Review Eastern Pearl Noodle Bar And Restaurant - Kew

Great noodle bar in kew. Always busy during lunch hour with all the offices around. They have a lunch menu which is quite reasonable and cheap. We normally get takeaway and my colleagues love it here. We have tried the fried rice, beef pad thai, beef Vermicelli. Portion for takeaway is good too.

I would rather eat Soylent Green. Thanks for your reply Tony, they say a picture is worth a thousand words.

This place is such a gem! The Char Kway Teow has great “wok hei” that some restaurants fail to achieve. Also, their Thai Curry Noodles are the most addictive thing ever. We have been coming here for years and the owners are super lovely. Great value and taste!

Don't judge a book by it's cover. It might not look like much, but this place is super quick, cheap and always tasty. Lots of different noodle options. Probably one of the best Pad Thai I've had outside of Thailand. Great place for vegetarians. Lunch tip, get one of their lunch specials and walk 100 metres to Alexandra Gardens for a great lunch with a view.

Incredible. Family business that's been around forever. Their service is amazing and the food won't disappoint my personal favourite are the hokkien noodles that are rich in flavour and can go well with any meat you chose and vegetables. The price is great for the serving and if you just give it a go it will become a local favourite (which it already is).

点了一份面,是非常非常油腻。。味道也普通的很。。这家店的生意很冷清的。。可能是因为味道不好而且太市口差了。。店里也是地方很小的,属于那种你吃了一次不会要去吃第二顿的餐厅。
This little take away makes the freshest and tastiest noodles in Melbourne. I love their Singapore noodles and not to mention their spring rolls!
Staff is always friendly and owner/chef has been running this place for ages.

Highly recommend! Great price and great portions!

Good food, great prices, & friendly staff!!!. I really enjoy their Hokkien Noodle with BBQ Pork, it has a really nice flavor from their wok. They've been in Kew for 14 years & it's easy to see why. The place is casual and I noticed it one day when it was pretty packed for lunch. My go to Asian food fix in Kew. The prices are great!! Food is delicious.. Going to try their Laksa next go..

Always a delight when we order from Eastern Pearl Noodle Bar. We are literally eating through the entire menu, dish by dish. We had previously ordered from various different Asian noodle/stir fry joints via online websites. However, we noticed this gem on our street order and were surprised that their mains were up to half the price of other restaurants so we gave them a go.

Can't rave enough about the quantity and quality of the food! Don't be deceived by the shop's simple exterior, they are great.

Friendliest noodle bar. I have been coming here for a few years now. I will not eat at any other noodle bar if I feel like noodles. The staff are fantastic. Especially the head chef and one of the male staff whose name slips my mind.
The service is fantastic , eat in our take away. I would recommend this family business to everyone. It is good supporting family businesses aswel.
The food is exceptional for the price. I often get pad thai and sweet and sour chicken. It is delicious !!!!

Best noodle shop in Kew.

Not bad, but it's still just noodles. I've been going to Box Hill for work recently, and I've seen Eastern Pearl from the 109 tram a lot. After reading the ecstatic reviews on Urbanspoon, I reckoned I'd try it for takeaway one day when I was on an evening shift at a hospital out that way. Eastern Pearl is certainly a popular place -- when I came in at lunchtime, people were lined up out the door and the owner guy was working flat out like a noodle boiling. Service was efficient. Prices were about average for a noodle shop: $8.50 to $11+ for one of those trapezoidal Chinese takeaway boxes of your choice. The people dining inside seemed to be getting bigger serves on their plates than what's contained in the boxes, but maybe my eyes were just jealous.

I had the Hokkien noodles with barbecued pork ($11.20) based on recommendations of other reviewers. It was OK, decent springiness to the noodles when I chewed them, adequate amount of sliced pork (a trifle fatty), tasty but thinnish brown sauce (which had sunk to the bottom of the box by the time I got around to eating it.) I'm not knocking this place -- I've had worse food in the Chinese hotspot that is Box Hill -- but I wasn't blown away by it either. Unless you're an Asian noodle fetishist who gets excited about hand-cut vs. robot-made (they had those machines where I used to live in Vancouver, Canada) and other Asian pasta trivia, a noodle is just a noodle.

Great Wok Tossed Noodles! Good Value!. My colleagues and I come to this place often during lunch breaks. I've tried most of their noodle dishes and all of them have been great. Hokkien noodles with bbq pork and char kway teo with beef are my favourites.Portions are very generous and the price is just right.

Meh. Cashier barely looked us in the eye, not very friendly and food was below average, all three of us found it pretty bland.

Massively underwhelming.. I don't hold hole in the wall noodle places to the same standards as higher end eateries. Usually I just want something fresh and filling and flavoursome, with quantity over quality ok in my book.
With this in mind, and being new kids on the Kew block, we checked out this place after seeing the reviews here.
Which leads me ask whether there is another place with the same name, as the food was overly sweet 'basic Asian stir fry' Westernised style sauces with tiny chunks of limited range veg (onion, cabbage, carrot, some broccoli) and even smaller portions of meat swimming in it.
I deliberately ordered a dish that claimed to be spicy - it wasn't.
If this was 1989 again, I could possibly forgive this, but even more remote suburban Chinese places offer far better quality, let alone spice factor.

For the price, it's worth the short tram ride down Victoria St for far better.

The best Chinese style takeaway place I've ever been to!. This is without a doubt the best Chinese style takeaway place I've ever been to. My partner and I have moved out of the area and still travel back to order from Eastern Pearl. They will make any type of noodle you ask for, whether on or off the menu. The main chef (who I suspect is the owner) greets us like old friends although we only make it there every so often. I would recommend eating in as the place is tiny, but as a takeaway shop, it it gets 10 out of 10 from me.

The best NOODLES. I am in love with the Singaporean noodles and thai fried rice! they are amazingly affordable and extremely friendly chefs.
You have to try them if you love asian cuisine, and they also do delivery if you don't want to go out on a winters night.

Yummm. Friendly owner (the guy at the back), quick takeaway, cheap. One time I requested a meal out of the menu and he cooked it for me.

Lovely staff, I've never had anything from eastern pearl that I didn't like, we often go on a Friday night and they always give us free prawn crackers. The char keoy teow is beautiful and also the satay fried rice is great.

Best noodles in kew. Myself and family are regulars for takeaway on friday night and usually get char Kwai teow and Hockien noodles but recently we were adventurous to try other things on the menu and everything was brilliant. A true unlikely gem in kew.
