Review Hog's Australia's Steakhouse - Joondalup

Allan 'Big Al' Connolly
Pretty dissappointed with the very ordinary meals to be honest..... Steak beautiful and tender, but lacked flavour without the sauce..... Ceaser Salad was swimming in sauce and Sweet Potato Wedges were just ordinary.

Decent food and family friendly environment. Service was a little slow but the staffs attitude more than made up for it. Steak was not hot enough.

My partner and I recently moved to Perth from Geraldton, where the local Hogs Breath restaurant is wonderful. Tonight was our one year anniversary so we figured after going to grill'd a few times that we would try the Hogs Breath Restaurant in Joondalup. Immediately upon walking in, the restaurant was dimly lit and there were tables with leftovers from customers sitting on them. We were sat at a booth for two people next to the bar and, to my horror, there were literally names carved into the table. On top of this, our glasses for water were dirty looking and our table was extremely dimly lit. We ordered the Double Paradise beef burger and the chicken dijonese. My partner asked for the sauce to be on the side, rather than on the chicken. When our meals arrived, my partner's meal got sauce on top of it along with a small tub of sauce on the side. My burger was incredibly sad looking, and the pattes were honestly worse than what you would expect in a meal from McDonald's or Hungry Jack's. The pattes had obviously been frozen, and were extremely dry, bordering on the point of being hard. This meal cost us $52 and I will definitely not be returning to Hogs Breath Joondalup.

In excess of three dollars for a minuscule potato skin? Are you kidding me? Me and my wife felt really bad because we invited a couple of friends who never been to a Hoggs Breath restaurant before , telling them how good it was. We ordered entry plates just to chat, before ordering but what a shame! 30 dollars for 4 minuscule potatoes, cut just the skins with very little filling. We have been eating at Hoggs Breath for more than 15 years and we always loved the ambience and the fair prices. The ambience, the always friendly staff were still there and is always great. But this time the prices were not fair for what the plates were. My friend is a chef in Australia and he was indignanted about the price for 4 potato skins in a decorated plate. I am sorry, but we felt robbed. You lost a client. Bye!

Totally love the place. Friendly staff greeted us upon entering. Generous servings. Delicious food. Kids menu comes with free ice cream. Worth the visit.

First time eating at a hogs breath, was very pleased with the service and food. Staff were very friendly and service was fast. Food was tasty and reasonably priced. Would go back

Dining on a Saturday afternoon the restaurant was a lot quieter than I expected. I opted for the steaks and rib combo, after a 35 minutes wait for two people the food arrived, it looked underwhelming and certainly was. Both my friend and I had overcooked steak and a poor sizing of sides, the ribs where dry and had barely any glazing. For the price and wait you certainly expect a lot a better. They offered to re cook the steak however I wasn't willing or able to wait that long. They then attempted to charge us full price for meals that hadn't been ate, we were left with a foul taste in our mouth from the whole experience. They seriously need to go their game in an area full of dining options however I don't see Hogs breath being around much longer.

Came here for dinner with my husband last night after not having been for a few years due to the slow service and messing up almost every order of our group. Thought it had been a long enough stretch to give it another go but was a little disappointed. The staff were friendly but the time it took for the food to come out was way too long and it wasn't overly busy. I ordered the Avocado and Bearnaise Chicken with mashed potato. The menu described the chicken dish as having two breasts of chicken which sounded a bit much. When I received my meal there seemed to be no effort on presentation. Also the 'two chicken breasts' ended up being two thin fillets which I doubt even would have even made up one whole breast. This also made them a little overcooked and dry. The amount of sauce that came with the meal was just enough to maybe last till halfway through the meal and the mountain of potato mash took up at least a third of the plate. It's a good thing it tasted really nice. Will not rush back here.

Used to be frequent diners at Hog's Mindarie until the food went downhill and of course cafe is now closed. To use up birthday vouchers, thought we'd try the Joondalup cafe as heard it had a recent 'facelift'. It's been about 5+ years since we'd been there and I can say it's not much different - still not very clean either. The wait staff were friendly and accommodation, however, the food still isn't great. When dining out we always ask for 'hot' chips and did so again at Hog's, however, chips (for both of us) came out cold (not surprising) and the rest of the meal was barely warm. For a steakhouse, the steaks still aren't that great either.Sorry Hoggies, we won't be visiting again - probably for another 5 years. Very disappointing.

So so goood! Been here so many times for the 29.90 three course meal!! 10/10 so yummy ! Steak is perfectly cooked and the staff very attentive :)

After waiting an hour for food and watching 6 tables who came in after us, being served up to 20minutes before us. The staff had the audacity to use their “new” staff as an excuse, when they had clearly forgot our meals. The meals were a disgrace, the steaks were over cooked/burnt and the chicken wasn’t cooked properly, almost raw. Would not recommend ever coming here.

We are regulars! They know our face as soon as we walk in! Great food excellent staff! Best Hogs Breath I have been too, attentive staff members. Get the chicken Parmi you won't regret it.

We came here for lunch and got the $9.95 lunch special. I ordered the hot dog and my friend got the beef wrap. Pretty average but couldn't complain as it was so cheap! Friendly service and family friendly.
Bree Anna
Great restaurant, kid friendly better to go when they aren't so busy I like there salmon, chips and salads. The burgers are nice to. There have some good cocktails like mudslide and Long Island Iced tea.

Visit 1. Had the Hawaiian chicken. Was nice, not enough chips tho. Daughter had the ceaser wrap. Was also nice.
Visit 2.. Took my daughter for lunch, we both ordered the crispy chicken burger, when we ordered the waitress asked if we would like to add egg and bacon to our burger. We said sure, no problem. The burger was amazing, probably one of the Nicest I've ever had, chips were soggy and not many of them. So comes time to pay the bill it seems expensive, when I check the receipt they have charged us $4 each for a slither of bacon and $3 each for egg on our burgers! That's $14 to add those. No warning beforehand. Also ordered sauces which were the size of 50 cent pieces and were charged $2.50 each. Apart from the extra $20 odd dollars I had to pay for small extras, the meal was nice and may return.

Compare to other Hog's, this branch still have a lot need to work on. The lobster was not fresh, deep fried things not crispy. Wont be my choice to dine if I'm in that area.

4 Adults 1child tonight
Service good but food very poor. 2 of us had the "prime" steak. Sorry to say no way was this stringy piece of meat any kind of prime cut. Our dogs have enjoyed it though. 2 of us had a burger and the buns were so stale they were inedible.
1 of us had the pork ribs and they were delicious.
We were honest when waitress asked if we had enjoyed and received 25% discount off meals.
I've got to say for a specialised steakhouse it was really appalling.
Won't ever go back
Bird
Was really looking forward to a great meal but wasnt impressed. The food is average and dont get as many fries as you used too. Staff were attentive but kept trying to upsell everything asking if we wanted to add bacon, egg, pineapple and onion to every burger we ordered. Dont recomend plenty of better places to eat.
Andy Ollie
Poor service on a Friday night.
The food was extremely poor
Salad consisted of out of the bag coleslaw mix with 2 slivers of rocket
Steak was over cooked
And a slice of avocado was hard.
Taint Roberts
Where do I begin... Firstly we received a warm welcome at the saloon, with the most upmost respect. The hostesses set us up with some in flight entertainment (cheesy garlic bread x4 plus cheese). We browsed the menu jumping from page to page, each page more taintalising than the last. We couldn't believe our eyes, it was just perfect.

After successfully completing the 500gram steak challenge (between the four of us of course) we washed it down with a Long Island ice tea. Delicious!

Thanks Hogs Breath for another bang up job. Yeeeha!!!!

Snazzy
The food is not the highest of quality especially the Meat you can certainly tell it is a cheaper cut, the fries look like scraps they are broken up bits and pieces, the staff are attentive however standing on a sticky floor when trying to pay is not a good look, after giving this place another go after a year, I won't be back I would rather pay premium prices for better quality food!!
Jay Chavda
Disappointing food and service! Group of 5 and all our meals were below par! Medium steak was over cooked and more like well done! Lamb shanks were bland and smelt off! Salmon had no taste and burgers were dry! Would never go there again!
TheKnifeForkSpoonAndStraw
Have dined here many times and always leave very happy. I love the comfortable atmosphere, staff are always great and meals are served swiftly and correctly. The steak meals are their highlight, I can't resist the 'Hickory Prime Rib' after enjoying the 'Cheesy Bread' for starters. The smokey BBQ sauce is great and the salad/vegetable side option works well with their steaks. Definitely the most consistent restaurant I have visited in Joondalup, never disappointed. Well done!
Jess
I have always been a big fan of Hog's Breath over the years but sadly don't enjoy it as much these days. Staff are friendly enough and the food is okay but not brilliant. The $10 lunch deals are good value but the quality of food isn't great. I want to love Hog's Breath again but sadly I haven't had too many good experiences lately.
Lovefooood
This is a great place to enjoy a succulent steak amongst other things. Love coming here to have a nice meal, just wish I could afford it more often. Good prompt service.
Bree Gray
The steaks are AMAZING! I ordered medium rare. It was more like medium, but it melted in my mouth! Possibly the best steak I've ever had!! Great value for money. I got the lean serving, which was about $25. It was more than enough for me. Can't wait to go back!!
Asian's Taste
Woohoo yummm...we had a great dinner tonight. Love their customer service. Their steak is nice and soft.
Pork ribs -delicious too
Calamari from the kids menu was nice and crunchy
Love their fries tail and fried sweet potato 😊😊😊😊😊
Thekittaysmeow
The only reason I ate my meal is because i was starving after waiting here for 30mins.
Had the garlic prawns & prime rib steak. I feel like my steak was boiled or something.. no flame grill to it at all, was really mushy, my partners was the same. The only saving grace of this meal was the curly fries. Yuck. Wont be back! Bad service and bad food. Pick your game up hogs breath, you used to be at least a 3.
Kieron Hunter
Every time I come here, it's always great. I've been to most steakhouses in Perth, and despite the below comments, I always enjoy it here. The steaks are fine, helped a bit by the sauces they use. The caesar salad and curly fries are great side dishes. I wouldn't recommend the ribs, Rib and Burger is much better and cheaper. But for a decent sized meal, it's not a bad price with the 25% discount. Service has always been good for me. If there's just 2 of us, we're always fully fed in under 45mins. Haters will hate, but I love the place.
Hard Candy
Reviewers that rate Hogs Breath greater than 2 simply have not experienced a good steakhouse of any description, or have more money than sense. Last night - Full rack of bony ribs (1kg of bones) $45...no char and possibly Sweet Baby Ray's sauce squeezed all over the top....yep been there done that in the midweek zone with pressure-cooked ribs with sauce from my fridge too. Veges.....McCain frozen variety nuked, bit of butter. Same quantity of ribs, smoked to perfection for $22 at Old Faithful. Noisy enough so you cannot hear the children, beer cheap enough ($8) to assist with the aforementioned and at the till. A la carte Sizzler.

Meeting friends who were travelling from the south coast up to Geraldton, Joondalup was a good place to catch up and have an early lunch. Hog's Breath was their choice as they had heard good reports. None of us were impressed with the reality though. It was 11.30 when we arrived and the restaurant was nearly empty, but it still took 20 minutes for our order to be taken. Food when it finally arrived was far from hot, very average and not worth the money charged. Won't be going back.
Wulan Sucipto
Love the prime ribs steak, they are so tender and juicy. It'sbeen slow cooked for about 18hrs. The place is nice and the staffs are friendly.
Food For Thought..
Fantastic service from Nimba ? Apologies if I have got you're name wrong. She was attentive, friendly and knew her stuff. I love the way she sat with us in the booth to take our order. 3 steaks were ordered and they were cooked to perfection. The vegetables and prawns were fresh and tasty. Coming here was a pleasant surprise, and I look forward to returning soon.

This is another place that was roaring in the late 90's/early 00's and has faded away as more skilled restaurants have opened and the "TV chef" craze has taken off. I had enjoyed many a meal here but the service started to drop and the quality of food either stayed the same or declined. What was once an exciting place to go now feels like visiting your Aunties house where you know exactly how everything is going to be and nothing changes.

I decided to wait overnight to write this review to try and find something optimistic. However that hasn't happened. But they lived up to their Tagline by the toilets - not just dinner, an experience. Not sure if this is a warning or motivation as you head into the toilets...

Unfortunately the experience involved dinner. Rob, our server (not waiter for he had no intention of waiting) was actually short for Robot, so fast and unengaging as he was. Neither did he tell us that several of his rapid fire questions (fries, veges, sauce, bacon, avocado) had prices attached. Well done Robot, $15 in upselling for you.

He did talk us into 3 kids meal packages which were great.... But actually free because kids eat free midweek. But Rob didn't know that.

Our steaks were rubbish. 18 hrs marinating, but not cooked under enough heat to sear the fat in a rib eye. Hence we had a cool, gelatinous mass through the middle. The steak itself was tender and well presented - but not hot. One thing that was cooked enough was our veges. Sitting in the Bain Marie of death out the back, they limped onto our plates and we had to lure them onto our forks because they broke if we tried to stab them.

The sauces were weak, and mass produced. No skill there.

Robot came and asked for more drinks, then had to be convinced to take our empty plates because he had other things to do. We ordered the kids desserts too - we never got to order ourselves any because the kids ones had ordered, arrived and were finished before Robot came back to take our order - no, it wasn't busy.

Finally if you ask a kid if they'd like chocolate, caramel or strawberry ice cream, they expect chocolate, caramel or strawberry ice cream. And we know you have it because it's on your sundaes menu. Don't bring 3 bowls of vanilla ice cream with a squirt of sauce - it's disappointing.

So overall I think this is, unfortunately, going the way of Sizzlers reputation from the past. We remember it well as kids, then as adults it's nothing but disappointment.

The service here is always very friendly, and I haven't experienced a wrong or forgotten order, so that's always a plus. The food is good. The staff are helpful when you're trying to decide on cocktails. The Mississippi Mud Cake tastes slightly different here to other locations - I think it's that it's not quite as sweet.
Susan Hoskins
The wait staff were excellent but the food was truly diabolical. I had the traditional rib steak. It was meant to be marbled with fat. Alas it was surrounded with 1 cm of pale yellow fat which continued thoughout the steak. I managed to cut four mouthsful. I shouldn't have bothered there was no seasoning or flavour. It tasted like something that had been cooked in a slow cooker. It certainly hadn't seen a grill and look nothing like the pictures on the menu. I left it on the plate, paid and left. It was a birthday meal for my husband who hates making complaints. after we left he said he wasn't so good either but his had flavour from the bbq sauce on the ribs.

Decent cheap place to eat in Joondalup, portion sizes are quite big and definitely value for money. It is not fine dining but you get what you pay for. Some of the lunch specials are very decent and it is a cheap way to feed the family. Lacking some little touches for example the mens toilets were quite dirty and one of my drinks did go missing, never to be had until it came time to pay the bill. Overall would go back.

Hogs Breath - JoondalupWaitress was nice enough. But no point having nice waitresses when serving garbage. Absolutely disgusting.Entrée - Fried chicken wings - Dry old drumsticks which were a funny brown colour on the outside and then a strange grey on the inside so we sent them back after trying them.Main - Steak with king prawns. Do not refer to them as king prawns unless you are going to serve king prawns, they were farmed imported small vannamei prawns. Garlic sauce was snot, no flavour at all, tasted like milk and cornflower maybe? Steak, this was the stand out for the night, awful. the worst steak I've ever eaten. It smelt and tasted like old raw meat. Possibly like Hog's breath. Was very very dry. Ribs - Thank god these were edible. Though when placed in front of me I couldn't help but notice that they were cooked ribs, with just some sauce poured on top. In the picture they look so much nicer as they have been cooked with the sauce on and look sticky and delicious. Which brings me to my next point, don't put photos of amazing looking food on your menu and then serve something which looks nothing like it. Nothing we received looked anything like the pictures. The "chicken wings" we got looked more like rotten little drumsticks. My husband had to spend a fair bit of time in the toilet before we could leave, and we both spent the rest of the night on the toilet. The manager took the "chicken wings" off the bill, and our comments about being sick were ignored.Dessert was nice.To the owner of this restaurant, you need to take your business more seriously. You are serving expensive food which caused food poisoning.

Went for an early lunch today. Food was okay and service was also okay. Was a little but slow, I think they struggle with larger tables. One of my mates order went missing and he didn't get his lunch when we all did. Socks but they were apologetic which was nice.
FARMERdroo
The food is good, always has been.
Desserts are awesome.
The service is good when there isn't a big group. We have been a few times in a large group and the wait staff have gotten confused and end up forgetting to cook enough meals

The only let down is the wait staff
Other than that it's pretty good

Highly recommend any of their prime rib dishes.
Some Like It Hot
It is a chain but have to say I enjoyed the food. Had the cheeseburger with curly fries. We also shared a big rack of ribs with BBQ sauce. Not a bad option if you are looking for a junk food hit. Would go again. Waiting staff very nice and helpful.

Went there as a last resort last night. THE worst food I've had in a long time. The pasta looked and tasted like cold Latina brand pasta you buy in the supermarket. The other meals my friends had looked like a train wreck . The restaurant is really on par with a cheap takeaway provider. I will never come back nor recommended this.
Joe Chivers
I Have been to Hogs Breath for dinner and lunch and both times have been underwhelming! The service is very good but the food is definitely not. I won't be visiting again.
JP The Foodie
Good service but terrible food. This is only good if you like paying $10 for over-processed mince meat in a bun, shrouded with chips. Spend the extra $5 and go to Grill'd instead.

What was once a wonderful dining experience is now painful

Whenever friends suggest going to Hogs breath Joondalup, it's met by groans of pain. Service is terrible, waiters confused, orders mixed up and food under cooked.

I did get food poisoning from their fish a few years ago from under-cooked fish.

The next occasion we went for an anniversary dinner, it took them an hour to bring our food out, it was only a steak and a salad and the restaurant was mostly empty.

We avoid like the plague, you can get better food elsewhere.

Smelly Food. Food so smelly I thought my meat would come back to life. I don't know why I eat chose here as food was like breath of hog. Steak very small, must be small cow and chip no good., must be one potato. We no go back no more.

Regards,
清颐康
S. Ching

Thumbs up. I live near here and its one of the best dining experiences without fail. Great service and food is always top notch!
Steak Or Chicken Guy
CRAP - AGAIN. Don't know .... CRAP - AGAIN.

Don't know hiw I keep getting roped into going back here. How can a steakhouse have such poor steaks! Last x4 outings have all been terrible. The prime cuts are the worst Pieces of meat I have ever had and are never cooked properly. So this time I ordered the medium fillet as at least it is a good cut- unfortunately I got small piece of meat that was charcoaled on all sides..... I give up - will never go here again. Even if my family wants to go here for another Birthday - I will be boycotting

Decent, restraunt is lovely. We decided to go down to the hogs breath cafe in joondalup, for valentines day, I myself had the fish and chips which tasted good but was a small portion, never the less my partners chicken dish was great, which I Finished off for her, she asked for chips but instead received a spud, anyway it was a good time and we enjoyed ourselves, thank you for the hospitality :)
Food 2 Run
Nothing special quick bite and slow service...

Love the staff and their attentiveness, but I find the music of this place too loud. But food is just okay but overpriced for what they are. It's pretty average but cheaper restaurant can compete with Hog's Breath. This is twice I've eaten at Hog's Breath but different branches (Northbridge and Joondalup). I can't recommend it for prices really, just doesn't cut it for me.
Chasingcalifornia
Average.. The service here was great. Unfortunately, the food did not match. Over-priced for basically, steak and chips. The steak was tough, nothing interesting about the salad.
Sammieh72
Great burgers. I've been to all the licensed places in Joondalup and this is by far the best place for a burger and beer.Easy atmosphere, ok service, great value lunches .

Rude Staff and Fatty Steaks. Went here on a Saturday around 5, we were asked how long we thought we would be staying even though it wasn't that busy, and then taken to a table next to a corner of a very large and noisy group. Waiter was rude and unhelpful. Have to pay extra for sauce - ridiculous. Food came and steak was horribly fatty and overcooked. Chicken tenders were accompanied by a less than desirable honey mustard sauce. We were going to stay for dessert but felt rushed because we had been asked how long we were going to stay. Definitely not coming back, overpriced, bad food and awful service.
Cheese
Ranchious steaks. Really had a hankering for a steak so headed in to Hogsbreath, a little on the late side of service. I was a bit put off at first, by the foodhall smell my sniffer detected upon seating. Needs a good wipe down with some lemony fresh cleaner-sorry to have to say that but it's true.
Steaks were very nice; chose veges - corn, carrots and broccoli, all nice
but hubby got a big lump of unmashed potato in his mash.
My curly fries and calamari were also very nice.
Staff were friendly and attentive, and sevice was fast. Atmosphere relaxed laidback casual.
All in all a satisfied customer who will return, a bit earlier next time so I can order the 40 minute veal ribeye.
Jack
Medium rare calamari prime rib with fries and ceaser salad and a jack and coke thanks. comes out like fifteen minutes with a smile. can't ask for much more than that. love this joint
Rehn
Love the food and service have been to lots of Hogs Breaths as good place to take the family. Everyone gets what they want, how they want it
Jodie
Went to the Joondalup store and highly disappointed. My meat was undercooked and tasted terrible. The curly fries weren't cooked (some were still slightly soggy!!) and had a dishwashy taste. The salad wasnt much to rave over either. Suffice to say I hardly ate much and ended up getting takeaway on the way home. Out of the 10 of us at dinner, only one person enjoyed their meal and they'd had the ceaser salad. Won't be back.
Darren
Well, after the negative reviews I read, my wife and I headed out to eat with some trepidation.
Now, I can be a fussy bugger, but HONESTLY ...did the negative reviews eat in the same establishment as us?
Yes, the food IS simple, but the quality of the 18 hour slow cooked steak was EXCELLENT! Service was good to very good and the price was SURPRISINGLY reasonable.
Tge staff were friendly and professional.
Ic your after cuisine NOPE; but if your after a decent feed with a smile YEP!
Will we go baxk, MOST DEFINITELY!!!
The Lee's
The meal was horrendous! I was actually really hungry and I couldn't even bring myself to eat the meal that was served up. Steaks were overdone, and the food was fried to the point where it was of a concrete texture. Had a meal there a few years ago and this was even worse. We will never ever eat there again and interesting enough when discussing how bad the meal was whilst in the shopping centre after another lady joined in and told us her bad experience there.
HM
We waited 90 min for our main courses to arrive. The steaks were overlooked and tasteless and the seafood was raw!
Got an apology, free drinks and discounted food bill ... but definitely won't be back. Very disappointing meal!

2nd chance proves itself. Hmm, after a year hiatus from a bad experience, the young boss coerce us into having dinner here again.

Ok, so what is the worst that can happened? I post a review on Urbanspoon lamenting the service or lack thereof and the quality of food that is akin to leather boots.

We arrive at 6 pm with no reservations on a Saturday. Yes, I like to stack the odds in my favour! Amazingly enough, the server consulted her sitting plan and show you to a table in about 30 seconds. There was no remarks about not having a reservation or I have 15 minutes to finish my meal so that I can vacate the table for the next customer. That's a good start.

Sat down at table. Menus were given to us, daily specials explained, server (Becky) introduced herself, made recommendations and left us to decide what we want.

The young boss had the steak and curly fries. For once, the steak was of an adequate size with a good serve of chips and a bowl of tomato sauce. This came with a kid serve of soft drink and 2 scoops of ice cream. For $12.95, I think it was a fair deal.

The boss had the prime rib steak (lite serve) with calamari. I felt that the calamaris were a left down but the steak itself was good. The boss was struggling to finish it. Serve of vegetables was nice - carrots, corn cob and broccoli. I had the prime rib steak and baby back ribs. After trying the baby back ribs, I was kicking myself for not ordering the baby back ribs instead. It was good! Meat was falling off the bone, sauce was smoky and succulent. Prime rib steak? Oh that. It was alright. Too much fat but the cooking was to my expectation.

One thing that I will suggest - order a sauce for the prime rib steak. Given it's size, if you elected to go without like we did, we found it hard. Thankfully the young boss had his tomato sauce that we pillage and plunder.

Well, I was satisfied with my serve of meat for today. The boss and the young boss were both happy. I am glad to say that this experience totally cancelled out the previous bad experience that we had. Now if only it was not that far, I would visit it more often.

Love the food, hate the wait. Popped in their for lunch couple of day's ago and ordered a curly fries entrée and a mega macho nachos for a main.
They were quick in bringing out both drinks and entrée and the chips were nice as were the dip that came with it. Then Thirty Min later i am wondering where our main's are. I ask the waitress where they are and five Min later they arrive and were delicious.
Upon complaining we did get the drinks free but would have preferred quicker service.

Final Score: 7
Mr Wa
18h Slow cooked steaks. Been here many times with and without the kids, always felt welcome and so far haven't had a single order mistake or excessive wait. You cant beat that 18h slow cooked steak it's simply the best and keep us coming back again and again.
Zoe Smith
Ridiculous service, gross food and expensive cost. Will not go there again. The food took ages too. Was not impressed
Curry Hound
Reasonable. The food was not bad

The waitress had no clue about customer service. First she asked what we wanted about 1 minute after given the menu. Later she grabbed my empty plate as she passed by. My friend was still eating.

We felt like we were being rushed out the door even though the restaurant was about 1/3 full
Nathan Clarke
Gave benefit of the doubt, 1st time went serving size was reasonable, both my wife and I had steak (I had a combo meal) asked how I would like my steak cooked (MR plz) wen it came out I really did wonder why the F*@% did they ask my my steak was almost paper thin plus both our steaks had a lot more fat than meat. left it a few months before deciding 2 go back (coz mates birthday was there) ( & thought everywhere/body has an OFF day) & again out of the group all the people who chose steak had a problem with it... NEVER GOING BACK!! on a good note their curly fries taste goooood, but that's it..
Chez Wa
Steaks are the only thing they can cook, but make sure you appreciate the cut of meat they use (its a bit fatty). Drinks are okay. Service isn't as good as it use to be. They clear our plates when I was still holding a full fork, wouldnt change mash to chips. They have cool things to look at and that might be the highlight.
Anna Mills
Eat here often. Food is good and staff are always attentive.

For what it is... Tuesday November 6 Lunch

Good value for steak and crayfish.. lunch special!
Good serving sizes..
Loathe the sticky table and menus..

Ask how much extras are!. Don't get avocado on your $10 lunch as it costs $3.00!!!! Admittedly they do put nearly a whole avocado on there.

Great service and everything else was good value for money.
Vik Jeyakumar
Absolute joke! Ordered chicken wings that were burnt to a crisp, the prime rib was grossly overcooked. When I advised the waitress she advised in a nonchalant manner "umm so"? Not the sort of service and meal you'd pay over $35 per plate. Never again!!

Great Value. Me and my partner frequently dine at hogs breath joondalup and mindarie. The service is great 80% of the time, they are slow sometimes. The steaks are always very good, for entree make sure you go for the potato skins, they are awesome. Dont expect 5 star service at a family restaurant, you definately get more than what you pay for at hogs breath.

Wow. Hogs breath joondalup is the best place ever the food is amazing and the waitresses are incredible.

Unknowledgeble staff. Went for lunch this week with the girls from work for a catch up. asked what the fish of the day was and told it was schnapper as i wanted it grilled instead of the potato i asked if i could have extra salad and told no i will have to pay extra. after eating my meal the fish was mushhy and grey and just plain inedible i did mention it to the waitress and said that was not schnapper she replied no its barramundi i told her the story and she apologized and gave me a free coffee and a scoop of icecream for my friends daughter.

Too much of a rush. Had dinner here last night with my boyfriend and a mate. Service was fast i tell ya.. When our meals came out my bbq steak was just over powered with TOO much sauce.. :/ and the carrots, what was with them??
Joondalup Assassin
Awful. Slow service. Curly fries taste cheap and mass manufactured. Burger was clearly a frozen patty. Poor service. Very over priced and not as described.

Great and lovely place. Fantastic food but the portion for the tower for two a little bit disappointing especially the salad. And ribs are awesome!!!!!

Most wine on list not available, dirty glass (twice), scruffy manager and terrible food. Avoid.

$48 of pure disappointment. This the 3rd time I've been to this place and the second time in a row I've felt ripped off by the really poor quality of food and lack of care shown by the 'chef'. I had the famed prime rib steak which was approximately 33% pure fat, tough and chewy, with the small ribs which were very ordinary. The veg was rock hard and the mash lacked flavour. The service was fast and friendly though, it's what goes on in the kitchen that's the problem.

Went for dinner and while the food was good it is nothing I'd hurry back for. Food service was great but drinks took a while to get to the table. All in all not bad though.

Their specialty, the slow cooked prime rib, was perfect. The service started out well, but detieriated quickly. Their Curley Fries were more like crushed bits. The waitresses were busy chatting up their friends, this resulted in having to ask for water twice. Which still never came during the meal. So, if you like a busy kids restraunt with no service, this is the place for you. Will try the other ones in different areas, maybe the service will be better.

Great atmosphere! Tasty food. Cocktails are pretty average. Staff were laid back and friendly.

Service was good but steak was over cooked for 2 of us. Med rare came out well done. It's a shame because the prime rib is a good steak but their cooking doesn't do it justice. Way too expensive for their final product. Not up to standard

Not bad. Good Ribs
Good service

Breakfast is a winner. We ate breakfast at joondalup hogs breath simply because we couldn't be bothered looking for anything else. We were pleasantly surprised. The breaky menu isn't huge but it's big enough and ranges from pancakes with bacon to steak... Yes, steak for breakfast. No we didn't eat steak haha. Anyways we were the only ones in the place and it was extremely relaxed. Service was excellent and friendly, food was delicious and served in a timely manner. A little expensive but you do get plenty on your plate. We would go back if we lived nearby.

Middle afternoon on a Sunday. Not many people, still 25 mins wait for food. First chicken burger I got was missing half of the toppings - which was discovered by staff themselves and rectified. Still quite uninspiring food, over grilled chicken and salty fries. Stick to the prime ribs here.

Generally Good. Myself and family have been here several times throughout the year. Normally service is good, and food is good value for money. Often Pubs provide a better steak at a better price, but this pl;ace is consistent. If your in the area and want a steak, you could do worse than hoggies.

8 out of 10. I have been to hog's breath in Joondalup 6 times now (I have yet to find a better steak) they are a bit over priced but service is good the atmosphere is excellent and the meals are large and very tasty, they usually come out quickly if it's not too busy. The barman knows his cocktails if it's not on the list he will make it for you if he knows how. I haven't had a bad experience yet
one of my favourite places to eat, I will be back :)
8/10

Half rack of ribs are probably the best I've had! Saying that, they aren't worth the price! Definitely couldn't eat here often as it's expensive and in my opinion over priced! Ambience is good but sometimes too loud with music blaring. Overall it's a place you should try out.

Joondalup and mindarie have grate food and service but very expensive

I've been to the Northbridge chain twice now and have left highly irritated! The waitresses are abrupt and get annoyed if u ask questions. I had the mushroom salad and it was only one mushroom cut up. Nothing like the picture. When I asked where the rest of the mushrooms were I was told I get what I get. Rude much? I also had a steak which as okay as a steak can get. Pretty average all round for what you pay.

Have eaten there a few times and they never cease to amaze me with the level of service and quality of food. They have obviously spent a lot of money on the place because you feel right at home with the rustic decor. Interesting memorabilia and now an enclosed balcony area which I usedxwhen I was last there. We take all of our friends there and a lot of them have become regulars as well. Inote the address is in Mindarie but I am writing about the Joondalup restaurant.

Expensive for what you get?. If you come here don't order the fish - it was a mess. Stick with the steaks or possibly chicken caesar salad. The fact you have to pay for sauce is a bit shocking.
Bernie
Expensive. $39 for half a rack of ribs! Impossible to get waiter/ress attention. Sloppy attention to meal presentation.
DforDee
Not a value for money place! 2 person lunching there costs about $65! :( food doesn't measure up to the cost of it too.
