Great experience! Homey feel and lovely service. The new waiter was in his first day and handled every thing very well, we felt well looked after. Delicious Chinese food. Will be back!

We ordered the lamb ribs and mapo tofu. Generally tasty, although the batter on the ribs was a bit too thick and crunchy, and would've liked more chilli in both.

Spent 24$ on 12 pieces of dumpling and it was really burnt :(. I used to come here all the time and genuinely loved this place. All I could taste was the burnt taste… I got takeout so did not notice the dumplings until I brought it home. I called them up and they first said: this must be ages ago because no one ordered veg. Dumplings. I literally had to tell them multiple times that I came 20 minutes ago and the person with a UNSW hoodie took my order. He then proceeded to say: “oh that must be true then”. They are super inconsiderate and should have accommodated in some way. A literal waste of my money.

Delicious food with generous portions, but during meal time it's hard to get a seat. Come early or late for easier seating. Fried pork bun is definitely worth to try.

This place is an institution in Kingsford. Large servings, good service and ambience here. The dumplings are what you come here for! Definitely a local favourite. You can BYO booze.

My partner and I came here after a seminar at UNSW looking for some good asian food and stumbled across this place after looking at its menu outside. It had a large assortment of classic asian dishes and it seemed like the way to go. We were welcomed and seated pretty quick after entering and the man who served us was very nice. Another man came from nowhere and placed a jug and two cups on our table, we barely saw this guy coz he was real quick. He gave us menus and we were pretty surprised at the prices that were offered. Most of the single meals were around $9-$11 and let me say this before you think that it's not gonna fill you up: it will definitely fill you up. I had the Mongolian lamb with rice, and my girlfriend had the Singapore style fried noodle with pork mince. When the food arrived, I was a little surprised about their plates, which were very different to the usual circular or oval plates, but this was like a rhombus. It sorta made the meal look bigger than it did, but the food tasted good nonetheless. The Mongolian lamb took the cake, simply because it was really well made and the sauce was perfect. The rice however, was dry and could use some work. The texture of it was really lacking and just felt like I was eating something that was cooked a week ago, but reheated for only 30 seconds in the microwave. It was really unfortunate. The portions were good though! We also had ordered the spring pancake, which was essentially a really large spring roll. It sounded really interested as first since they labelled the whole category as pancake, but after seeing it, it's not that special. It was really oily too, which was a big turn off, but it tasted alright. Since we ordered a dish more than we could finish, we asked for some takeaway containers. I'm glad that they had given it free of charge, since many other asian restaurants tend to charge upwards of a dollar for one. This place would probably suit uni students struggling to make a decent income while studying, considering its cheaper than usual prices and well portioned meals. I'd probably return to try something different next time.

Busy cash only little place competing for business along Kingsfords’ Asian food strip. Decor is basic but the service is fast & the food is very nice. The hand made noodles are a highlight & the steamed dumplings hit the spot but I’d also like to try the boiled & fried varieties because they looked good as well. Apart from noodles & dumplings there’s a wide variety of other tasty & spicy meals on offer & the pancakes being ordered looked rather inviting too.

Seafood rice had no seafood. They chop up a fake seafood stick and call it seafood fried rice. Not one prawn or anything from the ocean for 18.80

Great place to come to if you want a quick, cheap and tasty meal. It’s also BYO which is an added bonus. We always get the sweet chilli eggplant, Shanghai noodle and boiled dumplings. Overall great place but service is lacking.

This place is great value. We bought the fried hand shredded Chinese cabbage, Thai fried rice, Northern Style, and combination (prawn, egg and pork) dumplings. The Northern Style dumplings are a must have! All of this cost $41.90 and the portions are very generous. Food is timely served, and service is friendly.

Great food at unbelievable value. I got pan fried dumplings – Northen style (pork and chive). 12 of these delicious dumplings for $9.50. Comes with chili oil and Chinese tea. The crunch on these dumplings was unbelievable! I’ll definitely be back for more. Decent amount of seating for small/medium sized groups. Pretty good ambiance for a casual place.

4.5/5

I've started coming to this place since early uni days, can say i've been here more than 10 times :)
If you're after high quality and service, this will not be the place.

However food is delicious and cheap (where else can you get 16 pieces of dumplings for 10 dollars?!). My favourite is northern style and the pan fried dumplings. They are juicy, cooked well and perfect with the chilli oil and vinegar. The pan fried base is crispy.

Shallot pancakes are fried, slightly greasy but has a nice texture, and generously portioned.

I've not tried anything else yet apart from the dumplings and shallot pancakes.

Dumpling Haven ~ If you are crazy about dumplings like me, head to this cosy eatery on Anzac Parade.

You enter the place and are welcomed with a smile and aromatic flavours calling out to you. I have been here thrice and have stuffed myself up with dumplings each time.

Their Northern Style steamed and Chicken & chives steamed are delicious. I'll soon head back for their other tempting dishes.

Good going guys!

Could safely say that they serve the best dumpling in Kingsford! Believe me, my friend and I has this love for dumpling and we tried all the restaurants (that i know of) that serves dumpling in Kingsford. My go-to is always their northern style boiled & pan fried dumpling. The skin of the dumpling is just the right amount of thickness and chewiness and not to mention the filling is just simply delicious! What I love most about their dumpling is the fact they still have the soup inside the dumpling which makes it feel like you're eating xiao long bao haha. However, I never really tried other menus in this restaurant. So far, I've only tried one of their noodles and the pancake and both were disappointing. But would definitely 100% recommend their dumplings!

Does what it says on the tin at bloody good price. 50 dollars for 2 people and you will walk out stuffed. Great cheap grub.

Noodles are probably the highlight dish for me.

Peking Duck was good worth the price ($22), hoisin sauce was weird as it was salty, expect should be sweet. Fish was pretty good, pretty recommended.

Pretty tasty food and cheap. Very good value: we had vege rice noodle stir fry, using with chicken and black pepper and steamed vegetable dumplings. As mentioned it was tasty and had a good amount of a good mix of veges (for reference, I have had chow mein with unfried potato chips in it, this place is the polar opposite!)

Love this place. We always order special dumplings, chive pancake, sizzling hot plate, egg plant and a few other things. Sometimes we wait but pricing is good and portion is good. I'm rating it on food and I the food is 👍👍

Ordered xiao lung bao and the sliced noodle with chicken at 2.15pm sunday, left the restaurant at 3.00pm and the food is not served. Asked about the order at 2.45 says its coming, 3.00pm we're changing restaurant.
Nina
My husband and I just waited 40mins for a steamed bun and stir fried noodle!! And the food wasnt ready by the time we left. 40 minutes!! It's 2.30pm on Sunday. Not even lunch time. I don't suggest you to try there unless you have plenty of time to wait.

I'm not really a huge fan of Asian cuisines - but dumplings are so comforting! Steamed, boiled and fried, I loved the crunchy bases on this dipped on chili sauce and soy sauce.

We waited for almost two hours for a plate of dumplings that we literally saw get served several times to tables of people that came after us. I've eaten here a couple of times before - the place does have good food, but this time, they've gone too far and the wait was just unreasonable. People have come after us, eaten, and left. If there was a 0, I'd give it a 0. This is just horrible service, and I'm probably not coming back here again.

I have been here multiple times. The dumplings and dumpling noodle soup are just delicious! The dumplings are always so fresh and vibrant. Prices are reasonable, staff are friendly and despite always being busy Ice never felt pressured to leave quickly.
Angie
Loved this place!
Ordered a few dishes including dumplings (prawn & pork), satay chicken with rice & beans with pork mince and totally hit the spot!
Food comes out fairly quickly, super tasty and service was quite friendly overall.
Would definitely try again!

the atmosphere is great and the food was okay. what's nice about the first visit i had here is that i have good company and a crash course in mandarin. lol but it was fun and the food we ordered arrived quickly. we had some dumplings, noodles, sweet sour fried chicken i think, mushrooms and broccoli, tofu with fish on top. the taste was sort of bland but some has nice sauce. 5/10 rates

I stopped in for a bite to eat, I do like dumplings. With a Kylie Kwong write up in the window at the front of the restaurant. I figured this place would be worth a try. I ordered the hand made szechuan noodles with pork and bean sauce. The noodles had a great texture however the pork and bean sauce was cold which was a bit of a let down. I strirred the sauce through the hot noodles which made it a little better. With the restaurant having dumpling in the name, I decided to order some dumplings, I ordered the dumplings called the pan fried three fresh delacacies dumplings filled with pork egg and prawn. These dumplings were nice enough, with a nice soup inside the dumpling. These dumplings were just tossed onto the plate, with no care for presentation. I also ordered the stramed duck flavoured meat bun. The buns were dry and were not very flavoursome. The only real positive I could draw from this dining experience were the handmade noodles.

I love this as a place to come with friends for a very relaxed and easy meal.
The steamed prawn and steamed vegetable dumplings are really good.
Free BYO as well is good for a meal before a night out!

A good no hassle restaurant for those on a budget, I know it gets mixed reviews but the food is actually quite good

I was intrigued as I walked past this restaurant as it was recommended by Kylie Kwong and was also in Sydneys Good Food Guide.

We ordered the northern style pan fried dumplings, steamed triple delicacy dumplings, the squid, prawn and chicken stir fry and the hand-made zha jiang mian (pork mince noodles). I like to try and focus on positives but the only positives were that the hand made noodles are quite good and the price was quite affordable.

The noodle sauce was way too thick and had a very pungent sesame/nutty smell. The pan-fried dumplings were drenched in oil. The steamed dumplings were tremendously overcooked. As the stir fry (which was a recommended special) arrived at the table, I thought surely this is going to be quite good as the presentation was quite nice. Turns out, all though stir fried well to preserve the right textures, it was just laden with chicken bullion powder (aka MSG). Also tremendously disappointed that every dish had too generous a helping of salt.

This is possibly one of the most disappointing meals I've had in Sydney but to add salt to the wounds, the service staff were tremendously rude. I don't expect service in restaurants such as these but my tolerance is reached when I have to ask for something multiple times, when the waitress unapologetically knocks me over each time she passes by as there just isn't enough space in the restaurant (all in the name of profit) and they were also really rude and impatient while taking orders. In such a competitive industry, it does not need to be said that every experience counts and there are much much better restaurants in the Kingsford area. I don't often write bad reviews but exception to the rule today. Avoid this joint like the plague!

Worst food I have ever eaten. Mongolian Beef was completely drained in oil and you couldn't taste anything else. The fried duck pretty much consisted of a plate of bones with the tiniest bit of meat ( they have the nerve to charge 22 dollars ). Girlfriend got her food together with the appetizer and I got my duck about 40 minutes later. When I mentioned the state of the food to the waiter she didnt give two shits and just told me the billing total.
The worst xiao long bao I have ever had in my life and I've had a fair few. It was very dry, dehydrated and shriveled. Tasted like rubber in my mouth. Ordered the hot sour soup noodles with dumplings but ended up with just sour dumplings and no noodles. Pan fried pork buns ended up just being dough. Could not taste the juices that you would normally get when you sink your teeth into it. Service was horrendous. I'm not a large individual but was knocked by a waitress not once but twice whilst eating. Would not recommend this place to anyone I cared about. Would however bring my enemies around for dinner in the hopes of poisoning them. HIGHLY unrecommended, don't step into the shop!! If you do do it at your own peril. I warned you!

Disgusting. WILL NEVER COME BACK.

I went here last night and was less than impressed.

Combination fried rice was soggy rice with little to no egg/prawn. Was tasteless.

The steamed dumpling--> the worst i have EVER had. I ate 3 and left 14 remaining.

I wouldn't even feed it to a dog. They were not fresh and tasted like they were from a supermarket frozen packet- BUT WORSE!!

Waste of money.

ALSO the service is terrible. Majorly lacking common sense

Tossed jellyfish with cucumber... It is common with Chinese cuisine to begin with a cold dish. This is one of LeeLoo and Tommy H’s favourite cold dishes. The jellyfish and cucumber are drenched in a salted vinegar sauce.

The noodles arrive first, which is good because they are my favourite. They are thick and doughy and come in irregular shapes because they are indeed hand-made. They also have some bite to them. The beef is juicy and the dish has carrots, greens, cabbage and Chinese black mushrooms all of which give it an interesting texture. It’s not an oily dish and I could eat it a few times a week.

I'd heard from a few people that there are a couple of fabulous dumpling eateries in Kingsford, and that the Chinese Dumpling and Noodle House ('CDNH') was one of them - that, in fact, Kylie Kwong recommended eating there. Just like the other Asian eateries around the area, CDNH is extremely casual and pretty much like your local Chinese takeaway shop. The portions are generous, the prices very low, and the flavours a bit hit and miss. CDNH's facade itself is pretty inconspicuous, blending in amongst its competitors, so look out for the big red sign.
I can see why this place has stood the test of time--good food at a very cheap price...I had change from a $20!!! (for the two of us) :) Must go back to try the noodles...
Saturday morning Chinese dumplings (but no noodles) at Chinese Dumpling and Noodle House at that bottomless well of choice in Kingsford.

Worst of everything. The absolute worst Chinese food my family and I have eaten.
First it took 15 mins just to have our order taken (for takeaway), then advised it would take 20 minutes to cook. I had 2 very hungry children, so took the gamble on 20 mins.. 55 mins later we finally received our mediocre food. Got home and dished up to find the rice had rotten pineapple in it (it was grey and had oxidized in the tin) and made us so sick. The food was very oily and the dumplings weren't cooked right through. Couldn't even eat it after the pineapple incident. Waste of $80...! Ended up taking the rice dish back as I wanted the chef to see it. They took it and threw it away and refunded my $7 or so for the dish- didn't even have any concern that the food was rotten.
Will never ever buy from here again..

Authentic typical Chinese restaurant. I've been here a few times (my friends chose it) and found that it's just like a typical restaurant in China. Unfortunately, typical Chinese restaurants are not good, at least by Western standards. Whilst the ceiling is adorned with masks from the Peking Opera, the only decoration on the walls is an unsightly mess of concert advertisements, most of which are out of date. The staff wear shabby street clothes, the tables have no tablecloths and patrons are given plastic children's cups, with the rims touched by a waiter, and lukewarm water in a plastic jug/bottle hybrid. The bathroom is a single outhouse in the backyard, accessible only by walking through the middle of a cramped kitchen that will likely put you off your food.

The bill is always indecipherable scribble, written entirely in Chinese. Despite using numbers for the hundreds of items on the menu, the staff still supposedly make "mistakes" - they once gave us food that we didn't order then returned 5 minutes later to demand we pay for it. Another time, they simply didn't cook half of our order.

Diners with good taste beware; this is very much a low-budget, unscrupulous establishment.

Best dumplings in the East!. Fantastic dumplings and for a great price. Duck pancakes and deep fried Peking sauce beef are also excellent. May not have the modern fit out but looks can be deceiving!

Not sure if they were having a bad night but we had to wait 50 mins for our food despite calling ahead our order

Pan fried pork and chive dumplings. Delicious.

THEY DO NOT DELIVER THE MENU LIES!!!!!!

Still the place to go when I get the dumplings cravings ! The hand made noodles are good but can be inconsistent. Try hot and sour soup on those cold winter days

Chinese Dumpling & Noodle House. Service was friendly, food was nice and reasonably priced. This place looks to be quite popular with the local university students and we can see why.

Don't expect the decor of a hatted restaurant. This place isn't anything to look at, but the food is nice and I guess that is what matters most.

We had the Mabo Tofu which was delicious. The Northern Style Boiled Dumplings were also lovely and the shredded pork, not too bad.

Overall, nothing flash but a nice place for a quick bite to eat. With over 200 items on the menu, you'll be sure to find something that tickles your fancy.
