Review Percy's Aeroplane - Kew

Simone
On the day we visited, we were lucky enough that the weather was lovely so we could sit outside. One of the staff, Tess took care of us and gave us a great menu explanation. We choose the Baked Shuska, Grilled Asparagus and the Brioche Tower (a dish they were trialling for the menu) The Baked Shuska was still bubbling as it was served to us. It looked and tasted like proper comfort food. A nice bit of heat and spice. We liked tucking into it with the side of toast. The Grilled Asparagus (with a side of thyme mushrooms) smelt great and was presented well. The mushrooms were very tasty. We thought it was a nice dish. It had a good selection of textures and flavours. The egg was done well. The Brioche Tower was very colourful. A yummy tower of toasted brioche logs. The macaroons were carefully placed on top. The ice cream was a great accompaniment to the brioche. There were some nice flavours too. Thank you Percy's Aeroplane for having us.

Great coffee, and friendly staff. Plenty of dining spaces, with outdoor seating and courtyard. Support local.

Percy’s Aeroplane is a local favourite for residents around the area and we popped by as we were staying quite close. Lovely decor with open brick walls paired with my favourite colour, yellow! My grilled asparagus breakfast with smoked salmon, poached egg and smashed avocado on whole grain toast was decent, but nothing to write home about.

There was only one person working - no menus. We walked to the back because we had a dog and everything was over grown and spider weds everywhere. The umbrella didn’t work either. Unfortunately it seems like they haven’t been doing so well. I feel like they need more support but don’t expect too much

Delicious food and coffee, dog friendly and perfect for brunch!!! They have a variety of brunch dishes savoury and sweet. Staff are very friendly and food doesn't take long to come to you. The matcha latte was o point, bitter as matcha should be and came with maple syrup on the side in case you want to sweeten it up. The matcha pancakes were very delicious aswell, beautifully presented and not overly sweet. They have an open area in the back were tou can sit with your dog and have a nice brunch.

The size of Matcha Latte is big but the flavour is not strong. The Matcha Hotcakes as well. I give 4 stars because their food and drink are beautiful and staffs are friendly.

Great food, I really loved the French toast and husband loved his pulled pork, staying it's one of his best breakfasts ever. Service was friendly & prompt and had a nice atmosphere with comfortable seating

Great little cafe just off the main shopping street. Genuine interior, nice and attentive staff, and a delicious butterbing cookie for an acceptable price. (I have only been here once! Weekday midafternoon)

Have not had an experience at a Melbourne eatery as terrible as at this cafe. Waited more than 15minutes to simply get some water and menus for the table (it had to be requested). The staff needed to be reminded about the coffee orders that were made and after a 30 minute wait, our beverages were served. We made many excuses for the cafe to reason with their abysmal customer service, but quite frankly, i've been to much bigger cafes/restaurants than Percy's Aeroplane and the service has always managed to be great. There is simply no good enough excuse for such terrible cafe etiquette. We ended up leaving the cafe, without our food which still hadn't been served to our table after more than a 1.45 hour wait. What was hoped to be a great birthday brunch for a friend turned out to be an absolute waste of time (we travelled 40minutes especially to try out this place), and a disappointment in every aspect.

Very uncool! I've come in for a coffee & cake & was just about to be served when the waitress walked to another table gave them a glass for the extra person who arrived - that's cool. Makes sense. And I was ignored!! Waiting, waiting, waiting. I've just walked out. Such a pity, your food is fabulous, but today. I'm upset & disappointed. 3 wait staff at the counter, and I looked up to try and catch their eyes several times. Nothing? So I've walked out & across the road to Blue Fox. Where the food is eclectic, modern , interesting & the staff saw me, served me & now I'm in a happy place. Percy's Aeroplane, it might be some long while before I'm back!!

Stellar coffee funky vibe friendly staff. Yummy food as well. Would return every time

By far the worst cafe experience I have had. I would not recommend this place to anyone. We were told our meals would take approximately half an hour and after waiting for 1 hour 15 minutes, we decided to leave.

Nice place, staff and food but the servings should be bigger. The brushetta only came with one piece of bread and for the price I feel it should be 2.
Margaret Zerner
It was one of the best breakfasts I've had. Great eggs, thyme mushrooms are really delicious. Lovely service, great Barista. Perfect coffee every time. Happy Happy Happy.

I used to think these guys were GOLD with 5 stars but something has changed! The service is still good with a very friendly barrister/server but all other aspects have let the place down. It's looking a bit tired and rundown, especially out the back in the courtyard. The food was a massive let down...how do you stuff up avocado on toast you ask??? 1. A measly portion, 2. No fresh herbs: a bit of tasteless parsley does NOT count! 3. No visual appeal: don't be sucked in by the facebook photos, that's not what they're serving on an everyday basis. 4. Did I mention the measly portion of Avo? Dumped on the plate in a ball. There were two slices of tasty bread/toast but not enough avo for the second piece!
Robyn Burton Clark
My serving on Saturday was particularly tiny. Avocado on toast... a small scoop of under seasoned mashed avo doesn't cut it.

Wow! Absolutely amazing service and delicious food
Katie Russell
Amazing service food, coffee and atmosphere here! Was thrilled to see that the place was deserving of the 5star rating that it has
Tess Presso
Love it. The yellow theme had me at hello. I have written a full review on my site.

Great coffee and prompt service... my first stop when in Kew.

Cute lil cafe & friendly service! Excellent first time experience
Kate Marshall
Went for breakie and devoured the asparagus on toast after a recommendation from friendly and helpful staff. The coffee was delicious...I'll be back!

First visit. Only a take away to start. The coffee was quick, hot and delicious!

Pretty well cuisine and test. Highly recommend.

I went for brunch today with my mum and a family friend and the food and coffee were sensational! Staff were friendly and attentive too which is what makes your dining experience that much enjoyable. Will definitely visit again!

Nice place with funky decor and friendly service. The coffee was tasty. I ordered the BLT which was nice however I wish they hadn’t toasted it with the lettuce inside. This changed the flavour as the lettuce was limp and soggy.

Sad to leave a low rating, but as nice as some of the food we had was, we were let down by pork ‘crackling’ in the Pulled Pork Benny that was off. 100% sure about this - it tasted & smelt rancid. Coupled with inconsistent service, freezing cold and uninspiring back room with dirty table. Seriously, i reserved a table for 6 so surely they could have cleaned it?? First 3 meals came out, remaining 2 took another 10 mins to come (strangely enough one was a Bircher muesli for my 4 year old...) and never received the chai latte I ordered.....<br/>Such a shame as the other meals were pretty tasty. We told our waitress about the off pork when we went to pay, and she looked horrified and apologised. And that was it. No offer to compensate, nothing. So I would recommend taking your business elsewhere.

Great cafe with friendly staff. Quality food made on site. Great seating indoors and out. Parking limited on side streets but worth the effort. One of the best in this part of Kew

Interested to try this little place as always seemed pretty busy when I have driven past. Bit of a grungy feel but food display looked reasonable except for the sausage rolls sitting unrefrigerated on the counter. It not only looks bad but highlights a lack of food safety understanding. Coffee was ok, but just on the warm side of warm.

With high Zomato rating and interesting menu, a group of 8 foodies arrived at this cafe in Kew.  Parking is at the back street. Eight of us ordered roasted Mushrooms, roasted Eggplants, pumpkin stack, Pull Pork Benedict, Thai beef salad, and fried chickens with aioli.  Every dish was in beautiful presentation, the ingredients were very fresh, the flavors were so delicious.  Even the fried chicken was juicy and well cooked. <br/>There are many vegetarian choices and gluten free dishes.   Muffins and cakes are the best company for coffee and cake.  What more could you want?  We will definitely come back soon.

A super adorable small gem nestled in Kew ran by the sweetest crew!<br/><br/>FOOD: I ordered the Matcha Pancakes and at first, when I walked into the cafe, the menu didn’t seem to feature it and I was about to leave heartbroken because I saw it on so many foodie instagrams but I asked the lovely staff and they told me they did it! Turns out I forgot to read the specials menu displayed in front 😅 However, the matcha pancakes were really lovely and tasted amazingly! I’ve been craving for matcha pancakes and Melbourne was surprisingly rare with it! The pancakes were perfectly fluffy, the ice cream complemented and didn’t overpower it while the berries provided tart flavours! The matcha taste was also so so amazing and lovely! It was a really amazing and special dish that I’m glad I travelled out for 🥰<br/><br/>SERVICE: The service is so lovely and every one of the staff members have a smile on their face that makes even the gloomiest of mornings a bright one! The cafe had a homey vibe and the staff was definitely a big part why ❤️<br/><br/>Percy’s Aeroplane is a hidden gem that truly makes everyone feel at home and delivers amazing food at really reasonable prices! I’d definitely recommend trying the matcha pancakes for something a little different from the regular ol’ hotcake ❤️

Disappointing food & certainly nowhere near the high standard I was expecting based on Zomato rating. Ordered bruschetta with smashed avo & cherry tomatoes - nothing special. Ran out of sour dough so had plain multi grain bread. Smashed avo consistency was too runny-not sure what they mixed in with it? Latte was exceptional but would not return for food.<br/>
The High Tea Girl
I sat outside for hours as l enjoyed some of my favourite meals of 2018! <br/>The matcha hotcakes with delicious ‘house’ made brownies drizzled with Nutella and fresh berries and the Brioche tower (a special)! The Brioche was so incredibly buttery served with ice cream, raspberries, pistachio and macarons- just divine. <br/>You also have to try their matcha latte, they do pretty latte art too. <br/>What I love about this place the most is that the staff are so lovely and it’s so cosy inside and out.

A cute little cafe in Kew which showcases the colour yellow and sticks with the theme of aeroplanes throughout its interior & exterior decor. The ambience is quiet and relaxing whilst the service is prompt and the staff are friendly.
Melbourniancritic (The Melbourne Experience)
Located on the quieter end of Kew Junction discover Percy’s Aeroplane, a charming little cafe boasting high ceilings, exposed brickwork and a very relaxed vibe.  Open 7 days a week,  Percy’s Aeroplane serves a tasty line up of brunch options, along with your much needed coffee fix by Padre and seasonal single origin coffees by Market Lane, for those coffee aficionados out there.
Liangashleynn
I ordered the mister Percy and the bacon was nice and crispy and it was nice and warm but there’s always room for improvement so I rate it a 4
Taeyeon's Hamster
A warm strong coffee is definitely what you need in Melbourne's wet weather. Slightly off Kew Junction, Percy's is another good coffee spot in Kew. There wasn't a queue but the wait for the coffee after ordering was rather longer than expected. Percy's serve full bodied specialty small-batch roasted coffee from Padre roasters. Taste wise, the coffee was strong, on the borderline of 4/5 but the aroma was fairly weak. The rich texture and bitterness constructed a flavoursome balanced coffee.

> Matcha Hotcakes with Japanese green tea hotcakes sandwiched between a Nutella brioche donut drizzled with chocolate ganache, pistachio + a dollop of whipped cream, red berried, both fresh and reduced throughout <<br/><br/>The sound of hotcakes always puts a smile on my face, but when I saw these were Matcha flavoured I could not resist trying them! A tall tower of goodness stacked with chocolate sauce and fluffy pancakes. The pancakes had a ton of flavour and the chocolate sauce topped them off. The element that enhanced this chocolate flavour even more was the raspberries in 2 forms. The way they layered this was genius and I really enjoyed the sweetness from the chocolate and sour flavours from the berries. The stack was complemented with 2 thick brownie pieces which didn’t even last a minute on the plate. The brownie was rich and soft and I reckon I could eat it for the rest of my life (if getting fat didn’t exist)<br/><br/> <br/><br/>> Almond Milk Porridge with quinoa + rolled oats sweetened with Canadian maple syrup, stewed apples, pomegranates + spiced blueberries <<br/><br/>Porridge is my favourite dish to warm me up on a cold winter’s day, and that is exactly what this one did. The portion size of this was not massive and it was presented on a plate rather than in a bowl. It was very thick and packed with flavour. The berried and honey added a heap of flavour and made it a really hearty dish. It is a heavy dish to consume because it is milk based, but it doesn’t leave you feeling too full or sick.<br/><br/>> Pumpkin Stack with a roasted pumpkin crescent topped with a herbal meledy of quinoa, cauliflower, kale, cranberries + mixed seeds nestled in a spread of cashew macadamia mousse <<br/><br/>If you weren’t aware, I am kind of obsessed with pumpkin. As soon as I saw this dish I knew it was going to be in my stomach within the next 30 minutes! The roast pumpkin was huge and was cooked perfectly. The blend of quinoa, cauliflower, kale, cranberries and seeds were really tasty and energising. The blend of all of this made for a very delicious and hearty meal. To eliminate the salad feel of the dish, the poached eggs and macadamia mousse helped to blend the elements together and create a really nice and filling breakfast dish. You don’t see too many of these kinds of meals on a café menu so if you’re looking for something out of the ordinary and very tasty, then I recommend giving this a shot!

Food: I had the smashed avocado, a simple but tasty dish. The bread could’ve been toasted a bit more though, as it was a bit soggy. The little pomegranate seeds were a great burst of freshness. <br/><br/>My mum and sister both enjoyed their dishes (soft shell crab burger and Mr Percy). The soft shell crab was not overwhelmed with batter but actually had a good amount of crab meat. The fries were fantastic, light and crispy.<br/><br/>Drinks: The matcha latte was perfectly bitter. The chai latte is one of the best I’ve had, as the taste of the spices was strong (whereas most places do it quite weak). <br/><br/>Price: The value for a lot of their items is pretty good compared to your standard brunch. In particular, the smashed avo with two poached eggs (only $3 to add), and the burger with added fries (only $3.80 to add) were great value. <br/><br/>Service: We came for Mother’s Day and made a booking in advance. Surprisingly not busy, and they have more space out the back. Our waitress was very friendly and welcoming.
Melbourne To Mouth
Percy’s Aeroplane is an adorable little spot in Kew serving up some delicious morsels in the quaintest and cosiest cafe you can imagine.<br/>Rocking up later in the day they were going through a busy patch but we still nabbed a table easily and kicked off with some amazing coffee and iced chocolate.<br/>While every man and his dog that’s been here has been trying the matcha hotcakes, we went for a couple of their savory options in their take on a shakshuka (delicious) and their pulled pork benny - both were amazing and perfectly portioned. Ending on a sweeter note with their french toast, theirs has to be up there in the top 3 best french toast dishes I’ve had in the last year, amazing!<br/>Definitely make your way to Percy’s for their equally delicious and instagrammable dishes soon!

What a hidden gem. We spent 3hours here! It may look like a small brunch place but there’s a garden and back room with more tables. <br/><br/>We were seated in the garden it felt like someone’s home. The staff were friendly and atmosphere was perfect on a warm autumn day. <br/><br/>We had the soft shell crab burger which was filled with salad and a giant meaty soft shell crab. Usually soft shell crabs are tiny with little meat but this burger was amazing. The side of sweet potatoes fries were crunchy and delicious.<br/><br/>We also had the bruschetta. A simple yet delicious dish. The balsamic vinegar decorating the plate of the dish lifted the flavour and with the extra chorizo it was the perfect breakfast.<br/><br/>To finish we had the best matcha pancakes! A cute stack of 4 pancakes with raspberry jam and fresh berries topped with soft chocolate brownies it was to die for. <br/><br/>If I lived in the area it would definitely be my local brunch spot!

great cafe in an unassuming location. friendly staff, good coffee and food. I have visited the cafe whenever in Kew and it never disappoints.

The staff was very friendly, we arrived just after when they finished taking orders and kitchen was preparing to close. But they still catered for us. <br/><br/>The coffee was pretty good. I love my soy lattes and this didn’t disappoint. Tasted my girlfriends mocha, I quite liked it as well, the mixture between chocolate and coffee was just right. <br/><br/>I ordered the pulled pork Benedict. I didn’t mind it but the crispy skin was too oily for my liking. I tried my girlfriends baked shuska and that was pretty tasty. However my girlfriend says she’s had better. <br/><br/>Overall good experience in food, staff was very friendly and would defiantly come again if I was in the area.

I was so happy to be invited over to Percy's Aeroplane Café for a collab to sample the delicious items I had seen all over their Instagram. Overall, it was a pleasant experience and I will be coming back!  <br/><br/>Service: As the brunch was already organised advance, we were greeted warmly by the waiters, and given the liberty to sit wherever we chose for the best photos! We were offered to select drinks (Matcha Latte and Hot Chocolate) which arrived rather promptly. However after this, we seemed to be forgotten for a while and had to go and approach the counter to order our dishes. Unfortunately, the dishes took around half an hour to arrive and we were actually in quite a rush. Despite this, the waiters brought a positive attitude and were quite kind. Hopefully next time they would be more attentive and speed up the cooking a bit.    <br/><br/>Food: All the food was enjoyed by my brunch partner and myself. The highlight and the dish we would no doubt return for, was the Baked Shuska. Not only were the flavours perfectly balanced, the dish was presently nicely, it had a lovely aroma of Middle Eastern spices and stayed warm and bubbly from the start to finish. No faults! The matcha hotcakes were a dish I had been keen to try as well. It was a bit disappointing that they had replaced the Nutella brioche donut with brownies, however the brownies were quite delicious. The matcha hotcakes were not overly sweet themselves, the berries added an element of colour and tang, which were balanced by the rich chocolate sauce. The chocolate sauce was a bit too sweet for my liking, but was fine as it there was not too much. Everyone loves a fried chicken burger, so we ordered that as well. The kimchi slaw, pickled cucumber and sriracha came together very nicely. Besides the inevitable hurdle of trying to eat the burger, the panko crumbed chicken was quite dense and slightly dry. We demolished it nonetheless! All in all, the food was very reasonable!   <br/><br/> Ambiance: The café itself is in quite a secluded location on a busy street near an intersection, however there were still quite a few customers popping in and out and filling up the tables. The café does have outdoor seating and a function room, however the function room is separate with dark, yellow lighting which isn't very appealing. Perhaps it was because we came on a gloomy day but the lighting in the entire space was a bit difficult to work with. Another slight problem was that going to the bathroom required exiting to the outdoors area...and I could only do so if I went through the door to rain bucketing down from leakage and a dip in the roof. I did not end up going. On the other hand, the café environment is quite cozy and there is a display of yummy slices and cakes on display. On a sunny day, I imagine this would be a nicer brunch venue.

Hidden gem in Kew! <br/>We really really love this place. Everything is just delish! <br/>Food and drinks are perfect for weekends brunch.<br/><br/>The staff is every friendly and helpful. The barista seems to know most customers by name, which shows how friendly they are.<br/><br/>The cafe has a cozy vibe with a modern touch to Melbourne style brunch. <br/><br/>Our fav dishes were the soft shell crab burger and egg benny!

Recently my husband and I visited Percy’s Aeroplane Cafe and tried an array of their dishes. I really enjoyed the atmosphere of the cafe and loved the cosy feel. <br/><br/>I found that even though the cafe was constantly filled with customers everyone was given the same amount of enthusiasm and attention. <br/><br/>The coffee was well done and I especially enjoyed my cold drip coffee. We also ordered a matcha latte, as we are huge fan of anything matcha. The size of the drinks were huge! I’ve never had such a big matcha latte in my life. We thoroughly enjoyed the dishes we ordered and found that the portions were also very generous. The price of the dishes and drinks were fair. <br/><br/>In terms of parking, we easily found parking around the corner and only had to walk a few minutes. <br/><br/>I think it’s a beautiful place to dine at and I would recommend trying it out.<br/><br/>Find out more on my website and Instagram <br/><br/>www.thelittlehungrylife.com.au
Good Food Good Mood
I was delighted to be invited to Percy’s Aeroplane as having read the reviews I probably wouldn’t have gone there. All I can assume is they have taken the feedback received onboard as my experience was one of utter deliciousness. Extensive seating options awaited us with the two indoor sections both nicely decked out but we eventually settled on the outdoor courtyard for a dose of vitamin d. <br/>We sipped on lemon infused water while we awaited our beverages, a mixed fresh juice for me and a coffee for hubby. We both enjoyed our drinks with the juice being particularly refreshing. <br/>Food wise we opted for the bruschetta, the Bircher and the mushroom dish.<br/>I must admit I’d anticipated a different presentation for the bruschetta as it arrived appearing like more of a deconstructed version but it was sublimely tasty. This was also very reasonably priced. My partner enjoyed his thyme infused mushrooms and I was super impressed with the Bircher. Once again extremely reasonable price wise and came out as pretty as a picture. It was accompanied by a little jug of maple which allowed you to sweeten to taste. It was perfect for me without maple and the different fruits provided various textures be it fresh, stewed or dried. <br/>They also have a range of delights in the cake cabinet including house made (and even a few vegan options) as well as lots of treats catered by some of my favourite suppliers; Oregano, Butterbing and Butter Mafia. Young and friendly staff enhanced the pleasant experience we had. I think this place is seriously underrated
The Brunch Specialist
Percy’s Aeroplane is great little cafe in Kew. The menu looks promising, with a good selection of sweet and savoury. Coffee was also good, especially the cold brew, which is perfect during the summer months.<br/><br/>My friend and I ordered the Mister Percy and Matcha Hotcakes to share. Both dishes were beautifully presented. <br/><br/>Both of us agreed, the standout dish was the Matcha Hotcakes! The brownie tasted amazing and the berries helped balance the sweetness of the dish.<br/><br/>The Mister Percy was customised to be vegetarian. We substituted the bacon with a side of mushrooms. The egg was poached perfectly and the homemade chipotle was very tasty. In terms of flavour, I found the dish to be average. However, I’d be interested to go back and try out the rest of the menu.<br/><br/>Service was fantastic. All the staff were friendly and attentive. Overall, I highly recommend you check out Percy’s Aeroplane Cafe if you are in the area.<br/>
The Fo0die
Fo0die dined as a guest of Percy’s Aeroplane and as such, the rating does not give any consideration to customer service.         <br/><br/>The cafe has a promising menu with quite a few dishes we looked at and thought we could definitely try this. And if the special is any indication of the future additions to the menu that might come in 2018, the cafe is going in the right direction.

Percy’s Aeroplane is a cute as a button local Kew cafe serving up some really lovely food. <br/>Complete with bright yellow walls, an outside courtyard and plenty of cosy nooks for coffee catchups, it really is a gorgeous cafe with a very welcoming feel to it. <br/>Our almond milk lattes were very nice, piping hot and they definitely satisfied our morning caffeine cravings. For food, we shared two dishes: the grilled asparagus and bircher muesli. <br/><br/>The grilled asparagus was the perfect healthy, savoury summer brunch. It came with a generous portion of smoked salmon which was lovely quality, a nice dollop of smashed avocado, a poached egg, beetroot goats curd and toast. I would definitely order this again, it was delicious! We particularly enjoyed the nutty flavour of the dukkah and the multigrain bread, but most of all the combination of all those different elements just worked a real treat together. <br/><br/>We also ordered the bircher muesli which was soaked with apple juice and also came with a little jug of maple syrup if you wanted it sweeter. This was definitely one of the nicest Birchers I’ve had. The combination of fresh/poached/dried fruit along with an assortment of seeds really elevated the texture and taste of the muesli. A real winner on a hot day when you’re wanting something sweet and healthy. <br/><br/>As my third time here, I knew what to expect in terms of food, service & ambiance and I was not disappointed. Percy’s Aeroplane is a really great Kew brunch destination that I will keep coming back to.

Great cafe in Kew. Almost missed it driving past if I wasn't specifically looking for it.<br/>Spots for 2 hour parking available just around the corner. <br/>Enjoyed the outdoor seating on a nice sunny afternoon. <br/>The Matcha Hotcakes were amazing, I'm still thinking about it a whole week later *drools*<br/>Service was lovely, polite and welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble.<br/>Coffee was on point!<br/><br/>Will be back for more - for sure.

You know the disappointment of a brunch cafe not having the dish you came all the way for? That's how I felt at Percy's Aeroplane. I came all the way for their baked shuskha and the waitress told me - quote "Sorry we ran out of baked eggs.. we didn't realise it was so popular, I am going to get some ingredients for the baked eggs after I take your order and will take min. 30 minutes till I get back". So, naturally I was very disappointed and had to try another dish on the menu which was Mister Percy (like their version of big breakfast).<br/><br/>When I ordered the Mister Percy dish, I specifically asked the waitress twice if they do Extra Prosciutto for the dish. The Aussie waitress told me "Yep no problem". Guess what happened? My dish arrived and instead of extra Priosciutto, they added extra Thyme mushrooms instead. So, I told the Aussie waitress and another waitress serving me that I requested for extra prosciutto, not mushrooms. The asian waitress with glasses serving me said "No, we don't have any prosciutto available as extra's". Then, I told her that's not what the other waitress said. Both of them looked confused and looked at each other, I knew instantly it was a communication problem. <br/><br/>The waitress serving me said let me check with the kitchen. She came back and said no we cannot do extra prosciutto. So, we went around in circles just to find out I got extra mushrooms instead for my dish. Also, I was CHARGED for my extra mushroom when it was very clearly their mistake. They didn't even offer any form of compensation or waive the extra charge for the mushroom. <br/><br/>I must say, I either came on their off day or the cafe has been extremely disappointing to me. I have been to many brunch cafes in Melb and never have I came across a cafe that doesn't HAVE A DISH THEY ADVERTISE ON THE MENU. WOULD NOT go back again.

Went here for brunch on a weekday, it was busy even so and staff were friendly and attentive. The food was good; my partner got a Percy’s breakfast which was ok (though he said the coffee was really good)and I got the new Korean burger which was tasty, with a side of herb rosti which was delicious around the edges though could have been crispier in the middle. Atmosphere was nice and cosy.

Everything is awesome good experience the breakfast is good choice to so here a very good morning needs a very good coffee that they make 👌🏻

Great food, great atmosphere. Not the biggest cafe but it was cosy. Food was amazing eith generous servings and the coffee was on point. I would definately recommend for anyone who just wants a lazy brunch.

Best Bircher muesli ever!!! The little courtyard was perfect for a summers day. Amazing. I will definitely be back to try some more food nom nom nom

I love a delicious egg Benedict on pulled pork~ I have always been curious to try this cafe every time I drove past. Finally got down here and I will surely be coming back. This place is great for some relaxed brunch and coffee, and especially when I don't feel like driving too far. It's just so close to where I live~ just awesome!

Saw on Zomato a great rating cafe so decided to come here as we were in the area. Nice small cafe. We went around 2pm so was not crowded. The staff were friendly. I tried the Mr Percy, which was okay as I didn't quite like the combination with the potato roasti.. I would have preferred bread/toast with that instead. Loved the art on the matcha latte😍 Would like to come back to try their other dishes.
FoodieLoveEatFood
It is a small cafe. The food and coffee both quite average here. Cant really remember how they taste like LOL. Kew got some other options to have good brunch. Probably not gonna return.
Food Queen
Ordered the Percy's Mister which was absolutely delicious. Really good portion and the bacon is so nice and crunchy. The capsicum sauce was very unique and went pretty well with the dish. <br/>I ordered salmon on the side hehe. <br/><br/>Cafe is pretty small but quite cosy. Would love to come here again! <br/><br/>Staff are super friendly too. Thank you for the great service! <br/>

Great breakfast, healthy and tasty. We had the Bircher muesli and the asparagus with smoked salmon both delicious. Good service and friendly, relaxed atmosphere. Definitely will go back there. Coffee was great too!
Speccy
Very friendly & accommodating staff. The specialty coffee was lovely. We enjoyed the pumpkin stack & the shakshuka. These were both extremely tasty, however were more adventurous in comparison to the other menu items that looked pretty stock standard for a Kew cafe.. Would be good to see some more unique, stand out options. The homemade fruit bread is a MUST try. So dense & jam packed with fruit & spices.

I had coffee and a croissant with cheese. First They served the croissant with unmelted cheese and I asked them to toast it a bit longer and I ended up having burned croissant. Half of the croissant was completely burnt and uneatable. I told the staff when we paid , I was willing to pay for it , not a big but wanted to give them feedback. The staff tried to make an excuse that firstly they couldn't toasted it till the cheese melt and when they did it again , it just burnt. This is completely their mistake and they should not have served something that is uneatable. This is common sense.
FOOD TRIP
Percy’s Aeroplane is a cute little café that does amazing coffee. Lots of food options to choose from, but nothing too extraordinay. Would come back for some coffee though. Latte $3.80Cappuccino $3.80. Delicous coffees that were smooth and easy to drink. No sugar needed. 8.5/10. Smashed Avocado on Toast $14.50 with Poached Eggs (extra $3)

The service was excellent and the staff was extremely friendly and warm the food options are quite refined and few. Breakfast might not be a good time to come but if your looking for a place to have brunch, lunch or dinner it will be a great place. However I do feel $14.5 for French toast is a little too much.

We ordered their two signature dishes, the Mr Percy and the pulled pork Benedict. The Mr Percy is essentially eggs, bacon, avocado on a potato rosti, with a chipotle capsicum sauce.<br/>The pulled pork is not what we expected, it tasted like roast pork cooked until it becomes shredded, along with the carrots and onions. Didn't feel quite right with eggs and bread...
Melbourne Foodie
Average brunch place. We bought a Groupon voucher which gave us two mains with drinks for maybe $20-$25? Can't really remember the exact price. <br/><br/>We both ordered the potato rosti with poached egg, bacon, avo and chili capsicum sauce. The individual elements were good however the dish was not balanced. There was way too much potato rosti, a tiny amount of bacon (not even one full slice of bacon) and only one egg. If it was full price ($18) I would have expected more bacon and egg and would not be happy with it. However for the Groupon price, I thought it was@ ok. <br/><br/>The coffee was seriously burnt and sour, we didn't drink it. The tea was good though.
Natalie Hungry Go Lucky
Percy's Aeroplane Cafe delivered in terms of service, taste and appearance however, a few hiccups prevented me from giving them a higher score. The Chai Latte and Pumpkin Stack were definitely a highlight for me and the service was notable too.
Monerih Jamali
Freindly service, tasty alternatives to coffee (matcha latte, tumerica latte). Cosy environment with very friendly staff. <br/>Great space to get some work done as it has strong wifi connection (but no powerpoint to charge your laptop).

Percy's Aeroplane is a pocket sized cafe located in Kew and quite a popular brunch destination in the neighborhood. They got such an adorable interior design and welcoming atmosphere; bright, youthful and cheery from the major applications of yellow colors and red bricks, the space was also embellished with cute decorations that matches with their theme perfectly. <br/><br/>For my brunch, I went with their most popular offering, Matcha Hotcakes. The presentation was very orgasmic to the eye, pictured this - two green tea hotcakes sandwiched between a Nutella brioche donut drizzled with chocolate ganache and garnished with berries and whipped cream. Sounds incredible delicious ain't it? Well... Not so much. The hotcakes were completely soggy, drenched with disgustingly sweet and runny chocolate and smothered with the bitter raspberry jam.... Overall, it tasted way too confusing for my simple palate. <br/><br/>I also got their matcha latte, and it came in a cute "bear" presentation, but taste-wise, it was equally disappointing. Despite of the bright green color, there was no hint of the green tea, no sweetness, no taste whatsoever, this to me tasted just like a plain warm milk. <br/><br/>Overall, other than the playful interior layout and the gorgeous looking food, color me unimpressed.

Absolutely love this place, I have been here a few times now and will never hesitate going back. Never disappoints. great food great staff. Local gem.

Good food however the service was shocking. A coffee order was mixed up and given to the wrong person. We said it was fine to switch once we realised, however the waiter insisted that we get a new coffee made. 5 mins later the waiter came back just to let us know that we would be charged for both the coffees!! After the coffee order we were left waiting for a while before anyone asked us if we wanted food. Water jug stayed empty for the majority of the time we were there and there was no pepper on our table or any of the tables near us. Quite disappointing as I've been here before and thought it was quite good. Don't think I'll be returning any time soon.
Love At First Bite
Find us on instagram: loveatfirstbite_aus<br/><br/> Percy’s Aeroplane cafe is a cute local Kew cafe that does a simple but great collection of brunch dishes. We have been to a couple of times so will share what we ordered from both occasions. The cafe has a cute interior and inspiration quotes on cushions which we thought was a nice touch. <br/><br/>For our drinks we ordered the matcha latte and the filter V60 pourover. The matcha latte was authentic and strong, there was no sugar added (unlike some chain coffee shops that pack it with sugar) which allows for flexibility when it comes to how sweet you want to make your drink.

Percy’s Aeroplane Café is cosy, although it is quite small. Apart from this, as being a daily customer, I always look forward to their coffees provided by Market Lane, and it does get you through the day for a quick caffeine fix.<br/>So far throughout my few experiences I have tried three of their dishes. The first dish I’ve ordered was the Nutella Matcha Pancakes and I never knew how amazing it was – the taste somehow gave me a combination of: the bitter taste (very light) of the matcha from the pancakes, the sweetness from the Nutella and Choc Ganache, and sourness from the berries.<br/>My second dish was Mr Percy, and I thoroughly enjoyed the meal. Bacon, smashed arvo on potato rosti and the spicy capsicum sauce. I had this for breakfast at 7.30am - really good if you want to spice things up to get around on a cold morning.<br/>And finally the third dish I tried was the Pulled Pork Benedict, which really didn’t sit well for me. The pork was very dry and struggled to get it down (water would help). In terms of presentation it looked quite ordinary and not appealing. On the side I had a Matcha Latte which was average. I was bit disappointed that it wasn’t served on a standard coffee cup but instead I had a large dose of it on a glass cup.<br/>Overall, it is a good café to go to, just there are some dishes you may need to give it a miss. I’d still come back for the coffee though!! 😊<br/>- Rob

We like the vibe of this place - cute and cosy. Food is overall good but it's like other cafes where they offer standard types of brunch dishes. Love the Matcha latte by Zenwonders Matcha and filter coffee from Market Lane. <br/><br/>The only thing that could be improved: <br/>Make sure the staff who go in and out through the backyard door to close the door behind them. I sat right next to the door and throughout the lunch they went in and out no less than 20 times and 95% of time the staff left the door open and me having my meal in cold winds. I did remind one of the staff and he did eventually remember to close it. However not the rest of the staff.

I chose Percy's Aeroplane for breakfast with my mum on Mother's Day. Service was good, drinks and meals came fairly quickly. The food was portioned well and we all felt quite full afterwards. <br/><br/>We were sat in the back room which was quite dark and cold compared to the front area, which we would have preferred to sit in. <br/><br/>Overall pretty good, nice aesthetic. <br/>

My friend and I came here as part of a GroupOn voucher we bought online. From the moment we walked into the store, we were greeted warmly - by both the baristas working at the counter and by the radiating heaters (making this a prime location for brunch on a cold day). <br/><br/>We ordered a Percy Thyme and Matcha Pancakes, with coffees to accompany our meal. The service was fast and before long we were served two gloriously instagrammable and delicious meals. The garlic and thyme mushrooms were flavoursome and delightful, complete with an avocado smash and poached egg. The matcha pancakes are truly unique and beautiful; with thick and fluffy matcha pancakes topped with a Nutella brioche donut, and decorated with berries and flowers, this was pleasing to the eyes and tastebuds. <br/><br/>I can imagine this cafe to be very busy during weekends, so bookings are probably recommended. I look forward to coming back to Percy's Aeroplane cafe! :)
@twogoodtoresist
Percy's offers an entertaining menu containing cute dish names and descriptive menu items. The food however is quite basic both in taste and presentation and unfortunately didn't live up to expectations (ie "percys thyme" was described as smashed avocado on multigrain bread with garlic and thyme mushrooms- it was a scoop of avocado on white breads with flavourless mushrooms). The matcha pancakes were great and coffee isn't bad. We weren't blown away by our visit however the hospitality is extremely friendly and accomodating.

Had lunch here catching up with friends and it was great! Cute, cosy cafe with not a huge variety on the menu, but great choices! I had the Pulled Pork burger and it was amazing! Fresh and yummy! Definitely a place to try for breakfast or lunch :)
Kat
Lovely cafe to go for lunch, lets you make a booking too which is a rarity these days! The place is larger than it looks - has a room and courtyard out the back as well as the front area. We sat out the back and enjoyed the pumpkin stack and matcha Nutella pancakes. Both were delicious as was the coffee. Menu is predominantly breakfasty with a large range of sweet and savory options - was hard to pick what we wanted as everything sounds delicious! This place caters well for dairy allergies with almond milk, soy and lactose free milk available.
Stelly
Such a nice and cosy cafe! Came here on a Friday morning, so it wasn't busy at all. We got the Mister Percy and the Pumpkin Stack, both of which were delicious! Also tried their coffee - got a latte and a long black. Very nice and strong! Overall a great experience.

Flying high. Whoever Percy is and for whatever reason he has his own plane, there should be more of it. A leisurely Sunday brunch is exactly what's on offer with delicious pastries, substantial mains and reasonable costs. My grain salad was tasty, filling and served with interest and enthusiasm. My friend's vegetarian brunch was equally good, service was lovely and it's surprisingly easy to get a car park on a Sunday morning. Point your propeller and prepare to land.
Bitsofbites
Went here for a late breaky and had the Nutella matcha hot cakes and eggs Benedict! The staff were so lovely and the cafe is such a cute set out! loved the beautiful presentation of both dishes and they tasted as good if not better than they looked 😍 will be back to try out more dishes as it was so damn hard to choose!!!
MsEG
I love this breakky place! Percy Thyme is the only thing I order every time I visit. Please don't ever take it away from the menu. 😁 Great coffee here too!
CZ
This cafe clearly does not deserve a high rating on zomato. It is by far one of the worse cafe I've been to. My partner and I ordered a pulled pork Benedict and mister percy. The pulled pork was dry, hollandaise sauce was spilt, and poached egg was hard boiled. As for my mister Percy, the smashed avo was tasteless, the rosti was burnt and tasteless, and the poached egg was hard boiled as well. We both ate a bite and left. I'm sorry, but the food has no soul in it. However, I have to say that the coffee was decent.
Kate
Was alright , some meals were very hit and miss. The thyme mushroom dish was quite nice how ever the smashed avocado part of the dish really lacked seasoning. On the other hand the avocado smash was described at avocado of piled on toast, how ever it was a tiny serving of under seasoned smashed avocado , about 10 pomegranate seeds and a few slices of raw red chilli. Was quite a disappointment for the price. The French toast was nice but very rich and sweet. It was good that the drinks were nice though.

My friend and I had the Bircher muesli and fresh juice. We both found that it was a little dry. It tasted really good though. The venue needs a little more love, pretty dated.

The cafe owner was very kind to invite me back after my less than stellar first visit, which I very much appreciated. Naturally I re-ordered the Matcha Hot Cakes.
CasualFoodie
Cute little cafe with very friendly staff.<br/>The mango smoothie & berry smoothie was refreshing & delicious.<br/>Unfortunately, the food didn't quite deliver for us.<br/>The smashed avo was on par with others we've had, but the fact it was served on hard dry bread, brought the standard way down.<br/>We also had the French toast, and to be perfectly honest, I commend my daughter for eating most of it. As she saved a quarter for me, I struggled to swallow the bread as this too was dry & hard. I left, what was left to me.<br/>The baked shuska was ok, but I've definitely had better. The slices of bread I got was fine, because it was toasted.

The food is great, but the service is even better! My wife and I have lived in the area for over 4 years and didn't know about this gem! We stopped by for lunch and we immediately faced a problem - the menu had too many good options. We eventually landed on the baked eggs and matcha pancakes. The baked eggs were spicy and more-ish. Sadly, they ran out of Nutella donuts (which sit next to the pancakes), but offered a substitution or a reduced price, but with an extra pancake. I've never said no to an extra pancake, so that's what I chose. They even put a bonus brownie on top of the pancake which was a nice thought. Very pleasant people, great food and we will definitely be back again!
Theknifeandforktalk
Really cute cafe in Kew! Delicious breakfast items and couldn't help but get a freshly squeezed juice. Waiter was very funny and nice! Ordered two eggs however and only received one but they were quick to fix the mistake when mentioned. Would love to go back again.
Melbrunchin
Nice little cafe with a great menu, their mister Percy dish was amazing and I'll definitely be back to try the rest!

Having been here over 5 times over the course of 2 years now, i can happily say I've never experienced a poor or sub-par brekky here. <br/><br/>The menu is exciting and has a great mix of savoury and sweet options. Having tried 4 different dishes, the portion sizes are good, the presentation excellent, and the flavours consistently tasty. As an added bonus, the coffee is good in an area of Melbourne where it's hard to find a really decent coffee<br/><br/>Finally the best part is the staff, even when rushed off their feet, they are attentive, thoughtful and hard working.
Nima Goharpey
Absolutely exceptional!! Such a cute and cosy cafe in the heart of Kew. Was seated near the fireplace which was on and added to a great atmosphere.<br/>The options on the menu was great too with so many creative options. Food was very affordable and great large portion of food too that we couldn't finish it but too nice to waste. It's basically a hidden secret but no wonder the cafe was full! Definitely worth popping into!
Hello. Imnikki
One look at the menu and we were having a minor panic attack. What should we order? Sweet or savoury? This sounds delish. Actually, I think that whets my appetite more. What should we do? We want everything!! After taking a deep breathe, we came to a compromise - order one savoury and one sweet to share between us two. The pulled pork benny arrived and omfg, pork cracklings! The soft fluffy sweet bun cut through the saltiness of the moist pulled pork and soaked up all the oozy egg yolk and hollandaise - my taste bud thanked me with every bite I took. Moving on to the matcha hotcakes sandwiched between a Nutella doughnut, if this wasn't overindulge then I don't know what is. It was an explosion of flavour - slight bitterness from the matcha, sweet chocolatey goodness from the Nutella and a touch of sourness and tanginess from the berries and apples. This dish went exceptionally well with our skinny latte. The strong bold flavours added another dimension to our culinary adventure. Thank you for such a beautiful meal, and the absolutely down to earth and charming service. Just a little reminder though - the tables need a bit more thorough wiping down, crumbs galore are only good if the crumbs were of my own.
The Girl With Blue Hair
This is definitely not one of those commercial eateries. It's a cozy little gem in the neighbourhood where food is cooked with love. We have been coming here for the last two years and it has always been amazing. Hubby and I went there for brunch today. We ordered the Pulled Pork Benedict and Mister Percy. Both were very delicious and I was very impressed with the apple cider Hollandaise sauce for the Pulled Pork Benedict. Didn't give a 5.0 as the consistency of coffee/chai vary depending on the Barista. The Chai I had last time was spot on but the one today was a bit weak.
Zoe Garkinis
Finally tried this place! The pulled pork benedict looked great, tasted average though - nothing special sadly. The sauce was tasteless and the eggs not runny enough. The matcha pancakes were tasty, good balance of sweet and tart.
Vivi Wulansari
Finally visited this place this weekend. The place looks small from the front but they have plenty of space at the back anda courtyard. We had the french toast and matcha hotcakes, both were delicious. Looking forward to visit again during summer time.

Cute little cafe with very friendly staff. Potato rosti wasn't quite what I was expecting though. I wanted to tell them that the avocado smash was SO cold it really confused the palette and took away from the dish. Would have been better at room temperature. Otherwise perfectly poached eggs and good coffee.
Eatwithhendri
Started with the cookies and cream scroll from the display cabinet, it was dry and hard almost like a stone. I could taste that it was just out from the fridge. Where's the freshness? Matcha hotcakes sandwiched by brioche doughnut sliders may sound whimsical but tasted mediocre and tiny in size. However its potato rosti was splendid and even better when paired with thyme mushrooms. Coffee is commendable
Frog
Maybe I shouldn't do breakfast because I just find it so uninspiring. I had the grilled asparagus with smoked salmon, goat curd, egg and avo. Asparagus was nicely grilled but the avo was so uninteresting. it wasSupposed to come with dukkah but I needed a magnifying glass to find it. It needed something else to really make this dish sing. The service was really lovely and the coffee art was awesome.
Gidget
Cute and cosy little place in Kew where the service was fast and friendly. Nice outdoor section too for sunny Melbourne days. We both had Mr Percy's - potato rosti with avo, bacon, poached egg, and spicy capsicum sauce and side of mushies. The presentation was perfect and it all tasted great, however the rosti was not cooked enough and I got bites of cold potato here and there and so did my husband, which spoiled it. <br/><br/>I did love the coffee and my husband thought the ice coffee was spot on. Overall I'd come back again and try other things on the menu. If it wasn't for the semi cold Rosti this place would push to a 4.5 or 5.
The Tastebud
I had driven past this Cafe about a zillion times and I had never visited. <br/>I thought that it was time for me to set my hoof in the door as I had seen some pretty amazing Instagram images of the dishes.<br/>I wasn't disappointed and now I am annoyed with myself not visiting this little treasure earlier.<br/>I had the vanilla soaked french toast with strawberries and 'masca-pony'. It was absolutely delicious.<br/>There were plenty of other dishes on our table that looked equally as tantalising. The potato rostis looks ammmmazzing.<br/><br/>I can't wait to return.<br/><br/>The staff were lovely. Parking out the front after 9am or in the big carpark behind Mercedes.
Spirited Stardust
Super friendly service & the food came out quickly.<br/>The building is a little old and musty.<br/>The porridge was vegan and delicious - loved it.<br/>Hubby enjoyed his pork Benedict as well.

Came here for brunch, and was very impressed with the beautifully detailed food presentation! Every dish was like an art piece, and we couldn't wait to dig in. However, service was lacking and the staff looked grumpy most of the time while serving us, and were impatient and inattentive. Maybe it's because the food presentation was so beautiful that we kinda expected the taste to be right on par with its aesthetic perfection... But none of the dishes were memorable. The poached eggs were beautifully done, but the rest of the dishes were bland, stale and were just far from our expectations.

It's been a year since my first visit to Percy's and I'm happy to say this time I left a lot happier than last time. Percy's Aeroplane cosy cafe with a warm environment and friendly staff. We were greeted and seated immediately, and though busy staff were quite attentive and always wore a smile. <br/><br/>Their coffee was alright, I think it's a personal thing though as I didn't quite like the taste of the blend. The milk was frothed nicely and there was a nice thick layer of smooth froth. <br/><br/>Their new menu consisted of a number of tasty sounding and very beautifully presented dishes. I ordered the matcha hotcakes which came with a donut, chocolate, berries and topped with pistachio, pomegranate and edible flowers. The hotcakes had a perfect fluffy texture, although I couldn't really taste any matcha. Overall the dish was quite sweet but that's to be expected, and this was well balanced by the fruit and nut toppings. My only suggestion would be to replace the chocolate with something runnier eg, Nutella, because there was chunks of dried, hard chocolate that I had to wedge off the plate. It would be good to have a chocolate spread to mix in with the rest of the dish. My friend ordered the pulled pork Benedict which she was happy with. Eggs were runny and flavors went well together. <br/><br/>Overall we were happy with Percy's, we would recommend and be back to try some of their other dishes!
OnePointFive
Loved their Pumpkin Stack dish! Very delicious and healthy. Made me really good eating it. Almost ordered their pretty looking Matcha Pancake but cancelled because I think it'll be too sweet for me. Matcha Latte using Zen Wonders powder was alright. I looked grainy but it wasn't. It's unsweetened so need to add sugar if you prefer sweet version. The guy who served me was very nice and friendly. Place feels homey and great for catching up with friends.
The Baroness Of Melbourne
With an all day menu of Simple, Classic and Comfort dishes Percy's Aeroplane Cafe in Kew has been keeping locals happy for over 5 years and I expect they will for many more to come.
Chloe
Ordered the Mister Percy, the potato rosti though it was full of nicely matched flavours, the amount of oil that was leaking from it was quite unpleasant. But overall, the environment was lovely and the staff were all so polite. Try not to sit outside in the courtyard though, as it is quite isolated and generally small
DAMMIT JANET I LOVE FOOD
A friend of mine suggested this place for a recent catchup and I was pleasantly surprised with our experience. The atmosphere was comfortable and although we were seated by ourselves all the way in the back room, the service was great as the wait staff continually checked up on us to refill our water and ask if we needed anything. What I also liked about this place was the staff’s interest on customer feedback. Apart from asking the usual question of whether or not we enjoyed our meals, we were asked about our thoughts on the Matcha Hotcakes, which were a new menu item (eg. Was the serving size adequate? Was the dish sweet enough?). Serving sizes in general could be improved, but I’d still return if I was in the area.
Kate Dougherty
Really enjoyed brunch at Percy's Aeroplane today. Love the range of menu offerings and the friendly service. We were also able to get a table immediately at a peak time on a Sunday which was a bonus. I ordered a turmeric latte and the fruit French toast with fruit, berries, pistachios, marscapone...

All the photos on social media drew me to this location. Cute little place with extra space out back. Coffee came out quickly and was nice and hot. <br/><br/>Had the Percy thyme. Eggs were cooked well, toast was well overdone - ridiculously hard to cut through. Mushrooms were full of flavour and definite highlight.<br/><br/>Mister Percy was delicious. Had an extra poached egg and the chipotle on the side (too spicy for my liking).<br/><br/>Matcha hot cakes were a definite fav for those that like a sweet treat. Great flavours that work really well together and interesting texture from the hot cakes themselves. <br/><br/>A must try.

Over price<br/>For a $9 focaccia, requested 2 extra fried eggs, it's $15! I can buy another bacon egg sandwich for $6.<br/>The staff even over charged me a coffee even I never ordered
KevC
It was okay... That was the feeling I had when I left. <br/><br/>I got really excited because they had a chia seed panacotta which sounded pretty good, but that had slipped the menu, and a green tea pancake, which piqued my interest.<br/><br/>Ended up sharing the pancakes with a friend and got the pulled pork benedict for myself... I don't know if it was just me,but I felt quite whelmed from my experience, maybe a little under. <br/><br/>The pulled pork benedict was okay, But I've had better. For my preferences, I wish the bread was smaller... much smaller, and that there was more apple. Calling it a medley would be a severe overstatement. Everything in its own right was okay. Just having decent pulled pork, with not enough apple to cut through its richness and enough bread to feed the birds outside with, didn't sit well with me.<br/><br/>Unfortunately the owner/chef mentioned it's a new item so they are tinkering with it, but I did not like what was offered. Could barely taste any green tea flavour, so it was essentially a green pancake and there was so much raspberry. Not my liking. There was chocolate... But it didn't work for me. Sorry, but I think it still needs work. <br/><br/>In the end 'It was okay'. I wouldn't purposely go back nor would I recommend it to others, but if someone really wanted to come to Percy's, I guess I could be convinced?? Probably not, but maybe...

Based on the plethora of food photos on social media and the cafe's interesting brunch menu, Percy's Aeroplane Cafe initially showed a lot of promise. Sadly, this cafe didn't meet expectation and had a lot of room for improvement. <br/><br/>Firstly, while the wait staff was very friendly, the service was very slow and required a bit of prompting. This wasn't as disappointing compared to the dismal consistency of the matcha latte. With lumpy matcha sediments at the bottom of the cup, this was possibly the worst matcha latte I've had.<br/><br/>As for our main dishes, I found the pumpkin stack very bland and underseasoned. There was nothing exciting about the dish and it certainly wasn't worth $20 for something one could easily throw together at home. The pulled pork benedict was slightly more enjoyable as there was a good combination of sweet and salty to the dish. However, it could use with more hollandaise and less bread as the Pain de Mie was overwhelmingly thick.<br/><br/>We were most excited for the matcha pancakes. While the dish was certainly eye candy, that's all there is to it. The two thick pancakes in between compressed brioche made the entire ordeal tasting very stodgy. The thick raspberry sauce was a good attempt to stray the dish away from being overly sweet, but the chocolate ganache, Nutella, and brioche glaze tipped it over the edge. There was also barely any matcha taste to it! Disappointing.<br/><br/>Unfortunately, Percy's Aeroplane Cafe was a brunch place I found underwhelming and I wasn't happy paying this much for mediocre food. Not planning to revisit anytime soon.

Very mixed feelings about this cafe. <br/>Upon entering staff were friendly and very accommodating. Had an earlyish lunch and ordered the pulled pork benedict. <br/>On the menu this dish sounds amazing but in reality it was missing quite alot of the elements described. Couldn't taste the apple cider hollandaise or any of the pumpkin, carrot or apple. The pulled pork was more lumps of fat and probably only had about two mouthfuls of edible pork. It also was topped with what was meant to be a pork crackle but that too was inedible. Hard as a rock! <br/>Now coffee was ok but it was very luke warm my biggest pet hate. Also no kids menu! <br/>This cafe has been appearing alot on my Insta page etc. and I'm not too sure if I'm just ordering the wrong menu items, but I don't know what the fuss is about. <br/><br/><br/>

One of my faviour places to go to for brunch on the weekends with friends specially now that their open on Sundays. Alot of variety in the menu, the cofee is good and the service is amazing.

Never a disappointment! Great variety of food - fresh produce combined with great flavour plus the best customer service. Highly recommend a visit!
Summertime
had coffe and brunch with my husband and son. The food was beautiful and very tasty. The staff was nice and we had great experience. We would definitely come back and have brunch sometimes.

Our breakfast was too pretty to eat! Loved the acai panacotta and granola presentation and it tasted just as good! My friend loved her bircher muesli and our coffees were great. Quick, friendly service so was surprised by the recent bad reviews.
Serious Food Couple
We had the pulled pork Benedict and were a little disappointed. Let's just say our meals weren't what we had seen pictured on Instagram. The pulled pork is a nice flavour, but the bread could have been toasted and the hollandaise was, well, runny? I am thinking maybe we came on an off day.
Morgueman
Blink and you miss this place as there's very little street frontage. The café is narrow yet very long setup which opens outside towards the back. <br/><br/>We dropped in for quick, small bite to eat. A cool eclectic decor greets you wish white distressed walls and pretty table settings. All very trendy.  <br/><br/>We were greeted by a waiter who was incredibly friendly and helpful. He took our order, a Pulled Pork Burger with Rosti and a tea. I was tempted to order the Buxton Trout but was advised they were out of it and the Scramelette. The burger came out pretty quickly but alas the tea never arrived. Soon after we arrived the 'regular' crowd started to arrive and the wait staff seemed a little too interested in talking to the regulars, which is probably how our tea got lost.<br/><br/>Onto the food. The burger itself was ok but nothing spectacular. Good brioche bun. The pulled pork had been cooked well but I think they re the meat on the flat grill which removed some of the moisture and created a few harder 'crusty/caramelised' spots. The apple slaw was the hero, very tasty. The rosti was interesting. I've never had a rectangular block of rosti before, nor one that was a grey/green colour. The outside was very crunchy, l grant that. The had been flavoured with herbs and maybe mushroom? I couldn't quite identify the herbs or why it was a greyish colour. I didn't mind the rosti but wife didn't like the herb flavour and would have preferred a traditional rosti.<br/><br/>I probably wouldn't come here at peak times as there just isn't enough space. It would be quite hectic I imagine as its such a small kitchen.   <br/><br/>The ambiance of the place was nice and the overall experience was fine but a little lacking from a place that's currently got a 3.9 rating.
Gabriel
Service was slow eventhough not busy. Simple menu, great foods. Incredible quality and presentation. Will surely come back again and try out other items on the menu.

Happy to find a lovely cafe in Kew. Nice food and friendly and warm service. Thank you for letting us have a great time there. I would go back sometime soon.
Sallehh89
A bit of a borderline second time experience at Percy's. Was not greeted upon entering but was left to stand awkwardly between the flurry of take away orders and staff. Finally I sat myself... Waited about 5 minutes for someone to notice me. Once my order of toast. Just toast. Was made. I was left for another 15 minutes. Finally I had to leave for an appointment and wanted to cancel the order which of course arrived at that moment. Staff apologised and generously said the entire meal was free; to come back next time for a good experience. I probably won't be coming back anytime soon?

Located in a busy intersection surrounded by offices and housing. Love their coffee and food especially my crispy bacons. Cleanliness and tidiness need to improve more 😴

Crap service and poor quality coffee. Wont be going back thats for sure. When going to a cafe staff should be welcomed with a smile and at least

Heard some great reviews about this cafe so decided to try it out for ourselves. It was a massive let down. The waiter forgot our order TWICE resulting to a 1 hour wait for our food. When it finally arrived it was a tiny serving with little to no flavor. On the up side the coffee was great!
World In A Bite
Good coffee and yummy breakfast - potato rosti could be more crunchy! 😅 lovely service & cute interior decors ✈️ .. Thank you for not kicking us out staying too long 😬
Josephine
First things first, you don't fling the menu into a customers hand with a disgust look on your face and secondly, you don't go and eat your lunch while we sit near you for 15 minutes waiting for someone to notice our table to take our order. I get that the staff have to take a break throughout the day but they could have called someone else to come take our order instead of making us wait for 15 minutes. Food was quite average to be honest. Matcha panna cotta was half a jar of sweet rubbery panna cotta - no matcha flavour at all. Steak sandwich for $19.90 was a rip! It was tiny and disappointing. Smoked trout was boring and the staffs attitude was just ridiculous.

Percy's is popular in Kew but I don't get it. The coffee is good, but often lukewarm. The service is terrible, downright shocking at times. Food is typical Melbourne cafe fare- Percy's could be decent especially given the lack of competition in Kew but the atrocious service makes it difficult to go back there for seconds, unless desperate

Was here on Friday. The pastries / sweets are very average, however I had an excellent V60 filter coffee (beans from market lane - Kenya) which was vibrant, juicy and very fruity. The temperature of the coffee was perfect, not too hot and drinkable immediately. Best filter coffee in eastern suburbs.

Had a great time with my nieces at Percy's. They were very accommodating and we sat on the bench at the window. The kids ordered fried eggs (sunny side up of course!) with toast and cinnamon "bronuts" (it's a cronut - I had to ask!). I ordered an acai bowl and it was so fresh and yum! Coffee was yum and service was great!
Confessions Of A Foodie
Upon first walking in, the staff seemed confused about the fact that we wanted a table. They just seemed to look at us, while we looked back expectedly. Finally we got the message through that we'd like a table. Service improved from then, but was average overall. <br/><br/>The cafe had several seating areas and where we were, there wasn't much of an atmosphere as there were only a couple of tables. I felt as though everyone could hear our conversation and that's something that I didn't enjoy. <br/><br/>The food itself was alright. Personally I was very happy with my matcha panacotta (daily special), but the steak sandwich had a very tough steak and the coffee was bubbly rather than microfoam (although that's being very picky-but I did enjoy the fruity notes).
Fondue12
Personality plus here (*note the sarcasm). There was not one friendly staff member to serve me on my recent visit, I am not even sure they know how to smile?! It took them over 10 minutes to come to our table and ask if we were ready to order. I would be more forgiving if it was during peak hour, but it was a Tuesday morning and there was only 2 other tables that had people on them. The coffee was average (in saying that GOOD melbourne cafes may have turned me into a coffee snob) and the breakfast itself was overpriced. $16.50 for 1 poached egg and one piece of toast with some fried mushrooms and a sprinkle of dukkah hardly seems right. Then to top it off we also got to hear the table next to us complain to their friend about how bad the service was and the bad attitude of the wait staff. I would definitely not recommend, don't waste your time and try somewhere decent in Kew.

Found this cafe near my work and it looked quite interesting. I love the name and look of it, and the layout is bigger than initially perceived when the back room is taken into account.<br/><br/>I had the Mister Percy for my meal, which was very good. It was different to your regular smashed avo and eggs, was very well presented, and well cooked. The dishes other people around me were getting also looked very intriguing and I would love to go back to try more.<br/><br/>The soy chai latte I had was also very well made, coming brewed in a small teapot, and not just made from powder. <br/><br/>The price was very reasonable and the service was great. <br/><br/>I would recommend trying Percy's Aeroplane Cafe for a lovely brunch and coffee!
Chewing Is Exercise
I had been to Percy’s Aeroplane 1.5 years ago and it was great. Really great actually.  I recently went back with a group of 15 people or so for a special occasion. And I was not the least bit impressed with the experience this time around.  Especially with the service.  Yes, we were in a big group, but honestly, that’s hardly an excuse.  Food was already pre-ordered prior to our attendance but it took 30 minutes to get menus for drinks.  No water for the table.  Wrong coffee orders.  Tea that never came because they ran out of teapots and failed to inform us (hot water straight into the mug would have sufficed). Inadequate number of utensils for the number of people.  Staff that seemed to generally not really care.
Innafatkid
Great coffee, and both meals were excellent. Eggs were perfectly poached and the bacon crispy. Smoked trout was full of flavour and the rosti is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Highly recommend. Service could have been a little friendlier

After our pleasant experience, we decided to visit Percy's Aeroplane again today. Unfortunately, it was a let down; I was served a dry pulled pork burger and my wife was given terribly burnt french fruit toast. The only saving grace was their coffee. Perhaps it was because they were slammed in the morning and the kitchen crew were just tired?<br/><br/>Will give them a try again....after 6 months.

Came in with a group of friends and even though we pre ordered the day before, they prioritised other customers before us. During our stay there was minimal service with the waitress only offering drinks after 20 mins.
Moo'ving Truck
Came here on New Year's Day where there was a $2.50 public holiday surcharge per person. Service was unfriendly, in particular the waitress who was serving us. She was quite rude and it felt like she didn't want to be there.<br/><br/>While I understand public holiday days can be busy, if a cafe is going to charge $2.50 per person, you would expect service to be on par as with any other normal day. Unfortunately we experienced sub-par service which did not merit the extra surcharge.<br/><br/>Can't comment on the food as we didn't get the chance to order. It seemed that small groups got preference to be served rather than larger groups (we were a group of 4 and were considered a large group). Even when we waved down the waiter who took the orders of the smaller tables around us (who, by the way, were seated a considerable time after us), we were told that he would get someone else to take our order. Even after 5 minutes, no one came to serve us. We were later informed that smaller groups get served first (maybe because they're quicker to serve?) which I think the cafe did for their convenience, without much consideration of their patrons.<br/><br/>I think this cafe needs to rethink their service policy because having an enjoyable meal isn't just about the food

Unfortunately I was pretty disappointed with Percy's. I have been once before over a year ago and it was nothing to write home about but thought I would try it again today. Menus were ripped and dirty and not many options, it took over 15 minutes for someone to take our order. The staff looked like they didn't want to be there and were not very friendly, except for the barista who greeted everyone who walked in. As for the food, I got the grilled asparagus which for $18.50 I expected more than a dollop of avo, 1 egg, 1 piece of toast and 4 pieces of asparagus. It was nothing special wither. With so many other great Cafes around with better value for money, friendlier staff and tastier food unfortunately I don't think I'll be back. Sorry guys.
Beachie111
Havnt been for a while <br/>The menu is tired and the actual menus are so dog eared poor impression i think<br/>Coffee quality def slipping <br/>Sorry guys

This is a review about (poor) customer relations and attitude. We went here New Year's day looking for takeaway coffee. A sign at the counter informed us that there would be a $2.50 surcharge per person. When I asked whether this even applied to coffee I was told by a very sarcastic waiter, yes. When we told him (politely) that we weren't interested he amped up the sarcasm to 11 and waved us goodbye. So, clearly no interest in "low value" customers. <br/><br/>Apart from the bad attitude I do understand that public holidays entail greater costs. However the $2.50 flat charge is a bit cynical since it seems to be saying only "big spenders" welcome ($13 for two small t/a coffees would be exorbitant). If they were honest about cost recovery why not a 20% surcharge?<br/><br/>I notice other reviewers commented on the Credit Card surcharge here. People running businesses need to understand it's not just about the bean counting but also about customer relations.

Staff were very friendly, setup was nice, menu was a bit small but there were appealing and interesting choices. I ended up getting the Percy Thyme which was very tasty, only downside was that there was only one small piece of toast, which wasn't enough for the generous amount of avo, mushroom, feta and all the rest.
Jojo
very nice brunch……good service and beautiful yard with flower smell, we order French toast and Percy mister, yummy and fresh food...looks very nice as well<br/>
Melissa Yeap
Loved the food choices they have here at Percy's Aeroplane. I ordered the smoked buxton trout and I really loved the herb potato rosti that came with it. Wished it was just more bigger in portion size as I still had room for more after I finished my meal. Also, my friend wanted the Matcha Panna Cotta but they usually don't serve/make it till later in the day as we were there at 9:30am. They kindly granted her request in the end. :)
WhenFoodMeetsFiona
Today I went to Percy's with a girlfriend for brunch. The staff there were very friendly with an instant greeting. I ordered the 'Matcha flavoured panacotta with chocolate cacao pikelets, orange curd & praline'. It was very very sweet (definitely a dessert for breakfast). The pikelets were fluffy and soft which is always good, and the cacao taste is not as strong which is a good win for me because I'm not a big fan of cacao (the taste was very subtle). Now for the panacotta, the matcha wasn't as strong as I had anticipated but it may be due to the strong orange curd taste on the same. Regardless, the dish was still good and would defiantly recommend. <br/>Note: the dish is not on the menu so ask the waiter directly for it (if they are still offering it as part of their menu)! It seems that their coffee is amazing as there were lines of people the second we walked in to the minute we finished our meal and lined up to pay.
Mimi
Loved everything about this place! The girls are friendly and attentive. Ordered the smoked buxton trout and the Mister Percy along with a latte. The food is the right portion and well displayed. I would definitely recommend coming here and would return!
ItsTrueFatKidsLoveFood
This cafe has become one of my local favourites. Food is always consistently delicious, with the Percy Thyme and Mr Percy both being my favourite dishes.<br/><br/>The courtyard at the back is great due to it being so quiet.<br/><br/>Definitely one of the best cafes in the area.
Marnie Bodin
Great smashed avocado and excellent coffee but there isn't too much seating inside so it can get busy on a rainy day. Great service but could be a bit faster
DaniB @eatmystreet.net
Gorgeous cafe in Kew. The perfect brunch spot. The French Toast with blueberries was beautiful. The decor was bright, simple and zen. Friendly, quick service. I definitely recommend you visit.
Bertram Daniel
Although I had heard about this place I did not know what to expect and boy was I impressed. It would have to be one of the best cafes I have been to. The coffee and the presentation, quality and taste of the food was exceptional and all this with service that was above par. I will be telling my friends about this one and I will be back.
Avolette
Amazing brunch venue! Friendly service with a smile, great coffees and a very clever menu that highlights the breakfast favorites but with a sophisticated touch (and beautiful presentation!).<br/>The smoked buxton trout breakfast dish was perfect in every way. Cannot wait to eat this again.
David Weng Yew Wong
coffee was above average ... much hyped Mr Percy was average ... service was friendly and efficient ... cosy cafe with 2 dining areas and one courtyard

was suggested percy's aeroplane for brunch by a friend and now its a favourite! extra points for great coffee, decent serving sizes and kind staff.

I had the Smoked Buxton Trout which has to be the most delicious breakfast Iv had since I moved to Melbourne 10 months ago, my boyfriend got the Wes Favourite which he loved also. We both agreed we will defiantly be coming back. Apart from the delicious food the staff are also incredibly nice and welcoming.
Julian B Ho
Melbourne does lots of amazing coffees. Fact. But not many places do food that is amazing as well. Percy hits the nail with both. The menu is simple but tantalizing. Flavor was multi-dimensional and the guilty pleasures were well balanced with salads and herbs. Nicely plated but yet unpretentious (not small amount of food on a very large plate). Well done guys 👍🏼
Thatsprincessnay
Super considerate staff who catered to our very specific dietary requirements; wondrously cozy on a cold winter morning and the porridge was almost too good to eat - ALMOST. ;)Got a takeaway coffee which was rich, punchy and well rounded! I'll be back! :)

Tucked around the corner of the Kew intersection, this is a wee hidden gem. Bustling kitchen and coffee bar produces a dark, smokey brew not for the faint hearted. Wes favourite was tasty and the spicy chipotle certainly added some punch. A clear local favourite and so it should

Renowned for its wide leafy streets, private colleges and bustling junction, there is a lot more to Kew than meets the eye. Dig a little deeper beneath the surface of the High Street and you’ll find a plethora of great quality restaurants, cafes and gourmet shops to discover. Here’s my foodie guide to Kew.
Edible Melbourne
Great food great service nice laid back environment. Top one in my list... Tried the smoked asparagus with the beetroot goats cheese moose, multigrain bread and poached eggs. What a winner!
Michfish
The coffee is horrible, too cold and watery, taste worse than instant coffee! The service is alright but the quality of coffee and food is not consistent and really not recommend for a to go coffee place.

Stopped in for a quick take away coffee. Great to see a cafe that is open Sunday's and serving delicious coffee that doesn't take too long!! Keep it up guys :)
Claire E
The honest truth, best coffee in Melbourne. Great staff and every single time, the coffee is fantastic. Go out of my way to get a coffee and salmon bagel for lunch. Happy staff and happy customers
David Vuong
Awesome coffee. The japanese guy makes a killer coffee. Eat the toasties, salmon bagel, caramel slice, peanut butter brownie. Mpst importantly the steak sandwich for lunch!

Just had lunch at Percy's, amazing coffee best I have had in a while. Had Wes's favorite....definitely agree!!

Consistently tasty. I've been here a few times and have never been disappointed! The coffee is always great and the food never fails to impress. I was pleased with the amount of vegetarian options on the menu, including the option to subtract the meat from certain dishes. I had the thyme mushrooms and they were so flavoursome and delicious. Definitely keeping this on my list of regulars.

Decent take away, BUT yo, it's 2015, time to drop the card surcharge, especially when it's paywaive, and especially when you only only notify the custome AFTER you've already put the transaction through.<br/>And if you barrista is down the street, maybe mention there'll be a wait as to not just leave your customers sitting there stareing blankly. Terrible service.

This time we went to Percy's Aeroplane in Kew, it's been on my to-go list in a while, and I'm glad I'm finally able to tick it off! Calmer Sutra Loose Leaf Chai Latte Pot | $4.50 I strayed away from my usual order of skinny flat white for the drink, and tried the chai latte instead. It looked quite promising when it first arrived on the table, with the whole shabam - teapot, cup, and a strainer. However, it had a quite weak chai flavour, and pretty much just tasted like warm milk with the tiniest hint of chai. Berry Whole Fruit Smoothie | $3.90 My friended order the smoothie, hoping that it would be homemade, unfortunately this wasn't the case, but it was still quite refreshing, she said.

And this hungry little piggy went all the way to… Percy’s Aeroplane . Went to this quaint little cafe hunting for a light lunch one afternoon. Percy’s Aeroplane I was tempted by the numerous wraps and focaccias  they had on display but I didn’t feel like anything bready… Bircher Muesli; soaked in organic apple juice, natural yoghurt, fresh berries, almond & mixed seeds with grated granny smith apples; $10.50 So I settled on the Bircher Muesli from their breakfast menu – it came out fairly quick! It was super fresh with just the right balance of sweet and sour from the apple and fresh berries. The museli had a lovely flavour from being soaked in the apple juice too. I felt all kinds of healthy after eating this haha. Yum!   Visit :  96 Denmark St Kew, 3101 Hours : Monday to Saturday; 7:00am-3:30pm, Sunday; 8:30am-3:30pm Tagged: bircher muesli , breakfast , healthy , lunch

Fancy something to read with your coffee? You’re in luck. At Percy’s Aeroplane a cup of joe comes complete with a short piece regaling the tale of Percy, his aeroplane and how the café crafts their bespoke blend. Mother’s long black was nice with rich notes and thick golden crema. There were three dried coffee drip stains on the cup, which could have been easily spotted and fixed with a quick swipe of a damp Chux. My café latte came with something extra: a chunk of old fried egg sitting in the spoon. I asked if I could please have a new spoon. Without any acknowledgement or an apology the beanied waitress snatched it from my hand, disappeared and returned with a clean spoon, which she unceremoniously dumped onto my saucer without a word. Her surly attitude and lack of basic manners left a bad taste in my mouth, which only became worse as I took a sip of my lukewarm and lacklustre latte.

The best way to describe Percy’s Aeroplane is to explain that it provides all the comforts of a home – a war smile when you walk through the door / the smell of freshly ground coffee / and simple but comforting food fare. All the while, the rooms are peppered with eccentric trinkets, reminding you of Percy’s Aeroplane’s quirky personality. Percy’s Aeroplane doesn’t mess around when it comes to coffee. Percy’s Aeroplane has their own roasted coffee blend as well as a single origin. The espresso machine has been described as both Ferrari & canary–yellow, but perhaps the best way to describe now it is Percy–yellow, as the colour is repeated throughout the café. I wonder if yellow was Percy’s favourite colour (a World War II pilot who also lives in Kew). I had a day off work (my first one in a while) so dad and I decided to grab some breakfast together nearby. We picked one of our favourite local spots, only a five minute walk from our house. LONG MACCHIATO – $3.50 | Nice menu graphics The food menu is split into ‘Breakfast Basics’ / ‘Brunch’ (both served all day) / and ‘Lunch’. It’s filled with unique twists on classic breakfast fare, including an impressive Smashed Avocado with Thyme Mushrooms called ‘Percy Thyme’ for breakfast and ‘Poached Free Range Chicken Vietnamese Salad’ for lunch. You can also find a selection of exquisite sandwiches in the display counter fridge – if you come on a weekday morning you’ll probably find a line of people in suits grabbing a sandwich for work.  Percy’s Aeroplane also brings it with the sweets. Every time we come here, my dad generally orders a piece of their carrot cake – he swears by it. WES’ FAVOURITE / CRISPY BACON / SMASHED AVOCADO / HERB POTATO ROSTI / WATERCRESS SALAD / POACHED EGG / PERCY’S SPICY CHIPOTLE – $18.90 I’ve been going on a bit of a granola bender, but today I decided to veer away from the safe option and order  Percy’s Aeroplane ‘s signature dish. And I’m glad I did. Every element – bacon / avo / potato rosti / e
The Food Society
The house-like dining space is peppered with paper posters and other trinkets, whilst a large yellow aeroplane hangs from the ceiling above as you enter the local fave. The small shop front gives way to a back area and lovely outdoor courtyard which seats larger groups (and is absolutely packed out on the Saturday morning that we visit).<br/>
Flho
The staff were very friendly and attentive, however the food did take a while to come out. Lots of praise for the coffee ($3.50 each), and the meals tasted very fresh with more than adequate portion sizes at decent prices. Full of flavour, however the bread and rosti were not the best. Loved the presentation.
Confessions Of A Little Piggy
The dish begins with a generous smear of creamy goats cheese curd followed by a slice of toasted multigrain dolloped with smash avocado. There were also thyme infused mushrooms – rich, luscious and full on flavour, a poached egg and a drizzle of balsamic reduction. Though there was nothing to fault about this dish specifically, I have to admit nothing particularly jumped out for me either. Oh, and what happen to the dukkah ? In the end, I don't know. Was it Percy or was it me ? It was me. Simply put, Melbourne has spoilt me and with so many choices out there, I crave for something with more edge, flair or whatnot. But that’s just what I think. Me, the brunch brat.

This cafe is an absolute local gem, and I’m so glad we finally managed to experience their great coffee, warm service and cosy atmosphere. PG and I are definitely going to be back, and we don’t say that often about new local cafes that we try. Worth coming out to try as well if you’re not in the area.

Menu: Percy’s Aeroplane is located in Kew, and is named after a World War II pilot who resides in Kew as well. It is owned by Wesley Lim and Michael Smith and is located in an old building– which has been further stripped back to bring out it’s best – complete with high ceilings and exposed brick walls. The main feature of the venue is definitely the model plane (Lim visited various antique stores to find this piece) that hangs over the front door – in its striking and vibrant yellow colour. To match is the custom-coated Ferrari-yellow Expobar Ruggero espresso machine. The feel of this café is fun, lively and cosy. There are two main dining areas – the front room as well as the back room which also leads to a courtyard area for larger groups. There are interesting trinkets and ornaments scattered around the place to further adding character. From the front dining you can look into the kitchen to watch as your dishes are being prepared. Coffee is from Retro Roast (based in Berwick), and

Our coffees ($3.50) tasted beautiful and the staff were very friendly. So... next time you are seeking a hearty breakfast and a decent coffee, fly down to Percy’s Aeroplane.

Whilst it does not reinvent the breakfast wheel, Percy’s is a nice neighbourhood addition to the growing café culture in the Hawthorn / Kew area. The menu is one-paged, but has the variety to suit any brunch-goer. All-day breakfast is served until 2pm, and the coffee sure packs enough of a punch to please any Melbournian.

You will immediately feel at home at this cosy cafe on Denmark Street. The service is attentive and the coffee from their yellow coffee machine is top class. No wonder it’s always busy with students, office workers and locals. I will definitely be back here to get my regular caffeine fix.

One word: delicious!! I ordered The Wes Favourite and would highly recommend! The chutney the avo smash was resting on was slightly spicy and gave the dish a kick. Definitely one of the tastiest brekkies I have had:)

Disappointed....we tried out because of the amazing reviews!. Well we ventured to Percy's for lunch having high expectations given the reviews. We sat out the back - didn't find it quaint as some reviewers have referred to it..the shelf adjoining the table where we sat was full of dust and the room could definitely do with a good paint. Anyway I'm not going to give negative reviews for that reason...just something owners might want to improve. Coffee orders taken early but took forever to come despite being 1.45pm and lunch crowd died down...coffees were okay and luke warm. Ordered the chicken poached vietnamese salad....not sure what was going on in the kitchen as it was obviously a popular dish but all I could taste was fish sauce and fish sauce and more fish sauce - no balance between the sweet, sour and spicy that you normally get from a great vietnamese salad....I almost ordered a dessert/cake afterwards to get rid of the fish sauce taste but thought heck no I'm not spending anymore money here just to get rid of fish sauce breadth....did go elsewhere for a coffee and cake though. Also the serves was rather small considering the price. Anyway overall disappointed...may be back to try breakfast but definitely not back for the salad....especially as it is not a hard dish to get right.

Great food and coffee. Great food and even better coffee in this cool cafe . Staff very friendly and has a very cosy atmosphere.

Reliable location. Reliable food and cafe, sometimes a bit slow though. good local

Food took a while to come but in the end it was excellent! cute cafe with a cute courtyard out the back - you must sit there when you go. Staff were very friendly and attentive, can't wait to go back!

Lives up to it's hype. The fruit french toast is beyond delicious. Partner enjoyed her steak sandwich too, Nice coffee and staff guarantee the return visit. Keep up the good work!

Just great. I hardly ever do the reviews but I just have to say that this cafe is great. The food, the service, the coffee etc all really great. I will definitely go there again.
Robert
Breakfast and coffee was fantastic, Marcus is a great bloke and and very talented chef! We ill be back there very soon
Nina
Great if you love listening to callcentre meetings. Don't go here during the week. Situated next to Vic Roads, the entire cafe was full of mini boardroom meetings amongst middle management and call centre staff. I had to hear the run down of a power point presentation whilst trying to enjoy a morning coffee on a rare day off with my family.. and they just kept swarming in. Very sad but they're probably the bread and butter for this place.
Nic Hutchinson
Had lunch. Beautiful flavoursome food! Also have lactose free milk for coffees. Yummmmmm
Kat B28
Good Food - but small portion sizes.. We decided to try Percys for the first time over the weekend. Whilst the food tasted very nice, My partner paid $18 for scrambled eggs, avocado and mushrooms, The eggs were extremely small in portion size (He was lucky to have 2 eggs in the scramble). The extras were also small. Quite disappointing when you are paying $4.50 for each side - you expect the size to be reasonable.
Mish
We waited over 45mins for breakfast today. When we got it, it was cold and burnt. We received at different times.?really poor and can't believe the reviews are so good!!
Kevin M
Open Sunday. This is a great little café that I am fortunate enough to live close to. The food there is consistently good and they have just started opening on Sunday. Sweet!. I need them on Sundays.

Great unassuming cafe in kew. Was served by two lovely blonde waitresses yesterday. My husband and I were very impressed with the friendly service. Food came out quickly and tasted delicious. I had the thyme infused mushrooms with poached eggs and my husband had the Bircher. Will be back soon with my daughter. Thanks

Great reviews so i wanted to give it a go... Bummer!! Terrible breakfast- mushrooms were so salty i couldnt get them down!! Poached egg rock hard. Trout was not a breakfast side! Coffee average. Muffin bland. Sorry guys- great service from barrista and waitress though!
Diane
Very disappointing. I purchased a coffee there today after reading the positive comments here. Sadly, the coffee did not even come close to being okay. Firstly I ordered a cappuccino and got a latte instead and then coffee was just very ordinary. The brew was not good and the milk was too hot. I won't be going back.

Decent breakfast

Terrible Service. Was really looking forward to trying percy's aeroplane and had high expectations from all the reviews. It took about 10 mins for someone to FINALLY come over and take our coffee and food order but only because I had to try and signal them to let them know. They ignored my first to attempts of me getting their attention and didn't even acknowledge us. this set the mood for the rest of the brunch, that should have been a warning sign right from the start. The coffee came out about 2mins before our food did so by the time we could finish our coffees they were cold!! The food was very tasty but could have had more avocado on the mushroom dish. Our second coffees we orders took about 10mins. This is ridiculous and would not bother going back to this place. The waiters were practically mute and at one point i thought that they may not even speak english. Shame as this place has a lot of potential. Shame about the staff!!
LiraM
Yum.. Didn't expect much (i've been living in kew my entire life and had never heard of this cafe), but it was lovely! Staff are super friendly, food was delicious!

Go in every now and then to grab a couple of coffees and they havnt failed it once. Double espresso is never wrong and my strong flatty is perfect ratio of milk and coffee. Keep up the good work peeps

Had Wes' Favourite and found it to be quite a unique and tasty breakfast variation as compared to the usual eggs benedict/big brekky. Really liked my breakfast and the staff were great!
Monica
Friendly service & tasty food. Being a local, I regularly go to this place. The coffee is one of the best coffees in Melbourne!!! Ive only had the mushroom and avocado on toast there, but each time this dish has been consistently tasty :)
Brickparty
Not a fan. Maybe I just had high expectations as everyone tells me how good this place is, I was not impressed by the food nor the service. I don't think I will be going back any time soon.

Popped in for a quick lunch. Coffee was good but not fantastic. Had the lunch special, smoked beans with chorizo and a poached egg, very very nice with great presentation. My colleague had the pumpkin soup, no complaints from him either. Will be back.

Great service by all staff members despite being really busy. Thyme infused mushrooms were really yummy!!

Amazing food, outstanding service..Nuff said.

Lovely. What can u say... Avacado on toast was excellent.. Coffee lovely and smooth..

Come here all the time for the great food especially the Bircher muesli. Staff are really nice and me and my boyfriend always enjoy coming here. Recommend this place to everyone!

Very good food. The mushroom/ goats cheese dish was amazing. This place also has nice Columbian coffee.
Little.miss
Great brunch today, loved the thyme mushrooms and smashed avocado dish that previous bloggers raved about. The smoked salmon dish was also good but a little salty. Would def get the smashed avocado again!! Generous portions of mushroom and beautifully presented. Even better than porgie and mr jones version and that used to be my all time favourite. Will be back!
Absofrigginglutely
Love this place, awesome BLAT, great service, good coffee...but PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE open on Sunday! That is my only issue! We need Sunday coffees.
Grace
Totally delicious the combination of the berries, mascarpone and honey on top of the french toast wonderful.
Hungry Biddy
Trout dish with poached egg, potato rosti and dill mayo was so delicious. Huge pile of trout but unfortunately just one poached egg however was very filling. Potato rosti could have been a little bit more crisp and caramalised on the outside though. Friend had pilots breakfast which was great apparently. Great service too - was waiters first day but was still very capable and confident. Only downside is that most dishes are around $18 which is fairly expensive however they were very tasty and were large enough servings, but still, that's a bit much for some.

Not sure yet.. Tried the coffee today... Not bad... Ok! Not mind blowing tho... Seems to be a Kew Favorite... But going by previous reviews... Food is well below par. Back on the weekend to try out breakfast! <br/>Get back to yaa... :)

Service was good. Food was so so, ordered something like a potato rosti it was really bland and the serving was small. The flavours of the balsamic vinegar mushroom dish were way too strong, it was too heavy. However the French toast was absolutely smashing, it's definitely one of the best I've had!! Coming back for the French toast but not for the other dishes

Percy's is one of melbourne's great spots. Excellent coffee and food and great service. After moving to perth you really appreciate how awesome places like this are.

Service was good, coffee was great, nice place with a good atmosphere. I has the Wes's favourite and my partner had the steak sandwich and we both enjoyed our meals but didn't think they were fantastic. Nothing wrong with them but we weren't wowed and thought they lacked something.

Nice coffee, nice staff ... ordinary food!. I really want to like this place. The staff are nice and so is the coffee (but strong) but the food is very disappointing! <br/><br/>I met a friend here for Saturday lunch and was surprised that it was so empty given the great reviews. I ordered a coffee while waiting for my friend. The waitress forgot so when I asked again 15 mins later it was delivered with a smile and I was told it was on the house. Thought that was nice. <br/><br/>I was suprised by the lack of lunch options. For vegetarians there is one savoury option on the main breaky menu and it includes an egg. There is bruschetta as a lunch option. We both opted for the Tomato and Basil soup and was a tad suprised to see that the crusty bread came out buttered. I never put butter on my bread and would have preferred for it to be served on the side. We couldn't believe how salty the soup was - not sure if anyone in the kitchen tasted it but it was like salt water. After the super salty soup I desperately needed something sweet so I ordered a muffin with my coffee. It was only OK. Nothing memorable. <br/><br/>My advice. Come here for a nice coffee and smiley staff. Eat elsewhere!

Overhyped. Obviously people in kew have not branched out very far to discover all of the great breakfast places melbourne has to offer. Firstly the coffee was ok, it was a strong and bitter blend offering very little else. My friend and i both ordered the thyme infused mushroom dish with smashed avocado and goats cheese. It looked very exciting on paper but the execution was terrible. Basically the dish was drowning in a very sweet and overpowering balsamic glaze which was essentially the only thing you could taste from the dish. Even though the menu stated it came with a lime dressing and mentioned nothing about a balsamic reduction. Upon seeing that my friend and i hardly touched the dish the waitress failed to ask us what was wrong with the dish or if we wanted to change it for something else. Disappointing service and disappointing food, won't be making the trip to kew any time soon, if you do go there avoid the thyme infused mushroom dish<br/><br/>My Rating: 5/10

Lucky find. We found ourselves doing the usual Saturday morning ritual - children's sport. Hanging for a coffee - didn't know where to go so walked towards Jew junction and stumbled across Percy's.decor was very inviting- friendly staff greeted us and our coffee and muffin were ordered without fuss. Didn't have time for the scrumptious looking breakfast but will definitely be going back, have to encourage the son the take up a longer sport! The muffin was absolutely Devine, and coffee was perfect.

Great find in Kew!. Love this place. Fantastic coffee.<br/><br/>And the bircher muesli is great value!

Percy's is the best, the steak sandwich is super awesome and so is the pilot's breakfast! All the staff are friendly too.

Brunch. Love this local cafe. Yummy food, great coffee and friendly staff. However did on a Saturday morning wait 50min for our food :(

Went for lunch on a weekday, kitchen closed at 2pm and unfortunately just missed out. Had salads and a vege wrap and toasted ham cheese croissant from the counter with coffees. Really really good. Worth a visit. Coffee was delish. The owner is really friendly, kudos to him. Price was reasonable. Staff really friendly. Thumbs up.

Great food, beautiful presentation. Coffee was perfect and came quick, but we were waiting for our food for almost 40 minutes which was a bit of a disappointment

Had brunch here for my mums birthday. Food was fantastic and staff were amazing. I had booked and told them about the special occassion and they had organised a delicious muffin and candle for mum. Its these little touches that make a venue stand out. It was our first visit but we will definitely be back. Thanks guys for a lovely experience!

Not the typical breakfast joint. They do breakkie differently and they do it very well indeed! The smoked trout was flakey and provided a nice smokiness tht complimented the rich yolk of the perfectly poached egg, silky spinach and herbed potato rosti. The mushroom dish was very flavoursome, the sticky balsamic reduction suited it well. CANNOT RECCOMMEND THIS PLACE MORE. The food and the staff were Absolutely lovely.

They need a AC!. So after reading all the great reviews for Percys, I decided to go there with a friend for lunch today. Okay so it's not their fault that it was 36 degrees in Melbourne today, but seriously, get a air-con! I stepped inside hoping to escape the humid heat, however to my disappointing and frustrating surprise, it was even hotter inside! <br/>So we sat out the back and ordered the food, which was good, however it didn't stand out much. <br/>I'd probably rather have gone to snow pony that day since its close to home and has AC! <br/>The staff were definitely super sweet and friendly, however being in the heat having warm food whilst trying to contain the sweat didn't help the experience. <br/>Overall the food was good, definitely room for improvement though!
Getaround
We had the BLAT and multigrain toast with thyme infused mushroom, ava and goats cheese which was very tasty. We were very impressed although the number of people mulling at the door for coffee can mean a long wait for food. Regardless we had a tasty breakfast here. I didn't like the balsamic glaze with the thyme buttered mushies as I prefer to keep the flavours fresh but I still ate the lot!

Friendly staff I've been.... Friendly staff<br/>I've been here a few times, mostly for a coffee, which is strong but great! Each time the staff have been different but all lovely. Especially if you have young ones with you. They are very understanding and attentive. Keep up the good work!

Amazing brunch today at percy's! has Wes' Favourite and Dudes Food which was fantastic. the potato tots with the burger was a stand out, with the homemade patty also brilliant. <br/>great decor and great coffee!<br/>if only it wasn't so far from Glen Waverley!

Friendly local cafe. Lunch today with a friend - delicious soup of the day (spicy pumpkin and lentil) served piping hot. Lovely young staff provided good, friendly service. Great spot and I'm keen to return for breakfast one day soon, as the menu looks interesting. They deserve to do well!

Awesome brekky's and Tasty Chai's. We visited Percy's after getting turned away from Cru Cafe. It was really cool, a small space with the kitchen in the main dining area which was different. Decor is rustic and works really well. Staff were great, helpful with intolerances and served up an incredible brekky. Chai soy latte was the best we've had too. A little pricey though. But overall it's a winner!

Favourite brunch place in Hawthorn/Kew area. Friendly service, great coffee and great food.. Some how it doesn't feel like it has the hustle and bustle of other places in the area.
Monkey In A Fruit Tree
A favourite spot close to work, I decided to take some colleagues for a working lunch today. We all opted for the trout on potato rosti with dill and spinach. Delish! Coffees always deliver the goods and service is with a smile. Friendly, yum & nice variety on menu or pre-made.

This place has the best coffee in Kew without question... And is definitely worth the short walk from the main junction strip. Super-friendly staff are an added bonus. I can't wait to return and try the food!

Great strong coffee. Attentive and friendly staff. Food arrives very quickly and was excellent quality and value. Spanish baked eggs were the standout. Smoked trout rosti also very good. Looking forward to coming back again to try the BLAT and the big breakfast.

Definite winner. The "Thyme infused mushrooms on toast, smashed avocado, lime dressing, dukkah, creamy goats cheese & a poached egg" is well-presented. The light drizzling of balsamic vinegar adds balance to the creamy goats cheese. The bread is wholesome. Mushrooms are plump and juicy. Cannot flaw this dish. Worth your while to come here.
BlueberryHill
Brunch Yum. Brunched here for the first time recently. Friendly service. Relaxed venue. Good coffee. And I'm still dreaming about the smashed avocado with thyme infused mushrooms. Simple but a bit different from the usual brunch menu. We'll be back.

Excellent. Very tasty food with excellent presentation. I will be back.

Thanks Percy!. The most satisfying breakfast I have had in a long time!!

#1 coffee. Bold tasting coffee made perfectly every time.<br/>Love the coffee here not only because its well made, but its an unique blend of coffee bean. So many cafe use 5sense, seven seeds etc in Kew, I am glad Percy's provide locals with a different choice. <br/><br/>The menu is refined and always hits the spot. <br/>Percys is permanently on my weekend brunch list.

Good coffee. It was the quiet end of the day when I came here to get a take-away latte so I was a bit worried about quality as there were a few staff just chatting among themselves and I saw a glass display counter with plastic wrapped wraps or foccacias - couldn't quite work out the deal - how fresh would the produce be? How good would the coffee be? I opted just for the coffee - to my pleasant surprise the coffee was great.. and the barista was friendly. Next time I'm back I'll try some food too!

Surprisingly good. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. The shop front is off putting, and doesn't do it justice. The whole experience was really good. This is a cafe that is busy for good reason. I recommend it without reservation.

Breakfast for 2. Great selection of food! Goats cheese mushrooms with smashed avocado and a poached egg was amazing! The corn fritters were served with popcorn, how cute. Coffee however was below par. Could be a bad batch, latte became bubbly after 2minutes. TIP no bookings are taken on weekend and park in the side streets. <br/>Overall: Service 8, Price 8.5, Food 9

Had the thyme, goats cheese and mushroom breakfast dish- YUM! Decent service, good coffee. I will be back :)

Very pleasantly relieved. I have quite high standards when it comes to brunch venues and whilst I've been desperate for good places to frequent in Kew, that wasn't going to lower my standards at all.<br/><br/>Fortunately for me, and everyone else in the area, my standards didn't need lowering for Percy's Aeroplane. Coffees were perfect [even the soy one - which contained bonsoy] and each meal was lovely.<br/><br/>The pricing is standard for brunch and the staff were attentive and friendly. <br/><br/> The only criticism I have is that it was very loud inside their main room. This is pretty common for popular breakfast venues, but Percy's is slightly worse than average noisy bustle. I highly recommend they put up some noise absorptive materials on the walls as this can affect the enjoyment of a lazy weekend brunch.<br/><br/>All up, excellent place that I am likely to frequent often.

Good coffee, tasty breakfast. Nice strong rich coffee, had the very tasty Rancheros breakfast, friendly service and kid friendly. Will go again.

Always welcomed with a smile. The Aeroplane has soul, I could be lazy and buy my coffee in the faceless generic cafe of my office building but im always glad ive gone the extra little distance to visit this place. Keep up the good work, dont ever change ( unless its to get even better ;) )

Top Shelf Coffee. Finally a hot, strong coffee in Kew. Great coffee, decadent chocolate & pecan muffin, friendly service and guys who know how to make coffee. Food in the cabinet looked appealing, I'll be back!!!!
JY
Brilliant. These guys serve arguably one of the best tasting coffees in Melbourne. Whether it's a casual atmosphere in the courtyard or a more formal chat in their meeting rooms, I have no hesitation holding a coffee catch up there with friends or a business meeting with associates. Business owner Wes and the team deserve every success.

Awesome Coffee in Kew!. Fantastic coffee in Kew - hard to believe but it's true. Killer coffee machine and people that know what they are doing. Really lovely after taste and good variety of coffee beans.

Pleasant spot for a lunch/coffee. The well rested lamb was just right, and the quiche was great too. Friendly staff topped off an enjoyable experience.

...as a whole we had a great time at Percy’s Aeroplane and was glad that they have now started to open on Saturdays as well, if not we wouldn’t have been able to visit if they only opened Monday to Friday.<br/><br/>Definitely recommend anyone in the area to go and visit for the corn fritters or if you manage to scoop up a nice brunch coupon like us ~ because it really was a great deal :D

Percy’s breakfast menu stays true to the K.I.S.S rule: Keep It Simple, Stupid. Food is presented beautifully and uses seasonal ingredients. If they still do it, the Pilot’s Breakfast is enormous as promised, with fried eggs, bacon, chorizo, mushrooms, spinach and grilled tomato. <br/>

There's nothing 'up in the air' about four-month-old Percy's Aeroplane, except perhaps the bright yellow model aeroplane suspended above the front door. This fresh, new café arguably does the best coffee in Kew and backs it up with a cosy atmosphere. A stone's throw away from Kew Junction, we visited for breakfast in the middle of the week. It was just us seated in the front room, a lady on a stool at the bench table looking out to the street, and a couple of groups of professionals having business meetings in the back room. When you walk into Percy's Aeroplane the first thing you see is the canary yellow Ruggero coffee machine, which churns out the café's own roasted blend and single origin varieties. The display cabinet behind the machine reveals an array of baguettes, filled flat breads, salads and sweet treats-perfect for the herd of workers who come for take-away lunch and

Heuvos Rancheros is a beautiful dish with a hearty serve of baked chorizo, white beans stewed with cheese, baked egg and crusty bread. Stunning!<br/>But they are nothing compared to my Smoked Buxton trout piled onto a crispy potato rosti with spinach, a perfectly poached egg and dill dressing.

Quiet and unassuming to look at from the outside, this little cafe surprised us with a very decent coffee and some good old fashioned friendly service. The owners are obviously very serious about their coffee. They roast their own beans and offer single origins as well as their house blend. I love love loved the yellow coffee machine and the splash of color it brought to the quiet minimalist decor. We visited late last year and the waitress told me that they had just recently opened on the premises of a previous cafe. I love that the coffee machine matched the aeroplane! Cute touch! The coffee is pretty good too. My mocha (

for a long brunch graze. Whether it be the crunch-ilicious with pop-corn, or the big-pilot-breakfast with the lot, baked chorizo and poached eggs – all were delightful and filling

Excellent, excellent coffee in Kew and possibly the best Chai latte in Melbourne.
MEL: HOT OR NOT
I know that Percy’s Aeroplane is a local favourite for many Kew residents and that’s why I made the effort to visit it. The affection for the small cafe is also evident by the steady stream of customers who greet the owner Wes by name as they order their takeaway coffees. Like its name, Percy’s Aeroplane  is undeniably cute, a converted shopfront filled with vintage ephemera that could be the inside of someone’s house. The cafe consists of a bright front room sporting a canary yellow coffee machine, a cosy back room and a small shaded courtyard at the back. But the reason I’ve decided to veer on the side of NOT for this review is due to an ok but generally unexciting experience I had there and what I consider to be value for money. Maybe I would have leaned more on the HOT side if I’d been transported by what I hear is their amazing coffee – but as I don’t drink coffee so you’ll just have to make up your own minds about that. The short food menu has all day breakfast options and some p
