Review Palette Dining - Katoomba

Shane Goodwin
Nice meals probably rate it a 3.9. Great little upstairs dining venue and staff really good at their job. Owner or manager seemed to walk around chatting to patrons which was nice. Flash fried cauliflower stems in Buffalo sauce was excellent. Had the Trump burger and was nice. Great beer selection with many craft and commercial beers on offer. Would recommend eating here.

Had an excellent meal here. The wait staff were friendly and helpful. The setting was comfortable albeit slightly warm. Overall great experience. I’ll definitely be back next time I’m passing through! 😃

Dinning upstairs the cocktails were outstanding and were amazingly detailed.Great range of local and imported craft beers. The food was well priced and as described. Well worth a visit but seating is limited, so it may be a bit of wait. Well worth it however.

We ate upstairs in the diner on a busy Friday night. They don't take reservations (unless you're a group) so we hedged our bets and came early and it was already super popular. Great cocktail and craft beer list, wines are a bit more limited but hit the spot. The wait staff were super friendly and accommodating. Food did take a long time to come out but when it did, it was super fresh and really tasty. The Gus Burger was a big hit and the onion rings are some of the best I've ever had (and I've had a lot!)

Palette has a nice (read fancier) sit down restaurant on the ground floor and a fun cozy bar/diner on the upper level. I would highly recommend just heading upstairs if you're looking for a casual place. The beef cheek burger was a bit sweet but I really liked it. The Trump burger is ok, nothing phenomenal. The wings were extremely extremely very spicy. So eat at your own risk. Live music on Friday nights after 8.30pm. our server was great. Overall, food is ok, there are better places around but the service makes it a great experience.

Great service, good food. We went upstairs for the bistro/bar. Ordered the pork ribs and beef cheek burgers, couldn't let a spice challenge slip by with the naga chilli wings. Food: Food didnt disappoint; beef cheeks were juicy and tender, paired well with the garlic and rosemary shoestring fries. Naga chilli wings were nice, and the staff/owner/bartender were nice enough to show us some of the chilis they incorporate in the dish. However the star of the show were the pork ribs were super tender and delicious, could use a spoon to separate the meat. Wouldn't hesitate to take the 1/1.5 hour train up to Katoomba from them. Staff/Environment: Staff were super friendly and shared their immense wealth of knowledge/passion in their ingredients, dishes and alcohol. All in all, a great place that is a rare find; with passionate and friendly staff. If your around the area, let your palette explore this hidden gem.

Excellent service, good and ambience. I had the slow roasted cauliflower which was amazing followed by the sirloin steak. It was ok, a bit unusual that it was sliced for me, but delicious nonetheless. I had severe FOMO of the crispy skin salmon with finger lime. An enjoyable evening.

I came here with a group of 7 because we had seen some great reviews about this place but we were SO disappointed with the food. It was not good quality, and lots of the ingredients the menu said the plates had in them were missing, the entrees/ appetisers came with the food together as well, it was pretty pricey and the portions were tiny. We won't be coming back here any time.

My husband and I stopped here when we were passing through Katoomba on the way home to Sydney. We ordered the same thing - a 'porky pig' burger and a chocolate shake. You could tell the kitchen was under a bit of pressure due to a large group at one of the tables, so some details were missed (for example, my shake had a wafer, but my husband's did not). The meal was very good though, and I'm keen to return and try the beef cheek burger. Just one pet peeve - someone kept changing the songs when they were halfway through playing. The staff may not like certain songs, but please keep in mind that this can be quite frustrating when you're trying to enjoy your meal.

Dine here if you're in the Upper Blue Mtns. I hope they continue to do this wonderful food.
Locally sourced/nearby country produce, as well as their own. They know what they're doing; just delightful dining experience.
If this was in inner Sydney, take it as read you'd be hard pressed to book or be queueing on the footpath. Not sure how long they've been open but we wish them every success.
Beautiful food, enthusiastic, attentive service. Thank you Palette Peeps!

This place is well presented by a very proud chef. The staff have a ball serving and the food is local produce and much of the ingredients like butter, salt, and bread are made on the premises. Very nice - must try this if in the neighbourhood.

Fantastic food & impeccable service - the waitress took us on a food journey as she described each dishes on the menu. After hearing of the description, Brandofay & I were salivating & couldn't decide what we wanted.

I had the coconut prawns for entree & quail for main. Both dishes were outstanding. I loved the fresh asian influenced salad with the coconut prawns. My main Quail was Maroccan influenced with persimmon mash!

I highly recommend this place. Next time I want to fit in dessert as well. Highlight for me was the waitress with the impeccable knowledge of the menu.
