Review Wallder's Cafe - Kilmore

We found the wonderful Cafe last year on our way back from a camping trip and now make every effort to stop in if we're passing this way. The food is wonderful home style cooking with great care taken in the cooking and presentation of the food. Their coffee is in my top 5 of anywhere. The staff are always friendly and happy to have a chat if they're not busy and you're willing. All in all the only place we bother stopping now in Kilmore.

A small venue on the Main Street of Kilmore. This may not suit larger groups. Parking is either on the Main Street or a short walk from Patrick Street parking, Commonwealth bank / post office parking or Royal Oak Hotel rear parking. The food and beverages on offer should provide something for everyone. I had the bruschetta with side of bacon (refer photo). I enjoyed the meal. Those who want large servings may be disappointed. Each time I’ve visited, the service was friendly and timely. I find the food and service has been consistent. I’ll be back. Edit: 28/10 return visit and purchased large breakfast. I was unable to eat it all. Refer photo.

Food was average at best. Unfortunately when I arrived with my sister and her newborn yesterday I noticed the barista mouth “for f***s sake”. Not sure if he was anti customers or anti baby but was honestly rather appalled. I didn’t bring it up but management should really look into how people greet their customers, whether they think they’re looking or not.

My partner and I have have eaten here a few times and every time the food has been horrible, cold bacon, cold toast and foul tasting poached eggs! To make things worse the chef was handeling and plating our food ungloved! Didn't even wash her hands between handeling different food. Even seeing her plate up another customers salad without gloves on! A massive no no. As a chef I find that absolutely disgusting. I guess the saving grace for them is the friendly staff and good coffee!

This was our first time at the café. Us 4 "girls "meet once a month for lunch in kilmore as I have an appointment with my doctor there. Our usual watering hole is closed due to the pandemic. So we were in search of a new one and come across Wallders. Cannot recommend it highly enough. Will be the new watering hole from today onwards. The staff cannot do enough for you and the food and service is 1st class. Thank you Angela and the chef for the beautiful food.

We went back here for the first time in twelve months and they appear to have changed hands...husband and wife team? Food was certainly good but the service and willingness to please was awesome. Well done

Great food and service - we were a big group and they still managed to bring all food at the same time! Will go back often!

What's missing in Kilmore? Take away options that aren't pizza. Solution? Fantastic authentic Indian meals! I tried the Butter Chicken and it was the best version I have had in a very long time. Friendly staff, great atmosphere, well worth the visit

There's a lot to like about Wallder's. A gorgeous old building with lovely attention given to the decorating. The menu is reasonably priced and has a lot of family friendly options. We had a really nice brunch. I've given 4 stars because while the food was really good, it took a long time to come out. Having said that, the place was busy so we expected some delay. Overall, we really enjoyed it and will be back.

We dropped in for lunch yesterday and we enjoyed the experience. Coffee and service was brilliant with attention to detail. Thank you so much to the staff and management who made us feel so welcome. You brightened a very cold winters day. Definitely going back again.

Myself and [1048504844:Lliam Sedawie] stopped here and we had a wonderful lunch- both left very full and very happy. Fantastic food, coffee and hospitality. Also, the freshly squeezed orange juice is a must-try!

Had an excellent breakfast at Wallder's on Sunday. Allergic to eggs and they catered for my needs with a wonderful breakfast (without eggs)! Excellent staff and coffee is great!

Just had lunch here from the All Day Breakfast menu - Absolutely amazing!

Breakfast on two occasions and both visits did not disappoint. The last visit I opted for banana pancakes with ice cream - delicious. Pancakes were big fluffy and akin to pancake parlour in style. Looking around my table no one was disappointed- the big breakfast looking impressive as well. The coffee, I’ve had better and worse - good enough.

Discovered this cafe on a commute from Melbourne to Bendigo & discovered the fabulous breakfast menu & found I'd eaten it before I remembered I should have taken a photo of it - it was so good or I was so hungry. Anyway the place is clean & did I mention there is an ample supply of daily newspapers to read - will definitely rerun.

Not as good as it used to be. Was very disappointed to learn this place had changed hands. Nothing at all like my previous experiences. Cafe looked terrible and the window was so full of tacky pictures. Wait staff were nice but not anywhere near the quality as previous waitresses. Food was okay but nothing to rave over. Overall a disappointing dining experience. Such a shame.

Great menu - plenty of gluten free options available. Staff were friendly and prompt. Our meals were reasonably large (especially the steak sandwich) and they use good chicken in their salad.
They don't have gf soy milk.

Best cafe in Kilmore. Well what can I say this place has everything, great food and great coffee. I love the variety in the menu but my favorites would have to be the Cheese and Potatoe Pancake (with the bacon bits), the Barramundi and the Crepe Spanikopita (spinach and fetta crepes) just to name a few. The staff are always very friendly and inviting and the coffee is amazing. Do yourself a favor and give this wonderful cafe a go you won't be disappointed.

Thumbs up, just. The menu is essential all day breakfast and burgers. We had the burgers. Good buns with basic toppings. Patties were a bit bland and the chips were under cooked. Service and coffee were good. Nothing was overly fantastic or horrible.

Wallder's Cafe. I really enjoyed my meal at this lovely cafe, the pancakes are to die for. The service is very attentive, we will be back.

Unsatisfactory. Terrible coffee, bland food, grey hash brown, didn't taste of potato. Noisy from the dish washing area.

New Owners and New Opening. Our family went here for Mother's Day and it was terrible. The new menu offers heaps of pancakes and very little else. I had asked them before coming whether they had vegetarian food and assured that they did. The vegetarian food was pancakes and crepes and chips. I had the caesar salad without chicken and pancetta and it was tasteless and well overpriced for some lettuce and dressing and a insipid egg. My husband had the add on smoked salmon, it came with just the smoked salmon in a bowl with no garnish or anything and my son had to face a bowl of chips. Our friend's chicken was overcooked and dry. There was a huge sign out the front that said "licensed cafe". It wasn't licensed, we had to go up the road to buy wine. There was no special acknowledgement for Mother's Day. No mention of it in fact. Very disappointed as I used to go here all the time under the old management. Mother's Day is a huge day for our family and we wanted to support the local industries. I won't be bothering again.

Lovely service. Walders in the main street of Kilmore is a great haven for good coffee, just the way you like it, and wholesome, well presented food.
The service is always prompt and friendly, and the garden a delight.

WHAT service??. Awful service .... well, NO service! After waiting 5 mins to be served & then having a coffee thumped down in front of me, the grumpy waitress went missing & never bothered to come back with a menu. So naturally, I didn't get to eat there.

What a great place to spend a beautiful Tuesday afternoon. Tasty food, friendly engaged staff even when dealing with an overflowing inside and outdoors cafe. Everyone should go there.

Highly recommendable. On or way down to Melbourne we have stopped at Wallder's Cafe many times and always enjoyed a great coffee and some delicious food, like Risotto, Guinnes beer pie and many other yummy dishes. And now with the refurbished shop it really looks great too and there's plenty of space when it's too cold to sit in the beautiful garden.

An unexpectedly great find while passing through Kilmore. Spent an excellent time in the lovely beer garden. Food was amazing. Coffee was excellent.

Boring bagel and languid lamb. On our way back to Melbourne from Echuca we stopped in Kilmore for lunch and found ourselves at Wallder’s Cafe. The garden was lovely and the Spanish style tapas menu looked promising but that was where the pleasant experience ended. The staff looked rushed and the service was slow. I ordered the salmon bagel ($13) and my husband ordered the slow cooked lamb with yogurt sauce. My bagel was just that, a dry bagel with salmon and the tiniest amount of cream cheese. For $13 I expected something more. They need to take a look at The Black Pudding Café in Echuca to know what a delicious, well-priced bagel has the potential to be (for $8). The lamb was dry and tasteless, it lacked any spice or seasoning and tasted like it had been cooked, frozen and re-heated in the microwave. What a disappointment considering they have such a great set up with their garden.

Good, affordable food. Amazing garden. Great coffee!

Don't stop there for just a coffee!. Recently moved to area and took mum in for coffee and before we even decided whether to have anything else were told we couldn't stay there for an hour with just a coffee, found that very rude and had no intention of doing so. Try the Rose Cafe in Kilmore or Cafe Dinglish for welcoming service and give Wallders a miss.
