up getting beef because there was no chicken heated up... Very stingy on the salads. Wont be going back there in a hurry thats for sure. Sad because i was really excited to try it :( and the poor young kids serving us didnt look like they had proper training at all and it was only them serving with no help from managers or anyone more experienced.

Group-on Meal. Had a group-on voucher which we used for the new El Mexicano in Joondalup.
Ordered a burrito and three crispy tacos (of which I had one) along with a couple of waters as per the deal.
Unfortunately the tacos were pretty much stale and the guacamole wasn’t that great. It wasn’t all bad though, I did find the chilli con carne pretty good and a much tastier option than the plain beef.
Noticed that fish was an option but I doubt it’s a popular filling as there was only a smallish piece available which didn’t look very appetising.
Good to see that brown rice was an option but perhaps they should also consider wholemeal wraps?
Service was very good with friendly and helpful staff, it’s just a shame the food wasn’t quite up to scratch.
Perhaps my choice in timing was bad as I placed my order around 3pm which is between their busier meal times.
I doubt I would recommend it over other Mexican fast food places.

Went here today and had a quesadilla with chicken fantastic flavours. This easily the nearest we have in Perth to Californian style Mexican food . I lived there for a few years. Great value

Great food, great service.. Visited yesterday had burritos one beef and one vegetarian food was fresh. The roasted vegetables were cooked on the spot. Food was so tasty, the service was awesome. Definitely recommended. Keep up the good work.

I love Mexican food so pleased to see this pop up close to where I live! Better than zambreros, only thing I would say is its pretty pricey ($2 for jalapeños!)- this would stop me from going back too often - but decent food & service was friendly
My Tastebuds
Meh Mexican. I was in the area & saw that there was a Mexican eatery there. It was lunch time & I love Mexican food, so I headed in to give this new eatery a go.
Service was friendly & the restaurant was modern & very clean,
I ordered a Chicken El Mexicano Burrito. The Mexican rice was so bland & tasteless. Reminded me of boring Old El Paso store bought brand. No flavor. Chicken was tasteless & I got "medium" salsa - boring. My expectations are high when it comes to Mexican food & sorry guys my expectations weren't met,

What a delicious addition to the new joondalup area! Decided to pop in while checking out the new Bunnings. We had Tacos and a Burrito, both with chicken which was absolutely delicious. That's always a big thing for me and the quality and freshness of the chicken and all ingredients was so surprising. Both meals were absolutely delicious! Very impressed with this place, will be the new go to Mexican joint! Once the staff find their feet a little more it will be brilliant. Well done and keep it up, delicious!

As a mom of a busy 2 year old toddler, I couldn’t be more thrilled with the new kids playground at Joondalup Square, opposite the gigantic new Bunnings Warehouse. As an added bonus, the well thought out open-air play area is surrounded by eateries! It is shaded by two shade sails, and is fully fenced and gated. There are 2 gates – one leads onto a pram ramp with a railing on either side (just another play item for my monkey), and the other has a couple of steps down – making the playground slightly sunken. The surface is softfall rubber (and interestingly they forbid high heels!). There are several benches surrounding the fence (ie. not inside the play area) where you can sit and watch your child play while you nibble a takeaway or sip on a coffee safely. Or you can sit at the outdoor tables of the eateries, but this is a few more metres away from the play area, making it more tricky to watch your kids if it gets busy.

El Mexicano is a new casual dining & takeaway restaurant in Joondalup that offers authentic Baja cuisine – Mexican food with a Californian influence. I was fortunate enough to attend the opening celebration last night to sample some of the food on offer. El Mexicano opens to the public on February 13th and will be open seven days a week for lunch and dinner. The general idea is that you pick your style of meal (burrito, taco, quesadilla or nachos), choose your filling (chicken, pork, beef, fish, chilli con carne or chargrilled vegetables) and add your chosen heat of sauce (all $10.90). You can also get a meal of chargrilled chicken, pork, beef or fish with Mexican rice, black beans and tomato salsa for $14.90. There’s a kids menu and even healthier options if you’re so inclined.
