I go here before school to get coffee, the staff are super friendly, and I like the toasted paninis but there is not a lot
On the menu
I work as a Nanny and often pop into Brandy with one or both of the children I look after. I have used the takeaway service as well as eating in. During the school terms, this is an extremely busy cafe as it is situated within 1km of 5 private schools and a couple of preschools. Despite this, I usually have my takeaway coffee and the children's hot chocolates within 5 minutes.
The staff are friendly and always acknowledge the children. Now that it is school holidays and they are less busy, they have taken the time to have a more in depth chat. I sat inside yesterday with both children and they gave each of them an extra marshmallow with their hot chocolates and my large soy cappuccino was perfect. I am extremely fussy when it comes to my coffee and Brandy do very good coffee consistently.
I am yet to have a meal there, but the children and I have had cake or macarons and have thoroughly enjoyed them. Whenever I go in, there are always regular customers there and for such a small cafe, they seem to fit a lot of people in. You can also select to eat outside as they have two large tables with bench seats which is perfect if you have pets or the weather is nice.
I quite like Brandy. First visit and won’t be my last- I love the decor and it’s small size. It is a quiet relaxed place to enjoy a tasty meal. I had the eggs Benedict which was adequately portioned and tasty. Staff were friendly too.
I must admit that the most recent Zomato reviews of this cafe acted much like a deterrent for me. Especially after reading comments about the lack of hospitality. However, I thought I’d give this place a shot because the earlier reviews (last year) were positive and I wanted to try more cafes in Kew. I’m happy to report that the level of service was great and that staff were friendly. I came in the afternoon today (Wednesday, weekday) and it wasn’t too busy. I liked the old-school music playlist playing in the background. The interior was modern and clean, with two high but thin walls of greenery adding some freshness to the ambience. The cappuccino and latte that we ordered were delicious and more importantly, I found the food to be fantastic. The ‘Whipped strawberry hotcake’ was sweet, but not overly sweet. It was well-balance and the portion was generous. The ’Smashed avocado’ on the other hand, was befitting of the classic breakfast. I appreciated the extra spreads of butter on each of the crunchy sourdoughs as well as the fact that the cafe didn’t mix the tomato salsa and goat’s curd into the avocado. (You have the option of placing these ingredients to one side if you’re not a fan of eating them together) It’s not a big deal, but it would be nice to see this cafe introduce some different lattes like matcha or tumeric into its drink menu - something lots of Melbourne cafes have begun adopting. All-in-all, we had a wonderful experience.
Great scrambled eggs with ham hock and chili
Friendly and fast service, enjoyed the magic coffee, good to get out of the hustle and bustle of main roads and city etc, I'll be back for the house made muesli/Bircher next time I'm visiting the area
First impressions are big for me when coming to a new place and this little gem didn't disappoint.
From the gorgeous greenery corner to the cute gingerbread men and women the place was very cozy and welcoming. I had the brandy version of an eggs benny and it was amazing I couldn't fault a thing apart from the music haha went from funk to eminem and back lol the dj needs sorting out
We rode our bikes and sat on a table outside even though it probably would have been more comfortable and warmer inside. We ordered muffins and coffee and everything was great including the friendly service. We look forward to our next visit.
Best coffee and delicious soup! Partner got the pulled beef brisket roll, one word... epic! Staff were friendly and very well presented, amazed at how quickly our coffee and food arrived. Well done, will be back.
Cafe is nice and clean.
Double Espresso follows the same lines, nice and clean with a real fruity finish.
Chilli scramble was delicious and had a good kick, so many places claim to serve a chilli scramble and not even have a trace of heat.
This version delivers.
Will certainly be back.
Found this spot last week trying to go back streets to avoid traffic and stopped in for a look. Ended up getting a burger and a magic. I was really impressed, both were amazing. Family friendly vibe and a real hidden gem this cafe. Love it.
The best toasted cheese sandwich we have had in a long time and good coffee. The staff are friendly and the early hours are good to pop in before work.
So happy to have a cafe that does a good soy coffee. I've been here a few times since it opened, made to consistent perfection every time. Cost is on par with other cafe's in the area. Service time has always been pretty good.
Brandy, Kew’s newest opening has appeared in one of the quietest cafe launches so far this year. Hiding on a street corner in the middle of a residential area, it was complete chance that it was noticed after a wrong turn heading somewhere else. It also comes as a surprise that Brandy is the latest from the team behind other names like Temperance Society, Miss Frank and Espresso 3121.
Great food, lovely atmosphere and quite reasonably priced to boot. I had the Chilli Scramble for breakfast and it was sensational. I enjoyed it so much I went again the following week and had a pulled beef roll from the lunch menu. Staff were pleasant. A breath of fresh air in Kew and now my fave spot.
Came across this little gem on my morning commute. Was greeted at the door, given exceptional coffee. Awesome fitout. Will be back with fams this weekend
Great new place! Friendly service and really good food. I've had the chicken burger a number of times and it rocks. The coffee is really delicious too. A local gem.
Been twice to this lovely local cafe now, the chilli scrambled 3ggs are perfect and The beef cheek is absolutely delicious!
Great coffee and friendly staff!
Menu somewhat limited it this is a wonderful renovation and resurrection of this perfectly-placed mid-suburb cafe. Coffee fabulous. I have an almond latte and no sign of curdling anywhere to be seen. Meal fresh and well-presented. Well worth trying.
