Review Sanwiye - Katoomba

One of the best Korean restaurants I have been too. The food here is delicious and flavorful, which was a surprise for a little eatery. The service was also brilliant and staff were very accommodating. Definitely a place to check out.

Charming little Korean restaurant in the heart of Katoomba. Very popular! Highly recommend to book a table, any day of the week to avoid waiting for a table. I was lucky to get a table straight away by going very early (18:00). I ordered the fish cakes, rice and salad, accompanied with ginseng tea. Generous serving for the food and the fish was juicy, melt-in-the-mouth pieces. Went back to try their japchae. It's was good! Not dry, just the right amount of seasoning and the aroma of sesame oil. Service was friendly and attentive. If they are busy, it might be slow due to staffing having only two people on.

Ok I have to say one of the best house kimchi I ever had. And also their dumplings were soooooo yummy! I was surprised to find a nice Korean restaurant here around blue mountains. The staff were friendly and was very reasonable priced. I would definitely recommend here if you are looking for something alternative.

We arrived for late lunch on a Sunday and the staff were very welcoming and friendly. The restaurant was initially empty, but we were quickly joined by many other patrons. We had the Pork Dumplings, Beef Bulgogi, spicy Korean fried chicken, Sundubu Jjigae, Miso Soup, and Boong-A-Pang. All the portion sizes were excellent and the food was very flavourful. Would definitely recommend.

Great food, great service, great atmosphere! Have been back to this quaint little restaurant a few times now. The food is always delicious and the portions are massive. The restaurant itself has a great atmosphere. It’s quite small and often very busy, so would recommend booking (but have had some luck a few times getting a table for two after walking in on a week night). Staff are very friendly and attentive, but service can take a bit longer when they’re very busy (which is understandable for a small restaurant!).

The best Korean food I’ve ever tasted in Katoomba, you should give it a try. I am not gonna lie, you can thank me later.

Great Korean food. If you like your food spicy, make sure you ask for it to be really spicy! The spicy chicken wings didn't have the numbing quality I'm used to, but they were juicy, crunchy and tasty. Pancakes were exceptional. Only disappointed that all the little sides you regularly get with Korean food had to be ordered separately.

Things are ok. Not like great great. Price is reasonable in the town.

When you serve the tea please remove the ugly price tag.lol

the food was delicious although the servings are quite big and filling, so keep that in mind if you order a lot! Sanwiye has a lovely authentic atmosphere - the lighting is a soft orange glow and the music does not over crowd the space at all. The staff and service are very nice, (they also do split bills) would recommend!

This is my favourite restaurant in Katoomba. I come here almost every week. My favourites are the Japchae and the Sunsal Chicken with the soy garlic. Absolutely delicious. I recommend 100/10 !! Please come here, you won’t regret it!

If only I lived closer to this magical place ! I’ve been here twice now and both times have been amazing. I am vegan, gluten free and intolerant to onion and garlic which pretty much rules out every korean dish there is lol. I was so nervous to ask the staff if I was able to get a dish without onion or garlic but it was so relieving when the lovely waitress offered for the vegetarian noodle dish to be made in plain gluten free soy sauce instead of the usual sauce which I am guessing has gochujang, garlic etc in it. The noodles were perfectly smokey from the wok and the vegetables and tofu were fresh and abundant ! The people I ate with also ordered the vegetable steamed dumplings which they said were delish and seemed to be homemade. We also ordered miso soup and was able to get it vegan ! As well as a traditional green tea which I highly recommend. We finished it off with the green tea ice cream mochi which was the cutest. I’m still not sure about mochi but I had a taste of the mochi case as the ice cream wasn’t vegan and it was really good ! Can not recommend this place enough for vegan’s, gf’s, or anyone else with or without allergies ! Also the cutest vibe inside the little restaurant.

Amazing! We have four people, and everyone loves these plates! We had been here just only 2 days and backed here twice! It’s not only delicious but also cheaper than the other restaurants, four girls with four plates, and we shared around $15-$17 each person! Thank you for the chef and also very nice waitress! I highly recommend for someone who loves Asian food. These tastes are different from another Korean restaurant that you should try!

I wouldn’t normally post a photo like this , but the food was SO GOOD I struggled to get a pic before it was all gone!

Amazing korean home cooked comfort food on Katoomba’s main street. We ordered seafood soup, korean fried chicken and bulgolgi beef.

The staff were friendly, portions very generous and I loved the hot lemon tea which came in a lovely handmade ceramic teacup. Would definitely come back again & again

After hiking in blue mountains, this little place brought so much joy to dine there. The food is very tasty, and bit portion too. Loved the beef bimbimbap and seafood noodles. Japchae tasted really good too. Loved the decor and really hope we could have the window seats next time!

Such a popular restaurant that was super busy and we can understand why. It was brilliant and we’d drive up to the Blue Mountains again just for this. Portions are super large and price is extremely reasonable and this is especially hard to find in this high volume tourist area. We enjoyed the Bibimbap, rice in the pot, topped with egg, beans, carrot, meat etc. We also loved the tofu salad. Flavours are refreshing and probably the best Korean food we’ve had. Staff are helpful and so kind.

I always bring my tourist friends here when we can't decide on a type of food - there's something to try for everyone, and an extensive menu. Big dishes, not toooo expensive. Always very busy though - it's obviously popular (it's also not a large restaurant). Nice atmosphere and friendly staff.

The first time I went here, their food is kind of disappointing. But I try to give it another chance so I went back yesterday and they have really improve! I ordered beef bibimbap, steamed dumplings, japchae, boneless chicken, and kimchi pancake (not in the frame). The bibimbap portion is very big which is suitable for 2 persons 👯‍♀️

The only Korean restaurant in the Blue Mountains and some of the best Korean I've ever eaten. Highly recommend the gyoza, the japchae and the omelette stuffed with rice. Everything is delicious and reasonably affordable if you go in a group. The atmosphere is also very cute and cosy.

I came here after a camp in lithgow, so we decided to go for blue mountain too. Cause we were so hungry, we had lunch at this place cause 3 of my friends also love korean food. We ordered dumpling, chicken rice, spicy noddle soup, and bulgogi rice.
For the spicy noddle soup it tasted a bit soury but it still okay. Overall the foods were xoxo for our hungry tummy
Nah and they got so cute ambience by the way

The interiors are very instagrammable, I can smell the flowers from the table, I cannot forget the blueberry drink I ordered it was so delicious. I cannot say anything negative. All in all, good food, good ambiance, very welcoming staff, would definitely come back again.
