Beautiful dinner tonight at one of the hidden gems in melbourne. Authentic asian food served with a smile. Great food, great wine, great service. The team here were amazing and produced great food. Well done! Will definitely be back again. They have a secret wine menu

Always have our birthday dinner there with family. If you are looking for thr authenrtic Chinese (Cantonese) food. This is the place you looking for. It is getting harder to find those "KungFu" dishes nowaday because the complicated steps and preperation process. Thus, most of the restaurant out there are making simple easy dishes. Must pay a visit and try something you never order before! 😊

An outstanding Cantonese restaurants in Eastern part of Melbourne. Friendly staff, they were attentive and not pushy at all. The place has a fairly high ceiling so they have installed many lanterns in different size and shape. Great to educate the kids about the Chinese culture while waiting for our yummy foods. The selections on their lunch menu were amazing and highly recommended to try (this ain’t your average lemon chicken rice you see everywhere). The only downside is that the menu was written in Chinese but I’m sure they could translate for those who can’t read. We had dined at the restaurant a few time recently and we had positive experiences with their quality Cantonese foods. Special highlight has to be their seasonal offering Mango Pomelo Sago Pudding (楊枝甘露) -A must try in summer! Other highlights include fried ginger spring onion lobster with egg noodle and the deep fried eggplants with stuffed fish paste. Obviously, lobster pieces taste fresh and juicy, but the best part was the egg noodle which it was the best I ever had in Melbourne. I reckon the noodle was soak in lobster broth for extra flavour. Will definitely be back for more and continue support local businesses during such tough time.

Good Authentic Cantonese cuisine but you pay dearly for the privilege. MOST IMPORTANTLY, have a good idea how much your meal will cost or you may find that you are either being double charged or, hit with high price for dishes off the menu but recommended by waiter. Caveat Emptor

If Dr Gregory House was a restaurant this would be it. They know their food is good enough to get you to come back and they'll give you generous side dish of attitude. You know you're in a little slice of Hong Kong when the manager starts cussing you out in Cantonese to his staff because you don't look like you understand what he's saying. The food is really good though.

顶上is an excellent Chinese restaurant in Melbourne! Recently I invited my family of 8 to dinner here and we're most impressed with the quality of the food(incl the vege they use in the dish配菜) and the chef's cooking skills. eg their Sour and sweet pork 咕咾肉is the best in all restaurants. We'll come back again soon.

The best Chinese Restaurant in Melbourne: friendly hosts, good services, reasonable pricing and dining room has a very high ceiling. Highly recommended!

One of my favourite Chinese restaurant in this area. Very small place but good for dinner and lunch. A bit disappoint for potato rice noodle with prawn. Seafood is good and fresh. Overall is good, we would love to go back again.

Jade Kew serves up good quality Chinese food with authentic flavours. Staff are very courteous and service is good. The food is tasty and beautifully presented. They have an adequate range of deep fried delights, seafood sensations and delicious desserts. The banana fritters adorned with shards of toffee were a sight to behold!
3.5/5 we come here for dinner on a Wednesday night, it was busy with large groups sharing meals and making use of the lazy Suzanne. We had the Singapore noodles, garlic broccoli & honey chicken. The Singapore noodles were ok but lacked flavour maybe we needed chilli at our tables. The garlic broccoli was good and a great serve. The honey chicken was good and it was great to see they use skinless chicken breast. After our mains staff gave us free fruit salad which was a refreshing ending to our meal. Staff were lovely and very friendly.

The service is really bad especially when you go there just by yourself. The food is ok though, and usually come in large portion. The price is reasonable.

It's a really nice restaurant. The place is classy and the food certainly delivers, the manager is constantly running around and he is very nice. So the service is good but don't expect fancy food, this is a classic Chinese restaurant all about flavour.

Not the best Chinese food and service but i would only go if you have no other choice around the suburbs. Don’t order the Peking duck it is not worth the money.
Big Eyes For A Big Tummy
Melbourne doesn't have many consistent good Cantonese family restaurants (and clean without going to the extreme pricey end). Although pricing is a little higher than some other average non-fine dining Chinese restaurant, the dishes (we think!) are general larger and food is good. Service also ok compared with most (some staff better than others). And you know it's good and authentic when it's packed with Chinese people! They do the steamed fish really well. Start off with complimentary yummy soup and end with fresh fruit platter. We prefer coming here for lunch as it's really good value and their lunch specials we find are more delicious than the a la carte dinner menu - plus it reminds us of being back in Hong Kong 😋

The food was good however Service was really bad. We had some seafood which taste really nice. But the waiter throwed the bowl and dishes just in front of me. And it made me felt really bad at all.

I love this restaurant!! All the dishes we tried were so good, especially the salted chicken with the ginger sauce. The fish was cooked perfectly, and the rice was steaming hot and fresh, just how it's supposed to be. Staff were so friendly and extremely efficient! Ambience was good, and the small details like the lanterns really lit up the place. I have been here a few times and I'll definitely be back again!

Had $75.00 worth of takeaway on 10/9/2017 and was very disappointed, the satay beef was particularly awful and the satay sauce tasted like it was out of a jar. While the new owners are more friendly and polite than the previous owners, the food was not up to the usually good standard that we have come to expect from Jade. We will not return to this restaurant, because the food we had was of poor quality, had a terrible taste, and was overpriced, in fact most of it was thrown in the rubbish bin. I was telling a friend today, and she had had a similar experience, so that's two long time customers who will not be returning to Jade!

Beautiful and comfortable ambience , perfect for family dinners. Service is quick and prompt and low waiting time for dishes to arrive. Cantonese style dishes which were yummy and served in reasonable portions with complimentary soup and fruits. Really enjoyed our dining experience and will return :)

Have come here a couple times for chinese new year and the food is quite good. Fish was really nice as well as solid other dishes. Price may deter me from coming back for non-special occasions though.

This is a good restaurant to impress someone with. Be they your first date. Potential boss etc.
The setup is fine For Chinese dining and the service is unusually ok. Much better than other Chinese restaurants.

The food is acceptable since other Chinese establishment tend to be below par. Presentation is nice. Size is adequate and taste is fair and therefore acceptable.

The price however is on the very high side. As my family said. Food is ok but we can get the same food much cheaper elsewhere

Tonight is my niece birthday. What the heck!

2018 April 1
April’s fool? The serve size is now smaller than average. For the price on the menu it is not worth it. I hope it is really a joke.

I have been coming to this place for years for take away. The food is fresh and of high quality. Fried rice is perfect and not overly oily which is what I've found at other places. Will continue to go back to this hidden gem in Kew.

Food was nice. But I think there were too many waiters. Food prepared in time. Fresh and warm. People were nice and polite. Everyone liked soup.

Great food, excellent service and reasonably priced will definitely be back.
A great place to bring family and happy to provide doggy bag for what can't be got thru
Had dinner with our friends. Decent food. The restaurant lives up to its reputation. I especially liked lobster with noodle which is my wife's favorite. I'll return.

We happened to enter the restaurant quite late Sunday night, and we're all surprised by the decent food that they served. It was not just Cantonese food but all with creative idea of the chef. We had eel peels and oyster hot pot as well as special fired rice. Everything was awesome.
Goji
I like this beautiful dish with beef, pak choy and egg noodles. The taste was great, the beef was tender. You have to scoop out the noodles with both folk and spoon as they lump together. It's a good dish to practice your chopsticks skill.

It's a good place to dine when you can't think what to eat. Visit here once a week at least with ordering the exactly the same dishes. Staffs are friendly and service is attentive

Lazy service, average food, and a manager who just couldn't be bothered making an effort.

We booked this restaurant because they promised a private area for a family function. On arrival, they had other tables set up in the area promised to us. The manager said the tables would only be used if they ran out of space downstairs, but minutes later he seated guests in our area with plenty of space still remaining in their downstairs section. The manager also refused to use the moveable partitions to section off an area for us. He was dishonest, simple as that - he promised something he had no intention of delivering, and when called on it he made no effort to make good.

During our lunch we played a video for our guests, yet the service staff constantly walked in front of the screen and made a lot of noise clearing plates and glass from other guests.
Disrespectful service.

The food was decidedly average. Here's a hint Jade Kew... the crispy chicken should be CRISPY .

Suggest you eat elsewhere. You'll pay no more, have a better experience, and will not need to deal with a manager who regards his patrons as an inconvenience.

Modern and clean-looking Chinese restaurant. The service was okay but the staff could be friendlier. Food arrived quickly and was delicious and authentic Cantonese. They were very well presented but portions sizes could be a tad larger. There were some great additions to dishes, like crispy kale under the prawns. We appreciated the generous complimentary fruit at the end.

Serving was pretty bad. Food were all below average. We have our first dish 30mins after we finished entree. And another 30 mins for second dish. We've already asked them all dishes can be served together and they knew it. Will never go back here again, never.

Not a bad place for Cantonese styled cuisine. Service are average at times. Decent ambience. Tastes : not too bad. Portion : decent. Price: okay

Very well done Cantonese cuisine. Seafood cooked to perfection and not over powered by strong flavouring. Lunch specials are also very affordable and menu changes regularly. Lunch specials are very different from other restaurants. Not cheap but excellent serve with delicate tastes

This is a photoview post (contains mostly photos only).
Verdict: The standard order for my family's once-a-year reunion dinner at Jade Kew.

Service was friendly and quick, food was delicious and authentic. My guest loved it (and he's picky!). Definitely coming back!

Yum. I eat her regularly with my Dad. We always order the Imperial Beef as it is awesome! Only complaint is that it is a little bit expensive but it is good quality Chinese food no doubt.

Their take away menu is different price with eat in menu, but they will charge same price with eat in if you don't ask for it.

Exquisite Chinese Restaurant in Melbourne. I and my family went there last week. They offer a wide range of fantastic, delicious looking and extraordinary Chinese Food. Plus their service can consider the best among all other restaurants in Kew.The price is reasonable too. Definitely will pay a visit again next time:)

Inedible Take AwayFood. I ordered take away from Jade earlier tonight and it was of such an appalling standard that I have to post a comment. The Dim Sims were raw inside. The crispy beef with Imperial sauce can only be described as mush, and it felt like eating worms. The chicken with cashew that I thought I ordered came without cashews, and vegetables instead. The quality of the chicken cuts was very below average, and the whole dish was slimy. 90% of the food went to the rubbish bin. The only edible parts were the spring rolls which were crisp and tasty, and the rice. Such a pity, as I had read reviews suggesting that Jade was a good option to others in the area (San Choi in particular, which has gone downhill in recent times). Unfortunately, if we want good Chinese we need to go to Victoria Street. Maybe Jade is better eating in, rather than take-away.

I go here especially for the soft shell crab - it is delicious and very addictive. Also tried lettuce delight, peking duck, singapore noodles and a prawn dish and all the times I have been there it was delicious. The service is excellent - staff are always at your service.

Simon. The staff in the new Jade Kew resemble the team which had ran the San Choi restaurant really well nearby at High St for many years. They transformed Jade Kew into a great seafood restaurant with much more choices on the menu and gave the interior a modern look. Our family love it and we dine there every week and would regularly bump into other familiar locals too. The fresh seafood available are hard to find in other local chinese restaurants in Kew/Hawthorn area. Other dishes are also excellent, apart from Wagyu beef which is one isolated letdown. The staff really treat you as good friends which is a big plus. Highly recommended.

Owners and staff are fantastic and very friendly.
Peking duck pancakes the best! King prawns and Szechuan beef amazing! Beautiful restuarant to sit and relax in.

Excellent service and food. Was very happy with my experience, had a lovely waitress who was genuinely interested in whether we had enjoyed our experience or not, loved it 10/10

The Jade Kew restaurant is fantastic, hands down the best Chinese restaurant I have ever been to and reasonably priced too! Fantastic service and incredibly tasting fresh food. My boyfriend and I will definitely be going back! Do not let the other reviews deter you - Jade Kew is amazing.

We had been going to the old Jade for the last 20 years, it was always so welcoming and the service was always sensational! It was our fav local restaurant. Well times have now changed. The new Jade's service is very ordinary, the food bland and average and b. expensive!! We have given it 3 chances and now time for us to find a new favourite local. Will
Not go back. Ever!!!
Mowie
Old Jade was fantastic with the same people running it for 25 years. The new Jade is awful. Outrageously expensive and very bland and tasteless food. Too much duck tongue! Not enough tasty plates. We won't be going back. Shame.
Chopster
Jade Kew - aweful. Bland food, too long a wait between courses. Eventually lef as desert was taking an eternity. Won't go back

New Look,. I went there today, and the old Jade Kew had changed their look. many lights and bright windows. looks good, and the food is good too. will come again.
Sus
The best shark fin soup in Melbourne.
Pingsterw
Food is so-so, but definitely overpriced. The wait between dishes is also too long. I find the dishes too salty to my liking.
Frankie
Fancy. It is a very nice fancy restaurant I esspesically enjoyed the fried rice. The staff are very nice and are happy to help you in anyway possible.
Al' The Picky EAter
The excess extravagance of shark fin at Jade Kew. all time favourite in Melbourne for special occasions
