Review Street Market Asian Tapas Restaurant - Kirribilli

Great little restaurant, can get very busy at dinner time. Food is cooked fresh, decent collection of gluten free & vegetarian options. Staff are lovely, the leave you alone unless you need them, I ordered something with prawns in (I'm allergic) they changed it no questions asked.

Been here twice. One for my wedding after-party and one for my one-year anniversary. The food is super tasty and the vibe there is nice.
Jennifer
Food was delicious and tasty, flavours are very close to original Asian style. Staff are friendly.

Really good and friendly staff, kinda small servings for the $$

Enjoyed the food and service... it would be great if the portion was more than they served 🙂

Food served here is perfect as this was my 4th visit to this restaurant at Kirribilli and crows nest together. A young guy named Abhishek who works there as a manager is very genuine, honest and has a good customer skills. He never fails the restaurant through his way of service and hospitality. 5/5 for food & drinks, 5/5 for customer service. Kudos to all the tapas team. Definitely Will visit again!

I was there on the weekend. The food was amazing and the presentation was outstanding. The staffs were friendly, was delighted by their service. Would definitely visit again. Whenever you are around the area, you mustn't miss this place.

I usually come here with friends from work on a Friday at lunch. With obviously different staff. Decided to book for dinner with my boyfriend, we were delighted at first, as the food is amazing, however we were sitting there for a solid 30 minutes with no service this includes dirty dishes on our table. One staff member walked past four times looking at our table every time and decided not to do anything, to only return to the front register and stand there doing nothing. I'm am disgusted that the staff do not take care of their customers, as we were eager to purchase more food we decided to just leave and go elsewhere. Wouldn't recommend if you're going for dinner, but the lunch staff are always pleasant to be around

Thank you so much for your great food and service yesterday for my daughters 15th birthday. It was great to expose our kids to many different types of delicious food. Well worth the drive.

Booked here for my sister's hens and we had a great time! Staff, especially Nara, were so helpful and attentive from answering all my questions when I booked and throughout the evening. The food was lovely, came out very quickly, good value and the vibe of the place is great. Found this place completely by accident on the internet and gave it a shot...we were not disappointed! Thank you for everything...I hope to be back again soon :)

Such a great selection of food, absolutely loved it!

45 minutes later and we hadn't even gotten half the food we ordered...don't understand why grilling an eggplant would take up to an hour but ok?
Chris Ortiz
Great change up for tapas - loved the Salmon Skewers, Grilled Eggplant, Satay Dip and Seaweed Salad. Great price and friendly service. We will be back.

Beautiful food & atmosphere! Thank you

Typically excellent. Favourite with the locals.

We have been to the street market in crows nest a few times over the past few weeks and its become one of our favourite gems of crows nest. The food matches the service which is impeccable and it doesn't hurt your pocket either - we just got home and we're already planning to go back on Monday. Special thanks to Chloe and Rachel who have made us smile every time we have been.

I was not too happy with the service here considering it took over half an hour for me to receive 2 drinks that were ordered. I placed a second order about 5 minutes after for 2 more cocktails and dessert buns. I had to cancel the two cocktails and the dessert however coincidentally shortly after cancelling the dessert was ready.

The flavours were medicore, the bread as drier than others that i've had before. I can see alot of room for improvement at this restaurant.

The best Asian street food with a fusion twist. The soft shell crab is the best. Every dish is amazing. I used to live next to this place and it was a twice a week visit. The owner is a lovely guy. Can’t wait to go back!

This restaurant has quite a nice location and atmosphere. However I️ recommend booking in advance as we had to squish three people on a tiny table which was awkward. The food look a long time to come- around 30/40 mins which was surprising as I️ only ordered vegetables/vegan food. The actual food was tasty and great. Overall nice experience but the waiting time was too long.

Loved the food. The outside sitting area is really nice and cosy.
The staff is friendly and helpful.

We ordered Roti Chennai , asian stir fry and Fried Rice. All 3 dishes were amazing.

Would definitely recoomed this place.

Good venue ( but maybe too much like the real Asia), friendly staff, nice outlook - but over sauced, over cooked food. This is our second visit ( I could not convince my wife that we had been before - hence this review) but there won't be a third.

I suspect the food is par cooked or resides in a bain-marie as it appears very quickly. If you want a nice outlook, good service and are happy with food court style food you may enjoy this place - but you won't see me there
Steve Miles
Nice verandah, internal decoration reminiscent of an asian street, friendly staff but overcooked, over sauced food. We have tried this place twice but won't be going for the trifecta.

Service is quick and I expect that much of the food is par cooked hence the disappointing quality. This
place just needs a new chef and it would be great

Tried out Street Market for dinner. It's basically Asian tapas with what I'd call modern Asian as some dishes were unique (grilled salmon on a satay stick).

Great customer service and the food were ready very quickly (5 minutes after we ordered) even though it was a busy public holiday.

Below are the dishes we had... They were all extremely delicious.
Spicy chicken San choy bao in lettuce
Steamed Barramundi fillet with ginger, soy and shallots
Honey soy crusted tofu, gluten free & vegetarian
Grilled oysters with garlic butter
Char grilled salmon skewer with sweet soy mayo
Char grilled eggplant with soy miso glaze

I'll be coming back soon with friends to try out more of their amazing dishes soon!

Nice food. Friendly service. Quite a few gluten free options. Lovely out on the deck. Would def go again. Ribs were the standout (not GF). Well priced

Went there on a sat night, after trying to decide what to have in Kiribilli area. Was a pleasant surprise as it's Asian fusion cuisine so something different from the numerous Thai, Chinese, Malay and other restaurants. Had the crispy chicken with kimchi Mayo, was perfect. Also had the custard buns with crushed peanuts and condensed milk, was also a delight. They didn't have the steam dumplings available for dinner, so had the fried dumplings instead, was fine. Food, ambience, decor and service was excellent, although a bit on price side, however given its location it's not a surprise.

Such a refreshing option in Kirribilli from all the Thai restaurants. Has a small tapas like menu with Asian inspiration. The fried calamari, fried chicken, roti with satay sauce and roast pork belly pancakes were all delish! Monday and Tuesday = $10 on all tapas (cash only) which is a great deal. And on the weekend does good yum cha - not as extensive a yum cha menu as normal but has the faves - pork buns, prawn dumplings etc. Cool interior and friendly staff. Nice place for dinner and lunch!!
Niki
A great experience. Casual & chic. The asian tapas menu is well thought out and all preparations are with a nice twist that make it different. We had Roti Chennai... Oysters... Chicken San Choi.... Tofu... the Banana Fritters are a must try! The ambiance is very relaxing and lively with excellent service. A great hidden find in Kirribilli that I found by accident but will be frequenting - with my girlfriends!

Now here is something new, fresh off their dessert menu. Asian style churros, roti served with a soft coconut caramel and chocolate dipping sauce. Its different and it is fantastic!!

Street Market Asian Tapas is the ultimate Asian Fusion for yuppies. Street Market Asian Tapas is located in Kirribilli, not far from the station. A favourite of a lot of foodies is nem nuong which is the Vietnamese meat skewer. At $9, the Vietnamese style pork minced skewer was delicious! A little bit pricey but delicious. Next up was the Char-grilled Eggplant with soy miso glaze. which was not bad. It doesn't quite compare to the eggplant at Chinese Noodle Restaurant in China Town but that particular eggplant is perfection. The egg plant at Street Market Asian tapas was still nice with smokey miso flavours which was very soft textures at $8. For the main dish, the ox tail was nice. At $27 the Kare-Kare was really nice. Described as the slow cooked ox tail in clay pot with ground toasted rice and peanut with egg plant, string beans and green leaf, the Kare-Kare was melt in your mouth meat. Give it a go! Prices: $20-$30 per head Location: Upstairs, 12 Fitzroy St, Kirribilli

Relatively new to lower north shore area, this has fast become one of personal favourites and probably one of the area’s best kept secrets. It houses a hot pot of all your asian favourites… but served tapas. I’m talking Jap, Malay, Filo and Chinese food all served in the one convenient location. SpaAsian tapas? How glorious! And if you come between Mon-Wed, you can even get their $10 tapas.

Hands up who watched last night's MKR? Hands up who thought it was a snoozefest now that the two polarising antagonists Jesswa (yes, they deserve their own double-headed sobriquet by now) have left the building? I certainly did, and if the ratings are anything to go by, so did the rest of Oz. All three episodes this week involving the terrible twosome rated above 2.1 million people, and the lone episode without them last night? Just 1.8 million eyeballs tuned in to watch the latest bunch of homecooks swoon over Manu's French accent and cook some stuff in their "instant" restaurants. I rest my case. Then again, MKR is as much about cooking as this blog is about restaurant reviews, so it's obvious "Cupcake" and co won't attract as many viewers clamouring for some manufactured kitchen drama. Alas, this new group has so far been reality TV wallpaper (even allowing for the fact that one contestant last night used the word "inspirate"), so after one episode without Jessica and Biswa, I'm cal

Best asian food!. My boyfriend and I discovered this place when we were living in Kirribilli two years ago. We love it so much that we go there at least twice a month. We love the flavours and the staff has always been nice. I recommend this place to all of my friends and will recommend it to anyone who is looking for a different experience with Asian food.

Great food and great place. I did enjoy this new style of Asia tapas food. Enjoyed different tastes food in one dinner. Nice staff n style decoration. It's a great place to hang out with friends.

Overpriced and lacking finesse. This restaurant may be asian inspired but as far as good authentic great tasting asian food goes, the vast majority of the various dishes within the banquet I sampled were incredibly amateur and lacking finesse...I don't appreciate going out to a restaurant and paying good money to have food flavoured straight from an asian supermarket bottle with a few herbs thrown on top - this place was so disappointing and overpriced...as per usual for Sydney cuisine, emphasis is more about look and location...the food and flavours?...definitely an afterthought! If you really know what good asian food tastes like and how to cook, chances are you won't enjoy this place.

Great Value. This is arguably the best value restaurant in the Kirribilli / Milsons Point area.
It's a bit different in style, wonderful food, Alan, the owner, does a great job and his staff are a delight.
Highly recommended.

Wow! What a total let down!. I am a local in the area, after reading so many positive reviews on here thought would give it a go with my spouse. We are huge yum cha fans and was excited for this local addition. Went for lunch and seriously the yum cha is horrible, the food is one of the worst yum cha food in Sydney it tastes like cheap frozen dumplings with really thick dumpling skins. For yum cha give it a second thought.

A must do in Kirribilli. This is hands down the place for tapas in Sydney. I had to stop my husband from eating the entire menu! He still had a food coma but it was worth it. The decor is too cool, the service attentive and the food Ah-Mah-zing.

Massive thumbs up to Street Market!

Really disappointed. Was really excited after reading the reviews but we left extremely disappointed. Food was extremely bland and they forgot half our order. But what we ate was so average that we decided to just pay for what we had, pretended it was an entree and walked across the road to the Asian restaurant opposite, where we were served a delicious meal.

I've never before not enjoyed an Asian meal. But this food was extremely average.

Terribly slow service but staff tried their best and the wait was worth it. Crispy tofu dish was like eating little clouds of heaven.

I like it but... The final dish we ordered was a pumpkin eggplant and tofu curry. It had no eggplant or tofu and came with a hair. Ugh. Ruined the experience.

Good Idea. Never thought I would go for asian food in kirribilli but this is an interesting place with good service. Some of the food is not as tasty as I expected (pork and chive dumplings) and it seemed as though they had had subdued the flavors in some other dishes.

Overall it was good with OK pricing.

Amazing!!!. With so many Asian restaurants in Kirribilli, this is definitely the best! Great atmosphere and the service is fantastic. Definitely recommend.
