Excellent! Clean, spacious and extensive menu. Waiters and waitresses were very very attentive. Always checking on us every five minutes. Food was served pretty quick and tasty. Thumbs up to all working there as we enjoyed ourselves very much. Sufficient carpark behind the restaurant. Well done!!

Visited NYE 2021 for dinner. Now normally on these occasions, the wait staff and kitchen are all dying to get home and you can sense the lack of care and the general feel like they're trying to shove you out the door. But not here. Nope. Amazing attention to detail and service from all wait staff and the kitchen put out absolutely top notch food. According to family who had been previously, it's of the same standard as always which speaks volumes for the chefs and management. Food was AMAZING. cannot recommend it enough. Ordered 9 dishes. Every single dish was on point and perfect. I'm definitely coming back.

Excellent Roast Duck on Rice and Chicken with vegetables on rice from Nihao Kitchen. Good portions. Very authentic and tasty. Service is also excellent. Friendly and helpful staff. Will be back

Clean place, subtle music, neighbouring tables not too loud. Food looks good, taste goood, a bit pricy but understandable at current cost of goods. Waiters attentive but not obtrusive.

Excellent Cantonese fare at reasonable prices. Basically pacific seafood but $20 cheaper pp. loved the beef dish and the crab + noodles are flavoursome. Fish was really nice.

We came here for a family dinner and the food was really fresh but slightly more pricey + smaller portion sizes than other Chinese establishments. We really enjoyed the Mongolian beef, the fried noodles and the deep fried prawns

Quite impressed by their food actually when I was only expecting another average Chinese restaurant for a quick meal. Complimentary soup is hearty, dishes were full of flavours. Will definitely return and bring friends here.

Providing service to the customers is clearly important to this restaurant.

The food was fresh and tasty and plentiful.

It’s obviously a favourite for families to have dinner. Even early in the week it was busy.

Not fancy but a good place for a mid week dinner.

Service: 4*
Food: 3.5*
Ambience 3*

We dropped by this place for a quick lunch of congee and fried rice on a weekday. The pork and century egg congee was a little lacking in ingredients but was of a good consistency. Small pieces of scallops and shrimps adorned the fried rice which was well cooked and seasoned. A very pleasant lunch for the 3 of us for less than $30. Now, that's hard to beat!

Nice atmosphere, attentive staff. The food was to die for - cuttlefish dish cut fine and delicately sauteed; eggplant and scallop cooked to perfection. They certainly know what they are doing.

Easy to book table. There’s customer parking next to restaurant so that was a bonus. Nice ambience. Very courteous and attentive service. Our tea was constantly refilled so that was nice. Generous huge food portion - good value for money. Food was yummy too. And this is for entertainment book users - they offer a 25% discount. Will definitely recommend and revisit. 👍🏼👍🏼

We had dim sum for lunch. The dim sum are below standard. I have no idea how can they deliver those below standard food to customers. if you are looking for dim sum, please avoid this place.

I recently came to this restaurant almost every day. Perfect food and nice people. Steamed pork juicy dumping and Peking Duck are my favourites. Hope more people could know this restaurant and enjoy the food there.

Our initial booking was confirmed then changed by restaurant. We had to have the banquet and be there by 6 pm and leave by 8pm. The food was rushed and although we asked them to slow down it made no difference. The service although adequate was rushed . Twice drinks were spilt once on one of my guests. Also in the noodle dish we discovered a paper note about fish obviously cooked in dish. We told the manager and owner and they did not even apologize. Overall a disappointing experience. We also did not have the entertainment of a lion dance that the next sitting had. Not a restaurant that we will revisit.

Service: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Taste: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Ambiance: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Value: ⭐️⭐️⭐️

As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by the manager and ushered upstairs. The waiters were very attentive and often came over to check our teapot to see if we needed refills.

We started off with the Seafood Tofu Soup. The soup was excellent with pieces of crab and assorted seafood as expected. We ordered the Seafood Claypot and Salted Egg Prawns as mains. Both dishes were extremely tasty and authentic. We had the Walnut Buns for dessert and they were to die for! A must try.

Overall, a fantastic local restaurant for those who do not want to travel into the CBD for a nice family dinner.

Delicious Chinese food with big portions and authentic flavour! Ask the manager to recommend if you are unsure what to order, he has never left me astray. Highly recommended

We had a dinner party of 16 in a private room, the food was very good, excellent service &reasonably priced. We will definitely go back for the pipa duck & the spicy crispy eggplant.

Came here for the group Sunday lunch. It’s full house and packed. The dishes are all in good decent portion and worth the value. Will come back to try the roast duck dinner.

This restaurant is again coming under new management. Previously it was San Choi and then another. Both failed badly with the quality of food and service.

I came here twice now but both times unfortunately with a friend who knows the management. Unfortunate because I cannot evaluate the quality of food that they normally would serve to the general public.

To start off my review I must say that both times I came the food was excellent. The service was of course good.

The decor has changed in that it has put in some bench seats. The walls are not plastered with menus.

The food presentation is nice and the serve size is very generous. The sweet and sour pork is the best I have had for a long time. Really nice cut of meat. Good balance of sweetness and sourness. There is not a drop of excess gravy on the plate. This impressed me. Generous usage of fresh pineapples and capsicum. Other dishes really give me the same level of enjoyment.

Enough said. If this level of quality can be maintained it should be around for a while yet.

Not sure what to expect as the name seems very casual. It turns out their Cantonese/Chinese dishes were quite delicious. They were also flexible as we wanted some vegetables with our beef. The chrysanthemum fish we ordered was one of the best I have had in Melbourne.

This place is a legit Chinese restaurant. It felt like a home away from home, the exact flavours that you get back in Asia. The chilli oil dumplings will put up a good fight with Hutong. I’ll definitely be coming back for more to try the other dishes on the menu. One thing that I would point out is that it is pretty pricy so prepare to come in with a fat wallet.
Bite The Looks By BHA
It was a quite wednesday. As you enter the restaurant you can hear a lot of people from different background enjoying their food accompanied by a glass of wine.
Upon my arrival, the staffs was greeted and welcoming me to my designated table. They recommend me to get the set menu..

FOOD Set Menu
1. Xiao long bao, skin has the right texture and soft. juicy, perfectly seasoned and cooked meat inside.

2. Spicy dumpling not too spicy, sweet, sour with spring onion. A perfect combination of spicy sour and sweet but create harmony in your mouth

3.Watermelon juice is really fresh and sweet. Complimentary from the restaurant.

4.King prawn with salted egg was so crispy, the prawn was so juicy and cooked perfectly.

5.Crispy eggplant (one of the chefs specialty) i did not expect that the size was a lot!Perfectly cooked inside crispy, sweet and sour sauce, so flavourful!
One of my favourite dish from the set menu.

6.Chinese cabbage with garlic sauce was
fresh, perfectly blanch and wok together. Balance flavour and the garlic is not too overpowering, which is i like it!

7.Beef ribs with teriyaki sauce was so tender!! The meat was juicy, chewy, the home made teriyaki sauce well absorb to meat, make the meat richer flavours.

8.Salted egg yolk custard bun was amazing!! The filling was melted inside when you break it apart, makes it one of the best bun i’ve ever eat so far in melbourne. I want to go back and eat the bun more!

9. Watermelon cut

Overall, the place was nice, easy to find a carpark too. The ambience and the place itself was bright and welcoming. The staffs was also very attentive and friendly. They are always making sure that each table was taken care of.

I will gladly to coming back to Nihao restaurant for sure! Thank you for the great experience.

#BHAsFoodDiary
The Casual Diner
Will come back for:
+ Shanghai Juicy Pork Dumplings
+ Chilli Wantons
+ Golden King Prawns with Salty Egg Yolk
+ Sliced fish in pickled vegetable soup
+ Premium beef in teriyaki sauce
+ Salty Egg buns

There is a lot to like about this new chinese restaurant in Kew. The space is big, service was friendly, and staff very knowledgeable of all their food. But the freshness of ingredients and tastiness of the dishes speaks above everything else. The promise of the juicy dumplings was fulfilled, with each dumpling busting with hot small packets of tasty soup (not many restaurants get this right). And the chilli wantons were well balanced and a delightful way to start the meal. The egg plant chips were good but you really can’t eat too much of these as they tended to the sweet side. We also liked the Salty Egg encrusted king prawns and you can really taste the freshness of the prawns here. In truth, you can cook any fresh seafood this way, and it’ll taste great. We were particularly surprised by the fish fillet in pickled soup. This deliciously textural soup makes you feel healthy drinking it with the combination of pickled Vegs, herbs and fresh fish. The premium beef was an eye fillet cut of beef that was cooked medium and super tender and moorish (although a little sweet). And the Salty egg buns was a nice way to round off the meal. Not much to fault here. The menu is loaded with casual hawker type dishes, but also has a good selection of “A la Carte” dishes that you can order to suit. A great addition to the High St stretch and we certainly will be back!

(We were invited to dine here by the owners in this case).

Fantastic Chinese dining. Huge prawns in duck egg yolk, delicious dumplings. Fresh and tasty calamari. Equal or better than anything we've had in the city.
