Review Dome Kalamunda - Kalamunda

Coffee is great, always prepared quickly when I'm in a hurry. Friendly staff. Just would like to see the professionalism of some of the younger staff addressed. Talking on their phones, or having conversations about other workers with customers nearby isn't a great look.

Today (27th July 2022) my partner was being ‘cat called’ by a group of elderly men by whistling out aloud constantly, immediately disgusting but more disgusted by the fact that the waiters around chose not to take any action of this immature behaviour which made the whole environment of the restaurant even more uncomfortable. Disappointed by staff. Chose to not make a scene and left. I can understand you can’t control customers behaviour but when the staff chose not to act on poor behaviour makes me feel disgusted by the restaurant

Didn't stay today in Dome Mundaring as they had no pumpkin soup, something my mum loves & the main reason we go there. So we went to Kalamunda Dome instead. Plenty of pumpkin soup so all good

The staff are always lovely! My family and I have been regulars for quite some time and a couple of the older staff know our orders! Tables are always clean and food comes out quick!

This is absolutely the worst dome we have ever been to. Took 30 minutes to get our drinks and another 40 for our food. Steak sandwich came with cold stale chips and cold steak. Bacon and egg Hollandaise came with completely raw egg and cold bacon. The egg was absolutely running water had it remade and it was still cold and not cooked properly. Absolutely looked disgusting. The big breakfast came with undercooked sausage cold bacon and mushrooms. Pancakes were also cold. Portion here are also smaller then every other dome we’ve been to, chef clearly has issues. We went to place orders before 10.30 and they “ran out of avocado”. Customer service was not great either would never recommend or come back.

I bought a Chai Latte and it was the same as the chai latte from every other Dome I have ever been to. Consistent quality, friendly service, warm atmosphere! Thanks Dome!

Absolutely beautiful coffee, well brewed not bitter, just what you want, should have keto cakes, just a suggestion.

Dome is always a nice place to go. The staff are always very friendly. The food is yummy too 😋 😊

In my experience the food at Kalamunda Dome is better prepared than at other Domes I've been to. It's good food and a good venue. Can be a bit noisy because of the accoustics of the building, but there are enough seating options to usually find a good spot.

Absolutely love the fitout that all Domes have, always cosy and comfortable with an old world charm.<br/><br/>Food & beverage options are great, so much choice for what ever craving you need to fill.  Value, taste and appearance of the food is generally just on average though, nothing is bad, but again nothing is great, but its not a cheap menu.  <br/><br/>Flavour is just missing the mark on most of their food, which I believe is all just reheated from pre-packed or frozen. Again its quick and is ok.<br/><br/>Staff I find generally are just getting through the day, often young or older people who just need the money. A bit like their food not rude or unfriendly, but also not generally looking to pick up votes for waiter of the year!...Immaculately dressed though.<br/><br/>Coffee again ok, not good not bad.

Took forever to get the food out. And when you charge $16 for an avocado stack, youd expect more than one tiny bit of bread. Terrible value for money. Don't go here.

We'll drive past other Dome's to go to this one.  My favourite is pancakes on a Sunday or a Steak sandwich for lunch.  We go for dinner sometimes and I especially like the Salt & Pepper Squid salad.  Lovely in summer after work when the sun's setting or through winter sitting near the open fire.

Biscotti was stale and leathery and coffee was tepid. Totally crap. Never going there again. This was the last time. <br/>We have been here a few times now and after asking for HOT coffee still get tepid. Good riddance to a bad place

Great service.. Went to Dome in Kalmunda Sun morning 31/5/15 with 21 people. Place was busy and thought it would take ages to get our meal. Pleasantly surprised by the fast and friendly service. All meals were served within ten minutes of ordering. Food and coffee great.

Terrible music. The morning coffee is nice enough, but the music is too loud and stuffy - Frank Sinatra first thing is not pleasant.

Nasty aggresive manager. Avoid at all costs... aggresive manager/son of owner.. most horrible experience i have had at a cafe.. waitresses r sarcastic and very rude. Food is always cold.. and manager does not mind showing his aggresive side in front of small children. Absoloutly shocking experience.<br/><br/><br/>-----05 Feb, 2015-----<br/><br/>AGGRESIVE MANAGER. Male "manager" is very aggressive and extremely rude, felt the need to yell at me 3 times in front of my 4 yr old son because i went and had a smoke down on the footpath out the front of his business. Food was also cold and very over cooked. DONT WASTE UR MONEY... go to coffee club, they are always amazing.

Best chocolate milkshakes ever!<br/>Unfortunately I was let down by the over cooked scrambled eggs with a sponge like texture and the warm bread which was supposed to be toast.<br/>Other than the eggs and the toast my partner and I had a great time as usual, nice staff :)

Awful Breakfast. We ordered two breakfasts - one vegetarian and one bacon and eggs. The eggs with both breakfasts were burnt underneath and tasted so. Complained to a member of staff who said that is how they are served. They are done on the grill. She realised we weren't happy and disappeared only to return minutes later with freshly cooked eggs. Still done on the grill but not burnt. Overall the meals were very mediocre and not very hot. Will not return.

The coffee was very nice and the waffles were warm crisp and light but huge serve! Friendly lady at the counter

Read some of the reviews and thought I would try it anyway.... It is what it is... Had a coffee read the paper and some eggs... All in all was good, service was good... Staff busy and helpful...

TERRIBLE!!. I shall start off by saying that if you are even considering eating at Dome Kalamunda, you need to seriously revise your thought process as I have never had such a badly cooked, presented breakfast in any restaurant/cafe that I have eaten in for the past 20 odd years!<br/><br/>The building is in a prime location, is set out well with smallish areas/rooms tastefully furnished and decorated, and the staff on the whole seem happy and helpful, so on the face of it they should have it made. I went with a friend for a late breakfast mid morning and after parking in the rear large carpark, we walked in through the back entrance through an almost deserted restaurant. Well it was a school day - mid morning - and I thought we would be served quickly so wasn't worried. What actually happened was such a different story. We ordered our breakfast and asked for coffee afterwards. My friend ordered bacon and eggs and I had the poached eggs on ham and spinach with Hollandaise sauce. Coffee was served within 10 minutes and arrived lukewarm and weak. Then half an hour later breakfast arrived. The eggs and bacon arrived with the eggs covered in large black flakes of something unidentified - cooked both sides and not "sunny side up" as requested. Bacon smelt decidedly off and was still raw in places..... so back to the kitchen it went with a request for another meal but with scrambled eggs. 15 minutes later the second bacon and eggs emerged.... once again the bacon was still raw in places and smelt slightly off.... scrambled eggs were rubbery..... in all an inedible breakfast that was left on the plate. Poached eggs were bullets - spinach was not fresh and a bit slimy - and the Hollandaise was disgusting and definitely not homemade, and most was left on the plate. I was so disgusted about the whole meal that I was speaking to friends who live in Kalamunda about the whole experience yesterday, and they chuckled and said.... "yep you only go there once - you won't find many locals who go back a second time." So be warned. I certainly won't venture through their doors again!

Poor service of meals. Urgh, this Dome really frustrates me as it has so much promise and a virtually cornered market up on the hill there. The premise is great, I love the collection of little rooms which have a cosy atmosphere and mean you can find a good little corner to tuck yourself away in. There's also a kids corner with toys in the back room to keep little ones occupied. The staff are generally pretty friendly and helpful, however, they have serious issues going on in terms of their food service. <br/><br/>The first time I went for lunch with my partner and daughter it took over an hour for the food to come out which was ridiculous given that it was only a fish and chips and a chicken, cranberry and Brie roll. No prior warning of huge delays on food and no apology. <br/><br/>The second time I went for lunch with my sister, brother in-law, niece and my daughter and after being told there was a 15 minute turnaround on food (I was sure to check after prior lunch visit!) half the food came out after 30 minutes, another 15 minutes later and another 15 minutes later again after querying where the final meal was and the staff conceded the kitchen had "messed up" and "forgotten" the extra meal. There was at least an apology and offer of a free coffee in this instance though. <br/><br/>Have also managed to have stone cold apple pie served after (naturally) requesting that it be heated to eat with ice cream.<br/><br/>I now will only dine here for cake and coffee when there are no better options open p, which fortunately is a very occasional occurrence.

Great Place. After reading some of the reviews I was not sure about going to Dome Kalamunda but I must admit my family and I had a great brunch there on the weekend. The cafe was really busy so we waited about 30min for our food but we expected a wait as the queues were long. The wait meant that we could talk and catch up. The ambiance is great.<br/>The staff kept us updated on our order and even offered complimentary coffees while we waited.<br/>We shall be returning for more family get togethers Well Dome Dome Kalamunda.

How long does it take.... ...to get 2 coffees and 1 piece of cake from the fridge. 40 mins!!!! Only go here if you like to WAIT. And then wait some more.

Great staff. Came here on the weekend with a few family members - the staff where absolutely delightful. While it was quite busy, the food only took about 15 mins and the the coffee was fantastically made - perfect temperature. The staff were extremely helpful and seemed very happy and friendly. Will be returning soon

Won't be returning. Firstly, I don't mind Dome cafes except Kalamunda. I frequent a lot of cafes with my 2 yr old son , he is very well behaved, always stays in his high chair and loves baby cinos! This particular evening I decided on a quick coffee before an appointment and as my son had been at daycare all day he was a bit tired and consequentially pushed all of the pencils off the table, so I gave him a kind of timeout and he cried for his mama, all I was doing was trying to teach my child right from wrong. A man came over and told me I had to keep my child quiet( this is about 30 seconds after I placed my son on the floor, against a wall and away from any thoroughfares) as there were people trying to work ! Ummmm, it's a coffee shop! Long story short told me he was the owner (twice), if I wanted to discipline my child I had to do it outside. He was sitting at one of the tables, laptop out, so obviously he was trying to work . The lady next to me was appalled by how I was spoken to and said she would never come back and the young adult behind me came over and told me my son was adorable and she was sorry I was spoken to like that. There were hardly any people in the dome and I felt so humiliated I started crying . I sent my 'complaint' to dome but have had no response and this happened nearly 4 weeks ago - I will never ever go back. It's a shame as it is a great venue and opens til late ( which is why I went there) - just a shame the owner is getting mixed up between an office and a coffee shop!! Oh and they don't know the meaning of crispy bacon- even when you ask for it!!! The merchant do much better coffees ad I will be spending my money there from now on

Amazing Place. I was pleasantly surprised when I walked through the doors to DOME CAFE, it was and amazing experience that I received. I went to the counter to order my meal, and every member of staff there had a great and happy smile on their face. I ordered my meal and sat down at a table and my food came with smashing time. just 6 minutes after I ordered my meal I received it. And, an added bonus the meal and drink came at the same time!!!. This place was very good and I will DEFIANTLY be returning. Thank you Dome Kalamunda

Great Coffee. Kudos to the young man on the Coffee Machine around 3 Saturday arvo. He let me know my coffee was coming, apologised for the wait, asked if I needed a carry tray and was generally aware of the client. Well done

Best Dome. Had a very enjoyable meal here tonight, the food was very well presented and tasted great. Nice and easy, pleasant relaxing environment. Perfect spot for a quick meal in the hills.

Cheers Dome. Sitting in Dome this morning, having a great coffee. Thought id check out urban spoon reviews after hearing mixed reviews from colleagues. I'm shocked to read such bad reviews, especially of ones praising another close by franchise. I have received great coffee and great service from this Dome.<br/><br/>In response Jacko to a barrage of negative reviews you contradict yourself by liking a place with a vastly worse reputation than this Dome. Clearly coffee is a personal taste, and I am now a fan of Dome!!

The dreadful dome!. Regretably we went to the Dome in Kalamunda for a late breakfast today, just after 10 past nine we ordered 2 big breakfasts, coffee and tea and were told due to a problem we could only have scrambled eggs which was OK. After about 20 minutes the drinks arrived, another 20 minutes on we enquired after the meals and they arrived in 10 minutes but all except the eggs were stone motherless cold, not luke warm cold?? How do these people stay in business?

Disappointing Lunch. Lovely building - great carpark - terrible service! I visited Dome Kalamunda on Sun 9th Dec 2012 with my mother and daughter for lunch. We ordered meals and coffees. The coffees were brought out first and I sent them back, saying that we were waiting for our meals and would like the coffees after our meals. I was told that I should have told them this when I placed the order. The meals took about 30 minutes to arrive and were okay. I then asked the waiter for our coffees, and after waiting for another 15 minutes I went up to the counter to enquire again about the coffees. When they finally arrived, the latte was nice and hot but the flat white was lukewarm. I took the flat white up to the counter and asked for it to be warmed up. The staff member who was making the coffees PUT A THERMOMETER in my coffee and said that it was normal temperature and that if I had wanted it HOT, I should have ORDERED A HOT COFFEE!! My mum's latte was hot - and I had not ordered her a hot latte, just a latte!! I have never heard of such rubbish! She then said that she would make me another coffee but that it would take 15 minutes because I had to GO TO THE END OF THE QUEUE. There was no queue - there were no people at the counter - there was a row of cups where she was making coffees for people at tables. I said that I had already waited for ages for my coffee and could not wait for another 15 minutes as my mum would be finished her coffee by then. She then said "Well, do you want a refund then?" She could have made my coffee in 2 minutes or she could have warmed it up as I had requested. Her attitude was so rude - she has no concept of the term "service". I will definitely not go back there again - there are many other choices (The Merchant, The Forest, Le Paris Brest, etc.) I have also told my family and friends about my experience and they will also avoid the place.

Love this place!!. Dome kalamunda makes the best hot chocolate and milkshake(with ice) I have ever had in a long time. Every time I have been there the food has been on time and delicious, and being a local person I come here quite often. Also, The waitpeople are always friendly and helpful. Can't wait to go again.

Rubbish food. Rubbish coffee. Rubbish service. Will not be returning.

Nice Surprise. We went for a ride in the hills today, haven't been since last year and we went past Dome Kalamunda so turned around and checked it out. We usually wait till we get to Mundaring for our coffee. I have many memories of this building as it has had a few uses, nice to see it renovated and given a new life. Managed to get a table out the front and had our coffee while watching other riders go by. Coffee was great, staff are really friendly, location is spot on. I was surprised at the size of the carpark out back, nothing worse than trying to get a park near a cafe. No problems here! We will be back for lunch next weekend, might have dinner here before shopping Thursday too.

Terrible! Rubbish coffee, rubbish food, and maybe invest in a bell instead of screaming at the top of your lungs "coffee out!!!"? Much rather the small businesses around.

Domen't.. I felt sympathetic for a few apologetic waitresses, however on the whole the new Dome is very disappointing. It's noisy, messy, has average coffee and painfully slow service. After sending back an incorrect order, it took roughly 20 minutes to craft a mediocre latte. <br/><br/>Shall not return.

Fantastic. Whether it be breakfast, lunch or dinner, or a break our Family and Friends have always found the food, coffee and service to be GREAT. Yes, we had to wait some times, but, if they are busy? Use your eyes and expect it to take a bit longer. The refurbishment of the former police station is incredible. Well done!!!!!!!

Great Breakfast. We only had breakfast but the coffee and apple juice were excellent. The service was good and cheerful. The apple juice was not the usual brown insepid juice, but a good drink. The coffee drinkers said that their coffees were hot, well made and in a big cup.The breafast we also had salmon hollandaise yummy, and pancakes were also delightful.

Some staff are quite nice. Rubbish coffee and overpriced drinks are "forgotten" about every time I go to this place.

Dreadful service and overpriced food....ordered breakfast and after a wait of 25mins three of the four meals came out after waiting 10mins I went and enquiried about the other meal and was informed the order hadn't been sent to the kitchen, told them I would prefer to have money back as the wait was too long and the manager himself threw the money into my hand and rudely said "thanks" before storming off, so unprofessional. Will not go back.

Nice building - awful service <br/>After a 40 minute wait for coffee and then to be told it would be another 15 minutes our Father's Day morning was ruined and we had to ask for a refund and leave as someone had to go to work - I was not game to ask how long the food would be.
