Review Ryu - Joondalup

There's nothing better than a sushi train which delivers! Fresh, fast and full of variety and flavour. The green tea was delicious too. Definitely recommend. 🍣🥢

Our favourite sushi train ever! My sister and I come here regularly and before that id come on my own. The staff are so nice, and the food is amazing. I love all the options and I honestly cannot fault them at all, we were so sad during the renovations eagerly waiting to have our sushi fix! If you want a sushi train I definitely recommend RYU! The plates are all at a set price which iv found so easy when it comes to making payment. Also you can order it fresh if you don't see what your wanting. Love it here 😁

I ordered the Chicken Bowl, a bowl of Udon with Teriyaki Chicken for $10.90, it looked delicious, spectacular as well as the taste is just magnificent, marvellous. The customer service is just wonderful and very friendly as well. I would highly recommend this place. I also ordered some of the Sushi and it taste just delightful.

Used to be very good, but now very average. Sashimi has got so small that I stopped ordering it. Just charge me more and give me a good portion. Spicy chicken is ok, staff are usually friendly.

A proper Japanese restaurant is on upstairs food court of Joondalup shopping centre. I like their cooking, fresh and delicious. Not only the different varieties of small dishes on the train bars, what I like the most is their fresh cooked noodles: udon and ramen! The best taste noodle soups among the Japanese restaurants I have been visited in Perth. 🥰😋😋

All plate was $3.30 and the taste was very nice except the tempura. The tempura was tasteless at all - I think because of the batter was too plain. Overall sushi was amazing and fresh. Love to go again shortly!
Oliver Cole
Very well priced and tasty sushi, service was great! Everything is ordered on your phone if it's not on the sushi train and the food arrives promptly.

By far the best sushi train I've ever had! Big variety and plentiful supply. We will be back 😁

Lots of new restaurants, coffee places and a brewery, what a nice place to spend the afternoon! Unfortunately not for parents because of that stupid pool in the middle of the place, all the kids want, including mine is sit on the edge and stick their feet in the water for a refreshment but not allowed, so we have to leave because they wont stop crying. What a terrible idea.

Expecting workers to park in the middle of nowhere during the day is fine but expecting them to also park there at night is ridiculous and unsafe! I’ll be taking my money to Joondalup to do my shopping now to avoid you threatening me with a fine.

Went to Event Gold Class yesterday, what a joke.... No meet and greet at the front door. Ordered food at the bar and the assistant had not been trained to use the till. Ordered drinks at the bar, selected drinks (beer) were not available ( and this was opening day). Are tickets were not returned to us after ordering and had to ask for them before entering the cinema. There were plenty of assistants in the lounge but we were not shown to our seats. My wife's Food arrived ( fish and chips) appropriately 30 minutes in, and was handed to her and not placed on the table. My food came 10 minutes later (chips three ways in a basket) and again the food was handed to me and not placed on the table. Both meals were of a very poor standard and were not finished. On leaving there were no complimentary chocolates (as you get at Currambine) and no thank you for coming. We have been to most Gold Class Cinemas in Perth and I know this was the first day but you really need to lift your customer service skills if you want compete... Rant over, enjoyed the movie.

I love the new entertainment space! Since opening we have been 4 or so times and have loved the vibe! My only small negative is that the kids were all told to keep out of the water. I get it, I also tried to keep my 3 year old out of the water, however I do wonder why it was made so accessible, it’s just dangling a carrot!

Whitfords has gone from a pleasant place to shop on a Sunday to a virtual nightmare today after those new restaurants have opened. People fighting over car parks, not letting people in or out of car bays. Very stupid behaviour from some people. Hopefully the novelty will soon wear off like it did with the Krispy Kreme hysteria and things will go back to normal.

Love this shopping mall. They always have nice kids activities during holidays and I have a good range of shops there. Less crouded than Lakeside and has a lot of parking. If Mayer and KMart were there it would be my only one stop 😊
Earl Pilgrim
I love the Whitfords shops. It's nice and bright, everything is laid out well, lots of cafes and easy to get a park. Nice atmosphere and the staff are always very nice, friendly, professional and helpful.

Surely something can be done to reduce the noise of the renovations???? The poor shops that are struggling with hardly any customers, are also having to deal with so much noise too! I was in Gloria Jeans to relax with a cuppa and the constant drilling noise from right outside their store was horrendous ☹️

I love that Whitfords has almost everything for a shopping mall.. Big W, Target, Dymocks, and a few designer shops like my favourite, Forever New but no world class brands like Burberry, Prada or Versace. It "almost" has everything!
Kiah Snell
Sort your parking out! It's not even Christmas yet and its a joke already! Joondalup wins hands down for building 2 multi story carparks BEFORE their expansion!

Come on Westfield get the escalator from the carpark up to the Piazza fixed. It's been broken for too long now. The lift smells like pee. Also the public toilets next to Rockmans are always smelly and unhygienic, and at times you would think you're in a 3rd world country. You charge tenants huge rent but don't like spending money to fix the basic services for customers.

Whitfords is normally our preferred shop but now many of the shops are closed Sunday arvo, I will be forced to go somewhere else.

Whoever has taken over the music selection playing over the PA this year is an absolute genius

Was upsetting to go and no hair dressers were open on a public holiday.

I won a $200 Westfield Gift Card & had a blast spending it. Each store that I went into accepted the card & everyone that helped me was lovely.
Chef Clark
Large range at a great price. Best if you go in as the food hits the train. If you have your concerns; fresh plates, they'll make it. Been twice in the new year. Will be going again.

I may have left a review on this place previously however 5 of us went the other day for lunch. The food was nice and fresh and the service was good. Some of the chicken dishes on the train were cold however it was still nice and not terrible. The sushi I had was fresh and nice. One of us ordered a special dish of the menu and it came quite quickly and was great. Over all $80 for the 5 of us and we were all full is a good price. We will definatley go back as it has become one of our favorite sushi places and we live over 20 minutes away.

So disappointing, now regretting trying a new sushi place.
I hate giving one star but this place was terrible and so expensive for the inedible plates of food we unfortunately selected from the sushi train.
Plate after plate - gross, or greasy. Highlight sighting was the salmon sashimi fanned our beautifully over a plastic ice pack. Barf.
The station we sat in had rubbish still and was sticky (like the bench hadn’t been wiped down in ages).
It was a busy Saturday lunch time and it took us ages to get seated and service (a drink). Having said that the staff there were really friendly and helpful once we got their attention.

Great food. Great service. Amazing prices. Best sushi train outside of Japan. The flavours are spectacular.

The spicy food is mild so don't be intimidated by the signage.

You will not regret making the trip

So good! Ryu is one of the best sushi trains I’ve been to in a while, such fresh food being made right in front of you and the best selection of sushi I’ve ever experienced. Great service and great prices for very good serving sizes. Would highly recommend.
Lara Emma
Went here for lunch, was very yummy but quite pricey. Although it’s a good treat for lunch, was about $20 without any drinks for me - this price was just from the sushi train, haven’t tried anything from the set menu yet :)
Davi
I had a takeaway chicken Katsu don today and it contains very little amount of rice. Flavor is good but it’s way too pricy!!!!! $15.80 for a tiny amount of rice and a few pieces of chicken katsu, disappointed.
Would rather get some sushi rolls from sushi sushi.
Em
Don’t go here at night, there are only a few trays of old sushi going around. Took one bite and left (still had to pay for the inedible sushi mind you).
Dan Verburgt
Attended for lunch, sushi train stops making fresh food at 1pm which is quite inconvenient. Also came across some items on the train that were listed as one colour plate on the menu, but on more expensive coloured plates on the actual train. Won't be returning.

Guys! No regret!! Been here without any expectation, but seriously offered the best japanese athentic cuisines!! Fried chicken was crunchy!! Although i fell apart the plate accidently!! Haha

This restaurant is one of my favourite i've ever been!!
Especially, grilled salmon was absolutely phenomenon! Texture was beautiful. Instead of going Jaws in CBD, I'm willing to go here, recommending to my friends. Their customer service is extraordinary and fantastic!!!
Helen
The best sushi place I've ever had, so many great varieties to choose from, also the staff was great and excellent service, recommend this place anytime 🙌🙌🙌
Dpizzy
This place has a good selection of sushi to choose from and always fresh every time I have been there. It can be a little pricey but it isn't bad at all
Hungry Hippo
Didn't have anything off the sushi train but instead ordered a couple dishes from the menu. We had the teriyaki chicken udon and teriyaki yaki beef noodle. Both were delicious and quite a large serving. The udon broth was probably the best miso based broth I've ever had.
PerthfectBreakfast
Decent sushi train with main meal options cooked to order as well. Plenty to choose from on the sushi train including brown rice sushi, low carb rolls with salad instead of rice and rice paper rolls.
DforDee
Freshly made and yummy sushi but a bit more expensive than (for example) jaws in the CBD. We had the karagge Udon & sushi off the train for lunch, spent about $40 between 2 people. I would eat here again if I'm in the area. Also provided are high chairs & somewhat pram friendly.

Came here today for lunch I really liked it. Will come again yummy sushi for Joondalup area compared to others around and so fresh. The tuna was beautiful.
Christopher Andrew
Over priced and not very satisfying. Karaage wasn't actual karaage it was more tempura chicken instead. $72 could have gotten us a LOT more at another sushi train. Most likely will not visit again.
JP
I've been here twice now and have quite enjoyed it. I wanted katsu sushi however there wasn't any on the train but they were happy to fresh make it for me. The sushi was delicious, filling and reasonably priced. However the only negative was that the EFTPOS was a $15 minimum. Overall a great place with great service and delicious sushi. Will be returning.

This restaurant is located in lake side Joondalup's shopping centre (food court-upstairs)
In term of service-they have excellent customer service
Hot Food...it's nice...
They have good variety food on sushi's train
I.live.to.eat
really yummy and interesting sushi combinations! only downside is the very high prices (some were almost $7 for 2 pieces). also not sure why but only some food has covers on them.
Izzy Alyce
The sushi here is fresh and tasty. Just had a chicken katsu sushi box here and can't complain for $6.50. Would definitely get sushi here again

Walked in for lunch at 1.30 ordered 3 hot dishes off the menu as well as eating off the sushi train, we wanted fresh octopus balls, pork gyoza and karage chicken. All were uncooked and raw in the middle, the chicken tasted off and chewy, we had to spit it out or we would have got very ill, the pork in the gyoza was raw very cold mince and the octopus was frozen in the centre. A very horrible experience, we told them, paid and left.

The sushi here is fresh, especially the sashimi, and very authentic.

The staff are direct from Japan, are always welcoming and quick to bring you your drinks.

Great place for a bite. Only negative is that it can be a tad pricey for some of the nicer dishes. Average around $25 per person.

I went not long after it opened. We sat in with two kids. Loved every mouthful. Fresh and interesting sushi on sushi train. Best in joondalup IMO
Chelsea
Politely greeted into the restaurant. Took a seat wherever we wanted. However. We had to get our own drinks from the drinks fridge. And after a good 10 minutes, I had to wave down the one waitress on the floor for a custom order. I did go at about 3pm, so the variety on the train was limited however good enough. I'd try another sushi train before hurrying back to this one. The prices aren't too bad. $45 for two people including drinks. Only like 6-7 plates.
LifestyleByLily
We were warmly greeted at the door and lead to a comfortable seat at the train.
There is a menu to indicate what each dish is and the plates are quite cheap but portions are very small.
The seared tuna was my favourite!
Melissa
Ho hum!. Limited variation and messy rolling.
Derekjoy
Its OK. But really missing good stuff at lunch time. Their menu card has lots of goodies but the train itself is very basic, very Perth suburban. Could be good - worth another try but at the moment is targeting the bland suburban market

Good to see a great place for sushi

Decent food outlets have finally arrived at Joondalup shopping centre and it is about time... Ryu Sushi Train is one such place. The sushi was fresh and being served by train is always fun. A cut above the other sushi places in the centre (especially Mikasa... yuk!) Still there was room for improvement. A bit more variety, less tinned tuna rolls, and some Japanese desserts on the menu would complete the experience. I don't know if people are put off by the sushi train but they deserve more customers.
The Chefs Wife
There are many more options at the Lakeside Food Terrace like Thai Thyme and it’s mountains of fresh veg, Sumo Salad, Dim Sum and then there’s Ryu. A sushi train has come to Joondalup!
