Review Passionflower - Kingsford

Lovely dessert place. All types of delicious ice cream, waffles, and more! They have specials regularly so keep an eye out for that, since prices tend to be on the higher end. Lovely interior decor. Also free wifi.

Perfect place to come for desert after a nice meal in Kingsford. They have a great selection of deserts, from mixed platters, waffles, crepes, drinks, shaved ice and ice creams. The atmosphere is nice and light and the staff are very helpful and friendly 🍧🍹đŸč

You know, I've never had a bad dessert at this place, though I could have just been choosing carefully. The chocolate ice-cream in a come or a cup is still the best. Their other ice-cream is ok, but I come here exclusively for the chocolate. The egg waffles (from Hong Kong) are petty good and make a nice change from regular waffles. Staff are nice and the evening atmosphere is relaxing and chill. Recommend +++

Icecream was grainy, the flavour was ok. Paid $5 more to sit and eat icecream rather than take away which I only realised after paying via tap. So sat down to eat an icecream cone and the inside is a bit run down so it wasn't actually a pleasant experience. We were sitting on Christmas paper which covered the seats. Weird.

The atmosphere of the restaurant was relaxing but retro, anyone could tell it was well looked after. Although: Service: There was only one staff member working, who was both the waiter and the chef. Quite disappointing as this completely ruined my experience. Price: Dishes and drinks were overpriced, once again, disappointing for the quality of food. Food: Chocolate Waffles The presentation was absolutely gorgeous and unique, but when I took my first bite, I noticed it was chewy, plain, and cold. The serving sizes are average, not very lenient on the chocolate shot glasses that come with the waffles. Iced Matcha Latte Presentation was average. As for the taste, I felt like I had bought milk with green dye in it. There was no matcha taste whatsoever, and besides that, the drink was lukewarm and the ice cubes had already melted. Food that my friends had: Hot Chocolate My friend stated that it was overpriced, and was lukewarm. Iced Lemon Tea This drink was exceptionally flavoured and nice, I enjoyed it myself just as much as my friends did. Final comments: I'd come back to this place maybe to try the drinks, although I've already been turned off by the food I received today.

Mixed feelings about this place. Half the staff were great and the other half were meh. The seats are super worn out and the ceiling is super dusty and gross. Everything feels cheap especially the cutlery. But... The strawberry waffles with chocolate and coconut ice cream was pretty good!

This whole place is worn out, especially the seatings. Not what it used to be. I can only sense sadness in this place :( They also give smaller scoops for the same price - bad value for money.

what a amazing selection of desserts they have :) Definitely a must if you love dessert bars . Everything was so fresh and delicious nice atmosphere lovely staff :) the sticky date pudding which was absolutely delightful Needs a interior upgrade though .

Nothing special about this place - the menu makes everything look good but the actual dessert itself is pretty mediocre. There are definitely more interesting dessert places in Sydney.

Disappointing recent visit. In the past I had known passionflower for their enjoyable selection of asian flavoured ice cream.
Ordered thai tea, texture was grainy, soft and had bits of overexposed/old ice cream that was sticky in texture.
Regret.

Real rating: 6.5/10

Caramel banana waffle was alright as a dessert. Banana was caramelised well. Ice cream however average. With better ice cream this could have been a nice dessert

Have been here countless times since it is close to UNSW. Surprisingly I don't have many photos. Some of my favourite flavours are Thai milk tea, lychee rose and durian. There are so many good options and you can get one or two scoops or like 20!

They've been changing the menu over the years which is very nice to see. Even more recently they have added the Hong Kong bubble waffle to their menu. One of them was nice and crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside but another one was way overcooked.

I haven't had problems with the service but the interior definitely needs some revamping.

Look at the picture. 24 scoops of flavour. You get to choose from a variety of flavours to make up your favourite 24 scoops. You need a team to finish it. I liked most of the flavours. It is like everyone’s palate gets satisfied.

Such a nice place to grab dessert, the people are nice and the food is always great there, either get the ice cream and crepes are nice! The crepes are soft and warm with a side of ice cream is the perfect combination

Amazing selection of desserts! My go to place for sugar cravings.

Highlight: Chocolate crĂȘpes stuffed with bananas, chocolate mousse, hazelnut sauce, hazelnut ice cream and strawberries.

Walked in at 11pm on a Sturday ... party of 5. Was told that they are closed...after explaining to them that their website states that they close at 1am, they agreed to sell us take away only. After questioning them again about their stated 1am closing time, they let us sit....but then refused to make coffee.
Just an other typical dishonest store...advertise lies to get you in the door then tell YOU what you can have and have not...and when you can have it or not have it.

Rude staff. Would not go back again unless they change staff. They were talking behind our back in Chinese thinking we can’t hear them or we don’t know their language.
Food wise it’s good. Wouldn’t say it’s the best but it’s a good place to stop if you just want desserts after a meal.
Naomi Wu
They have great range of desserts, I love how they have durian ice cream because it’s super hard to get. I have been here couple times and I always enjoyed my time. It’s a great hangout place with my friends.

Service and food is great. Prices have increased too over the years. Has a wide range of various desserts available. Not overly sweet as well. Great place to come with friends.

Omg yumm! This place is delicious and so much lighter than max brenner. If you’re craving something naughty/sweet this place is a must! You can’t go past the crepes or pancakes.

Passionflower is a lovely dessert place located in the heart of Kingsford.

I’ve come here a few times and it’s never failed to disappoint. A huge selection of different desserts and plenty of seating! Definitely a must try place if you’re in the area and are craving dessert đŸ€Ș

Food recommendation: banana crepes🍌

Good dessert place near UNSW, and has a great variety of desserts. Every passionflower seems to have a different menu depending on their franchisees and this one sports a black sesame icecream as its most popular item. The desserts are a bit expensice so this would be a sort of occasional place to come to, but its yummy, looks pretty, and the place is a good atmosphere for catch ups with friends.

This is my favourite dessert or ice cream place. This dessert chain was before gelatissimo was around so it was pretty good. My favourite of course the durian ice cream. When I crave durian, I usually come and eat here. At least I won’t make my car or my house smell but I still can enjoy.
Syara Ann
Had the specials which was choc souffle and sticky date pudding. It was incredibly good! Price not too expensive and the durian ice cream taste amazing! Definetely will be backđŸ€€đŸ€€

One of our go to dessert places during uni days, can't believe this is the only passionflower left in Sydney!

We got our ice-cream bowls, it's pretty good price for the amount they give us. The chocolate fudge brownie was rich and decadent, brownies was a bit hard (like they've put it in fridge for a while), but i didn't mind it too much.

The flavours they offer is also very diverse. Lychee rose was very refreshing and the salted caramel is nice too. They also have plenty of seats, and don't mind you sitting them for a long long time.
HungryBabesSugarApe
I really don’t like giving low scores but I feel the prices do not reflect the value of the product. Yes it’s tasty, just wish there was more of it!

Had the black sesame for take away. Barely enough to satisfy the trip across town!
Miffy7
We were in the area and decided to enjoy some ice cream as it was a hot day.

I was craving some Asian flavours so I chose double happiness which had matcha and red bean ice cream with mochi and red bean paste on the side. My son went for his fav strawberry ice cream in a waffle basket and husband chose their super duper brownie which consisted of white choc, choc and caramel ice cream with brownie pieces. We also ordered a side of their sesame seed Mochi which was nice.

Friendly service and while the price is on the high side, it’s worth trying.
Hungrycatherine
Passionflower has my favorite ice cream flavor ever, lychee rose! I ordered two scoops in a cup for $6.50. My partner ordered the expresso flavor and he loved it.

This place has a lot of seating to enjoy ice cream and dessert with friends on a hot day!

My fav Asian ice cream flavour in Sydney!! Tried their durian, taro, Pandan , azuki bean and sticky rice ice cream.. my fav one is the sticky rice.. the black sesame also their popular flavour but today I don’t want to try that one.. too often with that flavour..
Tanya
Came here with a groupon and ordered their banana waffles and secret treasures crepe. We got taro and black sesame ice cream with the waffles and they were really good. The green tea and sticky rice ice cream was also delicious. The biggest let down was the service and inefficiency of our food. We watched our banana waffles sit there on their table for a good 10-15 minutes while they took more orders and took cash from people at the register. So many hands went over our waffles and it came really soggy. The waitress finally brought over our waffles and said she would replace the top waffle. It didn’t really help since all the bottom waffles were really soggy and cold. She also told us at the end that we had to pay an additional $2 for the premium ice cream instead of telling us from the start that this was not included in the groupon. Overall, very bad service and long wait time which really put us off the experience.
Pam
Premium flavours have a surcharge which sucks as two scoops in a cone is nearly $10. So not the cheapest place.

However they offer a good range including taro, black sesame and pandan! Really creamy and delicious.
Xylenn Fellycia Sartika
Love the variety of asian flavours ranging from pandan, thai milk tea, black sesame and azuki infused in their ice cream. Nice, comfy place open to hangout with your friends until 1 AM.
Fun Date Ideas
Want to skip dinner and get straight to dessert? Then make Passionflower your first stop for a fun date idea. You could be forgiven for thinking this is just another ice cream shop as you walk past. However actually walking past this place is unforgivable, because you need to know this isn’t just another ice cream shop.Sure they do the classics; they’ve got waffles, crĂȘpe, sundaes etc. But actually what makes this place unique is what they’ve done with the classics. Like chocolate crĂȘpes? Well there’s a pretty good chance you’ll love the surprise chocolate mousse and strawberries hidden inside the rolled up crĂȘpe. Same goes for the sundaes, when you order a cookies and cream sundae, as well as delicious cookies and cream ice cream, you’ll find actual whipped cream on top and an actual yummy cookie sitting on the bottom of your sundae. If you are brave enough you can really mess with the classics and order a sundae with exotic flavours such as black sesame, durian or even sticky rice. As a result taking someone here for a romantic date will cater for both the adventurous and traditional sweet teeth of the world. Serving sizes are also perfectly suited for two because finishing one of these by yourself is an impressive feat.

I am heading up to Sydney on the weekend and am already planning all the old favourites I'm going to revisit. Passionflower was one of those random discoveries that I happened on years ago and I swiftly found myself addicted to their strawberry waffle. There's actually nothing like melted chocolate. I could literally drink it by the cupful. Poured over a warm waffle with delicious vanilla ice cream is pretty hard to beat. Unfortunately the branches of Passionflower in Melbourne have all closed so I'll be getting my fix in a few days and I'm looking forward to trying something different this time. The crepes are right at the top of the list
Cooksie
Went here after dinner ordered the waffles pancake with coconut and chocolate ice cream and the Chocolate dip with fruit. Banana and kiwifruit, Honey and Banana Milkshake

One of my go-to icecream/dessert bars! I love the huge range of icecream flavours (I come here so often I have probably tried most of the flavours already) ❀ Also tried their egg waffle range which complimented the icecream nicely!

A cute dessert bar on Anzac Parade Kingsford serves a variety of desserts, such as icecream bowls, crepes, pancakes and waffles. The service is very friendly however can be a bit slower due to short staff.

They are accomodating and happy to make cute coffee art for patrons. Ours was a cute bear in a green matcha latte to pair with our dessert. Our dessert was the strawberry pancakes which also come with vanilla ice cream. It's a stock standard dessert but it hit the spot.
Lily
Their lychee rose ice cream is the best ice cream flavour I've ever had. My favourite order is always the Geisha San, which has a combination of green tea and lychee rose ice creams. Service could be better though.
Tiffany So
Cosy place, always have seats to accommodate chill dessert time. Discounts for pancake, waffles and crepe are on from Monday to Wednesday (as I remember). Icecreams are good, $1 choco-filled pancake is surprisingly nomz!

My favorite dessert shop in Kingsford. Excellent service and yummy food. The new flavor Nutella was amazing and the Belgium chocolate flavor was pure. I love the savory crepe as well! They also have the promotion o Instagram. I hope I can get those cute cups!!!đŸ€“

My favourite ice cream flavour is brown sticky rice and there are only a few places in Sydney that does this, Passionflower being one of them. So delicious and really nice with the matcha icecream on a crunchy waffle cone!
Minhas Khais
Being a Waffle and Pancake lover, this place is highly recommended. Anzac Parade really needed a place like this. If u don't compare his place with Pancake on the rocks, you will definitely like this place.
Melisa
Yay I love this ice cream/ dessert heaven. Located in the city of Kingsford ( you will find this so closed to any of my fav resto haha such as Ayam Goreng 99/ Albee’s kitchen/ Chinese Kingsford/ Niji Sushi etc..

Anyway this place closed to midnight as well. They serve so many flavours ( they also have premium one I.e durian, black sesame, taro etc.. ) check out this store. Best customer service; nice green tea latte too. Good place to chit chat. ;D
Dessert Pirate
First come to mind is the price, it's very expensive. It's a good place to hang around and chat with dessert. Not recommended to come here if you would like to indulge yourself.
Fattyyy
Passionflower is run with profit being the only thing on their mind. No split bills, the attitude to match, and somewhat expensive prices for nothing too special. Their airconditioning was also malfunctioning so didn't make for much of a comfortable visit. I wouldn't really come here again, I'd rather a max brenner or oliver brown

Great place for an afternoon break near uni. Nothing is particularly special but everything is at it's right place, the cafe is tidy and comfortable for small group meeting as well. I think they do have the best pancakes and waffles around UNSW and they are like giving off nutella pancakes like free. The drinks might be a little bit weird but still good.

Yes expensive just Only for ice cream
But i Dont have no choice hehehe
2 glasses of ice cream for 30$ something
Okay... So far I still like it
But I just wanna say , it's not worth it with the price :)
Some really great, interesting flavours here including lychee rose and black sesame among others. Along with the lychee rose, the green tea ice cream is delicious and they complement each other beautifully. I've tried some of the other Western flavours and they're okay, nothing special. Passionflower is a touch exxy, but students get 15% off which is great. I definitely recommend for the eastern flavoured ice cream, but go to Messina or Cow and Moon for your standard Western flavours.

Went after a warm day with quite a large group of friends and find that the place was great to come and chill. The 'Lasting Love' was really nice and sweet making it very refreshing, perfect for a hot day.
Anna Belle
This is a great spot to chill-out with friends after uni over ice cream. The service has been pretty good, and the servings are generous, especially great value for their sundae waffle cones to share. Some great flavours are the thai milk tea, black sesame and green tea, however these are usually the premium flavours which are a dollar or so extra. The waffles here are pretty decent as well and I like how they make the waffles fresh to order. It's great to snag them when they have deals like $10 on a particular day.

You’ve been out ALL night with friends at Luna Park going on all the rides you possibly can without throwing up. Get ice cream of course!. I’m loving the late night icecream scene. Now this post has to come with a warning. Passionflower make GIGANTIC sundaes. I’m not kidding.. There is one there called the Mission Impossible that has 13 scoops of icecream! 13! And before you think that doesn’t sound that bad – Passionflower’s scoops of icecream are very generous.

came in last week on a tuesday if i remember correctly...
they decided to close the kitchen early. maybe about 15 minutes early. well. thats the time i got there. they seemed to be closed before i got there. i drove 40 minutes there for ice cream. they refused to serve me as they explained that they had closed the kitchen early. it's ice cream. it is not that hard to scoop. i told them i would even settle for a single scoop in a cone or cup and i would leave. but they further told me that they had cashed the till. i offered to pay by card or cash and they still denied. the least they couldv'e done for my trouble and their fault for closing early would be to give me one free scoop of ice cream if it was that hard to take my money. but no. they just sent me away and tried to turn me to other shops which had closed by then (the reason i drove 40minutes to THEIR shop). meanwhile, i have frequented this shop a lot and spent a fair amount of money there, as their desserts are somewhat over priced, i wear the cost as i enjoy sitting down for dessert in a not-so-busy place. however, since this incident. which, funny enough, i have been turned away from them before for being 5 minutes over their kitchen closing time, i decided that i would travel to brighton le sands for dessert instead in future.
Pollo_pesce_me
I love passionflower ice creams they are little pricy but their selection of ice creams are unique and desserts are amazing. I especially love the sticky rice and the saseme seed ice cream.
Coco & Vv, Food Experts
I love coming here whenever I feel like a different type of dessert, other than just plain ice cream in a cone or cup. The pricing is expensive but its worth it if you order the right thing.
The portions are quite big and majority of the desserts they make, are delicious!
The only negative is the different pricing for takeaway and dine-in. The drinks are around $1.50-$2 cheaper if you took it away than dined in!
Other than that, I love coming to passionflower, especially in summer
62totheworld
I live closed by,its expensive?is there anyone think the same?not worth it.i would rather travel to city to try new places instead of here.coffees its okay very cheap for take away.

From top left, coconut, marbled crunch, bottom left, Thai tea and black sesame. Thai tea tasted a bit like not so sweet milk tea, and coconut actually dessicated coconut in it. Love passionflower.
Food Booze Shoes
Their sundaes and waffles are legendary, and so too the rich chocolate on chocolate on chocolate crepes, with chocolate ice cream and molten liquid chocolate on a chocolate crepe with chopped strawberries for freshness.
Jackson
So expensive!! $15.50 for a 3 scoops with some sauce and Jelly! Sam price for two crepes with cheap chocolate sauce. The black sesame and green tea icecrem flavours were too milky and with no flavour. Def not the same as the passionflower from when it opened years ago...cost cutting on ingredients and increases in prices have really put me too this place now

Red bean banana crepe. Generous serve of 2 green tea ice creams with red bean crepe and fresh banana. Generally quite pricey. Pleasant staff, but how do you eat icecream with a knife and fork?
Need to vacuum the wall decor!
Joanna Gisela
Excellent service, good food great place.

Generous. I prefer this store to the capitol one in the city. Service was nice, music was good and portions were generous. Was delighted.
Verytastyverysweettoo
Lovely. Very generous with the ice cream scoops and the portion sizes. Loved it.

Self Indulgence. It's always hard for me to choose which ice cream to goes with everytime i walked in the shop, it's just super good!!
love the pancakes
Horibop_amiz
Not quite bay vista but close. Passionflower for me is just like bay vista in Brighton - Le Sands but not as good, I had the cookies and cream ice cream with chocolate sauce, it was average, nothing too special, however my friends got the chocolate ice cream bowl I believe and they loved it, it was very nice

:)
