Review Massaros - Kangaroo Ground

We had my mum‘s 70th birthday in the private function room at Massaros last Sunday, and the day was absolutely perfect! Vanessa was so wonderful to deal with, not only on the day but in the lead up to the event as well ….always getting back to me promptly with (the many) questions I asked along the way and nothing was too hard. The food was absolutely incredible and there was so much of it! It’s great they offer a few different options for group functions and the variety was fantastic. It was a grazing/sharing platter type setup which is the best way to eat. They also have a fabulous wine selection that is not too overcomplicated, but has something for everyone who enjoys a vino or 5! The venue is just stunning and we were so lucky to get the most beautiful Sunny winter day, the views are breathtaking. If you are looking for a venue to have an intimate private function (seats up to 40 I think) I would highly recommend Massaros, we will be back soon!

A terrific atmosphere with amazing night views of Melbourne. We all had pizza and we were very pleased with what was served up. The dessert was great also! The staff were quite friendly and attentive, ensuring that our glasses were never empty. Highly recommend Massaros for a casual night out with good food and atmosphere.

Delicious food accompanied with a stunning view. Some feedback: - Could use some music for ambience - At times, there was quite a bit of time between waitresses checking up on us. Needed water refills and wanted to order more drinks. Overall a great experience!

I hosted my birthday here in the private room and it was such a beautiful afternoon. Nothing was too much for Vanessa and her team and the food was beyond amazing!! Love this as our local place and can't wait to keep coming back! Thanks again for a great lunch Vanessa! Everyone had a great time!

Had a function here over the weekend - the food and drinks were delicious and atmosphere absolutely lovely. Vanessa and team were calm and professional, no request an issue. My guest kept telling me how much they enjoyed themselves and I am sure we'll be returning regularly.

We had a function at Massaros and due to Covid we had to postpone it 4 times. Vanessa was so understanding and her and her team were so welcoming and warm when we finally arrived, they really made us feel at home. The food was beautiful, the views are spectacular and their service was nothing short of amazing.

Tonight I enjoyed a wonderful meal with my cousins and their first time. I have many memories of my time at Massaros that I enjoyed on so many occasions with beautiful wife Maria that sadly passed away this year. I would like to thank Vanessa and team for a memorable night, amazing food and the kind gesture that I will never forget.

Absolutely beautiful food, venue and views. Waiting staff were friendly and pleasant and ready to take drink and food orders. We ordered the mushroom bruschetta for entree, which was absolutely beautiful. Then we shared a gnocchi and sausage pizza. The gnocchi was light and fluffy and melted in your mouth....delicious. The woodfired pizza was amazing. This place is a definately a winner...yum yum yum.

This is a brilliant place but we had to wait wayyyy too long for service, to order food or wine, even though the owner and wait staff were all very friendly. And a weird thing is I’m not sure what their tables are made with outside, sprayed by, kinda metallic looking... but they are sticky in the heat and it left a burn the side of a ten cent piece on my elbow. Bizarre I know! I’d give it another go, but clearly keep my arms off the table. ��

We have been to Massaros several times but have decided after going for lunch yesterday we will never go there again in winter. To say we were freezing inside the restaurant is an understatement. Staff are good, food is good even though a bit over priced. When we were leaving I'm guessing the owner, a lady in a coat & rugged up was very off handed when we commented on how cold it was inside the restaurant, "it is a cold day" was her reply, well guess what in your coat - turn the heating up or address the issue for your paying customers. We left early as all four of us were freezing

Well we got to the restaurant no services waited for half hour had to get up get the menu ourselves Finally got service four of us ordered main three were delivered had to wait a while the partner to get his meal The mussel soup meal was terrible the mussels smelt off Gave it back wasn't happy they did not charge me Asked for the calamari which when received thought I was getting French fries Asked for the affogato unable to have that they had no ice cream ! Come to coffee they delivered that in a take away cup as they told us they ran out of cups??? When asked why we got them in a take away cup she had sai yes we run "is that a problem "" I was discuted with service the food well was not quality standard . For a head waiter to say ""is that a problem " coffee in a takeaway cup ! Well that just did it for us Much to be desired !!!!

Great location, the music was great, food also was good just disappointing service waited about 20 minutes to order our first drinks, no one came near us again during our mains so no further drinks could be ordered, then had to chase a waiter down to order desert. Several times not one waiter was in the restaurant area so if you needed anything you couldn't even ask. We had asked a waiter to order desert and he didn't come to us for another 10 minutes. Such a shame as the venue is great?

Delicious Italian food - even reading the menu makes your mouth water! We enjoyed beautiful pizza and pasta on Friday night. The restaurant had a relaxed and friendly ambience, fabulous live music by James Mark and the views of the city skyline are stunning.

Great authentic rustic italian food. I felt like l was back in Italy eating pizzas at a trattoria . Highly recommend the place will definitely go back. Thanks Dominic and Vanessa keep up the good work ��

Incredible food and portion sizes, in true Italian fashion, you won’t leave feeling hungry but will most likely spend the rest of the day in a food coma. Today’s meal and service we fantastic even with an unexpected power outage, it didn’t impact on the experience at all.. Can’t wait to come back again soon �

Very disappointed 8 adults 8 children set menu because of Easter Sunday way too expensive $35 a head for children !!!!! Pizza was burnt , calamari dry and terribly crispy pork very fatty and grisly . Young staff very friendly but didn't know much management terrible too slow had to get asking for knives and forks and clean plates not a place for children way too expensive. Had to ask for bread for children and they said they didn't have much , no butter really in a restaurant? Wouldn't recommend it

Lovely food and a lovely view to sit out in the sunshine with a glass of wine.however I was shocked and Disgusted that the small portion of 2 scoops of ice cream cost me $11! When I questioned the girl on how much it was before purchasing ,she replied 'maybe $3'. There's a big difference between what she said and what I paid. Maybe you should have the pricing available to view

Love this place especially when you win a bottle of wine & $50 voucher. Yummy food, great views, friendly staff & getting busier by the year. Well done & worth a visit �

Venue was beautiful, luvely atmosphere, food great when it finally came!!! But the compliments stop there👎👎our booking was out on terrace and the 30 of us stuck in front of very hot pizza oven!!.average drinks waited 30 mins, staff unable to understand what we wanted, they seemed very understaffed . The pizzas were very nice but staff started to pack up before half of us had eaten!!! Very poorly organised, such a disappointment 😓For such a luvely restaurant and surroundings pity the organisational skills weren't here!!!!

Love the venue. Great food and wine, can pretend I'm back in Italy for an afternoon. Service is always good and love chatting to the owner. Such a delight. Trying to think of what to recommend menu wise, but it's all delicious.

We were at Massaros for NYE and had a fantastic night! The food was excellent and lots of it! The staff were efficient and friendly and seemed to really enjoy their jobs! The owner was circulating during the night chatting to everyone and making sure everyone was happy. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble for this wonderful crew! We had a great view of all the fireworks from this lovely setting. We will be back and bringing more friends! Thank you for making our NYE so special!

It was an exceptional venue with rustic Italian ambience, however the establishment can’t ignore critical feedback that the wait for food was extensive. I think they are on a gold mine and have the capacity to really receive acclaim for their food and hospitality. Moderate the prices, even slightly, to make the costs better resemble the quantity of food. We will be back to give it one more go. Melbourne needs more places like this, it is truly stunning.

Had delicious pizza for lunch today ! The views were amazing and the service was excellent . Will be back for sure and will recommend it to friends .
