Review Pinocchio Sushi - Kensington

Absolutely delicious Korean-Japanese food. Everything tastes super fresh and homemade, from the sushi to the soups. Definitely recommend trying - this has become one of our favourites in the area!

I cannot express how much I love this restaurant!! Such delicious, homely food cooked with love. Good quality and such great value! Pinocchio Sushi is an institution. My partner ate here often as a uni student 15 years ago and it’s still the same :’) would recommend the bibimbap!

Coming here I didn't actually expect that much out of it, but it was surprisingly nice! The food wasn't that expensive, and although maybe not very authentic, it still tasted pretty solid! I can't say the food quality was amaaazing but hey it's not a bad option if you're looking for someplace to eat along Anzac parade! Customer service was also friendly :) I might return sometime :D

A nice place if you want a quick meal. The taste is not very otentic but still ok, eg: you would expect kimchi with your korean dish instead of salad.

Great food, reasonable prices and really efficient and friendly staff. Had a sushi and sashimi combo with chicken teriyaki and tempura. The tempura was light and crispy, teriyaki was really good and not too sweet, sushi and sashimi were both tasty and fresh. The place is homely and and great for a casual meal with friend.

Always great, authentic Japanese food, great service at great prices. I've been a patron of this place for many years and never been disappointed. I highly recommend Pinocchio Sushi.

I absolutely love this place. This place is an institution, my partner and I have been going here for 15 years and the food is amazing. Highly recommended the bibimbap

5-Jan-2017, Fri 1.30pm. There were a few empty tables so we easily found a table. The menu is quite diverse, not just sushi. The prices were decent, the staff was friendly. I found the soup to be a bit too sweet but perhaps that's how it's supposed to taste. The wasabi was relatively mild. My order was #5, chicken kaarage, and about 14$. It included 5 pieces of sushi, a bowl of rice a small platter of chicken some strips of ginger and a soup, see photos. I don't see any reason why you didn't give this restaurant a go. The food was ready in about 15min. They have some interesting ornaments.

Decent feed, conveniently near campus. The staff are super lovely here. It was easy for me to get a seat as I was by myself, it would be harder in large groups. I got the 5pc salmon avocado roll with teriyaki chicken, rice and miso soup. The food was good and tasted fresh, it was a reasonable amount for the price ($15).

The bibimbap is pretty average. It tastes good,
But there weren’t any of the standard korean side dishes that go into bibimbap or the fried egg on top. It was nice there was complimentary miso, but it was very watered-down and just salty. Okay value for what you get but won’t be going super often

Nice friendly place... Cash only till 30 dollars. Got a saahimi box take away nicely put with seawees salad and ginger. The sashimi however was a bit jilted and not very fresh... Tasted ok

Good enough for a uni student on weekdays lol. The lunch is big and the cost is moderate. I had eel rice that day and it tasted good. Although the atmosphere was quite noisy and the seats were tiny, it was understandable for a restaurant near uni.

Smile Worthy Meal ~ Having wanted to taste some delicious teriyaki chicken I ended up here. I ordered their Special Meal B. It started with a delicious miso soup and led to a flat lay of teriyaki chicken, sticky rice, dumplings and kimchi salad.

The soup was the most comforting thing ever and the meal was scrumptious. Would definitely visit again to try their Bibimbap.

Very small inside but the food is great. The service is good too and the location is near the bus stop so it's pretty convenient. The pricing is reasonable as well.

Love the hot stone bibimbap bowl and their agedashi tofu is super delicious! Sushi is fresh and yummy. And their house made gochugang sauce is the right balance of sweet and spicy. Highly recommend!!!!

An average Japanese bento box. Been here a few times already and. During my last visit, I tried the beef one that is served with fried dumplings and salad. The price is still affordable with decent amount of serving

Great value for money. I got the $13 set with sushi, sashimi, rice, spicy pork and miso soup. Food came out quick and service was not bad at all. Good feed on a cold night without making a hole in your wallet.

A little Korean Japanese bargain gem in Kingsford. This place is not much to look at but the food is nice and also cheap. I usually order the Korean BBQ beef combo with sushi and sashimi. They also serve a range of udon soup and Korean spicy Ramyun noodle Soup and no it is not to be confused with Ramen. They also serve a range of sushi and sahimi as well as rice bowl combinations. Three words to sum up this restaurant basic, cheap and tasty.

I was told by my friend that Pinocchio was worth to try, however it turned out a disappointment. The decoration in Pinocchio sushi is kinda nostalgic, especially the red sofa which might feels not-so-comfortable. Being named by sushi, Pinocchio actually serves Korean cuisine, with a lot of soy sauce in almost every dish. I ordered yakisoba, which, of course, by its name, should be made of "soba" or "蕎麦" in Japanese. Eventually we got yakiudon instead.

I had a meal based on a recommendation or more accurately notification (which is just an indication that the place exists and serves a certain style of cuisine without any comment about its quality). It was busy at the time which is usually a good sign but the service was a little inattentive.

I had the beef bento box which is a Japanese lunch but found it a little inauthentic and not quite as appealing as in some other more specialised Japanese outlets. Just not having quite the same level of freshness or depth of flavour. The portion size was large. A filling meal to summarise.

We've been to Pinocchio Sushi a couple of times purely out of convenience and affordability. The hot food tends to hit the mark a lot more than the sushi and sashimi which isn't so fresh. Lunch sets can range from the impossibly cheap $11 (5 pieces of sushi, bowl of rice, miso soup, teriyaki meat of your choice) to around $18 for the more seafood heavy options. Great if you're pressed for time as the food comes out quite quickly.

I would recommend ordering a Korean dish from this place (or a bento with Korean main) rather than the sushi. The sushi is fairly poor quality consistently. The staff are hilariously flippant, but overall it's a decent place for lunch. Word to the wise: very popular place at lunch for the nearby students so if you want to avoid crowds keep that in mind and perhaps show up closer to noon or after two.

The menu offered a great variety of dishes from quintessentially Korean food to Japanese food to Korean-Japanese fusions. It was a little difficult to order as the menu lacked description and a pixelated photo accompanied some dish names.

A sushi & sashimi platter, teriyaki chicken, rice, miso soup and tea for $12. That's right you can get all that for $12 at Pinocchio Sushi in Kingsford. So if you go to UNSW ditch the Quad pasta and get some Japanese food that isn't expensive.

Greedy to charge $1 for purchases below $30. That is not the cost of an eftpos transaction. Chinese places next door are much better value!

Some of the best japanese in Sydney.

Average. Had Bimbab ...$13 is too much to pay when its mainly rice and not nearly enough beef and veges ...also the flavours weren't there - not enough sesame oil perhaps..iadd ot add lots of korean chilli paste to get some flavour. My partners mixed palte wasn't great either : funny tasting gyoza and teriyaki chicken was ok but didn't taste like teriyaki

Well priced and reliable. Nothing fancy about this restaurant. Reliable service (although the girls on the floor can appear a little run off their feet during the lunchtime rush) and very reasonable prices. $10 meal sets and nine piece sushi roll from $7 make it a popular regular lunch joint for students, lecturers and workers in the local area.

Good selection of Korean meals and sushi. Highlights are the soft shell crab sushi roll and sashimi bab.

With the generous serving sizes you won't leave hungry, whether or not you decided on the sushi.
