Review Jamaica Blue - Joondalup

Simply an outstanding little cafè. Good variety on the menu, and despite the place being so busy when I went there during the Boxing Day sales, their service was quick a d friendly. The cappuccino was made to perfection.

Quick service, very friendly, very clean place. Food and coffee were served at the right temperature. No complaints. Recommended definitely.

Had a nice soy latté with the Luxe Toasted Ham Cheese. The kitchen was busy though, so our coffees were well finished before the toasties arrived. Tables are properly cleaned between customers which is awesome.

Takeaway salmon quiche and fittata muffin for $25!? I had to double check the menu to make sure I was charged the right amount. Prices not displayed in the window so you don’t know what you’re paying until you’ve decided. This is out-flating inflation. Food was tasty but not worth the price. I won’t be coming here again.

We did not enjoy our experience at this Cafe. They had so many tables & chairs filling the Cafe making it very challenging for me to manoeuvre my walker between them, even the exit was blocked for me to leave. The coffee was weak and bitter.

I just like this place. Great coffee. I had ice caramel latte before, so good. Flat White, no doubt, just wishing they have chocolate cake or some nice cakes ..
Dianne Hyder
Lovely cafe with really nice meals. Worth every cent! Staff are friendly and coffees are great

Our visist was the quietest it's ever been. But we were happy to get somewhere to have a quick snack and drink. Tx for being open when many were closed.

The shopping mall is under renovation, but we couldn’t find a food court area. It just seemed like there were a few eateries shoved in the middle of the mall, and hence they were busy. We passed up going to the Coffee Club downstairs and ended up at Jamaica Blue upstairs. A generous mug of coffee, no latte art, and we had a slice of banana bread each, toasted, with a bit of butter served in a cup. It was tasty enough but I do find $5 for a piece of banana bread steep.

Popped into Jamaica Blue whilst shopping at Joondalup. Nice decor. Service was nice and prompt. Iced coffee could have been better and the blueberry crumble had a very odd taste to it.

<br/>Awful tasting coffee served at 100 degrees centigrade, abrupt service, overpriced, tasteless food clearly prepared and served half-heartedly. Will not be coming back.

Food good little pricey coffee ok but please clean or dump the fabric chairs they are filthy I was shocked to see customers still using them

Had a pleasant breakfast this morning. Staff were very accommodating and friendly. Only problem today was one dish came out way before the rest. Leaving the balance of the table to wait for their meal.

It'll cost you your first newborn and the inherirance your nana left you for a Long Black (6 bucks something for a regular). But their food is good and always had positive encounters with their staff.

Probably the 2nd best coffee in the centre, apart from CX. The food is pretty nice, but it would be close to the most expensive in the Centre also

Been there a few time and every time I said no more...today wasn't the exception, unfortunately. How many time do you have to give another shot, at it, before giving up?<br/>For me it was 4. <br/>Today I asked a Flat white with 1 sugar and asked" the milk, not boiling hot, as I want to enjoy it without burning my mouth. They replied " no problem, our milk is at max. 60c, sir..."<br/>Watching that girl behind the machine, my prediction was right, the coffee came boiling hot, you know the kind of Lava boiling hot. So I asked for cold milk to receive a look of death by this charming girl, who by the way, didn't even mix the sugar only giving a swirl at it. So now ,it was definitely my last go at it. <br/>Banned for life. For the rating I had no choice but give it a 1 or for me would have been a big "0"...

Very disappointed today. After waiting for twenty five minutes for the food was tiny and burnt. The wait staff looked very unhappy and put the food down without saying anything.<br/>Sorry to say that I won't be returning again, and I think that most of the other people who wee there today will follow suit. One table of customers asked for their money back and left!

Ordered an Ice chocolate and it was extremely horrible. Came out and it was at room temperature packed with syrup at the bottom with a load of cream at the top. Breakfast was real good other then that.

Good place to stop by for a quick coffee before you start your shopping but probably wouldn't go back for the food. I ordered the Ranch eggs which was a wrapped pita bread with chorizo, scrambled eggs, cheese and tomato. It was ok but nothing to rave about, I thought the side salad which consisted of mixed lettuce and some capsicum was a waste and not really needed. Back to the positives though- the coffee was really nice and worth the return visit.

Great food at affordable prices. I really enjoy their soup of the day. I really like their pumpkin soup, in my opinion they make the best pumpkin soup in Perth. <br/><br/>Late I have bought was not too strong and not too milky- very pleased. <br/><br/>Blueberry lodge dessert is always 100% fresh. <br/><br/>Great atmosphere, I never had any issues with appalling customer service there.

Terrible service. <br/>My Mum and I decided to have a coffee and something sweet after a few hours of shopping, and after catching a glimpse of the brownie in the cake cabinet at Jamaica Blue, we were sold.<br/>It was about 4:20PM and there were a few other tables occupied within the cafe. While I was paying for two coffees and a brownie at the counter, the supervisor  began to bark at the girl serving us, asking her if she told us that "WE'RE ONLY DOING TAKE AWAY COFFEES NOW". She hadn't, since it was only 4:20 PM. I waited patiently for my receipt while the two blatantly ignored me as they discussed not wanting to stay overtime as they wouldn't get paid.<br/>Eventually I realised that they were done with me so I meekly grabbed my table number and sat down. <br/>While we waited for our coffee, three more ladies came to the cafe and tried to order at the counter. The supervisor ignored them for a while, then rudely asked them if they wanted to order. When they said yes, she yelled at the other staff member to serve the ladies, to which the other staff member asked "You want me to serve?".<br/>Understandably the three women walked out of the cafe without ordering. They made the right decision.<br/><br/>Through the kitchen window I saw our brownie plated up with cream and fudge sauce, and was delighted to hear the ring of the bell, indicating it was ready to be served. None of the other staff seemed to hear it, though.<br/><br/>Our DINE-IN coffees arrived in TAKE AWAY cups, because apparently the staff didn't want to "wash up anymore" (they didn't seem to realise that the entire cafe could hear them), while our brownie sat waiting, alone, at the kitchen window.<br/><br/>Eventually I got up and served myself the brownie, which was actually delicious, but definitely not worth the absolutely appalling service.

Food is excellent, and affordable. Have been for two breakfasts of recent here. The food is really good. The process are reasonable.<br/><br/>I would suggest a visit.

Mmmm. Thought we would come here as my sister is here on holiday and I suggested here. What a mistake that was. My sister ordered raisin toast and they served her someone else's butter that had been used. We always come here and that is disgusting.

Bad experience. Ordered 5 coffees and onl y 4 arrived. Ordered yuice and received slushy? Ordered eggs Benedict ×2 and received it with no hollendaise sauce. Took the plates back and brought back the same cold meal with holledaise poared over it. <br/><br/>The likelyhood to return or recommend =0<br/>Very below average service and food quality. <br/><br/>Quite embarrassed to envite friends to this joint. Money and time well wasted

Great service and great food and special mentions to the indian boy who worked today! He made my experience one to remember! Will Definately be back

Coffee. Pretty average sorry not a fan

Very disappointing. I dropped in for lunch with my daughter today on what was a very busy shopping day. Had to wait ages for our order but fair enough it was very busy. When the two salt and pepper calamari salads arrived they looked stunning but after the first mouthful it was clear that they were extremely over salted. I took both plates up to the counter where the cook explained that they have had a couple of complaints about that particular dish as "they" haven't got the batter right. All we got was a sorry for that, no offer of another meal or refund, very poor customer service and very disappointing.

Great food and good coffee. Just being there this Sunday - although it is very busy but our food was delicious and good. They ran out many dishes but we managed to get the Specialty of the Day (BLT) with lot of bacon, tomato and lectures. Worth a go and try. We surely will be back and next round we will try their steak, burger and Bacon & Egg on Sourdough. Love it! - the shopping centre is big and it is worth to spend a day.

Coffee was pretty average, not a fan...long mac not a long mac..

Great service. Had a staff meeting in joondalup today. Although the cafe doesn"t really open until 8am, they got the chef to come in a little early to provide us with breakfast for the meeting for 7 people to be ready at 8am. Recommend the bacon and egg bagels, and the service was excellent. Thank you Jamaica Blue Joondalup.

Don't waste your money on there Food!!!!. Went here with sister she ordered beef salad and said it tasted like it had been sitting around for a while. I got a ham and cheese croissant, you think you can't go wrong with that but they didn't toast properly cheese was not melted and it was soggy and half bun underneath missing. I didn't complain as I had my four month old with me and didn't have time to wait on a busy Sunday for it to be remade. Disappointed will stick to miss maudes from now on.....

Yummy Food. I love the Ham Leek and Mushroom crepe and will be back for more.. We've only been in this cafe once but it didn't disappoint us. Service is a brilliant as their coffees..

Best Coffee experience. Going around the shopping center we decided to have a coffee and we're intrigued when one lady told us, Jamaica Blue has got the best coffee in the whole shopping center and so we tried it.. The place has a good ambiance and the staffs are very friendly. It is true indeed that they have the best coffee. There is no bitterness whatsoever in the flavor and we'll be back for sure.

Unpleasant Experience. Ordered the featured pork sliders and the pork flatbread. The sliders had a nice flavour but it was clear they had microwaved the buns and the pork practically throwing everything on the plate. Took one bite of the flatbread and couldn't eat it- the filling mushy and old, did not taste nice at all. Not much care taken with both meals.<br/><br/> After explaining to the woman in charge about the flatbread instead of being polite and understanding she talked very rudely to me, leaving me quite upset. After this I explained how I had already been waiting over 30mins for hot chips as well, getting a half apology. The waitress on shift was lovely and polite however I didn't appreciate her boss snapping at me for being displeased with my meal.<br/> A waste of my time and money, not at all a nice atmosphere with bells ringing for the same meals (getting cold on the countertop) every 30 seconds. Staff were rushing and generally unpleasant, messy tables and cramped feeling in store, I didn't get a nice vibe at all from this place which is unfortunate. Does Saturday rush mean that any common sense for good customer service and polite communication has to be disregarded, simply because staff are busy?

Sad little mini burgers. Great looking place, and nice coffee. We went for the pulled pork mini burgers as they were well advertised and looked nice. The buns were hard and a bit stale, pork nearly non existent, no beet root crisps as they explained to us they didn't have any( on a weekend!). Very disappointing.

Awful. Partner had the steak sandwich. We got a paper thin bit of steak that was "glued" together- easy to spot when you go to cut out a chunk of fat and the steak comes apart into chunks. Disgusting. After he cut off the fat, there were two small rounds left. The bread was too thick and doughy. He said the whole sandwich had a "lemony" flavour and since I could taste soap in mine, it's safe to say that both dishes were contaminated with dish soap. <br/><br/>My dish was the calamari salad. It was 5 rings of calamari which were cooked well, but the rest of the salad consisted entirely of bean shoots. I think I had a whole bag. Very little else was on the plate, besides a few strips of capsicum and a tiny amount of lettuce. The sauce was a garish orange colour which is only indicative of packet sauce. How hard is it to make a homemade Asian dressing for a salad?<br/><br/>The drinks were fine, but my milkshake was lukewarm. <br/><br/>We left more than half of the food on each plate and walked out. Not good enough for $44 when you can get fantastic food at any one of the restaurants in Joondalup for the same price. I know the place has only been open for a little while and might be finding its feet, but if these are the standards a month after opening I am scared what they will be 6 months from now. If the staff can't handle the pressure on a busy Saturday they need to address that too. It took over half an hour to get our meals. <br/><br/>We will not be back. <br/><br/>(I would have reviewed this on Tripadvisor where I am a senior contributor but they didn't have a listing for this establishment yet).

I can't hate on this cafe anymore than I do. The decor is gorgeous, the coffee is great. This is where it ends for me. The first time I tried it there were egg shells in my breakfast, and mustard in my toasted sandwich. On it's second chance I asked for my sandwich to only be ham and cheese and kindly asked specifically for no mustard since last time there was and thought possibly it was just their "thing" ..the waitress then adamantly insisted they don't put mustard in their sandwiches and got nasty at me when I said there was last time. She then countered with "we don't even keep mustard on the premises!!" When another waitress overheard her, she quietly corrected in her ear that their sandwiches are all pre prepared containing mustard. I got a half asked apology. The third and final time e ordered two meals. Zucchini and feta frittatas. Dry. Cold. Chewy. Old. Chucked on a plate. the other meal was a toasted Turkish chicken bread roll. It was dry and disgusting. We took the top off and couldn't believe what we saw. Stale and dry (Refer to picture) To add to all of this we were done with our meals and our coffee and bottled orange juice still hadn't arrived. Final straw. I want to like it there I truly do. But I can't. Overpriced and horrible service. I've tried to make contact via email because in my experience the owners appreciate feedback, regardless. No reply to my request to be contacted by them regarding a complaint and constructive criticism. So many nicer places to spend your money in lakeside.

My husband and I had a CHAI LATTE' on Mother's day at the JAMAICA BLUE Joondalup cafe' - it was the BEST CHAI LATTE' we both have ever had - I did compliment the owner and he was happy with the compliment. Will definitely go back there again and take my friends.

Poor poor. I've had take-out coffee previously that was really nice so decided to go for breakfast with my husband and daughter. Terrible to be honest, staff inexperienced and struggled to take order. We were first in and waited a good time for breakfast so rush hour must be a disaster! Our food was all cold, all 3 meals, the sausages were burnt, egg rubbery and dry. All 3 plates had unbuttered cold toast (virtually not edible) I asked if we could just have some butter. The young waitress said 'we have run out, but if you want I can get someone to stop what they are doing and go and buy some', she wasn't joking either!! Awful, wouldn't recommend it until they have ironed out all the problems, like ordering butter!! Shame as the coffee is nice.

The cook can't cook and is RUDE RUDE RUDE!. My brother and I took my Mum here for a quick bite to eat yesterday before we went to the movies for her birthday. We ordered the scrambled eggs and two steak sandwiches. After about 20 minutes one steak sandwich and the eggs were served. My eggs were dry and sitting on what resembled and tasted like stale bread rather than toast. The dry, cold, overcooked eggs were covering the bread, yet on the side was a small dish with rock hard butter. My brother asked for tomato sauce on his steak sandwich but instead got tomatos. The waitress said that the other steak sandwich would be "out in a minute". After waiting a few minutes we decided to start eating our meals while Mum waited for her sandwich. 15 minutes later (as we were finishing our meals) my Mum kindly told the waitress that she would like to cancel her order and we were on a time constraint. The polite waitress said she would tell the kitchen and just as she walked off the 'cook' appeared from the kitchen with her order. My Mum again started to explain that because she had to wait so long, she didn't have time to eat it. Without saying a word or allowing her to finish what she was saying, he rudely turned his back on us and returned to the kitchen. By the way my brothers steak sandwich was "yuk" (like my eggs) anyway. We were so disgusted in his attitude that we mentioned how rude the 'cook' ( I use that term very loosely) was. Without naming them, the waitress smiled and said "yes he is rude". First of all, if the cook is going to have such an attitude, he should at least be able to back it up with his cooking skills and ability to serve two steak sandwiches at around the same time. Secondly, he should have apologised us having to wait so long instead of walking away while my Mum was politely explaining why she didn't want his dodgy steak sandwich. The franchise owners of the new Jamaica Blue in Joondalup shopping centre (South Mall) should hire a new cook if they want their business to survive.

Lovely little cafe for a coffee and cake. This cafe is one of the new editions to the Lakeside Joondalup Shopping South Mall development. It's a small cafe but has some nice little features making this cafe feel somewhat trendy for Joondalup. Great place for a coffee catch up with mums and mates.

Not a good start. Staff yet to handle off peak times, would hate to see them during lunch rush. For a coffee place, I would've liked a decent coffee and the pasta was rubbery and cold by the time it made it out. I'm not sure why, I'm surrounded by empty tables, where's the hold up.. perhaps the empty tables were a clue.
