I really enjoyed this meal. The Mongolian beef was beautiful, flavour so spot on. However improvement could be made with the veg selection in the dish, it’s really only onion and zucchini which is a bit boring but still very nice. The special fried rice was nice again but could do with a bit of colour added maybe spring onion or peas or something. Just looks bland also. But in saying that it was very tasty we ate it all lol. It’s expensive but you get what you pay for and I would definitely return. Thanks
I did return tonight and wow amazing service and great food. I got garlic prawns and special fried rice, honestly is nice and very generous with prawns which are fresh as well. I have spent probably thousands in my life on trying different Asian restaurants around noble park and Springvale and this place is hands down the best you can find
We love coming here you never walk out hungry
The only criticism that I would have on this occasion is that they lacked their usual variety and some of our favorites weren’t on the menu

A great local gem that serves yum cha every day !
They have a great variety of yum cha dishes served that come in a variety of prices, so having a feed here doesn't necessarily mean having to break the bank!
On occasions that the cart doesn't have what I want, they have been great to be able to make it on order and comes out fresh and hot.
The place can get very busy especially on the weekends and may need a few raised hands or looks in the staff's directions to get their attention. But overall, service is prompt.
Definitely a local favourite!
Feeling fortunate to have this chinese resturant in my local area. My family comes here every now and then for yum cha or dinner. We went dinner recently and still loving the quality and quanity of the food served. Our all time favorite dishes are egg yolk fried chicken and black pepper beef.

Almost every our group ordered were great qualities in term of flavor and meatiness (don't ordered the prawn hargow, steam rice paper rolls with prawn and the dessert tofu)

This is my favourite yum cha eatery. Compared to other places I've tried, this place by far exceeds in terms of food quality and taste. It might not be the cheapest but I'd rather pay more if it means I don't walk out feeling disappointed.
My recommended dishes: mango pudding, chicken feet, rice noodle rolls.
Like most busy Asian restaurants, service is unattentive. You just gotta wave that arm, make eye contact and eventually someone will come. Or you could be like my brother and just help yourself at the cutlery and sauce stand.

Really good Yum Cha here. Worth a try, the options are endless. It's always packed so expect a slight wait but the food is delicious and fresh. Always a pleasant experience coming here as staff is friendly and price is reasonable as well.
My favourite Yum Cha place in Melbourne! Great variety a bit different from the standard Dim Sum fare. The duck in tofu skin & scallop dumplings were especially tasty.
Service is unusually friendly for Dim Sum where I’m used to being bossed around and ignored.
It does get busy so make sure you book.
Went here for a date night dinner and very impressed with the food had the sang Choi bao for entree and the Mongolian beef with fried rice for main service was great highly recommended can bring your own booze in too #drunklife

It has been the yum cha place for me and my family for years. Never one time disappointed. It’s not as noisy as most other yum cha place around east/south east area. Dimsim are always hot and delicious. Staff are always friendly.
Shark Fin Inn consistently serves very good yum cha. I've been coming to them since I was a young child. They are definitely a 4, but for nostalgia, personal bias, consistency and for all that jazz I'll bump them up.
The food is always cooked right, properly flavourful, steamed right, fried correctly. The decor has changed over the years but the food remains the same. That speaks of the standards of their food for me.
The food is good as well as the customer service. Chicken feet is amazing. Booking should be made on public holiday or weekend otherwise you might have to wait quiet long.
I come here for yum Cha regularly and my family opts for yum Cha here more frequently than the ones at Springvale just because the food is wayy better. I personally think the chicken feet here is wayyy more nicer than the ones at Springvale. The options are pretty similar as well. I’ve come here at night as well and ordered their fish and it was pretty okay. The fried ice cream was really good.
Come here once in a while when you have that yum Cha craving and you should leave reasonably happy.

My family and I have been coming here for a few years now. Part of it out of convenience but the food is also been consistent. We’ve had both dinner and yum cha here. This is a a Cantonese style Chinese food. If you want to try their yum cha please make sure that you book in advance. They are seems to always be full on the weekends.
Whether it's a la carte or yum cha, the food is always high quality and the serving sizes are always on the larger side, which is great.
My favourite is the Mandarin Chicken, which is always the dish I order. You can't go past ordering the fried rice on the side too.
We dined here for lunchtime yum cha. There are two sessions, 11:30am and 1:30pm. The dishes here were of a high standard. The pictures included are of my favourite ones. Hot, fresh and tasty. Service was very efficient with teapots topped up regularly.
The yum Cha here is one of the best. It has a great variety and their Chocolate cake it so yummy. And the al la carts is also pretty good. One of the few good Chinese restaurants.
10/10 cleanliness, they took our clean plates for another clean plates. I went with my fam for dinner here, dumplings usually come in three pieces each but we ordered an extra one each for four of us to try one each. Prawn fried wonton was my favourite, it was very crunchy and delicious. Roasted ducks were above exceptional, fried rice was a bit dry though😕

I live in Manor Lakes and I still come all the way here for Yum Cha. That pretty much says it all.
Do not recommend for dinner though, unless you want to feel your mouth shrivel up into itself from all the MSG. If you can handle that, then the dinner menu is decent.
Who doesn't love yum cha? But if you're coming to Shark Fin, I'd recommend you book first to avoid the queue. I also advise to book the first session, this ensures food is piping hot when it comes out and everything is super fresh! I've been to Shark Fin so many times and each time always consistent. Favourites are the Ha Gao, Corn dumplings and those adventurous enough, the chicken feet! Dessert, don't go past the tofu pha (sweet tofu) ice cream snow ball or the flaky egg tarts! Absolutely amazing!
We had dinner not lunch, the food was really nice. Service could be better. We were quite rushed towards he end. Not much to say this time round.
Had dim sum for lunch and it did not disappoint. Everything was good. My favourite would be the pork ribs. The siu mai could have done better. By the time the dessert table came we were already stuffed, but could still manage to order a few. The mango pudding and the black sticky cake (can't remember what it's called) were the best I reckon. This busy dim sum place is worth exploring.

It was surprisingly a plesent experience. When the waiters would come around with the carts they would offer to get a brand new, freshly cooked dish than the one they had. It would come from the kitchen within 5 mins. Service was prompt.

I've been going to this restaurant since I was about 12 , I've missed going there for the last couple of years but made a point to go this year. My review might be nostalgia based but I really enjoyed it. The decor is the same as when I was younger the staff are also the same, prompt, a tad abrupt but efficient and typical of any busy Yum Cha joint. I love the flakey pastry on the BBQ pork triangles, the filling was also on point, prawn dumplings lovely, prawn and beancurd also lovely. My partner and I had a lot more there wasn't anything I could fault. The mango mouse is exactly like I remember and the egg tarts also delicious. I will say I've had dumplings, dim sum and anything comparable at many many places, I'm certainly not saying this is the best but, they're still going so they're doing something right.
Just want to rate a reasonable yum Cha with good variety, good service. Always busy with lots of Asians which is always a good sign. Friendly, fast, and busy. Pays to book in advance.
Great value for Yum Cha. 3 people $75. Had our fill plus dessert. It was surprisingly packed for a week day afternoon. However service was prompt and food just kept coming! Both on laden trays and push carts. Not fine end intricate fair but excellent taste and variety. Definitely my first stop for yum cha if in the area.

I came here for lunch and the restaurant was quiet because it was the middle of the day. The food came out in trolleys immediately so I didn't have to wait long. There was a great variety to choose from. Highly recommend the dumplings; so good (especially the prawn ones). It was satisfying and I regularly come here when I'm craving yum cha.

this place has brilliant food, service is good as majority of the staff are friendly. It also can be very pricy, my honest opinion I'd prefer gold leaf as there are more variety of dishes to choose from.
The staff were very nice, restaurant was clean and the staff were so quick to take away the empty plate of food so pretty much the service was hands down amazing. There were not a large variety of food but the ones they offered taste amazing how ever i did have to wait a while to get 1item that i order.
Overall i highly recommend this restaurant.

I think I've mentioned (maybe just a few times??) that going out to eat is a favourite pastime of mine. In that vein, the Khocolateman and I really enjoy yum cha. We used to go to a great place in Glen Waverley, but since we moved further south, we've started going to Shark Fin in Keysborough instead. We've taken various friends with us, but so far no-one else has shared our love of chicken feet in black bean sauce. Funny that! Last Sunday, we booked a group of four of us (us Khocolates, plus Auntie Spanx and her sister) for the 1:15pm sitting. They also do an 11am sitting, but that was a little early for us today. We arrived a few minutes early and had to wait to be seated, but because we had a booking, at least we didn't miss out! The first trolley to come out had our favourite! We took two dishes of chicken feet. They were soft and squishy without being slimy, and the sauce was salty without being overpowering. There's no neat way to eat chicken feet - while the Khocolateman eats his with his fingers, I like to hold the top of mine with with chopsticks and eat bit by bit, but both of us always come out with sticky hands and faces! Auntie Spanx and her sister declined to try this dish - I can't think why! The other highlight for the Khocolateman was the barbecue pork buns. These are the steamed ones with the rice paper on the bottom, and which break nice and neatly into quarters. They were soft and fluffy on the outside, and the diced pork was nice and sweet. We also tried the more bready version, and the bread in that was great, but the innards weren't quite as 'porky' as the steamed ones. To finish off, we had sweets from the dessert trolley. Auntie Spanx and the Khocolateman each had a creme brulee and a coffee pudding, as well as a bowl of jelly, while Auntie Spanx' sister and I both had the mango pudding, which was really good (a really distinctive mango taste - yum!). Suburban Guangzhou. Had an enjoyable dinner here ala Cantonese cuisine. The lobster particularly stands out, with outstanding taste, luscious gravy and appreciated freshness. I also like the stir fried vegetables. The lads waiting at our table were attentive. Our group had our own function space and the lady captain was engaging with a smile. No we did not have any shark fin's soup.

Although the place itself needs a bit of work, the food there it great.
The staff have been sweet and helpful every time, even handing out tips on how to use chopsticks.

In most cases the food is brought out and cooked in front of you ensuring its steaming hot on your plate.

Reminds me of ma's cooking.. Too lazy to cook, have ordered takeaway several times, eaten in a couple.
Flavours come close to my grandma's cooking, so this makes it a winner for me as most chinese I have had out is very bland and just not authentic.
Also bit pricey but great otherwise.
The roast duck is always a winner, quail has good amount of flavour and spice. Asian greens were at the right crisp not overcooked.
Soups have been full of flavour, most of the items in the entree menu have been spot on with taste and texture, generally no additional condiments needed to be added.
Service in house was ok, staff need to pay a little more attention to table service and wait times on meals, the gentleman looking after front counter is always friendly.
Only suggestion is update decor.
This was my first time visiting the restaurant. Food quality is definitely better than most yum cha restaurant in Melbourne. Although the food was pretty good, there is a need for the staff to be more attentive to the customers. My friend had difficulty getting the attention from the staff to check our orders- everyone seemed busy looking elsewhere other than the customers.
My husband and I have been coming for 5 years and the good is still fantastic and very friendly service! Steam barramundi is our favourite dish!

A Great Turn Around!!!. Had been to this Chinese Restaurant for Yum Cha many times due to the close proximity to the office.
For the last few times the standard of food and service can only be described as 50/50.
Food had often came out cold and sulky. With stir fried noodles and rices often over seasoned and salty.
Services can only be scored as sub-par with the tenancy for slow to no response to food requests like asking for chilli oil or just a tea refill and often complimented with the sad looking faces of waiters.
As such when the team decided to give Shark Fin another go there were skepticism all round.
However when we entered the restaurant front door and were greeted with a smiling face that skepticism slowly but surely melted away. It had been a long time coming.
Chinese tea were brought to the table quickly as are chilli oil and fresh chilli.
Dumplings served from trolleys are piping hot.
And fried items are crispy on the outside and again hot on the inside.
And if our taste buds aren't on holiday the tastes of the food had improved.
We don't know if it was a change in management or the kitchen head. The service level had also improved.
Tea were refilled frequently and empty dishes were gone in a flash before new food came on.
At the end of lunch everyone is full and satisfied and happy.
This had been a fine effort by the rejuvenated Shark Fin and fingers crossed that they stay that way for many more Yum Cha years to come.
I'm a regular eater of yumcha at gold leaf Springvale and I have no idea why I didn't try this place earlier!!! Great service for an Asian restraurant, good yumcha that isn't salty where you feel you need to drink liters of water after! Bye gold leaf and hello shark fin :D thank you to your kind staff.
Always Good. Great Food, always busy, which is an excellent sign. Lots of Asians eat here, must be good. One of the best Yum Cha's I have had. Seafood is to die for. Can't wait to dine again
Love Sunday morning yum cha at the Shark Fin Inn. I travel over two hours to enjoy the massive variety of food, and love the bustling atmosphere! Absolutely addicted to the Chinese Ted too! Love it!!
Came here at around 2 for yum cha with a pram and the service was absolutely lovely and made enough room for us and near the cool air. Even though the kitchen was closing soon due to it not being busy, the service was outstanding and the food was immaculate. Fried prawns were to die for, and the calamari was delicious. Dessert was the chocolate pudding and was amazing. Absolutely loved the experience.
Can't be beaten around the area. Definitely much much better than Gold Leaf in Svale.
Have yumcha here once every month or so. And the food is always good.

My main was the satay beef, which is served on a sizzling plate, it was absolutely lovely .
I had a side of fried rice with this it was reasonable but i have had a lot better.
Overall i highly recommend Shark Fin although i advise you book ahead on weekends as this place gets packed out!
Excellent yum cha!. In spite of a very busy Sunday lunch the food, service and atmosphere were the best I have found in a yum cha restaurant. I have travelled most of my life and had yum cha and dim sum in many countries, including, of course, Hong Kong and mainland China. The Shark Fin in Keysborough (Vic) is by far the best restaurant I have found for this kind of meal. The quality of the food is superior, the presentation and cuisine are excellent and the staff, even when extremely busy, is kind and very quick. 100%!
Service, Food, cleanliness and variety all a 10/10. Best YumCha my wife and I have had. The floor manager was so friendly and professional that it made the whole experience so enjoyable. Can't wait to go back.

Their yum cha is to die for! Dinner is also good, but it's nothing special. You could get the same quality for cheaper in Springvale. The staff are always attentive and all in all, it's a great restaurant.
Great yum cha. We had a family gathering on Sunday at Shark Fin. The numbers kept changing, but the staff kept up with us and remembered the changes. Carts full of delicious dishes come at a furious pace, with tempting morsels waving in front of us. Each dumpling tasted of individual ingredients, indicating freshness. We stumbled across a few treats - Chinese donuts (yummo!). The final bill was a shock! Way less than I expected, given the quality and the service.

Shark Research. Despite its location, this suburban branch of the long established Shark Fin Group seems to attract more positive endorsements than its Little Bourke Street counterpart.
The sprawling dining area has seating for over 300 patrons, and its high ceilings add to the feeling of spaciousness. Key staff are 'wired' with earpieces to ensure the dining room is run with military precision and fully laden yum cha trolleys arrive on schedule. We were seated immediately on arrival, though were instructed we had to vacate within 45 minutes, which was perplexing considering they were nowhere near capacity and still had plenty of tables available even when we'd finished.
We were immediately impressed by the sheer number of trolleys & trays circulating and it took only minutes before we had a table full of mini bamboo steamer baskets. If anything, there was probably too much choice. I guess the trick is being able to pace yourself, and pray that the delicious dim sum you send away rematerializes later.
The quality of all the dishes selected was very good, and comparable with some of the best yum cha previously sampled in Melbourne. In terms of variety, Shark Fin Keysborough rates as a clear stand out. Would happily head to this suburban outpost again to enjoy their weekend yum cha.

Great Special fried rice. Been going for years mainly to get takeaway never had a problem with service foods always great. Best in the area by far. Might be cheaper in springvale but you get what you pay for here!
Have been going to Shark Fin Keysborough for about 15 years, and have not had better yum cha anywhere. Would go there every weekend if I could. Service is great, friendly staff, and management is impeccable. Try the beef or prawns in rice noodles :)
