Review Centonove - Kew

Vincent So
Excellent food and martinis. The staff are superb and know when to give you privacy or to have a chat - they genuinely like their job and their enthusiasm shows. Seafood is fresh and delicious, the specials are good as well - and they change daily. Charming, classy décor and a clean place to have a good meal.

Love the food and the service is really wonderful.

Completely flawless lunch today. The service was exactly as you’d expect for the quality of restaurant. The food and drink where spot on. I had both entree and mains off the specials menu. Sydney oysters and pork belly with a side of Chianti. Perfectly delivered. Thanks for a great lunch.

We had very bad experience there. My husband gave me birthday surprise and he booked table for us. The customer service was very bad. The young female server came to serve us somehow become very rude after knowing that we are vegan. And she couldnt provide much options. She asked the owner but owner didn’t bother to come. She thrown the bread on our plate that we are not paying for the dinner. We ordered what we understand. Food wasn’t very good. My special day became very bad day. We asked the server could you please ask the owner to come but he didn’t come. So yeah not many options for vegetarian or vegan. 😢😢

Super cool Cocktail/Wine Bar in classy Kew. Beautiful fit out but most of all very professional super knowledgeable hosts that are a pleasure to listen to as they explain the finer points of the vast selection of wine they offer by the glass. I have to admit it I m in awe of their knowledge. As the good old saying goes please do yourself a favour and try it, you will be mesmerised. And don't forget to also try the brain behind Bar Alba, the fine dining institution that has become, Centonove, just a skip and a jump across the road.

We have been going to Centonove for years and have never had a bad experience. We were lucky enough to have a bit of special treatment from Jessie in the cellar room on Friday. This place is an institution and we urge you to check it out. Great food and an extensive wine list.but with out any pretension. We love this place! Thanks Jessie and team, you'll see us again soon!

Delicious food, good service, a beautiful venue. We were very lucky and were seated in a private room surrounded by wine bottles! Overall a wonderful dining experience!

Could not fault centonove, would give 6 stars if I could! Excellent food, excellent service, lovely atmosphere, wouldn't have even known about the place if I hadn't been given a voucher to go but will definitely be back! Thank you for a fantastic night out!

The beef carpaccio is amazing.

Came here with my friends and we had the two course menu. One was the polenta for entree and the semolina and lamb. A friend had the salmon dish. The servings were quite small but very tasty. You don’t want to go there starving as you definitely won’t be full. Service was lovely and the waiters were very attentive. Probably be back but not for a while.

Had a family dinner here and it was a lovely dinner experience for us all. We ordered multiple entrees and main dishes which left us all satisfied and full. The authenticity and flavour of these dishes are amazing, so definitely recommend visiting this lovely Italian restaurant.

Fresh and seasonal food, beautifully presented and cooked to perfection! The express lunch is great value. A variety of Australian and Italian wines to cater for different palates and preferences. Staff were professional and attentive, leaving us feeling relaxed and not rushed to turn tables. Would definitlet return, cannot wait to try more of the menu!

Went with a group, and we had the set menu.  Either two or three courses, entree and main had three choices, dessert had two.<br/>I chose the pasta for my main and it was very good.  The sauce was a creamy roast capsicum one and it was delicious.  I had a panna cotta with a passionfruit sauce, and the panna cotta wasn't the best I've ever had, but the sauce was divine.  The service was very attentive and polite.

Just had lunch for my parent’s 60 anniversary and we all loved it! Thank you. <br/>Mum has become a pretty hard critic of service establishments with no fear of speaking her mind if she’s not satisfied. Must be something that develops with maturity. She ABSOLUTELY loved lunch and said her fillet was perfection as was the Peel Estate Cabernet she had. The old man is less discerning and critical but enjoyed it just as much. <br/>Thanks Centoneve for making this lunch on their special day a great one.

So this place was pretty good, the service was good and the food very tasty and the atmosphere very nice but I was a little disappointed that I specifically called out that it was for a birthday and was advised that this would be noted on the booking. However no candle on the desert as promised and the service was not as attentive as I'd hoped. Still pretty good for what it is and I'd reccomend going there for the food but slight room for improvement.

Went there for $50/3 course lunch. Excellent food and value for money. Each dish was wonderfully presented and had different textures and tastes. Service was friendly and quick considering it was a busy lunchtime crowd. Definitely worth a revisit in the future.

Lovely little Italian restaurant with a focus on high quality ingredients. If you’re into wine you can request a table that’s seated in the wine room, which is charming. All the food is great, the seafood especially.

It was an amazing restaurant for the family and I. The price was reasonable for the quality of food we received. The service was very friendly, kind and welcoming. I would recommend this restaurant.

Came for dinner on a Saturday night with family and we were very impressed. Impeccable service that really made us feel welcome , large selection of specials to choose from as well as the menu choices. We had scallops and oysters for entree followed by the veal and spaghettini. Good wine selection we tried a proseco to start , followed by a Chianti. Finished off the night with an affogatto!! Reasonably priced and good quality food and great service.

Went here tonight for a special dinner. I was truly impressed. I liked the older built building and the ambience inside; it felt nice and cosy. The servings were on the smaller side, however the flavour definitely made up for this and we left feeling satisfied, not overly full. The service was prompt, friendly and helpful. When we walked in and out we were welcomed and farewelled. Loved the drink list, scallops, barramundi and crab pasta and the perfectly prepared crème brûlée. 5/5!

Very solid Italian fare, great service in an enjoyable setting. Seated upstairs, highlights included the tagliatelle and slow cooked duck. Will be back again!

Fresh and delicious! Loved every single dish! Service by Julio and Julie were impeccable. Thank you for a wonderful dinner, we will definitely be back <br/>Highly recommend their special oysters, veal, beef carpaccio and bread-crumbed scallops. Absolutely divine!

First time visiting and to be honest it was such a let down, the food had minimal flavour, I had a pasta of the day dish and it was full of garlic and I couldn't finish the dish, the restaurant itself feels small and our table was bumped numerous times. For a shared entree and two mains and two drinks for $130 it just didn't seem worth it however the restaurant is full so they must be doing something right

Small restaurant that is a lovely little inviting treasure in Kew. Make sure you book to avoid missing out. Service so friendly and the Italian accent helps along the vibe. Always leave full, content and relaxed. Good quality food prepared well, it speaks for itself. The raviolo with egg yolk was a definite treat and the beef carpaccio delightful. Tiramisu was the real deal and not some deconstructed debacle. Enjoy a leisurely lunch or dinner. Popular with couples or small groups for family meals and celebrations. Recommend.

We tried our luck on a Tuesday night and thought it was busy with no table left empty. We were quickly welcomed in and told there was ample seating upstairs. Walking up, we got a sense of how lovely the wine was and we were right. Good selection and helpful staff to point you in the right direction. We were seated and told the specials which were very details and somewhat challenging to remember. We ordered one of the specials (fish) and a pumpkin risotto with a side of planchette peas and olives. We had panna cotta and tiramisu for dessert.<br/><br/>The peas were a stand out. Fresh, sweet and buttery, we were very happy with outer side selection. The fish was rather large with a subtle flavour and no accompaniments. This was more suited to a shared meal.<br/><br/>Risotto was very creamy but delicious. The pannacotta was lovely with its signature wobble and accompaniments. The tiramusu was humbly presented which I didn't mind but it's didn't exceed expectations. <br/><br/>Staff were lovely and the environment intimate and warm. Would love to dine in the closed off wine room upstairs with friends some time. <br/><br/>

This place has received so many years of the good food guide and it is always on my list to try it out. <br/><br/>Finally have a chance to try this out with my friends, love the atmosphere of the restaurant. We ordered the pizza and carpaccio for entree, then go for duck, risotto, veal special and pork neck for main and the four dessert except for the cheese plate. <br/><br/>I love the pizza, the veal really nicely cooked, the duck is also nicely done, Creme brûlée really nice and creamy except the cover is slightly burnt.

Went in a big group and had the $35/pp lunch. The food was nothing special but can't complain for the price hence the 4/5. Service was also delightful.
SJMelbgirl
Elegant, old-school decor and polished service. My entree of beef carpaccio was quite rich so I counterbalanced with the crab spaghettini for my main. Both dishes were flavourful and well executed. Extensive wine list and good coffee. A great local Italian that is perfect for both intimate dinners or group catch ups.

Nice fine dining experience in Kew. Tasty, warming food that is real Italian. Romantic, cosy and special. Would come back here again in the future

My friend treated me and my husband to dinner at Centonove in Kew. My first impression was really positive; love the table settings- old school damask and silver. The restaurant manager was very welcoming; in fact I felt the floor staff were the best part of our dining experience, which is usually not the case. There's a lovely atmosphere downstairs, lots of buzz for a Tuesday night. The tables are close together and it can get noisy. Some children and their family decided to play patta- cake, patta-cake for quite some time. Do they forget that they are in a restaurant? <br/>The Chardonnay that was recommended was from Beechworth and was lovely and light; not like someone hit me in the head with a sledgehammer. However, I was not terribly impressed with the entrees or the main courses. Not to say there was anything essentially bad about them but the flavours just did not hit the mark; not bold or big enough- no wow factor. My fellow diners were very happy with their desserts. The classic tiramisu was good, but not a patch on Fratelli Paradiso (Potts Point). My pannacotta was light and silky smooth with a selection of overly sweet fruits. Overall, I agree with most of the reviews that Centonove is a good local Italian restaurant but one hat? Tipo 00 has one hat and is superior.

Friendly staff, swift service, food was on point. <br/><br/>Spaghettini was 8/10 though be sure to ask for a generous serving. <br/><br/>Veal cutlet was delicious. <br/><br/>Fondant - nice way to finish a quick meal. <br/><br/>Value - fair. <br/>Atmosphere - intimate<br/>Wine list - decent.

Food is Italian without any question. Charm, elegance and romance greets you in this well presented restaurant. If you have been missing that trip to Italy this restaurant will be a great alternative and you can go home after and sleep in your own bed.<br/>The wine selection covers major wine growers in Italy and you can actually purchase the bottles from their cellars.<br/>Wonderful romantic dinner for an anniversary, birthday and family gathering.

On my third visit to Centonove, I had the pleasure of dining in the private dining room - the cellar. We kicked it all off with oysters and an Italian dish akin to steak tartare, both very good. The asparagus and poached egg was delicate with well balanced flavours and and delightful way to lead into my pasta of choice - the spanner crab spaghettini. All dishes completely hit the mark and I practically rolled out of there. The service was faultless (as expected) and our waiter, though not technically a sommelier, had an excellent knowledge of wine and was able to guide us through our numerous selections. Highly recommend.

Enjoyed 3 course set lunch.<br/>I Had<br/>*Prawn and rocket salad<br/>*Gorgonzola risotto <br/>*Flourless chocolate cake<br/><br/>Salad was fresh and flavourful. Prawn was seasoned well and cooked perfectly.<br/><br/>Risotto was rich and creamy yet not overwhelming and I could enjoyed it until the end.<br/><br/>Cake was nutty and the sweetness was just right for me.<br/><br/>Every dish was simple but executed to perfection. We really enjoyed the course.<br/><br/>I was impressed that they had many gluten free options. They served gluten free bread to my son, and most of the dishes on the course menu were gluten free. <br/><br/>Service was good.

Superb local Italian.<br/>Crab spaghettini were sensational, great tiramisu and chocolate fondant. <br/>Service a little slow and aloof. <br/>Highly recommended

We thoroughly enjoyed our night at Centonove. The service was impeccable and the food/wine delicious.<br/><br/>My favourites:<br/>Entree:<br/>Marron, tuna and scallops all delicious.<br/><br/>Main:<br/>Pork cutlet and flounder.<br/><br/>Dessert:<br/>Three types of cannoli (Nutella was especially delicious).<br/><br/>Whilst the decor has not been changed for a while. The restaurant has a warm and sophisticated feel, coupled with the friendliness of the staff- the night was highly enjoyable.<br/><br/>We will definitely be back.<br/>

Local Legend in Kew ..... if you can handle the noise and at least $100.00<br/><br/>Very safe place to go for guaranteed good food in this classic, small, older corner Art Deco block. White linen, properly and tastefully set up. <br/><br/>We have never had a bad meal here, not short of $100/head (easy) for a three-course meal with a glass or two of their wines, too many in the house.<br/><br/>You can be assure that Jesse and his team will always makes sure that you'll have a great time there. <br/><br/>The only thing you need to watch for is the noise level, on the ground floor, you could be fighting for some "sound-space" with the next table to be heard. Other than that, easily one of the best culinary experience in Melbourne. <br/><br/>Correct me if I'm wrong that the Executive Chef is never been invited to one of those TV cooking show? <br/><br/>From what we've experienced over the years, this place has more punches than some of those celebrity Chef Italian restaurants in the City and Southbank area.<br/><br/>Keep up the great work Jesse and team.

Centanove provides an excellent option for special Saturday<br/>night dining.  My group of six were all<br/>very happy.  We all had at least 2<br/>courses and a couple of glasses of wine and the bill came to about $110 per<br/>head, so it’s not a cheap night out.  The<br/>stand out dish of the night was the entrée special of tuna with taramasalata.  I had the “Capretto slow cooked with tomato,<br/>garlic & preserved lemon with gnocchi alla romano” .  The Goat meat and sauce was very tasty.  It probably needed something more that than a<br/>piece of the gnocchi alla romano to sop up the sauce.  For dessert I had a tiramisu which was very<br/>good.  Several others had the Chocolate<br/>Fondant which looked delicious.  The staff were very friendly, attentive and professional as you would expect from such a restaurant.  I would recommend<br/>Centanove.

Last week went to Centonove.  The air conditioning upstairs hadn't been working since the morning.  Our large group was not advised beforehand and on what was a very hot night we sweltered.  There was no apology and no attempt to charge our group less.  Other guests were leaving with soaked shirts.  On another occasion we had visited and were very disappointed with the very arrogant red-haired waiter downstairs.  They claim their long term success has been to provide consistently excellent food, friendly and accessible service in an intimate ambience.  They can leave their one hat on .... won't be back!
MMM
After 3 extremely enjoyable 'special occasion meals' in the last year, this is now our go-to local restaurant for celebrations.<br/>The food is absolutely great, with fresh tasty ingredients (love the seafood) and classy if not overly stylised execution which doesn't stray too far from its Italian origins. The serves are not huge (which suits me) and the prices reflect this institution's regular Age Good Food Guide 'one hat' status, but not beyond expectations for 'local special occasion venue' rates.<br/>My limited exploration of the wine list has been restricted to the 'by the glass' offerings, but these have been great - creative wine selections that make ordering a second (or third) hard to resist.<br/>Centonove has become so popular that it can be hard to book a table without decent forward planning, and so is typically busy and a bit noisy - plus if you are not comfortable with 'Italian waiters as theatre' this may not be the place for you.<br/>However if you want to dine on great Italian food in a classy but bubbly setting where both staff & customers are clearly enjoying themselves - and parking is easy - then Centonove is definitely worth a visit (or 3).

The food and service were superb. I had the goat which was a special main and it was delicious. <br/>The wine list is excellent and the fondant for desert was very yummy.

Amazing food.... Good ambience and friendly and well informed waiters. Best goat dish my husband has ever eaten and the fish was fresh and tasty. Great wine list too
Enjoy It
Lovely atmosphere and superb service. Some great produce including home made. Lovely wine choices. Little disappointed with the pasta dishes bit too much sauce for me the pasta itself got a little lost. Would try again

Centonove has been my number one Melbourne restaurant for a long time. Food is always phenomenal, staff are some of the best I have experience, and the whole ambience of the place just draws you back time and time again. I can't wait to come back Centonove!

Fine dining at its best! Can't rate the service high enough ! Servings are on the smaller side but it's all in the flavour- had barramundi and cooked to perfection! Sides of eggplant with tomato and mozzarella! <br/>

I truly cannot fault Centonove in Kew. Service is always professional and the food is just superb. Have been here many times over the years and will continue to do so. The last visit, we did the Lunch Special, 3 courses, plus a glass of wine $45. The best value lunch in town I say ❤️

Just perfect for our 6 month wedding anniversary celebration. Lovely Italian food and excellent wine - we'll be back again.

Oh my goodness – can I tell you? This is, quite simply, one of the best pannacottas I have ever had. It had a great wobble factor, and when you put it in your mouth it just dissolved into creamy heaven. Beautifully plated – the citrus curd and confit orange segments added a gorgeous zesty counterpoint to the creaminess of the pannacotta, and the pistachios had been blitzed into crumbly goodness.

Chilled but classy. The decor is dark, modern and elegant with a large chandelier, marble topped bar and pieces of marble in the red concrete floor. The lower level is cramped compared to upstairs which is filled with light from the large windows, the tables are also spaced decently apart.
Gastrology
We loved the modern techniques and traditional Italian flavours from each dish. Everything was executed very well.

We opted for the set menu, which can be evolved for vegetarians. Mine was to include caprese salad, figs, gnocchi and vanilla panna cotta. The salad consisted of fresh tomatoes (which were sweet and flavoursome), balsamic, baby basil leaves and slices of moist buffalo mozzarella.

A beautiful restaurant with beautiful glassware and even more beautiful food. I can appreciate a good homemade pasta, but I’m not generally a huge fan of Italian food. But Centonove - me like-y very much.

Luckily for my birthday my mother in law gave me a voucher to Centovene restaurant in Kew (thanks Carmel!).  It was one of those really Wintery evenings when I went there with MTV, the sort when you really just want to hibernate at home, but the welcome was warm and Italian at Centovene.   Centovene It’s all “Ciao” and “Buonasera” when you walk in the door and the waiters were throwing in as many Italian phrases as they could during the meal.  The problem is they probably thought we were both crazy as, having just got back from Italy, we started responding to them in our (very basic) Italian out of habit.  I can just imagine them in the kitchen saying “Why do that couple who can’t really speak Italian keep on trying to”.   Fritto misto at Centovene The restaurant is fairly small and we were seated in the upstairs dining room which was very cosy with tables close together and wines lining the wall.  The menu is

A great night. My wife and I went to Centonove for our 20th anniversary. Excellent warn and intimate atmosphere which was a great departure from the current trend of communal dining. The entrée of caprese salad was tasty and fresh, the tomatoes could have been a little riper but it's late in the season so easily forgiveable. For main I had the Berkshire pork cutlet and my wife the veal cotaletta....these were both stunning dishes....full of flavour and perfectly cooked a side of garlic and rosemary roast potatoes completed a perfect ensemble. Desert we shared the vanilla panna cotta with burnt caramel sauce.....yum!! If I was allowed to lick the plate I would have. All of this was matched perfectly with a beautiful dry Prosecco followed by a bottle of Italian Chardonnay. Cafe and afters were also done well. The atmosphere was only enhanced by the young Italian waiters conversing in Italian behind the bar and their cheeky and cheerful banter with other patrons. Marvellous!!

Shhhh dont tell anyone. My god Jess this place is a gem, the Italian "family" that greets you and makes you feel warm and welcome all night is a thrill. We have been coming for a number of years now and I have to say Centonove is my favourite restaurant in Australia. Seafood, pasta, meat dishes, desserts the wine list all perfect. Love your wait staff and love a Friday when Gino is in. Congrats on an amazing restaurant. I don't really want too many people to know how good it is...will make it harder for us to get a booking !

Brilliant start to finish. My partner and I celebrated our sixth anniversary last night at Centonove and I had to share how satisfied I was with the evening. I am not one to ever review anything but all credit is due after the service that we received. <br/><br/>Upon booking a table I asked to arrange a bottle of wine, they did it. We were welcomed by ALL the staff on arrival. We were explained everything on a FIRST NAME basis like we were close family. We were never ignored and the attention to detail from the gorgeous Barbara was magnificent. All credit for what she brings to this business. <br/><br/>Our meals were nothing short of divine. Fresh, in season, carefully prepared and lovingly presented with such care and consideration. Although cocktails are not on the menu, there was NO hesitation to throw together a couple of espresso martinis (also, INCREDIBLE) to enjoy with the most decadent desserts. <br/><br/>We left after a lovely chat with Barbara and really can't wait to return for another magnificent evening. It's nothing short of wonderful to find a local jewel that would sit as comfortably on the best and most exclusive dining streets of Italy as it does it suburban Kew. <br/><br/>FIVE STARS.

I revisited for lunch five years after my last review. The crew were great, the food fabulous and there was no noise as we ageing diners don’t shout. Recommend. <br/><br/><br/>Very professional staff, and so accommodating. Fresh food prepared with great care. But - so so noisy.

GREAT BUT EXPENSIVE. We had a delicious but relatively expensive meal here with friends last night. The actual cost of each meal was not that great but the servings were small making the overall expensive for what was given. Having said that the food was BRILLIANT. The best quality. Nicely served and with great flavours and balance. Service was excellent and VERY knowledgable. We did not have entrees but were given a few very salty black olives and some lovely bread and olive oil. My main course was the beef cheek on polenta. A VERY small serving of a very cheap meat to buy. At $39 this should have been a bigger piece of meat and more polenta also. It was very tender and a rich taste. Evelyn, who is my WIFE and also my girlfriend, had the grilled barramundi. This was also $39 and was a very small but lovely piece. We ordered the roast potatoes and garlic and the eggplant gratin as sides for the four of us. They were also great, Crisp potato pieces and yummy roast garlic. The eggplant gratin was actually the best value dish we had. At $11.90 it was a really big side dish and delicious. Dessert was a soft centred chocolate fondant for Evelyn and the trifle for me. Both very good. Trifle a bit small also in serving but sufficient. I did not order a wine last night. The bill for the 4 of us for the 2 courses each plus 2 side dishes was $27O before a tip. Pricey but EXCELLENT.

Good food - with more than a hint of prentention. <br/><br/>The "signore" to every male at the table gets tiresome - especially when delivered by the Australian red head waiter... Meals however we're delicious, and would recommend this restaurant to any lover of fine Italian cuisine (with big pockets).

How this has 88% positives I have no idea!

Consistently good. An enjoyable night although a little expensive for a main and one bottle of wine. <br/>The staff are excellent especially the lady that has been serving for some years and the food is consistently good.

Since discovering Centonove over five years ago, it has consistently set the benchmark for our Melbourne dining.<br/>Consistently excellent food, consistently excellent service, consistently excellent staff, consistently excellent wine selection with informed waiters, and consistently excellent atmosphere.<br/>We have never left not 100 per cent satisfied.
Andy
One of the best Italian restaurants in Melbourne. Food and service is first class and the atmosphere and decor makes your dining a thoroughly enjoyable experience.

A good restaurant. Very professional. Good food and good service. Tends to be crowded and a little expensive but worth visiting nonetheless. An interesting menu.
Nonstopcare
Well what a let down!. Had this restaurant talked up and it was full of the elite woman of Kew. It kept disappointing, food prepared on rote, day before. A noisy venue is compromised by a menu filled with budget ingredients, flowery tomatoes, tough veal, basically promoting a set menu to clear out the fridge. Passing off yesterdays potatoes reheated, left it all on the plate. Coffee cold, overcharged, vinegary wine, waiters very nice but did not take a second look at it all going back and didn't ask if they could remedy the situation, arrogance gone too far. Rating @ 2/10. Recommend in their interest to eat at Fiorelli in Camberwell as a bench-mark, they do the same menu 10/10, never disappoints. Hope they take a page out of their book and embrace the honest feedback.

We wanted to like this so much, but.... We've been passed here so many times and often wondered "What's Centonove Like?". We finally took the plunge recently, there was much to like, but there are some problems. On the plus side the restaurant is warm and welcoming, with understated decor. We were greeted by friendly staff who ushered us quickly to our table and were attentive and polite without beeing overbearing throughout the meal. The entrees and sweets were extremely good, the tiramisu was frankly outstanding, the best we've tasted in any restaurant in Melbourne, so often ruined with too much cream, here not the case, the balance perfect. It would be tempting to go back just for that, however great as that may be Centonove has issues. If you're looking for an intimate night out with a loved one, forget it. The noise level in here make the MCG on grand final day sound like a quiet zone. It was close to impossible to have a conversation without shouting across the table to be heard. This is not helped by the fact that on the night we were there there were several birthday parties, many with tables of 8 or more, all applying the booze liberally and screaming at each other to be heard above the table next door. Strike 1. The main courses, after good entrees were frankly bland, really could have done a lot better given the quality of what was to come on the dessert platter. They were frankly disappointing. Strike 2. Price - for the best part of $200 including a couple of glasses of wine you'd expect overall this to be a lot better and more consistent. Centonove seems to be trying to be something it isn't and it's priced way too high. Strike 3. So we won't be back, and we won't be recommending this to our friends, and we wouldn't recommend this to you either.

We still haven't stopped raving!. I traveled from the CBD with a group of friends last Saturday night after being told about Centonove. It has been a week and we still haven't stopped talking about the amazing food, service and ambiance. Staff were attentive but not over the top and food came quickly even though the restaurant was full. I had the veal which was beautiful however I should have tried to keep it to myself rather than getting everyone one the table to taste how good it was. We all agreed collectively that it was the best restaurant meal we'd had. To the staff at Centonove THANK YOU!
Strawberry
Fantastic. I dined at Centonove last night for the first time. Three ladies feeling hungry after a movie, we arrived quite late without a booking. The lovely staff advised a table was about to go so they would make that one up for us. They made us feel welcome instead of being a nuisance, which many restaurants can do. The food was amazing: fresh and prepared with love and care. The staff were lovely as was the owner. We will definitely return with our respective partners in tow.
Food Lovers
Always a Winner!. We have dined here many times and it's always been fantastic. Can't fault the service and the food is delicious. For larger groups, it's fun to book the cellar room upstairs. A local must try favourite!

Never fails to impress. Everytime we dine at Centonove its an experience to enjoy.<br/>Great staff even better food, the kingfish entree followed by polenta with oxtail is the favourite at the moment<br/>Terrific cellar with interesting selection of italian wines

A great find in Kew!. We came across Centonove by accident on a Thursday evening, as we were staying at the hotel across the road. It was late, we were tired after a long day of business, but the restaurant staff were very accommodating. Great wine list and the risotto was one of the best I have ever tasted. Wonderful, and we will definitely be back. Thank you!

1st Class Service & Great Food. Dined there Saturday night- we loved the food especially the scallops and suckling pig! Once again the service was spot on - warm, friendly and professional. Highly recommended for that special occasion!
Easytoplease
Lovely atmosphere, great service but a little underwhelmed with the flavours. I wanted to love it. :(
Kylie
Amazing!. The boyf and I went there for our anniversary dinner and had one of the most memorable experiences ever. He had poached veal for entree which was to die for, I had beetroot and goats curd salad - simple yet perfect. For mains I had suckling pig and while i love pork and it was delicious, it could have had a bit more flavour, I felt it needed a little more seasoning. The boyf had the swimmer crab pasta and it was to die for! The ambience is perfect, the staff are nothing short of incredible and, even though it's not somewhere you'd go every week, it is the perfect location for a special occasion.

Wow! Love it! Never disappointed! Comparable to recent meals in Italy, and even better than a lot of those. Excellent service. Great decor. Hard to top!

Fantastic. Do yourself a favour, try this place out. High class food and even better service. Undoubtedly one of my faves.

MIght try it again. We were recommend to go there by friends and clients. I didn't like my pork belly, and my husband thought his dish was ok. We might still go there again and give it another go, as they had great service and wine, however now we have been to Mister Bianco down the road it would be hard to go back to Centonove unless there was a function there for us to go to.

Delightful. All the reviews are spot on, from my perspective. Reasonable servings, quick service, delicious food and attentive staff. Highly recommended and would come back again in a heartbeat

Best service I've experienced. Friendly and helpful. Absolutely delicious food. My favourite restaurant. Hit the mark with wine every time. It's so hard to chose just one meal for each course!

After a recent string of disappointing Resturants, Centonove is a delight. Amazing, superb and worth the price tag.

Have eaten here many times but wont be back! Had set 3 course lunch $55. Menu uninspiring, could do as well (or even better) at home. My main course consisted of a slice of fried veal, a few watercress leaves and slice of lemon. Vegetables were extra $9.50 to $11.50! Staff however very attentive.

Had the most amazing night at centonove. Not one person on our table of eight was disappointed. The wine list was extensive and the waiters were attentive and friendly. Entree: tasting plate for two-perfect. Ocean trout en croute was definitely the favorite. Main: confit duck leg with roman gnocchi-soooo tender. And thank you Jessie for the delicious sides! Dessert: vanilla pannacota with lemon curd-wow. Just wow haha. Highly recommend.

Really loved it. Food was spot on, quail, duck and scollops were perfect. Staff were friendly, attentive but not annoying. We will be back and have already recommended to friends.

A plate of heaven. Gracious and warm service catering to all needs. Delicious entrees, mains and desserts! I recommend the gnocchi for a mouthwatering delicacy. A lovely ambience to place a cherry on top of a divine experience!

Our favourite place. We enjoy nothing better than dining at Centonove the service is first classand the staff are pretty cute, the food always great, try the carmelised onion risotto plus a wonderful winelist. We've been dining here on a regular basis for 10years and it is very consistent. Good to see a restaurant maintain this high standard and keep guests happy

Really nice food and lovely atmosphere. It's not exactly cheap, but you get what you pay for.

Excellent. Been there three times now for both dinner and lunch, and the experience, food and service have always been impeccable. Staff are friendly, it has a great atmosphere and excellent authentic, yet modern food - they are not trying to be something they aren't. It is great to have a reliable and honest restaurant that you can always count on amongst all the hype in Kew. We will be back and continue to recommend this gem to everyone - whether it be to showcase Melbourne's restaurant quality to intersrtate visitors, a special occassion or just a quiet night out - this place is highly recoimmended!!!

Centonove is pretty much perfect (to me) and I have had a wonderful experience each time I've been there. The restaurant is tastefully and understatingly (is that a word?) decorated, the staff friendly and knowledgable. I cannot recommend the 2 or 3 course lunch more highly and is the best for value and quality in Melbourne. It comes with both wine and coffee. Food is just divine, beautifully presented and not tiny like you get at other (express) lunches. Centonove is the one place I recommend most to friends, my only disappointment is that it's not open Sundays!

Amazing! Food was great, service was great. Staff's knowledge of the wine list & accompanying wines with our courses completed the experience. I will be back!

Great food fantastic service. Unfortunately we were placed at a table directly by the door. We were subjected to door opening and people pushing past us. Seems like 3 women dining together do not need to be afforded the same treatment as men or couples dining. We did book by the way.

Goodish. Food was pretty good and not to meager in portion size but had to wait quite long for service even though the place was small and the bookings were well spread in between. <br/><br/>They may have a function room upstairs or behind so service was slowed down. Overall quite pleasant

Get there. I have been to many of Melbourne's reputable restaurants and was extremely happy with one that I have not heard as much about... Centonove ticked all the boxes... Great service, fantastic food and a good atmosphere. I generally don't write reviews but the staff at Centonove have ensured that my wife had a great birthday and it is only fitting that I spread the word so that you too may enjoy a high quality restaurant.

Totally Enjoyable. Beautiful restaurant serving delicious, good quality food. I had the eye fillet, which was cooked to perfection! The pear salad was delicious, as was the beans and roast rosmary and garlic potatoes. The service was great. I totally enjoyed the experience. Looking forward to coming back.

Wow, wow and wow!. I dined at Centonove for the first time last night and was not disappointed. It's the best restaurant meal I have had in a long time! Centanove pulls off that elusive mix of top notch food and atmosphere, managing to feel a bit special without being stuffy. It does simple flavours really well and there was no doubt that all the ingredients used were the freshest of fresh and the best of the best. I started with the peppered beef carpaccio - melt-in-the-mouth beef, truffled parmesan and rocket. At risk of sounding pretentious, I don't think I have had carpaccio that good since I was in Italy. For main, both my companion and I couldn't go past the crab spaghettini. Again, a simple mix of the freshest ingredients bursting with flavour. Wow. Portion size was spot on and left us both feeling satisfied without feeling overfull. Last, but not least, dessert. Cherry and Almond torte, which was more a tart than a torte, but no less delicious for it. I can't drink at the moment, so had to forego the wine, but my companion seemed happy with her options by the glass. I cannot wait to go back. Highly recommended.

Dined at Centonove tonight for about the third time, and wasnt disappointed. I guess that's why I keep going back! The food always impresses, with something for everyone. I had the slow roasted suckling pig which was lovely. Also had the tasting plate to start which had a good range of interesting items in it. A very minor gripe would only be that a drop more wine in the wines served by the glass might be nice. Apart from that - excellent!
