A very convenient little Thai restaurant, good service and food.

An excellent Thai restaurant that's full of ambience and charm. The dinner meal we had was superb - every single dish. We had entrees of fish cake, spring rolls and Crunchy (Money) bags. The main dishes comprised crispy pork, roast duck curry, and a Pad Himapan vegetable dish. Steamed rice of course. Excellent, as was the friendly welcoming service. The bill for the 4 of us was $105 - great value.

Great food and even better service! Our first time eating at Thai Terrace, certainly not the last!! We left with huge smiles on our faces thanks to the amazing service provided by the staff and the delicious meal we shared! Thanks team, see you again soon!

Great food at reasonable prices and very friendly to customers. Enjoyed with others who were not previously fans of Thai cuisine. We will all be back and would recommend Thai Terrace Justin O'Halloran 🤓

My parents who were visiting from overseas invited us to this place for their anniversary. They both ordered fish after they were reassured that it would be crispy. As Inapproaches the staff to complain my mom's fish was raw and smelled ocean, we faced so much resistance as my mother had tried to be polite and had eaten part of her food. It didn't take me anywhere talking to them telling them my dad's fish was well prepared while my mom's tasted different and smelled. I suggested they offer my mother another meal but I was told she had already touched her food. the trick about place is the owner is the chef! so no point giving feedback about the food to the owner.

THAI ME UP AND CALL ME BOBBY I've been eyeing off Thai Terrace for a little while as it is a cute local spot, Entering you are greeted by a tasteful decor and good atmosphere, the staff were excellent and understood my quips. the fish meal wasn't fantastic, but the roast duck curry was! meals came out quick. $6 each for corkage was slight robbery. cheers

One of the best Thai places in Melbourne by far, service, venue and especially the food. Red barramundi curry is to die for !! Thank you

Great food and wonderful service! Thanks Thai Terrace

This restaurant is just down the road, walking distance. Really good food and service. Lots of people there for eat-in and take away on a Thursday night. a Must try spot and you will return like we will.

Pla sam rod - An absolute explosion of flavour! Loved it and would definitely order again. Best thai takeaway I've had in a long time 🙌

Thai Terrence is one of my favourite Thai Restaurant. My favourite meal to have at Thai Terrence is the Massaman curry. It is a great place to go if you like Thai.
Foood4Dayzzz
I just love this Thai restaurant and it has one of the best Massaman curries going around. It's just a lovely, well-owned takeaway/eat in restaurant. Recommend it to anyone who likes Thai.

I ordered Thai Beef Fried Rice , Satay and Pad Thai Beef delivery. Overall Food were so so not authentic Thai Cuisines. Not fantastic
Thanks
Allan
Was a bit hesitant to try given some of the past reviews, but the food is lovely, service is fantastic, the waiters are very friendly. The spring rolls are fantastic, tom yum is very nice - I like mine really spicy, this one is not that spicy but very tasty and fragrant. You can get fresh chilli or chilli oil on the side if you want to spice it up. Yum!! Pad Thai was delicious, very tasty, perhaps not quite as much lime as I like. Thai salad very nice as well. My partner had the massamum chicken curry, loved it. Good prices, great atmosphere. As a vegetarian it is often hard to find restaurants with a variety of things to eat, this has heaps of options for vego's as well as meat eaters. Will definitely go back here. I know they changed hands not too long ago, well worth trying now.

Overall experience - low.
Quality/Taste - very average - not horrible or anything but wouldn't be a recommendation to friends.
Value - low, curries were mostly sauce and had little content (meat or veg).
Delivery - fine (would hope so as I only live 3 streets away!).
Ordered delivery via Menulog on a Friday evening.
Not sure why the ratings on menulog seemed to suggest a great experience. - hence I was quite let down.

Ordered the Red Duck Curry and Penang Beef curry.

They both looked and tasted like they were the same base but with the sweeter addition of lychees & pineapple in the duck curry (which certainly wasn't red!)

Little spice or heat.
No real Thai twang.

Bottom line: Won't be back
.

Ordered take away here for the first time since moving to Kew. We ordered the Massman Curry & as soon as we had eaten the meal we did not feel well. 3 hours later myself & my husband were violently ill. We will never eat here again.

Lovely staff but food is average and perhaps a little expensive. The pictured menu is an old menu with much cheaper prices.
Veggie pad Thai good; spring rolls ok; beef pad Thai lacks veg

Extremely disappointed. Ordered a ‘main’ size beef salad for $16 take away and when I arrived home, I opened the bag to see half a small container of salad. When I called to question whether I had mistakingly been given an entree, I was told that no, that was the main size. Extremely poor value for money and will not be returning.

We had dinner here on a weeknight and the place was buzzing. The staff were friendly and the menu had lots of great options. We ordered a Red duck curry (highly recommend this dish), Pad Thai and Stir Fry pork. We also had ordered a banana fritter and banana samosa! Both came out quickly and tasted great! Their dessert menu is one of the nicer menu's I have seen in a Thai restaurant! Overall a great place for Thai in Kew!

Thai Terrace is undoubtedly the best Thai food in Melbourne!! My husband and I have been coming here for nearly a decade and are so impressed by the consistency and deliciousness of the food, every time!! The red duck curry and roti are our favourite and no other restaurant can compare! The atmosphere is warm and cosy and the service is always friendly and efficient. The owners are delightful and we still consider this our "local" Thai restaurant even though we've moved out of area, it's well worth the drive.

Rejuvenation needed ......

Location is not the greatest, but it's becoming an epicentre of good food in Kew. Quite spacious restaurant too, easy, simple and unpretentious Menu.

VERY well priced, apart from its Soup range, my favourite Tom Yum Goong is small at $8.50.

Kew needs a good Thai option for dinner, this place used to do just that as they are closed for lunch.

Trust they can bounce back.

My partner and I come here every few weeks and we love it! Food is amazing each time, we've also recommended it to friends who say they've loved it. Will come here as the local Thai place for a long time! Great food and great service!
Amy
Biggest negative: long dark hair in 1 dish. Good flavour but the Pad Sew Ewe for take away was only about half full and the remaining stir fry and rice dishes were only about two thirds full. Very small servings when you consider how other Thai restaurants fill their take away dishes as much as possible and thst you'd get about double the serving if you ate in store. Disappointing.

Staff is lovely, ambience is great, suit family, couple, friends but don't expect much for food.

Ordered the following and was sorely disappointed with the lack of flavour and Thai punch:
Tom yum soup - serving was small, full of spice can't taste any spiciness
Fried fish with ginger and shallots - fish was over cook and lost its crispness
Roast duck curry - the only dish that perhaps made the mark. On the creamy and sweet side
Coconut rice - nicely made
Thai tea panna cotta - texture was too hard, either not fresh or not made correctly

All in all, fantastic service but not a place to go if you are looking for real Thai food.

So I have been undecided about writing this review. I went there a couple of months ago and never have gone back. However prior to this, I loved this place. It's local and tucked away from the main bustle of High Street in Kew. I regularly ate in and had take away.

The night of never return I went with 3 other friends. We all ordered a couple of dishes. I had the pumpkin chicken curry. It's so delicious. One of my favourites. I ordered a side of vegetables too, however I wish I didn't. It was basically a pile of capsicum with some brown lettuce underneath; clearly far from fresh.
After dinner a couple of my mates shared a banana fritter. I'm not a banana fritter expert, but it was a really overripe banana. Again, I questioned the freshness of the food. It also didn't help that the batter had a couple of green flecks in it. Stray chopped parsley? Washing sponge? It was hard to tell. Either way, it added to my paranoia of the hygiene of the kitchen. The only thing that added a bit of humour to this disaster was that the banana fritter was plated in a very phallic way. Two scoops of ice cream & a big banana fritter. Surely they can serve this to not look like genitals!? We had a good laugh.

Looking around the decor of the place is nice. Could do with an update. There was a huge spider web under one of the chairs. Hate to know what made it. And two of my friends were arguing whether the thing they saw run across the corner of room was a huge cockroach or a small mouse.

That being said, the reason why I was hesitant to review is because I was so disappointed. The staff are lovely and accommodating. All the main dishes I had in the past were tasty and reasonably priced. I've never been sick from eating here but after that dinner, I'm not rolling the dice again.

Iv'e been eating here for nearly 20 years and can never fault this place, Thai Terrace is my local, the food is tasty, clean and fresh. My favourite dishes are Thai beef salad, sizzling seafood hotplate and all their curries. The staff are friendly and the owners are really good people. It's quite intimate and it's easy to hear all your dinner friends.

This is my local Thai take away . Always fresh , hot and delicious . Curries are lovely and not too spicy love the fresh nan bread and peanut sauce . Have recently eaten in again and although the price is a little more pricy to eat it it has a nice atmosphere
And the ladies working there are very polite and friendly . I really like the girls when I come pick up my take away too they are always smiling and seem happy.
Tonight I had the crispy pork with crispy basil and chilli , fabulous perfect amount of heat . Pad Thai was a real hit too. Never tried the Thai pudding , really delicious and perfect to share and one serve comes with two little puddings with ice cream . I've never had a bad meal from here . Very happy customer and thrilled I live so close .keep up the good work Thai terrace = my local :)

This is our second visit to Thai Terrace, and I know there will be many more. Greeted by friendly staff, Nicki I think her name is, quickly showed us to our table and handed us menus. (While we were still deciding what to get, I noticed she was having nice casual chats with her regular customers. It's small gestures like this that keep bringing the customers back. Friendly and cosy amotsphere.)
We ordered crunchy bags, marinated grilled chicken and fried fish with basil & chilli, finished off with coconut pudding and coconut ice cream. Crunchy bags were a little smaller than I thought but it tasted good, they are not overcooked and not oily too. Fish was cooked well, meat was still soft, love the sauce too! Marinated chicken was so tender! Didn't get to try the pudding cos C didn't share, but that's okay because the coconut ice cream was the bomb! You can still taste the coconut bits in the icecream. It's also not too sweet, perfect balance. Would have to try their mango ice cream next time we visit :)

When I feel Thai, I always think of Thai terrace. This restaurant is a local favourite, with a large list of regular clientele (me included!). The food has been consistently delicious over the many years my family, friends and I have dined here. You will be greeted at the restaurant with friendly Thai girls who aim for customer satisfaction and are not afraid to smile. Make sure to make a booking for larger parties, as the restaurant is not that big and tables must be moved to cater appropriately. Walk-in dines are welcome and you will never be met with a longer wait than 10 minutes. The restaurant carries a cosy style, with front row seats available next to a natural wood fire. The curries are amazing; so delicious you could just eat that alone with rice. Stirfrys are equally scrumptious with the perfect combination of fresh ingredients. Being vegetarian, it is very inviting when every dish has the option of including tofu. Only negative I can think of is the reduction in dish size over the years. Dining here can be expensive, however easily remedied by taking away and cooking your own rice. They also do free home deliveries in the surrounding suburbs on orders over 30$ (?). Overall, the best Thai food I have had the honour in demolishing!!

Thai Terrace, located in the small shopping village at the Earl St end of Pakingham St in Kew appears to have had a recent refurbishment, and has not only retained it's customers but added to its clientele. The warm exotic browns decorating their interior dining area signalled the equatorial tropics and the piquant smells that envelope you upon entry made your tastebuds salivate in anticipation of dishes to enjoy. The staff were...

Friendly staf, tasty roti and delish curries... fish was AWFUL.. I have been here about 3 or 4 times because we live close by.

The staff are friendly, the decor is a bit under (but they have made an effort to improve it recently but it is still not quite tere), the prices are reasonable. The roti and curries are nice however I also recently ordered the fish in chilli garlic sauce and it was awful. Seriously a 1/10. Dry and rubbery (surely not microwaved I hope) with no taste. It has really turned me off the place. They also need new cds... they have played the same cd every time I am there and it is a bad cover cd!

Did we except too much?. Quite disappointed by our first visit to this Thai restaurant. The decor is great, though it looks a little more likely a funky cafe than a Thai restaurant! Was very busy so I was willing to give the wait staff a break as they were clearly over worked and struggling to keep up with the demands from patrons - with many having to get up from their table to check to see where their food/drinks were. But service aside, the food was just very average. Meats were dry and sauces too oily. If we go back it will only be because the other Thai places in our area can't fit us in!

Hardik Patel. Food was awesome, and service is excellent. Real Thai taste. They made our day.

Poor communication, small meals. I Ordered take away which came to close to $20 and asked if we could pay on card. Was told the min eftpos was $15, however when we got there they said no to our eftpos payment with no explanation as to why. Even after I reminded her that I had asked on the phone, all she could offer was "sorry no". The mains are small. Food was OK. Wont be back.

Good food, Better than most ambiance, Bad ass attitude from waitress. Whilst the food was very good, the service was below average at best. Looks like the waitress was having a bad day, but I wasn't paying through my pocket to get attitude with my food.

I called in before hand to ensure we would have a table for the two of us for dinner and also let the lady taking the call (I presume the waitress doubling up), that I had a entertainment book coupon. I was told it shouldn't be a problem.

We arrived in time and were seated and placed our orders or some entrees and soup (Veggos beware slim pickings in entrees here), the soup serving size left much to be desired for the price we were paying. When I asked for some more sweet chilli sauce for the entrees, the waitress left in a huff and brought it for us with a bad ass expression on her face. I let it slide giving her the benefit of doubt of a long hard day at work (we've all been there sometime). We ordered the mains and I asked for some fresh chopped chilli and soy sauce and again got the death stare. No words exchanged but the same lame attitude. After we finished up the sumptuous dinner and paid for it, the waitress didn't even bother to smile and say thank you or good night. Not that I was hoping for one, but such simple small things go a long way for repeat business.

Somehow, I was left with a bad aftertaste of having copped it because I was using a 25% off coupon from the entertainment book. Would I go back there? At full price perhaps maybe. At full price + the attitude = Definitely not.

This restaurant is the BEST! The food is high quality, authentic, delicious and well priced. The staff are lovely, caring and warm. I am from interstate and will return! Yum yum yum...

Very simple - delicious food, friendly staff, quick takeaway. What more could you want?

Ordered take away food here for the first time. Food was prepared quickly and was good service. However, food needs more work. Tom yum soup was like a tomato soup, had no kick. Tom kha soup was even worse. It was just a warm bowl of coconut water. Beef salad wasn't too bad, so I'm willing to give it an another go. I will stay away from their soups though.

Yum!. This is my local Thai, and I absolutely love it. I've never had a bad experience, the food is always delicious, and the staff are lovely.

Had our meal delivered this evening. Timing was prompt and food was steaming hot. Mussamun beef curry was a little sweet but not fatty. The Pad Takai (chicken and lemongrass stir fry) had fresh and authentic flavours and the Nam Zod was my Mothers favourite! Have eaten too many oily and fatty Thai foods in the past and so happy to have found this little gem. Thank you Thai Terrace, we will definitely be back again!! PS the 12 year old loved the prawn crackers ;)
Josh
We were off to get takeaway. But decided to eat in. It was cheap to takeaway but eating in was about 35% more expencive. We were greeted warmly. Service was just fantastic and food was that of the streets of Thailand. Just amazing. We will be back!

Decent Thai Food. After ordering a couple of drinks and chatting to the friendly staff we started on our entrees of curry puffs and spring rolls. After the first bite, the curry puffs were still frozen on the inside. The staff were very humble and helpful and quickly knocked up some more for us that were perfect. Mains were delish and well priced. Decor is homely and peaceful. Several vegetarian options that were great too!

Great food, lovely service, well priced and comfortable not to mention local. Will come here time and time again.

I'll go there again. Cute, quiet and the food was excellent.

Flavoursome dishes and good service.. Very nice ambience with lots of timber, red brick and high ceilings. The masamun curry with beef, and chicken stir fry with crispy vegetables both tasty.

My only complaint would be the beef was a little tough, but the flavours of both dishes were great. Very sweet and attentive waitress also.

Dessert was also good, sweet coconut tarts and ice cream. Would return.

Excellent local. Great for a small dinner in the front or the room at the rear for bigger gatherings. Food is excellent, price is reasonable and atmosphere very relaxing.

Love this resturant!. Its so close to home, really beautiful and also does great take away! I really miss the original owners back 5 years ago who use to know our names and the names of our children (amazing customer service), gave cooking classes and made absolutely the best Thai I have ever tasted, but the new guys are still great and they deserve our good review! You'll really enjoy yourselves there!
Physmum
Have not eaten in the restaurant but have ordered several times for home delivery. Great food, great service and such a reasonable price. You can't really go wrong with this place!

Tasty Thai. Nice atmosphere and tasty food. We had the whole fish (barramundi) with sweet chilli sauce, and red curry with beef. Both had a good balance of flavours with quality ingredients. The red curry is one of the best that I've had, it had a bit of a spicy kick and was not too sweet or rich.
Looking forward to going back and trying the duck curry.

Great food, fabulous service and super cheap! Best mussaman ever!
