Review Aachi's - Kew

Ratnesh Kumar Yadav
One of the best Indian cuisine in Kew and Kew east. All the dishes over here is very delicious, especially chicken kadhai and goat curry is my favourite one. All the staff members over here are very friendly.

Finally found a place where me and my family enjoyed having Authentic North Indian Punjabi taste that we used to miss, after coming Australia. Special thanks to the manager there Mr Happy, his humbleness and hospitality was cheering and delighted. 100% recommendable☺️

One of the best restaurant near to my area. All dishes are very delicious especially Dal Makhni & Kadai Paneer. All staff members are friendly in nature. I highly recommend everyone to visit once with your family.

Delicious food, genuine and caring service. Dine in for a very enjoyable meal. Generous portions, we always have something left over for the next day.

Great food and hospitality. one of the best Indian restaurants around Melbourne. Highly recommended👍👍
Le petit Prince
The food was stale, tasted bland and appeared not to be fresh. There is also a weird smell in the place. I think the management has changed?

Amazing Indian food! Enjoyed every dish Highly recommend this place!

Gosh. The man here was such a delicate man. He was so kind. The way he treated my friend and I was a 10/10. I would definitely come back for not only the delicious potato palak, but also his gentle service.

3.5/5

Had quite a nice Indian dinner here the other night. For entrees we ordered some type of oven baked cheese and some fried vegetable pastry thing- the cheese had a tofu like consistency and it was pretty interesting to try.

For mains we got the beef and butter chicken. The butter chicken sauce was really nice especially with the naan and roti however they are quite expensive for the small servings. 19.9 for one bowl. Nonetheless still very enjoyable
Heavenly! My family and I live around the corner so enjoy the incredible food on offer from Aachi's on a regular basis. The flavour and quality of food never ceases! Every time I eat at Aachi's I am astounded again at how incredible their food is. If you are vegetarian or vegan Aachi's is a MUST (my family are meat-eaters, so anyone suits!). I regularly order the "Sauteed Pumpkin" (insanely delicious), "Bhendi Masala", "Eggplant, Tomato & Capsicum" and Samosa, with some rice and Naan (the Naan is ALWAYS perfect). Could not recommend this place more :)

This place was nice, but underwhelming considering the raving reviews. The service was great and the premises were very clean. The food was delicious but really overpriced - particularly the samosas. The bread was fantastic. Thank you for a pleasant evening.

Coming from Indian heritage, my family can be pretty picky with Indian food. My sister and I come here for take away all the time, and we have brought the whole family to dine in here too. It got the tick of approval from everyone! The food is always delicious, I personally love the paneer butter masala and the chicken tikka masala. If you’re looking for great Indian food around the area, I definitely recommend aachis!

Brilliant Indian. We know the owners and they are incredibly hard working, nice and deliver the goods. All of my favourites are: butter chicken, palak paneer (spinach cheese), lamb roganjosh, garlic naan and dhal.

I enjoy the vegetarian thali lunch special. It has a good mix of flavours (could perhaps do with a little more spice) and the highlight is the fresh, fluffy naan bread.

Very traditional indian food with great customer service! Cozy / small restaurant and food served fairly quick! takeaways are also efficient and reasonable.

My wife chose this place to celebrate my birthday. This restaurant serves good South Indian cuisines. Majority in my family are vegetarians, and a fair price of advice, vegetarian options are pretty limited but good. On the other hand though, it is a heaven for non vegetarians, with an array of crackling hot dishes served in lamb and chicken.

A great atmosphere and friendly staff. Highly recommended for non vegetarian South Indian food!

Staying nearby on a trip with friends we decided to take a walk and go to the nearby Indian restaurant for dinner and found Aachi's through Google. To start with, the staff was very friendly and professional at the same time , atmosphere was relaxing and the food was insanely good. Excellent quality food and excellent serving sizes too. Would definitely go again when we visit Melbourne !

The food was lovely here. We ordered the lamb korma, chicken and spinach, garlic naan and vegetable biryani. All the food was very tasty and authentic, not too sweet. Will be back.

The food is so spectacular beyond words. Not the prettiest of locations and only rear parking, but it's about the food right? The daycor is OK and they actually play authentic Indian music, gives it a great feel. Aachi's comes to the table to ask if everything is to your liking.
We had Samosa was so crisp and full of flavour inside, fresh and the chicken tikka was juicy and soft with nice char from the tandoor and a black hole from the skewer. The Curry's were delightful, we had the same old butter chicken, like no other seriously, the beef and egg plant Curry's were so pleasant and the Nahn bread fluffy and bubbly, I'd prefer it not cut.
I like this place because it makes real chair massala and I love the fact that Aachi wears a Chef outfit.
It's a great place for real authentic Indian food, no onion powder just real spices.

By far the best indian restaurant in the area. We eat here regularly. The food is consistently high quality and the service excellent. We mostly stick to the regular menu but specials are also available.
Freddo
very good great prices great food and the owners are really nice the butter chicken is great and palak paneer is a delicious vegetarian option.

The food was fine. Waited over an hour for some curries and kormas. Service extremely slow. No signs that you cant pay seperately, ie one printed bill but separate payment. Man serving us was extremely rude and told us it is a fine dining restaurant so its a given for no split bills. Its not a fine dining restaurant. What a joke. Its a small cosy place with a door that opens into an alleyway (which was constantly left open by people coming for take outs). Not fine dining at all and they could have handled the situation better. So many great places to eat in Melbourne not worth it to return here.

Great food, good ambiance. Excellent Hospitality by the Waiters. Bunch of Girls (Customers) came and gave the Waiter a hard time. He was so kind and nice to them. Good Job!

The waiter remembered me from a year ago. Minus it was my twin sister picking up some takeaway. Close enough!

I'm not much of a spicy food sort of person but when I feel like butter chicken, this is where we go because it's great. They also do a sautéed pumpkin dish which is pretty tasty, but it can occasionally be a tad sweet for a savory dish. That's all we've ever had off the menu and that's what we got again.

The staff are friendly, however the restaurant could do with a makeover. From the road it can look a little dingy.

Ordered take away the other night , the meat was tender In both the butter chicken and lamb roganjosh . I personally would love a little more authentic flavour in the butter chicken and for it to be less sweet , the other I liked the flavour but a bit too "western -ised" I would have liked a little more heat (perhaps I will try the vindaloo , it wasn't overly salty though which was nice ) . Garlic nann was a good size not very garlic flavoured though .

It's hard to find really great Indian in Kew !

Overall food was pleasant however it needs to have more MEAT most of it was sauce :(
Disappointing when the price is quite steep .

Price : $32 for two main and one garlic nann (no rice )
Would I try it again ? yes I would eat in the restaurant and hopefully experience more authentic Indian next time .

Had some takeout from Aachi's last night as we were in a very lazy mood. Butter chicken was fantastic, only negative was the sauce was a bit sweet. The chicken pieces were super tender! Lamb vindaloo was spicy & aromatic and the lamb meat, again, super tender! Breads were good especially the ones using wholemeal flour. Solid takeaway.

Been going there for a while now and Its has never missed!
The food is high quality, taste is great and the restaurant is very clean and tidy.
Friendly staff make you feel welcome even for takeaway or If I bring my two kids down to dine they always make you feel welcome!

I lived in India for 10 years and am the daughter of a chef, so I am known for nitpicking when it comes to the quality of Indian food. Aachi's, however, had me speechless.

The menu is simple, but they do what they do VERY well. When I lived in Kew, it was my go-to venue for whenever I got homesick. The South Indian specials on the Sunday lunch buffet deserve a shout-out. The customer service is attentive and the ambience is simple. A dining affair to remember!

I have been here a few times with my family and we think it's the best Indian restaurant around. The service is very friendly and the curries have great depth of flavour. I reccoment the fish tika masalla

really nice food - tried vegetarian selection twice now; fresh tasting, not oily and each dish had distinct spicing... also friendly and obliging service. Highly recommended, especially compared to other local indian restaurants many of which are awful.

Best indian restaurant i have been to.
My friend recommend this place so i and my hubby went there for week day dinner. It was very quiet so worried for a moment but it was hidden gem! The service was good and attentive and recommeded dishes were all delicious but if you expect to pay less than $15, cheap buttered chicken you get in a food court please dont go there. Its quality indian restaurant so end up ,our couple paid $100 for a glass of wine and mains. Im willing to pay for a quality tasty food so ill go back there with my friend again.

Good kulfi and mango lassi. The naans with potatoes were excellent too - can't remember what they are called - aloo something.

When I was around 12 years old, my mother and I got into a massive fight in the middle of an Indian supermarket. Halfway through the argument, I started sniffing and scratching my face, and complaining that I wasn't feeling very well. She (of course, because I was being a dick and would reduce to cheap tactics) thought I was complaining to win the fight, and refused to pay attention to me. She eventually turned around and, with a look of horror, caught sight of my face - it had blow up to twice the size. I was having an allergic reaction to all the smells and spices wafting around the shop. Thankfully, I have grown out of this allergy as I've gotten older. The fact that there was a chance that I could never eat in an Indian restaurant haunts me every day of my life. At the beginning of the night, you get complementary perfectly cooked popadom's with a side of two sauces. None of us really know what the sauces are, but they're delicious. Being a university student, my main experiences

Pretty good. Would go there again. They make a huge effort with their service. Coffee was as good as you'd get from a cafe. Reasonable prices. Quick service. Lamb rogan josh was slightly fattier than I prefer personally, but pretty good.

Love this restaurant. Everytime we go to Aachi's we always have the best meal - The food is delicious and the service is excellent. Love the relaxed environment - Recommend to anyone who wants to eat and try good quality indian food.

Well worth a visit!!!. Ordered lunch for a get together for around 10 people, excellent taste , like a home-made food. This place is a perfect choice for people who are looking for South Indian food. Everything we had was so authentic, fresh, and delicious, will definitely be going back.
Lovemyfood
While not the worst curry I've had in Melbourne, I'm gobsmacked that this place has received so many good reviews. Authentic?!! How? The flavours between curries were so similar, I can only assume they use the same base sauce in all their dishes and then just add a few different items to supposedly make them an "authentic" flavour. The lamb in our korma was fatty and chewy. Our Dahl was more sauce than lentils and our Kashmiri naan was pedestrian. We usually go to Kamlas curry cafe in Hawthorn, but thought we'd try this because of the excellent reviews. Never again. If you want fresh, varied, well-cooked flavoursome curries using quality ingredients, go to Kamlas - seriously, this is rubbish in comparison.

Beautiful local Indian food. Our fave is the Kashmiri Pulao with Lamb Sukka Varuval, a must try if you love your spice!

They do delivery! We all thoroughly enjoyed our lazy night in with our Aachi curries, hair & makeup not done and watching movies. Absolutely delicious, still hot and delivered for only a $5 fee.

Pretty good although coming from Northcote area nothing beats Singh's or kaki de hut! 8/10 from me

Yummy Indian. The first week I tried this place I went back two more times it was so yummy. The staples (vindaloo, samosas etc) are as good any I've ever had and their tandoori chicken is tender and spiced just right.

Authentic & Delicious. Been there few times. Staffs were friendlier and they serve some good dishes. My favourite is semi dry beef curry chettinad style. The flavour of curry leaves does the magic.

My friends & I are big fans of their Sunday south indian buffet. That buffet got everything except a hot filter coffee. Very good value for money tho'.

Some of their dishes are overly priced but the taste nails it.

Wow... Great authentic Indian...
Reasonable service, but great food.
Probably best when quiet as only one waiter on when we went and we struggled to get attention sometimes

One of the best Indian restaurants around. A great combination of northern and southern Indian flavours, seved on HOT plates! Highly recommended.

Masala Dosa, Idli and Vada. South Indian buffet is on every Sundays at aachi's from 11.30 am to 2.30 pm. The menu includes vegetarian dishes from the south which includes masala dosa, idli, vada, pongal, uttappama and different chutneys to name some.
Christina Johnson
Awesome indian dishes with the real south indian flavour. Curries are not sweet unlike most indian restaurants around which is great. A bit pricy though

Delicious. As long time residents of Kew we were thrilled to dine so close to home and enjoy such delicious Indian food.
We are fans of Indian food and this was some of the nicest we have eaten in very pleasant surroundings and with friendly service.
We particularly enjoyed the Tandoori Platter which came sizzling to the table, the Tandoori Mushrooms, Lamb Korma and Butter Chicken. Our meal was finished with the pistachio Kulfi, yum!
We will definitely become regulars of this lovely restaurant hereafter.
Sudharsh
The best in Kew. Tandoori Platter is the masterpiece in this classic restaurant. I wasnt disappointed with the way they served and the taste is xxxxxx

Great food and Service. Me and my wife were at Aachi's last week for dinner and throughly enjoyed our meal. Being from Sydney we were unsure of the quality of Indian resturant in Melbourne. We ordered a light meal consisting of Chicken 65, Lamb curry, Palak Paneer with naan bread. While Chicken 65 was a bit salty, the Lamb and Palak blew us away - it was the best we have had in Australia. The lamb was cooked perfectly with the right intensity of spices, while the spinach in the palak retained some texture and was not beaten to a pulp! All in all a very plesant experience - definately worth going again.

Aachi's is a great addition to Kew Junction!! :). Such an amazing dining experience at Aachi's with my girlfriend!

Staff were very friendly and attentive, loved the menu options, especially the lovely mains which were very well priced!

HIGH RECOMMEND this great NEW restaurant in Kew!
Will definitely be coming back :)

Same stuff. I am sorry to say but the food for me doesn't seems to be extraordinary.... Went last week, end up paying for nothing. Expensive, very small portions and not good to taste for the money i pay..
I will never ever go there and waste my money

Like being back in Bombay.. Dined at this relatively new establishment on Saturday night and my taste palettes and I immensely enjoyed ourselves.

Ordered a fairly standard Indian fare; Chicken Tikka, Butter Chicken, Rojan Josh, Saag, Naan. Everything tasted as you'd expect good Indian to taste like, plus there was generous servings and it wasn't oily.

I'll definitely be visiting again, especially to try the South Indian cuisine!
MJS
Enjoyable dinner. Aachi has been open for a couple of weeks, it's new to the High St strip in Kew. Didn't want to cook last night, so thought we'd give it a try. Reasonably standard decor, attentive service. Had a couple of curries, a chicken tikka and a few other accompaniments. Very tasty and reasonably priced. Will go again.

I am always on the hunt for a good curry and I tend to struggle a bit lately but HOLD ON! It’s all ok Aachi’s is here and it is GREAT!! The menu is packed full of all those classics we know and love and a few extras. Samosa, Bhaji and kebabs with a touch of tandoori quail! Lamb, Beef, Chicken and fish all enjoy a touch of Sukka Varuval, Korma, Saagwala , Masala and Vindaloo. Service is quiet, efficient and polite – all those traits we love and the curries are great too!! Poppadoms are yum with those yummy condiments we all love and the bhajis are out of this world!! YUM!!! The currys are totally perfect! We enjoyed a few to share and they were all excellent! Madras fish curry, palak paneer and chicken biryani with a wonderful light naan….. anyones mouth watering??! Lunch? Dinner? Anytime I will be there!
