Review Pinang Bistro - Kingsford

The staff are friendly. The noodles, meatball are good. The restaurant is spacious and not noisy. Perfect to bring clients. My husband enjoys the desert. Thank you for the great service.

Great food and child friendly restaurant, spacious and clean place makes this restaurant a perfect place to have an enjoyable meal while the kids can entertain them self playing in the gated child area. Have been here for a friend kid's Birthday party, surprised by how the restaurant turns into a well laid out birthday venue. In short, would recommend this place anytime.

Food was good and the staff were nice. Fast service and didn't have to wait long after ordering.

when it's open, serves one of the best and affordable noodle around, really surprising. BTW meatballs are a MUST GET

The service was fantastic for the restaurant. The size portion of noodles and its amount of ingredients were extremely stingy although its taste was above average. A single fried wonton wrapper with no filling cost an extra 1.50 aud to the noodles which was already priced at seemingly expensive 8.80 aud for the size. Not recommending the restaurant for those who are looking for bang for the bucks.

The food is very standard. Its quite bland and cold. Service is slow. Ordered rice for 3 and 4 dishes but rice did not arrive until we ate most of the main. One of the dishes came very late at the end after we ate all the rice and we actually requested 3 times with 3 different waitresses. A restaurant level but no desserts. Martabak is never available. Very disappointing after looking forward to a good Indonesian food.

My family loves this restaurant. Yummy food & great service. Best bakso goreng!

I've eaten here a few times. I find the main difference to be the interior space which is large and comfortable. Usually there aren't too many other diners inside but on weekends, it can get busy and when it gets busy it does take a while for the dishes to come out.

I've tried the Bakso Goreng and the noodles with chicken and mushroom with various options for noodles such as thick, thin or rice noodle. The noodles were fresh and there is a sense of home-cooking in the dishes with a simpler and less salty flavour. The Bakso Goreng was also very tasty and I liked the soft texture of the pork inside the crispy exterior. I've also liked the soup that goes with the set.

The service has been alright. During the weekends it can get busy and so it's difficult sometimes to make payment, which is supposed to be done at the table. Prices here are a little high compared to other Kingsford outlets but still reasonable and the difference is going towards perhaps the more spacious feeling and high ceiling inside as well as the facilities such as a child-play area. Unfortunately, I tried to visit again recently and found that it's closed for now.

Nice quick food! They have a children play area! Highly recommend family with young kids. Adults can enjoy the food without kids running around the restaurant!

Terrible service.
We waited for 1 hour 15 minutes for our foods to be served.
No waiter asked us whether we have been served or not, until 1 hour later we questioned them. They just realised they did not put our orders through.
Do not come here if you want a quick meal.
Food taste is also ordinary.
Many other restaurants in Kingsford are better in terms of taste and service.

Very very bad services! Ever!!! Never ever gonna come to this restaurant anymore!! We order first but the other table that came after us got the food first..it take more than one hour so disappointed!

Like someone else said, I'd probably make Pinang Bistro my fallback if I couldn't get into Ayam Goreng 99. Or if I was eating with people who wanted a less cramped noisy experience than AG99. Food was all pretty good. Service was friendly and brisk from the owner, but not so great from the rest of the staff

I came here twice for the javanese style fried noodle, i really like that taste (sweet) maybe i need to come back and try for another dishes they have. Currently I'm love with that fried noodle

With bigger floor space, this restaurant has gone from strength to strength. Food is generally good here and the service is not bad either.

We love their noodle dishes, kuetiaw goreng aka Char Kuay Teaw. Their Bakso Goreng is very popular but not really our thing.

Bottomline : Good food. Good service. Good Value.

Walking in, I was instantly greeted with a smile which is nice. Great service by the staff. I came here in hopes of finding a great bakso goreng joint in Sydney and other beautiful Indonesian dishes. It was very unfortunate that the food was quite ordinary for my taste. Starting with the entree, I had the fried risoles and bakso goreng was quite oily. The fluffy fish-cake like meat inside the traditional bakso goreng was sadly not there because it somehow flattened towards the bakso's outer skin. The filling inside the risoles was also ordinary and not as traditional as usual which didn't really improve the taste to common risoles.
For the main dish, I ordered the ayam nasi goreng and fu yung hai. They were both highly disappointing for different reasons. The nasi goreng was very bland and I had to put some extra sauce on it so I could actually taste something. The bland fu yung hai was also a disappointment as the fluffyness of the inside was not present. Instead, I was presented with a more.. creamy okonomiyaki-like texture which is quite different to the fu yung hai.
I would probably come back to try their noodles as it seems like they're more known for it compare to the other Indonesian dishes and their staff was quite friendly.

I went there on Sunday at 2 a.m , the food just came at 3:30. We've been waiting for the food and we asked the waiter, and he said "what did you order? It is sold out, what else did you order?" Even other groups that came after us, they got served first before us. So disappointed, will never go back here again.

Good food, although it is a little expensive for my liking,
Nothing too special and average food. The portions are ok and the restaurant is usually really quiet. Its not too busy, so you are always able to get a seat.
Yummy Indonesian food but don't think i would go back again

Went to Pinang Bistro Sunday night, we were a group of 6 and was hoping to get in to Ayam Goreng 99 but didn't wanna wait the queue. Was a bit hesitant as the name 'bistro' gave me an impression of pub food. But this place was nothing like pub food. Food seems authentic Indonesian cuisine - very similar to what my mother in law makes. I really like how it's child friendly with a little playpen inside the restaurant. Food is of very good value with decent portions. It's a very good alternative if you can't get in Ayam Goreng 99 and you really are feeling some good Indo food. Would definitely go here again.

Say hello to indonesian food. Love their mega noodle it's the best ever with chixken, pork, wonton, fish ball, meat ball. For the nasi kuning (yellow rice) there's so many side dishes like prawn crackers, beef rendang, fried chicken (ayam goreng), etc.
Saar
Friendly atmosphere....delicious food....place for the kids to play !!
We were standing outside not sure whether to eat there or some where else.. and we were invited in with a friendly smile...the food was excellentlent, service quick and mindful for the children.
definitely coming back....

Had the yellow rice complete. Really good although the rendang was probably cooked last weekend. Friend had the mega noodles and loved it but couldn't finish.
Recommended

Our old favourite Pingansia Noodle House is reincarnated as Pinang Bistro in Kingsford. Pinangsia Noodle House in Kingsford was one of the places that inspired us to start this blog, it was where we discovered we could get Indonesian chicken noodles in Sydney, one of our favourite street food finds from a Jakarta trip years ago. Alas Pingansia Noodle House closed but the same folks started Pingang Bistro some time ago. The new digs are pretty flash compared to the old spot: it's spacious with high ceilings and there's even a kiddie play area at the front. We miss the crowded hullabaloo of their old hole-in-the-wall restaurant, though we don't mind the extra elbow room in the new one. Nasi Kuning Komplit - $15 . Yellow rice flavoured with tumeric with a bit of everything: beef rendang, fried chicken, tofu and lovely mystery crunchy bits. Mie karat ayam jamur - $8.80 . Our ye olde favourite of yellow chicken flavoured noodles with chicken and mushrooms on top, soup on the side. It's great but we're can't agree if reaches the lofty heights of the version at their Pinangsia Noodle restaurant. Shawn reckons the noodles don't quite have that same buttery magic. Alison reckons the noodles are just as good and Shawn's brain took a wrong turn down memory lane.

So-so and inflexible. The food wasn't flavourful enough and the staff were pretty inflexible about swapping meats with tofu or veggies. Not thinking of coming back due to the place not vegetarian-friendly enough.

HORRIBLE NASING GORENG WITH A PLASTIKY EGG ON TOP. This is the worst indonesian food we had for nasi goreng. From their chilli sauce (where it seem to come from ABC chilli bottle) to a clumpy looking nasi goreng with an egg that looked like it came from an airline food.

Sorry, I would go to sedap (also at Kingsford, they make authentic chilli paste/sauce!!) anytime or even Ayam Goreng 99 (worth the queue) or IndoRasa. For me the key to good indonesian food is how they make the sauce and how good is their nasi goreng. That is why for Thai food we all know that Spice I am is the best in Sydney...you try the sauce and you will know the "soul of the chef" who made the product.

About the service, unless you are indonesian, expect an average service with a below average food.

Not going back even if you pay me. Sorry to be rude but I just could not stop thinking about it unless I share this experience.

One of my favourite Indonesian restaurant for their noodle and especially the famous 'Bakso Goreng' or Fried Pork Meatball. They used to be called Pinangsia Noodle, but they moved to a bigger spot and rename the place Pinang Bistro. They serve a similar menu as before just with some addition to the dishes and increased in price ;p The new place is child friendly, how generous of them for using this space for kids area! The restaurant is always crowded during the weekend especially after church hour, most Indonesian will come here for gathering bringing their kids along, so a perfect place to let them be :) The new place also is very spacious! The design are simple and modern. They used to have like a corner station for all the chilli sauce and other condiments, but now, they have this handy small bowl of three consisting of the three different types of chillies for you. Yes, Indonesian can't eat without their chilli hehe To start with, the Fried Pork Meatball! This is the one that you

Tonight we decided to go to our all time favourite local restaurant Pinang Bistro.

Tonight hubby and I shared the Lontong Sayur and Satay. Their style of cooking is truly authentic, with the spices in every mouthful. Fresh curry is simply delicious. The satay and sauce were generous and reminded me of dining in Asia. I will also highly recommend their bakmie(chicken noodles). The menu is guided by description and photos, so you really can't go wrong ordering here. To end our meal, we were offered complimentary dessert - yum!

There is always a warmth and friendliness whenever we visit this restaurant. Thank you for your hospitality. We will be back - as always!

Great experience. We ate here tonight with our family and were greeted by happy faces, an extensive menu and a clean and relaxed environment. Our kids loved playing in the kids area and we loved the space that allowed us to enjoy our food and conversation. The food was delicious and fresh - flavours succinct and the service was great.

Felicia and Justin were lovely hosts and we will definitely be back again.

Thank you !

Great to be back!. I regularly went to the old restaurant back in the day, and was heartbroken when I thought they had closed down. I moved back to Sydney a few months ago and every time I drove past the old location, I pined for my favourite indonesian restaurant, completely missing the fact that the same business was back right under my nose - just under a new name and in a revamped space!

With a huge amount of excitement and anticipation I made it to the restaurant last night, and was absolutely thrilled to see some of the old staff still there, still as warm, friendly and accommodating as ever. Felicia, the owner, took the time and the effort to personally greet us and and welcome us to the new space, and her sincerity and thoughfulness was a breath of fresh air. The new space feels modern and airy, with so much more space than before - certainly a very different vibe to the old place, but the people and the food are the same, which are the most important things.

I was briefly worried I was bound to be disappointed, after so much time had passed with such high expectations - but I should never have worried as that was not the case at all. We ordered my old standby favourites - thin noodles with chicken and mushrooms, sate chicken skewers and hainan chicken rice. Everything tasted delicious, just as I remembered it! The peanut sauce with the sate is off the chain, and everything was cooked to perfection. I've always especially loved the soup that comes with the noodles - its a simple clear broth, but so full of flavour and obvious care and love. And all the staff were so genuinely sweet and friendly throughout, I felt right at home again.

In short - go. Go now. Go yesterday. I can't wait to go back! - Danyelle

Flash Advertising. Is Pinang in Malaysia or Indonesia? The menu doesn't give any clues.
Chicken rice was dry. Rice dry. Chicken dry. Soup salty.
Gado Gado was drowned in a very sweet sauce. Where was the nutty flavour in the sauce? Unbalanced ingredients. Almost broke my tooth on the fried onion.... And some other hard object.
Service was ok. Room acoustics didn't allow noise to escape. Don't go there if you want a quiet convo or romantic date.

Great food and Service. My partner and I loved this indonesian restaurant. The food and service was great. Felicia the owner even came out personally to have a chat and give us complimentary deserts. Thankyou so much! We enjoyed our evening and dinner here!

LOVE IT. I love this Indonesian restaurant in Kingsford. They just renovated the place and it is bigger and has kiddy areas. The food as per usual, GREAT. The price is really affordable. I went there today and had 2 noodles with a beer and an ice tea and it costs me $32.
The service was FANTASTIC. The waitstaff was very friendly and helpful.
All and all I am really happy and will def come back

Awesome place!. Pinang bistro was excellent! After an evening of plowing through uni work we went looking for a big feed and they really delivered! I ordered the Nasi Goreng and it was an enormous serving! I couldn't even finish it! Also we were given complimentary prawn chips and dessert! The staff was excellent and our waitress attentive and kind! I can't wait to go back soon

Jack. No good for price. they need to think about the price if they want to survive.

Bakso Goreng is the BEST. Pinangsia Noodle is back and it comes in a form of Pinang Bistro. The name may seem to confuse fellow foodies who keep thinking is this Indonesian or Malaysian. It is by Pinangsia and they are back with some classic thick noodle (favourite) and bakso goreng. Try their bakso goreng + pork mince thick noodle. It's their best dish.
Billy Dwisaputra
It's back!. Pinangsia noodle house was closed for quite a while due to renovations and such, but now, it's back with a new name, Pinang Bistro. Long queues and packed tables are always a promising sign, and in this case, a sign that one of the best Indonesian noodle restaurants has not died yet. Ridiculously cheap prices for an understandably limited menu ($4.50 for a bowl of mie ayam) on their first few days of grand opening is a great way to attract potential new fans, and also long time fans like myself to come back. One tip though, come up with a waiting system so customers don't just stand there looking confused and awkward whilst waiting for their tables
