Review Now & Then - Kew

Rebecca Nolan
A wonderful experience. We had a great Friday night at CRU. Chloe took such good care of us and she is so knowledgeable about the extensive wine list. We sat in the beautiful courtyard and really enjoyed the music. We later moved into the front restaurant for dessert, nothing was too much trouble for Justin and his coworker. The entrees in particular were delicious, but the staff really make this place special. We are looking forward to returning soon.

I had my birthday party at CRU and it was amazing. The atmosphere was warm, in spite of the cold night. The food was also delicious and Paris, who looked after us, worked really hard to make sure we had a constant flow of food and drinks.
Vincent Choi
Friend’s recommendation for lunch. Great wine bar vibe with the art pairing. Will come back for another try.
Zoe Boccabella
Cru has a lovely atmosphere and a great menu with extensive wine list. Chloe was very helpful choosing our wine to match (she is a sommelier) and Zoe was very attentive and not intrusive at all. The house made gnocchi was light and fluffy, I really enjoyed it. My friends loved their crab pappardelle. We had a really nice night, can recommend Cru.

Attended the special Valentine's dinner early session, so one of the first couples to arrive. Owner Tony was completing his briefing session with his staff to ensure the smooth running of the evening from his special 3-choice "Fixed" menu of 4 courses. Great food, great atmosphere and a huge wine list which satisfied even the most discerning couples. Great to see Valentines from 20 yo to over 70 yo in our section of the restaurant enjoying each others' company and having a great time. The stem of roses in bud as a parting gift from CRU was a very pleasant and unexpected surprise. Pity Valentine's day is just once a year!

Fabulous restaurant. great food, fantastic wine list (Rockford Basket Press Shiraz 2017 ,Bravo) and modest prices. Service is A1, can't wait to go back there again, the staff and owner are really friendly. I highly recommend it!!

Delightful! Style, Service and Sensitivity. Always challenging to dine out with a youngster. At CRU, our granddaughter was welcomed, treated appropriately especially in accepting her reasonable requests to alter an item to suit and in receiving her thanks for the experience. Great menu, wines and ambience. Highly recommended.

The staff were very kind and the food was delicious :)

A random stop as we walked down the street. As visitors to Melbourne it’s great to find a gem when adventuring down high streets, and this place didn’t disappoint. Had brunch but so much to choose from. So if you in this area we recommend you stop. A place with just that extra bit of class. Thankyou.

I celebrated my 45 birthday with a high tea, with a party of 23 of my closest female friends and family. The staff was very professional attentive and friendly. The table was set up beautifully. The atmosphere was perfect. The High Tea menu was amazing, especially the chocolate mousse all the guest's were raving about how delicious it was. I highly recommend anyone who wants to celebrate a function or just come in just for some casual coffee and lunch. Great place happy customer will definitely be back again.

Usually I go to a cafe or restaurant and I am I'm impressed or disappointed. This was very disappointing. After neon showed to my seat it was about 15minutes later before I was given a menu. I had ordered the big breakfast and asked if I could exchange the baked beans for the spinach and could I also order a cafe Latte. The waitress was courteous and said yes to my request. My order arrived and it was not what was expected. 2 poached eggs, served with spinach and nothing else. I explained that the order was incorrect. Apologising she returned finally with the big breakfast and the spinach as requested. But there on the plate was the baked beans. She apologised and said that I wouldn't be charged for the baked beans. Finishing my lunch and leaving the baked beans she asked did you enjoy your meal. I replied that it would have been lovely if my meal had accompanied the coffee I had ordered. By this time I thought! They cannot get a simple order right! Along came the coffee and the waitress said the coffee was in the house. On leaving I was not only charged for my ordered meal, but for the coffee. Without bringing it to there attention I decided that their overall service was poor. Sorry Guys but you have to better than this.

Love Love Love this place, the fitout is beautiful, the service 5 star and the food did not disappoint. We will be back

Great food - avo, muesli pancakes - all fantastic! Plus AAA staff led by Sabin! A master!
Jacqui Lampe
Eggs are always poached perfectly. Love the atmosphere and the staff are always accommodating to us. Wheelchair accessible at the rear. The only down side is the toilets are not easily accessible by wheelchair. Not impossible though.
Libby Mitchell
Twice we’ve been here for breakfast now and it was just fabulous. Will have to keep coming back until we’ve tried all the great choices on the menu!
Mandy Stableford
We were actually having a family lunch here after a funeral and the staff ( a young lady) couldn't have been more helpful and friendly even putting my 2 yo granddaughter's boot back on! That's not in the job description. Lovely food and atmosphere, will definitely be back
Amanda Howard
Fantastic place for baby Shower, lovely decor and space for get together! Food was great as were the staff! Will go back for coffee soon
Ken Lee
Go for the chicken burger if you are here for lunch. You will be impressed.

Fantastic venue. Service and the food was amazing.
Kimmythefoodlover
A big and spacious venue. I quite like the decor and vibe here.<br/>They’re open till 5pm with last food orders around 4:30, which is great for those who like to have late lunch and mid afternoon coffees. In addition they also serve alcohol which is a nice option for people who enjoy boozy brunches. I wasn’t too hungry so I just chose a chicken snitzel sandwich from the display cabinet and it was delicious. Highly recommend it. Service was good but I reckon the girls were a lot more friendly than the guy working at the counter. Anyway that’s just how I felt. Overall it’s worth a visit.
Taster
I looked forward to a cafe treat with my son this morning, post COVID. I won’t return to Now and Then. The toasted sandwich was fine, the brownie was acceptable. The blue water glasses were either dirty or scratched (if scratched, should be replaced). I put it down to not being quite rinsed and drank anyway. The coffee though ... was made using not fresh soy milk (it separated in the cup) and was served in a glass with someone else’s lipstick all over it 🤮 seriously?! The wait staff were polite enough and removed it from my order, but it suggests some kitchen/back end processes aren’t working well. Won’t be back.
Stellios
Perfect brunch/lunch place! Food was great, atmosphere great, decor was awesome and service was perfect for my liking. Great coffee too. We came with 7 of us and everyone was more than happy with their food!

Well, whadya know, not only is it already the year 2020, it has also been about 5? months since my last review. Yowzah! Was Jojo on a diet? Hell no! Life’s too short for that.<br/><br/>About a month ago, we checked out this cafe upon invitation. While we didn’t manage to get a car space along the busy High Street where it’s situated, the ample side street parkings made it easy to find one.<br/><br/>The venue is spacious and inviting with a noticeable white and blue theme. I was thirsty upon arrival, so we kicked off with a couple of drinks as we continued browsing the menu. My Detox Juice with apples, carrots, beetroots, celery and ginger was a refreshing combo and my partner equally enjoyed his glass of Sauvignon Blanc. Surely you can tell who the designated driver of the day was? Lol!<br/><br/>After much tossing between the Chilli Scramble, Poke Bowl and Pasta Arrabbiata, it was ultimately the Arrabbiata. You see, we walked past an Italian restaurant on the way here and yes, nosy me had to just stop and look at the menu, hence the ringing of pasta bells at the back of my head. Well, definitely no regrets here. The dish was well executed with a texture and intensity that was just right coupled with a good kick of heat.<br/><br/>My partner surprised me by ordering the American Boy burger since I’ve never known him to be a big burger fan. A few mouthfuls into it and the soft buns, perfectly cooked, juicy patty and some really good cheese had him looking pretty content.<br/><br/>He finished off with a robust brew of house-blend double espresso. Nope, nothing else for me, thank you. Jojo was packed to the brim by then, awaiting a good afternoon nap...<br/><br/>Overall, it was a lovely experience and we would like to thank owners Sanjay and Sabin for hosting us. While we may not live close to Kew, we wouldn’t hesitate to drop by again if we’re ever in the area.<br/><br/>And, considering that this is my first review after a long hiatus, I would like to take this opportunity to wish all my fellow Zomatoers a very Happy New Year! Timinmelbourne, Joe K, Phuong Tran, Aman Saraf, Two Sheds, Prof. Pinky@LunchLab, Hello. Imnikki, Cino&#039;s Mum, Kate63, DianaW, ToorakM, Yukta Meena, Ozzy Kunnu, Mustard.. Happy eating guys!

The Lobster Benedict was simply put, delicious! The lobster meat was poached giving it a soft texture, and the natural flavour was highlighted with olive oil, pairing well with the fluffy and buttery brioche. The hollaindaise sauce was silky as advertised and the creamy flavour contrasted well with the beetroot hummus. The perfectly poached egg with runny yolk served to add any extra layer of creamy flavour too. (However I did remove the jalapenos, as it would be too spicy for me!)
Penguineats
If not for the Hotcake, this would’ve been an utterly miserable meal. After waiting for more than 45 minutes, we received dishes that were generally poorly executed, clearly without much care or thought.

4.5<br/>Enjoyable extensive menu with many of the favourites, a big lunchtime burger menu and unique breakfast dishes including lobster benedict & beetroot hash. <br/><br/>This mornings breakfast at Now & Then Cafe was a serene treat away from the hustle and bustle of Pre Christmas craziness. We opted to sit outside but there was a crazy number of seats inside including a back area that would be perfect for larger groups or private functions. <br/><br/>My strong almond latte, delivered on the strong and was deliciously creamy. Made with Kali coffee which we hadn’t tried before it was quite a subtle blend. <br/><br/>Today we ordered the pancakes, lobster benedict and a pina colada smoothie which was super refreshing and made with apple & coconut water. Full of mango flavour, with blended mint. <br/><br/>The Blueberry Maple Hotcakes where wonderful. I loved the generous smothering of maple, deliciously crunchy hotcake top with a lovely soft and fluffy inner. The twist of  having berry gelato rather than ice cream kept the flavours nice and light. I absolutely loved the inclusion of fresh passionfruit, brining in a tarty element, really fabulous fresh flavours. <br/><br/>The  Lobster Benedict, was such a decadent delight to be served in a brunch menu. This came served in a long brioche bun with perfect poached eggs and a relatively light hollandaise. There was plenty of lobster to what I was anticipating and although it wasn’t practical to pick this dish up like a lobster roll it was a very enjoyable experience. <br/><br/>As far as the brunch menu went I found the menu quite heavy on savoury and the only sweet dishes were a bircher and the pancakes. Could have used a third sweet option in my opinion. A granola, smoothie bowl/ light breakfast option would have been perfect. Don’t get me wrong there was certainly plenty for me to choose from. <br/><br/>Thanks so much for your hospitality.
DAMMIT JANET I LOVE FOOD
A great spot to head to for groups large or small as this cafe is massive, and had a lovely relaxed vibe. The Ruben sandwich was full of flavour and contained super tender pastrami. While the Chilli Scramble was served with a delicious relish and refreshing cucumber noodles.

A beautiful white layout in this cafe makes it inviting. It was bustling with customers. I thought the menu could be better along with the quality of food. Cafe has so much potential to be better with a more appealing menu and more care put into the dishes. Coffee was good 👍**Disclaimer: although the restaurant has generously invited me to their restaurant this review is still based on my genuine opinion.
Oliver Brown
The Decor of this restaurant is just amazing. The staff are very friendly. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Amazing customer service so friendly and helpful. I have recently moved to the area and I know that Now and Then will be my go to.

Really lively and attractive place. So relaxing and beautiful. This is my first review on Zomato and so happy it started off with a great place like this. The food is 5 star all the way.
Taeyeon's Hamster
4.5 stars<br/>We were invited to try out Now & Then's newest menu which hasn't been published yet on their website or updated here on Zomato. Many dishes retain a similar name but re-invented.<br/><br/>We loved the detailed and carefully made coffee art by the barista, certainly not something you see everyday. N&T breakfast and Hampton Sea Breeze was our choice, although it's so hard to decide when there are so much good options.<br/><br/>What we liked about N&T was that the avocado smash and warm poached eggs with hollandaise sauce made the sourdough much softer and easier to knife through. If you are super hungry the Big One N&T breakfast we noticed was quite impressive as well. It's executed well and not oily at all.<br/><br/>Hampton Sea Breeze really surprised us. It came on top of a young coconut with mango, avocado, fresh scallops and caviar. The scallops were delightfully fresh and not overcooked with a hint of lemon. We're also keen to try the lobster Benedict as well next time. Thank you for having us. We'll be back

I had a great time here. The staff was great and the food just fantastic.

Went here for lunch today and overall had a good experience. I ordered a burger which was ok, nothing special. Staff were friendly and place is nicely designed. Not sure if I’d go back

They say first impressions last which is why I’m looking forward to venturing back to Now & Then Café as soon as I can. Being greeted at the door with a warm welcome and smile really makes the world of difference to your dining experience, and that’s certainly what I received when being shown to my table by the lovely waiting staff! It was after 2pm that I arrived and the floor was still a hive of activity well after the lunchtime rush. And it’s very obvious why! After finishing off the perfectly promptly-delivered delectable latte I then ordered the California Hash and it was beyond spectacular. Among the scrumptious poached eggs, super greens, grilled tomato and halloumi was one of the best house-made hash browns I have tasted in my life. And I should know. I’ve eaten many hundreds in my time! And, I have to say, not all mushrooms are made the same. These were also nothing short of magnificent. I’m not sure what secret herbs and spices they used on these, but I want to find out! All of this on top of a friendly and efficient service coupled with a relaxed, charming atmosphere and beautiful decor, there’s no way this will be a mere one-time visit. Highly recommended!

Amazing! The lobster benny was insane. It is a new item off their menu. It’s a must try. The coffee was super cute when it came out and the attention to detail was impressive. The decor is beautiful, reminiscent of the Hampton’s with a very beachy and relaxed vibe. And the staff are very attentive and friendly.

I went to Now & Then with my kids. The staff were very friendly and the food was fantastic. I would definitely recommend this place.

Great looking place coffee was good but didn't enjoy big breakfast poach egg was over , bacon didn't taste right

Very nice cafe! Food was delicious and looked so pretty on the plate and really nice setting as well.<br/><br/>Would come back again and would recommend

The place is very beautiful and looks so sophisticated. The staff was amazing and super friendly. The food was delicious. <br/>

The soy cap was creamy and the scramble was yummy especially the chilli chutney on the side, wish they'd added more of that for some more relish.

Great dining moment with the family!

Came here for lunch today , we had the fish burger , beef check , tea and coffee and a macaroon. <br/>I love how they have the coconut cream with the burger , kind of harmonised the flavour. Beef cheek is tender and rich with flavour. Delicious food ,Friendly staffs and elegant decor . Looking forward to come back to try the fish taco .
FoodLoverQueenM
Been here for once. Nice and big place, but can’t agree with coffee and food. Coffee is very different flavour when you taste. Also Can’t get parking in weekend .
Foooodylicious
Now and Then cake is a alright cafe. I loved the maple syrup and blueberry hotcakes. It is a good place to go for morning tea. Now and then is a low key alright cafe.

I attended an out of hours Saturday night 70th birthday party a few weeks ago at Now and Then Cafe.<br/>It was fantastic.  The staff were so efficient and friendly.  The food was plentiful and so divine that I keep thinking of it - fish and chips to die for and other wonderful pass round food.<br/>Thanks to all - see you for lunch one day.<br/><br/>Sue Grant,<br/>Lorne

Now and Then is a really nice place with a lovely feeling about it. There are passionate waiters that serve there and they are really nice. They also have a private room out the back that looks very cool.
Reiijoce
Poor presentation, nothing special about the dishes.Had the tempura snapper (such a small piece) fish burger which looked pathetic.<br/>Not worth the $ spent.
Flabnbone Food
We visited Now and Then for lunch. The cute design of the cafe was what caught my eye from a distance so that's how we decided to eat there. Staff were friendly and attentive.<br/><br/>We ordered the Baja Fish Taco and Crushed Avo.<br/><br/>The fish taco dish was tasty however there was way too much of the special mayo sauce overthrowing the balance of the dish. I would have liked more crunch maybe from peanuts or slaw. Wasn't too sure why the tortillas were blue.<br/><br/>The crushed avo dish was huge and the sauteed kale was very fresh and green. The pomegranate seeds were a colorful fresh addition.<br/><br/>Instagram @Flabnbone_Food<br/>

Food:4/5<br/>Coffee:5/5<br/>Service: 5/5<br/>Atmosphere:5/5<br/>Pet friendly:5/5<br/><br/>First time here and I must say we’d be back!<br/><br/>Hampton style decorated cafe made the cafe look so inviting and even the outdoor seating wasn’t spared the details. <br/><br/>Coffee was one of the best we’ve had- hot but not bitter and aromatic. <br/><br/>Hubby ordered the Reuben and he really liked it. However he’d prefer the portion size to be slightly bigger. <br/><br/>I normally don’t go with burgers as they are messy to eat and slightly heavy for brunch, BUT Southern Bella is what I’d get my fingers messy! Crispy fried chicken was crunchy yet juicy even though it was breast meat. The slightly spicy sauce, pickles and even the bun all worked really well together. This is a must try if you like your burgers.<br/><br/>We’d be happy to come back anytime.
Spirited Stardust
The tables & chairs were a little dirty and it took a while to be given menus.<br/>There were some vegan items on the menu.<br/>I got the detox juice which was lovely.<br/>And the vegan scramble which contained bbq jackfruit. It was lovely.
Stefan Malaka
The experience was just terrible the people were just rude as hell and sat us next the most loud people ever. The food was terrible as well, bland and shit.
Saster
Pleasant ambience however food and service is average. Portion of fish taco is small. Quite a popular cafe, looks small in front but is large inside.<br/>
Juliashmov
Incredible food, addictive coffee + topped off with wonderful staff! You must try the Southern Bella burger... one meal here is not enough. Definitely coming back and trying more of the menu!
The Wandering Reviewer
Come here regularly for catch up with friends but often than not in the event room at the rear of the building. Not wheelchair accessible to this room. <br/>Food is great whether it’s coffee and cake or a full meal. Today was a large range of meals for everyone and they definitely catered for the dietaries or people attending .<br/>Takeaway coffee and food available. <br/>Staff are always excellent. Helpful and smily. They make the experience that bit better. <br/>Good car parking out the front but is limited to one hour so parking at the nearby Woolies car park. <br/>Wheelchair friendly but not to the toilets which are downstairs. Kid friendly with high chairs available.
Samantha Shan
Had lunch here, menu looks amazing and service was good. However kitchen was very disappointing. Had to wait more than 30mins for lunch and they’ve got it wrong twice. First time the kitchen forgot my avocado in the sandwich, then they forgot about mayo?! How hard is a chicken & avocado sandwich?
Jess S.
A good place for coffee but the food is quite average. The cafe has a really nice atmosphere and serves food till around 4-5pm which is great. I have been numerous times and nothing has stood out to me yet. The menu also hasn’t changed much in the last year (with the exception that they now have a summer seafood menu).
Dani Callanan
Such a happy and bright café! The staff are friendly, they have great coffee and delicious food - what else could you ask for? I recommend sitting outside next to the little picket fence.
Billy Stafford
Just had a fantastic late afternoon feed at Now and Then. Burger was beautiful and the service was even better. Will definitely be coming back.
Denny Patron
Had the poached eggs with hollandaise and avo (hold the avo) thinking it was an eggs benny but it was more a DIY version. It was ok, nothing amazing but no complaints. Service was fast and friendly but that’s expected on a quiet midweek morning.
Timinmelbourne
2.5/5<br/>I had a piccolo latte here. The service was ok but there was some confusion about my order for<br/>some reason which I didn’t quite understand. <br/><br/>The cafe wasn’t very busy but I had to wait about 10-15 mins for my coffee. And unfortunately it wasn’t very good. <br/><br/>The coffee tasted bitter, and I didn’t enjoy it. But I didn’t want to ask for another coffee so I just left. <br/><br/>FYI I could see another local cafe that was very busy.
Foods Of Melbourne
I was super happy with my experience at now and then! The service was great - the gentleman that helped me was super friendly and helpful, and the coffee was on point. Great vibe in the place too, quite busy! I ordered the fritters and added chorizo and I was slightly disappointed. Generally, when I’ve ordered fritters I’ve always been happy! But these were a little too mushy - kinda just fell apart, they were yummy but the texture just wasn’t there. The rest of the meal was brilliant and I’d go back and have another dish but just come constructive criticism!
Willzie
Ordered slow cooked beef cheek and it was actually not bad except the chickpea crisps are supposed to be crispy not stale. My friend had California hash and it was below average. <br/>Really bad coffee and matcha latte. Half of the cup was weak froth and there was 0 effort of latte art. Trainee barista?<br/>Probably won’t return.
Newfoodie
We had high tea that did not include tea. Also a member of the group was charged $45 not $40. Reason was “the manager just told me this price” Not much food served. Scones where dense. Would not go back. Also be careful of going to the bathroom, as the floor is very uneven.
Vanessa
A pleasant cafe in Kew where the design is spacious and appealing. There’s lots to choose from the menu. We ordered the “California Hash” which was surprisingly plain considering the number of ingredients on there. Thankfully, the “Woodfire Beef Cheek” was more flavoursome. The coffee was delicious while the matcha latte was a tad on the bitter side.
Yve Lim
We loved it! Was affordable and had great serving sizes. It's hard to find a simple big breakkie these days and this Cafe did it perfectly! We're going back to lunch this weekend!
Molly Lowe
I came to this cafe with three young girls and we all ordered off the kids menu (I wasn't all that hungry). The girls were excited with their chicken poppers and I had the fish and chips. The sweet potato fries were to die for and the fish was delicious. The chicken poppers were the 'best in the world', everyone was full and happy by the end of our meals! Love this place, highly recommend!
Mjgrichards
Had a fantastic lunch yesterday. The wood fired beef cheeks were the best & most tender have ever had. A perfectly poached egg on top and on a bed of smooth creamy pumpkin purée. Heaven. <br/>My partner had the southern chicken burger which he also loved. <br/>Coffee and service were great also. Terrific local eatery.
Taeyeon's Hamster
First impression of the cafe was that the interior was quite modern and well decorated, with a beach feeling and staff were very welcoming. I heard the cafe source and roast their own coffees, but wasn't quite impressed with the coffee I bought. The coffee was rather weak nor too aromic in smell. Didn't catch too much caffeine from it, so had to grab an extra shot elsewhere.
Timeless Food
#tb It was a very hot January Saturday in Melbourne and we wanted a nice brunch before running some errand for work. Saw this place in Zomato and wanted to give a try since we were around Kew to do some banking.<br/><br/>Le bf was complaining that it was so hot outside that he can cook an egg outside his car. True enough, the heat wave reached us and we quickly rushed to the restaurant. Thank God we parked the car right in front of it. However, the place wasn’t cool as they used auto door which was close and open as people passed by along the street and customers coming in and out. Service was greeted with a smile and we were seated facing the FOH. I saw a young lady doing shakes and juices and reminiscing the good ol’ days of me working in hospo. <br/><br/>We started with Le bf’s usual latte and I wanted juice as I had a long night shift before. Ordered the Go Green juice which contains all the green stuff that I need to rejuvenate myself. Le bf was commenting that I should eat fresh fruit instead of juice as juice contains more “natural sugar” compared to a fruit by itself. I’m very particular to natural sweetness so thank God the juice wasn’t that sweet and kinda quenched my thirst for the hot day. I had the southern fried chicken burger while Le bf had the 12-hour slow cooked pulled pork. Our burgers were presented in a wooden-style wood plate (I don’t know what you call that but I see the burger industry loves to use this type of presentation style for burgers) with paper as the base. I challenged myself to try the chicken burger with watermelon. First thought would be chicken+watermelon? What the heck? Well, true enough it was pretty disappointing. There was no flavour in the burger despite the massive ingredients on the burger, chicken was dry and worst still the burger was sooooo huge that I can’t even cut into half. In the end, it was so messy for me to cut that I even cut the paper on the plate. I wouldn’t be surprised if I ate some blue paper with my burger. I laughed with my Le bf and I vividly remembered complaining how huge it was that it was so difficult to eat. For small fingers (mind you I’m quite medium), I will not recommend this burger if you want to challenge yourself with watermelon burger. Even with the knife and fork, I couldn’t capture all the burger ingredients as a whole. Le bf’s pulled pork wasn’t satisfying either. It was dry and meh. Plus with the hot heat and “uncool” dining place, poor lad was sweating. Pretty disappointing brunch on a hot day.<br/><br/>Overall, we spent no-good $50ish and couldn’t bring ourself to this place again despite the nice environment and pleasant service.
Split The Bill
We posted a photo on our instagram & Facebook of our recent visit here before updating our review & we received a lotif questions about the lobster Benedict. The dish like in the photos is a great portion size, there as a good amount of lobster & it was delicious. The lobster was poached then sautéed with garlic butter. The two eggs were perfectly poached and the hollandaise was good. We also had a coffee & chai latte with soy plus eggs on toast! We will definitely revisit again soon. <br/><br/>UPDATED REVIEW<br/><br/>If you are in Kew and are feeling a bit beachy visit Now and Then cafe. The decor is very Hampton style glam really this fabulous cafe should be somewhere along the beach, I'm thinking past Brighton or Sorrento. We started off with coffees which we were pleased to know that they source and roast their own coffee. The coffee blend had delicious chocolate undertones. We also had the burger and calamari salad, both were delicious. We especially liked the vanilla slice which was a thick stab of vanilla custard in between layers of flaky pantry.

Amazing food and service.coffee was amazing. great vibe, atmosphere and lovely staff. would go back for sure. Prices are cheaper than expected.
Lee Pownall
It was based solely on food, I would have given a higher rating. The soft tacos were absolutely delicious! The staff are not overly friendly though and they need to take a hospitality course. My pet hate is when waiters take plates away from a table when there are people still eating. BIG no no
Anneliese
This is a great cafe in the Kew district! The layout is so modern & appealing.<br/>I ordered the french fruit toast which was delicious & my mum had the Bircher which she also enjoyed! The coffees were great too, I tried both their matcha latte and mocha. They also have a great selection of sweets at the front.<br/>Would love to come back and try their savoury dishes!
Katielangeee
Great food, coffee was tasty, the service was quick and loved the atmosphere. Dog friendly, waitress brought out a bowl for my dog so he could have a drink.
Miss Sage Sugar
I chose the ‘Reuben Sandwich on Rye – shaved pastrami, sauerkraut, pickles, mustard, swiss cheese and Russian dressing ($17.00)’. I was very impressed with this version of a Reuben, with the spicy, thick-cut pastrami and the lusciousness from the Russian dressing and melted cheese.

Friendly staff and Good Coffee. <br/>I loved the environment and décor.<br/>Went on Saturday it was very busy and waited for table <br/>Really frustrated in the beginning but they changed my mind. <br/>I will come again
Elfar
Very rubbish coffee unfortunately after waiting 15 min to get. At least if there is a long wait on coffee, it has to be professionally made.<br/>Food is not there either, lack of flavours. Hollandaise tasted really funny.<br/>In my opinion there are lot better places around for spending exact same money. I won't recommend this place.
Rachel Alyssa Foster
This place is somewhere in the middle of meh and no. Good coffee, and that's where it ends. The smashed ava is particularly gross, there are some grotty flavours in there, including that tang of stale av that's bean in the fridge a day or two. Toast was like eating concrete. Hash browns had a yucky back ground flavour going on, they'd possibly been frozen for a lengthy period. Bacon was good. <br/><br/>I couldn't finish my meal it was grossing me out too much. Not coming back.<br/><br/>Oh and the serving staff are clearly hung over.
Byron's Vanilla Slice Blog
These guys kindly let me come in after closing on a Friday night. I purchased some much needed home roasted coffee beans and a sneaky homemade vanilla slice... A+ for hospitality. The sweet offering was smaller than average and had a respectable $3 price tag. The whole thing was enjoyable, if not a little messy. The icing sugar ended up pretty much everywhere after consumption due to its severe dusting. The custard was pretty average and had a slight vanilla hint and a viscosity that was in keeping with successful freestyle eating. The pastry would have been fresh that morning and was still flaky, though sadly the buttery crunch had disappeared by the time I got to it. Altogether, not bad.
Kady
The food was not bad. The slaw in the chicken burger was delicious and the serving was quite large. The lamb salad ok nothing special. <br/>We went on a public holiday and we're told we could not order a ham, cheese tomato sandwich which I found very strange considering you could get toast and get some of the fillings as sides. I don't understand why it would be excluded from the menu - not really hard to make. <br/>Service wasn't great, they bought us the wrong coffees at first and then after we got our food there wasn't much service at all, having to go get more water ourselves and try get the waitresses attention to order more coffees. The place wasn't even half full. <br/>Overall pretty average, not somewhere I'd return.

Worst smashed avocado ever. Half of the meal was steamed kale which smelt terrible. I dont know how they thought it was okay to serve; it smelt like off and rotting food, the avocado itself tasted like nothing and the tiny bit of feta was not good. I have never received something so inedible before, maybe their fridges were not working properly and the food was starting to spoil? I love the burgers but unfortunately the smashed avocado has turned me off Now and Then forever

*Just okay*<br/><br/>Happened to be walking past with hubby and baby in tow and was seduced in by the size and hampton style decor of the cafe. Staff were friendly and we were promptly seated and our food order was taken. Hubby opted for the burger while i settled in for the berry hotcakes. I ordered tea which came in a pot. It was chipped and as I poured tea into my cup the lid which was broken fell in the cup and splashed all over me. Food was okay.. not wow but just okay. This is where my experience started to waver...<br/>Impressions - not very baby/pram friendly cafe. The entrance had a very steep step up - this required hubby to tilt the pram at an odd angle while baby slept in her bassinet. There are no baby change tables or disabled toilets and just to use the bathroom required some care as you are required to walk down a flight of stairs. I ended up having to change my baby in the hallway in full view of people walking past to use the bathroom. Not impressed at all...

Delicious choc chip cookie! My friend told them they bake their own! :) also we had lunch here and the waittress serving us was really great!

Finally visited Now & Then for brunch today, after passing several times and being attracted by it's fresh design and beautiful open seating area. The wait staff were friendly and attentive upon arrival, the chairs comfortable and the interior design very appealing, but the food was bland and disappointing. We ordered tea, coffee, the Breakfast Burrito special, a bucket of chips and Poached eggs on gluten free toast with avocado, bacon and spinach. The latte was delivered to our table before it had settled, and when it did it had almost three cm of foam and was far too hot. My partner had tea leaves pour out of the spout when he went to enjoy his tea. When our meals arrived there were several issues; The gluten free toast was texturally revolting - I assume it was toasted immediately from frozen, as it was incredibly soggy in the centre and burnt around the edges, rendering parts of it inedible. One of the poached eggs had already broken before being delivered to the table, which was disappointing. The spinach was inconsistently cooked, some blackened, some wilted and some fresh, and dumped half on the plate and half on the toast without any consideration given to presentation. The avocado was inoffensive, if not underseasoned. The bacon was fine. Both the toast and the spinach could have done with a good knob of butter, as the food was overall quite flavourless. We would have loved to try the hollandaise but it contained apple cider, thus rendering it a no-go for fructose malapsorbers. My partner's burrito was also underseasoned, and supposedly contained a "bacon slab" which was really a large chunk of what appeared to be un-cured pork. The chips were unremarkable, supermarket-style and again, underseasoned. The staff didn't reappear to check on our meals after we had been served. They allowed a bill split without fuss, but didn't query the quality of our meals. We would have grabbed dessert on the way out, but there didn't appear to be any gluten free options, and if there were they were not labelled as such.Overall quite disappointing. Would not recommend.

I am not one to normally complain about service I receive but I am extremely upset about having my Mothers Day ruined today. <br/><br/>Booked 6wks ago and all was well when we were seated and ordered coffees and food within 5 mins with coffees arriving in another 5mins. Our waitress was also polite and welcoming. But that's where the good points stop. <br/><br/>Waited over 1.20mins for food which still didn't arrive. 3 other tables of people <br/>with larger groups than us who were seated at least 20mins after us were served food quicker. My 18month old son was the only baby in the restaurant and became so distressed from waiting and being hungry that we left. <br/><br/>When we went to the counter to inform the staff we were leaving, they apologized but we were still charged full price for our coffees. We were so hungry when we left we ended up having McDonalds so my lovely morning of spending time with my family for Mothers Day was essentially ruined. <br/><br/>I understand it was Mothers Day and I was expecting a wait but when you are seated before other tables and order before them (and have less people than those tables with simple orders of eggs and toast) I expect an established cafe to be able to time manage customers appropriately. <br/><br/>We sent an email to voice our disappointment and received a return email. It was an insincere apology with a list of excuses because it was Mothers Day. Again completely understand it was Mothers Day but I have been here on multiple occasions where tables were not served in order and waited an very long time to which I have never complained before. <br/><br/>I hope the service improves but I personally will never be visiting this cafe again. <br/>

I almost never write reviews, however I feel the need to do so after the worst breakfast I've ever had this morning.<br/><br/>Coffee - thin, weak and pallid.<br/><br/>Food - not fresh, completely inflexible with their menu options, and a sweet potato fritters dish that was inedibly spicy. Also VERY over-priced.<br/><br/>Service - very slow. Worst of all, the owner was completely uninterested in responding to our requests.<br/><br/>We've been to Now and Then a few times before, but never again. Bean2Q, Via Verona, and Ora are all MUCH better options in the nearby area.

If I could give this place a zero I would! The food was cold and almost inedible. The poached eggs were hard. My family and I were a group of 16 and were unable to be served together, even though we were able to make the booking, as our group was "too big". We waited 1.5hrs for our food, only half the table was served and the others were served 20 minutes later after one end of the table had already finished. They were unable to understand the need for a change to the menu for my grandmother (she asked for fresh bread instead of toast as due to health conditions toast is a chocking hazard for her), her meal came out with toast. When we flagged any of this with the manager she was rude and passive aggressive. Would not go back if I was dying of hunger..I almost was after the wait!

Spacious cafe in Kew serving a classic salads, burgers, brunch menu. We enjoyed friendly service and a good food but the price point was a bit high for the offering. Good spot to eat with a group though.
Coffee And Food
All change to now and then cafe. Before this cafe there were so many cafes open and closed at this site. Nice environment and big space. Foods were ok but coffee need to improve. Staffs need to be more polite.

Alright, but we won't be returning as it failed to hit all the right notes for us.<br/><br/>n.b. current menu has been updated compared to Zomato version. The 'USA' theme continues, the burgers, mac and cheese etc are all still available.<br/><br/>We had the Sloppy Joe (American style bolognese with scrambled eggs and goats cheese) and the Spanish Beans (come with chorizo). The Sloppy Joe was admittedly quite tasty, though the 'American' style seems to equal lots of added sugar in the bolognese. Spanish beans were alright, though undercooked as still a bit firm. The coffee was alright.<br/><br/>I can see the attraction of this venue for those with large groups, or with the kids in tow. It's a cavernous venue, and on an early sunday afternoon had plently of room to spare. For those seeking a quiet space, the outside seating was welcome.<br/><br/>All in all, prices are pegged at the higher end, e.g. smashed avo with poached egg sets you back $22.

Metamorphosis .....<br/><br/>What used to be Fred Young has changed its name, still the same owner?<br/><br/>What used to be one of Kew institution has fallen behind.<br/><br/>This place still got one of the biggest and well fit-out space in Kew, always enjoyable footpath sitting area, blanket and all.<br/><br/>The changed name and Menu haven't improved their offering, still an average coffee and "old school" brunch menu.<br/><br/>There's more to work on, catching up with the food scene, especially in Kew.<br/><br/>All the best.

Lunch at Now & Then Cafe today. I have walked past here several times before and it always looked bright and friendly. <br/><br/>I love the open layout on the inside and the comfy seating out the front. The staff were quick to great and seat us, and provide us with the specials for the day.<br/><br/>I went with one of the many burgers they had on the menu. Southern Belle: golden fried chicken, slaw, Louisiana spicy mayo, jalapeños in a white bun served with fat chips. The chicken was excellently cooked, extremely crispy but still juicy. However, it did need a bit more sauce and jalapeños. Maybe some cheese, tomato, or bacon to give it a real edge. <br/><br/>I also tried the Reuben sandwich served toasted on sourdough bread. This sandwich was excellent. It consists of silverside , pickled cabbage, special mayo, and cheese. It was great and I would recommend it to anyone.<br/><br/>Overall the burger was very well cooked and tasty, but not amazing for its price. However, the Reuben sandwich which was less pricey was delightful. Decent coffee, service and a nice and comfy atmosphere made for a very pleasant lunch.

Very unpleasant place ! I ordered a croissant for breakfast and the butter that came with it contained HAIRS and was DIRTY as showed in the picture attached. DISGUSTING.<br/>Even I told it to the manager and the waitress, they seemed only to care about the bloggers and instagrammers taking pictures of their poached eggs and not about the other customers. I took a picture as well by the way...<br/>Never coming back to this place.<br/>Be careful when eating your food, check first if it is not DIRTY.

This place is more known for their fitout design and comfort than for their food and coffee. Hampton style high society design. It is comfortable and baby friendly. <br/><br/>Coffee is decent without being consistent. Been here a couple of times and my coffee is different each time. Most food is averae except for the sweet potato chips is decent. <br/><br/>Overall, this place fit Kew well. Good for catchup without too much emphasis on food or coffee.Nelly Law

Quite a limited menu for lunch here. I ordered the Texan chicken burger. Really big portion but the burger was average. The sweet potato chips are amazing though!! Good hot chocolate too.
Peanut Butter Cup
Visited this cafe to grab a coffee and study. The service was quick and pleasant, and the coffee was good. The only negative was being placed right in front of the doors, which would were opening and closing often, but i'm not really bothered. I would return to this cafe.

Great fit out, lots pf thoughts been put into this spacious cafe, good service, ordered soy latte and latte, coffee is fine, can be stronger, milk is not creamy, soy is fine, they use bonsoy. Latte art - not so much. Waited too long for slow cooked pork burger and steak, food is below average, no seasoning for the steak, maybe not their strong point, burger - can improve on the bread, too much sauce to compete with the taste of its pork. Don't like the red and white paper on the board. Looked at their dessert counter, desserts looked dry, so didn't order any. But interior is great. They need to work on the food.
FullCreamAhead
This little café does an impecable job of making you feel like you've popped down to sorrento for a beach side breakfast. Its washed wood furniture and coastal blues are spot on. I ordered the SMASHED AVO again...woops, I couldnt help myself....BUT with no regrets >> the mushrooms are a great addition to the dish! Staff were bubbly and overly accommodating. Overall a relatively CHEAP outing with breaky and a coffeeee for only $21
Manindr87
By far the best cafe fit-out I've seen! Not much to fault with the rest of the cafe either. Staff were very attentive and polite, food delicious and coffee was great!

Bright and open atmosphere. Can get a little loud if you are seated in the front section. <br/>Purple corn Nachos were great, Mac and cheese was a little plain.
Snow_ox
All I have to say is that it started and finished with bad service.<br/>I could add that the table next to me also experienced the same. Or that I had to approach the barista to order coffee, or that the waiter that delivered the coffee didn't want to take our food order. But, I think it is sufficient to say the whole experience, food included was poor at best.
Jay
Walked into the cafe and the place smelled like freshly baked brownies, it was heavenly. We sat outside and the service was great, our server was lovely and I loved that there were blankets outside.<br/>The coffee was good and the good was flavoursome as well.

Ordered 3 coffees before we sat down, got 2, didn't recurve the third coffee till after we had finished our breakfast. Got the baked chorizo and beans special in which the beans weren't cooked enough! <br/>Also missed the order of 2 additional eggs which the smashed avo and only recorded one egg! <br/>All in all very poor experience!
Melbournian
Nice food and drinks but they seem to have some service issues. I was given someone else's food, same order except mine on gluten free bread. So I was given something which a.) was not mine, and b.) I couldn't eat and could have made me sick had I started eating it. Not good. When they realised the error, I had already touched the food, which I told the waitperson who took it back, yet then watched them give it to the customer to whom it belonged, so that was pretty bad! I give 2 just because my food and coffee was good (although a little on the small side), but they really need to sort out their other problems.
Kane Jackson
A great place with great wait staff. A shame the kitchen won't leave tomato out of a sandwhich as requested due to an allergy. Very disappointing.

I had been here before and was fine but then I read reviews on bad service<br/>well low and behold, the bad service came true<br/>I got there and was behind this other couple and the waitress took this couple to their table and just left me standing, the worst thing was other waiters/waitresses just walked past me and didnt even come up to me.. so after 2mins standing there i said to the barista in a stern voice ' can i sit down' ( was waiting for my friend to arrive).. then you think the staff would notice you are at a table with no menus, so why should i be just sitting there.. so i had to ask for menus<br/>now i can see why people rate this place as terrible for service, food was ok<br/>so for that reason, not going back and telling all my friends about crap service

Lunch on a Sunday afternoon.... We sat outside and enjoyed a Sunday lunch of fish and chips and a burger. Food and service was good. We were too full for coffee or cake, but maybe next time.....

Disappointed. Whilst the ambience and location of N&T are great unfortunately the meal portion to $ value are a real disappointment. <br/>Only coffee for me.

Very pretty cafe, food & service a bit disappointing!. This cafe is very lovely looking, and the food looked very nice also, so I was looking forward to coming. I ordered smashed avocado, mushroom & poached egg. The smashed avocado was literally just that and it was cold! Not just room temperature, it was cold! Not how I expected my breakfast to come, with nice warm toast and poached egg. When I told the wait staff my breakfast was cold, she took it away to warm it up, but then returned and handed it back to me, saying that was how they served it. So I unhappily finished my cold breakfast. I was with a group and didn't want to make a fuss in front of friends.
Rebecca.dawson23
Good coffee!. Coffee was great but service needs improvement. I was asked the same question five times by five different people. They should communicate with each other!

Was a disappointing experience, we enjoyed the bread and dips but mainly the middle dip a generous 7/10, the noodles were horrible I don't even know why they were on the menu tbh service was lousy and only the manager was nice, our goddamn sticky date pudding was forgotten, but the sticky date pudding itself was delicious = 9/10<br/>nice interior but needs to pick up game

Public holiday outing. Had been waiting a while to get the chance to visit and took the opportunity on a very rare day off. Was mightily impressed with the decor, very clean and beautiful, so not sure what everyone is complaining about the decor in these other comments. Food definitely impressed. Had been following them on Instagram for a while and couldn't wait to sink my teeth into the southern Belle fried chicken burger with chips. I didn't care who was watching, the burger got better with every bite. Girlfriend got the Salmon omelette which was a little plain but was a great portion size for the price and tasted really fresh. I will however say that our waitress wasn't very friendly and have been told by friends that they had also experienced the same thing in previous visits, however the woman behind the counter taking payment was very friendly. Will definitely visit again if I get the chance.

Bad attitude barista. Was totally disgusted by the short angry barista girl. A group of 11 girls went for 3 friends birthday lunch today & looking back we should of walked straight out ! The girl was extremely rude . We asked for an extra seat & we were told we could get an extra seat as long as we were ALL ordering lunch . Firstly , she had no right to say that to us , that's what we were there for genius ! Secondly the tone in which she spoke to my friend who had arranged the table was appalling . She then went behind the coffee machine & was sniggering to the other staff & then continued to give our table bad looks mixed with smirks ... Grow up child ! We will never return & will make sure we tell everyone not to bother. Btw : food was overrated ! Word of advise to the owners : that girl will destroy your business !

Disappointing. You walk into a very white room more suited to flowery high teas. Thought to give it a try. While we received water, no one came to order or drinks or bring us a menu. I grabbed one myself and found the menu uninspiring and expensive. Still after 5 minutes no service, so got up and left

Stepping into Now & Then is like stepping into a beach holiday in the Hamptons (not that I’ve been but that’s definitely the vibe I got!). It has big airy and bright spaces, and the decor really puts you in a relaxed mood.<br/><br/>Popped in for lunch during the work week (a rarity!) and to make sure I didn’t get the post-lunch sleepies at my desk, I got myself a salad...

Blown Away! Best Rib Eye Steak in Melbourne!. Right from the moment we walked through the door we were blown away! I cannot fault this place. <br/><br/>Whether you are there for breakfast or there for lunch the food is reliably good, inexpensive and the place is always buzzing with people. <br/><br/>Exquisitely furnished, Sensational food, knowledgeable and friendly staff who obviously love their work, relaxed yet sophisticated atmosphere and an amazing wine list!<br/><br/>I think this is my new favourite place for breakfast but it’s the lunch the really blew us away. <br/><br/>I ordered the Rib Eye Fillet steak with a side of chips and an avocado salad, all for $29.00. You’d be hard pressed to find a cheaper steak of this quality in Melbourne. The cut of meat tasted of absolute premium quality and was cooked to perfection. As a very “rare” man it was a pleasure to have ordered “medium rare” and to have actually had it cooked to a juicy “medium rare” and not completely scorched until it was an unrecognizable piece of burnt flesh you would receive at most pubs or a lesser restaurant. The whole lunch menu looks outstanding but I just cannot bring myself to pass on the Rib Eye Fillet steak at that price.<br/><br/>The only negative is that on occasions people are prepared to line up for an eternity to get in to this place – but trust me it’s worth the wait.... Plus you can always book ahead!

Very enjoyable.. After reading a few of the reviews here I was a little hesitant about going but none the less went for breakfast on a Sunday morning. Must say the service was all good and with a smiles. Food was great and reasonably priced and nice modern setting. Can't understand the negative reviews. Would definitely go back.

In a word, horrific!. Waited 50 minutes after ordering to have the waiter come and check what we ordered. We were just about to walk off when our food arrived. Too bad the toast tasted like burnt cardboard and I couldn't even saw through it. Coffees were ok. Staff were apologetic, offered explanations and complimentary coffees but I won't be going back.

OK - nothing special though. Had heard good things from friends but a bit overrated. It's ok

Great food, terrific service and lovely surroundings. Had a birthday breakfast celebration at this venue recently (for 6) and was so impressed with the efficiency and friendliness of the staff as well as the terrific food. Beautiful way to start the day when staff actually smile at you and look as though they are happy to be of service. They were attentive without being intrusive.<br/>The food was most delicious and ambiance was beautiful. We were so impressed that we booked our Christmas get-together here. Can highly recommend this cafe and looking forward to coming back.

Bern. After hearing an excellent review on 3AW I went with friends for lunch today.<br/>We all agreed the meals were terrific, the décor fantastic and staff very attentive.<br/>Will definitely go again.

What a bright and welcoming cafe! First time visiting, definitely won't be my last. Their specialty coffee is one of a kind and their sandwiches are so well priced. Great atmosphere, will most certainly be back!

I found their smashed Avo option (smash the day) to be lacking in flavour. Seriously should look into new plates too, stick with your blue theme for the plates and changes the glasses from the child like blue bubbles.

Helpful waitstaff. We were only able to have a quick lunch as my partner had a meeting to get to and we saw they were quite busy so we were unsure if we could eat there. When I mentioned it to the waiter he spoke to the chefs and bumped us up so that we could be in and out as quickly as we needed. Our food and drinks were out to us in record time and it was really appreciated. I will say though that the pulled pork was a little too sweet for me but I enjoyed their club sandwich and their serving sizes were very large. Overall it was a good experience.

The place is nice, but they think they're better than they are. their food is overpriced, they claim that it's healthy, but my salad was greasy, the breakfast I had there was ok, but for $20 it didn't stand out. It's snobby, not that friendly, and to top it off the manager was completely rude to some customers right in front of the whole restaurant. I'll be looking for another 'local'. This one's not worth it.

Shouldn't a Cafe serve food??????. We had high hopes after making a phone booking, we arrived to a friendly waitress who seated us, we quickly ordered drinks and food. (3* milkshakes, 1 * tea, 2 * scrambled eggs on toast, 1 * fish and chips, 1 * burger)<br/>Then.........We waited, and waited, and waited!! We watched tables who arrived WELL after us be served their food. After 50 minutes we asked how much longer it would be and was told they were busy and that one of the chef's didn't show up. The woman then disappeared for a further 10 minutes to come back and advise that it wouldn't be much longer? A further 10 minutes, enough was enough and we got up to leave. When leaving we advised the woman who then went to the front desk to say where we had been sitting to the man behind the register who then asked what did we have!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!<br/>Tip No 1 - If a staff member doesn't arrive for their shift, have a back up plan<br/>Tip No 2 - If no back up plan advise customers before seating them that there is an hour wait on food<br/>Tip No 3 - Ensure if the customer orders food, you deliver the food.

About time we got something great in Kew. What a little find this place was. I suspect fairly new this place seems to have it all. Great décor and service and the food was delicious and quick. Perfectly priced for office groups and the service quick enough for us all to get in and out within a lunch break. Went back with my partner and still impressed. My partner had the big boy and I had the fish taco. Great flavours and wine list. Keep doing what you are doing - we will all be back<br/><br/>Takeaway salad today which was so awesome I was actually really sad when I got to the bottom..

It's not awful but.... Now & Then is a really lovely spot. The interior design and styling is spot on and the menu looks good. We were greeted by a lovely enthusiastic server who seated us and that's where it ended. The waitress we got was just blah. We were seated outside and watched a family stand and wait to be seated for so long they walked out. We could clearly see three people standing behind the counter doing very little. <br/><br/>Everyone seemed to be ordering the hamburger on the brioche roll and I guess we made a mistake by not. I ordered the chess and herb toast with poached eggs and bacon. My friend ordered the smoked salmon salad. <br/><br/>My eggs were poached fantastically and the bacon was crispy without being oily. The cheesy bread was another story. I assumed (my fault) that it would be a loaf infused with cheese and herbs and then toasted (much like a cheese and herb loaf from a bakery) but it was essentially grilled cheese on toast with the entire contents of dried mixed herbs dumped on top. <br/><br/>My friend enjoyed her salad but found it was mostly baby spinach leaves. <br/><br/>I didn't hate the place, but it wasn't that great.

Best Cafe!. I've eaten at Now & Then a few times and the food is always delicious and fast, and the service is terrific! Would highly recommend for all your brunch needs and be sure to save room for a cookie, they're to die for!

Amazing food staff and atmosphere!! Would highly recommend and will definetley be going back soon!

Exceptional!. Had lunch at Now & Then Cafe today and was absolutely blown away by the beautiful renovations - not to mention fantastic service and delicious food. Will definitely be going back!

Great service and amazing food. The service was great, our waiter was knowledgable even when it came to the furnishing of the cafe. The food was out quickly and tasted top notch. Will definitely be returning.

First time eating breakfast here and am confused as to the vibe they are attempting to achieve. The menu offers a good variety of breads to choose from but make up your mind as to whether you are serving two or three pieces of bread as I received two and my breakfast partner got three. She ordered a side of avocado (about a 1/4 of an avo) for $4. Considering a whole one is $3 at the moment that's a bit steep. This is not a place I and my breakfast party will come back to. Very disappointing.

Went to this cafe for brunch this morning and was very impressed. Our waitress was lovely and very attentive, coffee was excellent and the food was delicious. My girlfriend had the breakfast burger and I opted for the pancakes. Will definitely be returning to sample more of the menu!

Great spot. Checked this place out using a Scoopon on Sunday for lunch, and was impressed by the quality of the coffee and food.<br/><br/>The service was a bit mixed. Our server got top scores. She was incredibly friendly, attentive and welcoming. Some of the other staff on the floor though seemed to wander around aimlessly and lifeless though. But top marks to our girl - shame we didn't get her name.<br/><br/>We both had the eye fillet which was cooked to perfection, deliciously tender, and seasoned beautifully. I reckon we'll be back!
A Chronicle Of Gastronomy
Under new owners, the former Fred Young of Kew has recently been renovated and transformed into Now & Then Café. Robert Castellani has also taken over as head chef. We picked three dishes from the lunch menu, though in addition to the main menu they have a selection of salads, pastries and sweets in a cabinet. They appeared slightly understaffed; the main waiter seemed to be run off his feet. The Cabo Tacos were corn tacos filled with baja snapper, avocado, sweet coleslaw and mayo ($17). They were quite full when folded over so A2 had a bit of trouble eating it neatly. She said they weren’t bad, though would have liked it if the tacos were a bit more browned. Also ordered was the housemade chicken pie with mushrooms with rustic homemade chips ($20). It was the type of pie that didn’t have a bottom crust and the top crust was thin and very crispy. I didn’t try any, but the filling was described was quite soupy and could have perhaps done with a bit more flavour. I picked ‘western distri
