Came wanting to try the French toast but they didn't have it on the menu at the moment. So, I tried the activated charcoal bun beef burger with watermelon juice. The beef burger had a good kick of mild spicy sauce 😁
The watermelon juice was nice and refreshing.
A cute little cafe located right next to the hospital and easy to find parking around. The dishes were absolutely amazing and fresh. We went during brunch on a weekday and when we had entered there was one table left and quite a bit of people waiting for their coffee or takeaway so our food did take a while to come out. The menu at Culture Bean satisfies for all dietary requirements. I highly recommend this place to anyone.
For someone who is spoilt by Surry Hills cafe culture, I find Culture Bean, located in Kogarah in Sydney’s south, surprisingly exciting. Not only is the food tasty but it is artistically presented to a high standard. . A regular skim cappuccino arrived at the table when I was busy people watching. The latte art was so exquisite that I felt bad to ruin the drawing. Culture Bean serves exclusively Gabriel Coffee which has the right amount of bitterness and aroma for my palate.
If you are looking for a rustic cozy cafe in Kogarah, Culture Bean is your one stop shop for brunch! It has everything you can think of for brunch from cold drinks, hot drinks, smoothies, acai bowls, your classic breakie dishes and Culture Bean's dishes like; the culture crumpets stack, culture burger, culture breakkie and more! We decided to order the crumpet stack, shakshuka and culture burger.
If your looking for dreamy brunch spreads then @culturebean is the place to go! The dishes were absolutely amazing, i would eat desert anytime of the day so the Knefeh French toast was a big hit! Mama is going back for more!🤤

Culture Bean is an inviting local café in Kogarah. Its location and set up make it a perfect spot for a casual breakfast, brunch or any daytime eating affair. There is some seating inside with a red telephone booth against the wall and also a nice set up of tables out the front. We arrived for a late Sunday lunch and although the place was quite busy, we found a table outside. At a glance, the place is a local favourite. Lots of people popping in for a take away coffee and pretty much all tables taken. The menu at Culture Bean is also very impressive with lots of choices to satisfy all dietary requirements from vegetarian to vegan and options to satisfy even the most committed carnivores.
This place had a great vibe! Located in the by lanes of Kogarah, this place definitely convinces you too peep in while you walk by.. And boy you won’t regret it. The coffee to start off was amazing! And the food was gorgeous and colourful, not just pleasing to the eye, but tasted great as well!
the food was amazing!! hopefully they have a branch around CBD so i can visit them every week😂😂 but unfortunatelly, because of the summer time, the flies easy to come if you have dining outside area🙄
Serving up a great range of fresh, delicious and highly instagrammable food, this little cafe in south Sydney is full of charm. For the health conscious, there’s protein smoothies and acai bowls, and for those who just want a good ol’ millenial brekkie (me), it’s hard to go past the crumpets stack with chorizo and harissa relish.
Love this local cafe in Kogarah, huge selection of breakfast and lunch items. Food is vibrant and tasty, pictured are the crumpets and chia seed porrige
Great experience for breakfast - eggs were creamy and im a sucker for Pepe saya butter 🤪
There are much more exciting things on the menu, smoothie bowls and burgers but I was feeling a simple kind of mood today ☺️
you go to the counter to order so you can take your time to order if you need to. Popular spot for families on weekends with plenty of space for mothers with prams outside or for couples/friends with smaller tables inside.
Delicious food, amazing service and beautiful atmosphere. Can’t wait to come back here again! The Granola bowl, French toast, milkshakes, and matcha latte have won me over. One of the best 🙌🏼 💕
Step right up and feast your eyes on the gorgeous spread at Culture Bean in Kogarah!
An açai bowl ($15) to whet your appetite, made from a puree of Amazonian berries, banana and mango, finished with muesli, shaved coconut, fresh fruit and chia seeds. This bowl looks like a piece of art when served and offers a refreshingly sweet but subtle berry blend and crunch from the Sonoma spelt muesli. By far the best açai I've ever had, I'd definitely return for seconds.
When you eat a burger, do you become cultured? Cause that's what the Culture Burger ($18) implies.. (I know, an awful pun!). Looking through the menu I couldn't resist the words 'buttermilk marinated chicken thigh' or 'sun-dried tomato pesto' and boy oh boy I was not disappointed. I absolutely love the craze with the activated charcoal buns and though it may not taste different from a regular bun, it never fails to excite me. The burger was delicious and I have nothing bad to say about it. It even had a little spice to it which I wasn't expecting but really made it stand out from other burgers I've had.
The Culture Crumpets Stack ($17) with CoYo, pistachio crumble and seasonal fruits was the last dish I tried. Somewhat of a play on the regular hotcakes or pancake stack, the crumpet stack has all the familiar elements you would expect of said dish. For me personally, I'm not a massive fan of crumpets so I found the taste a little unusual and the crumpets were a bit dense. The fruit were a welcome addition on the plate to help balance out the creaminess of the CoYo and savouriness of the crumpets.
I also tried the Green Coconut (DF) Smoothie ($10) and the Gutsii Protein Shake (DF) ($10) to quench my thirst. The Green Coconut Smoothie was a very vibrant green colour and I was impressed with how tall the glass was. I can see this drink being a big hit for those who enjoy green smoothies but I think this drink may have been a bit too healthy for me. I was also intrigued with the protein shake, especially with the hype around gut health at the moment. I enjoyed this drink better than the Green Coconut Smoothie however again felt that there needed to be a fuller flavour.
My thanks to CPM Online Marketing and Culture Bean for the invite and hospitality.

Came as a guest. Ordered the shakshuka and it was to a good standard. Eggs Bennie was really packed with food. The knefeh French Toast, what I liked about it is that it wasn’t too sweet like a lot of other places. Service was quick and I noticed a lot of people ordering take away coffees here
For a lovely local brunch, we visited Culture Bean cafe in Kogarah – a cute neighbourhood gem with a great menu of classic dishes!. We started off with a healthy freshly squeezed juice and refreshing açai smoothie combo. This was followed by the shakshuka, a beautiful baked eggs dish with rich tomato and smoky chorizo. We also tried the charcoal bun chicken burger – the soft charcoal bun was complemented by a generous amount of spicy chicken, and it was super tasty.
Culture Bean is located opposite Kogarah hospital so it’s always buzzing with visitors and public services staff. But equally you should pay this a visit for their beautiful brunch and lunch options that are as pretty as a picture. Its a small cafe but there is both indoor and outdoor seating available, we sat outside on a hot summers day and enjoyed the sunlight and shared a number of dishes and fresh drinks alongside our coffees.
Little cute cafe next to St George Hospital. They offer a good range of healthy breakfast + brunch food. They also have a decent range of pastries and cakes. The prices are a little pricey + service is good. The cronuts were quite good. The ingredients used for the granola and acai were fresh. The ingredients actually worked very well together.

It’s our favourite cafe in Kogarah, the area is really nice, food is amazing for a really good price. Try the Ben Addict Eggs and the Chocolate Croissant, absolutely delicious.
This cafe is the the best in Kogarah area and many doctors and nurses come here during their lunch break. Very chill vibe, fresh flowers and welcoming customer service are truly unforgettable.
The Acai Bowl was superb! Yes the price is a bit expensive but the portion is real big. We had the Granola Bowl and the Healthy Fig Bar, but acai bowl is the best.
Great food, shared a few items off the menu that were all excellent including the acai bowl, smashed avocado and the big breakfast. Fast service and good value for money.
Went here for a late brunch. I had the acai bowl which was a bit more expensive than other places, but definitely worth the extra dollars, very yummy! They weren't really busy but couldn't manage to bring out two dishes together that were ordered at the same time. Even though service was just okay, I would recommend because the food was great.
I go here for the one reason most do too: THE AÇAI BOWL. A fresh way to start the day. By the way, CB uses Sonoma granola which makes the bowl all the more special. Yum!!
Love the acai bowls here! I've come here multiple times, mainly for their delicious and gorgeous acai bowls. They're always consistently good and are perfect texture, not too runny. I've tried the chicken burger once and it was juicy and delicious too.
The first acai bowl I've ever tried, and now I'll never go back!
The balance of sweetness is perfect in both the acai and the goodness topped on top. I'm yet to discover an acai bowl that tops Culture beans.
I've had it both eat in and take away, and it's great either way! Friendly staff who are happy to tweak it to your liking.
The cafe is pretty small and can be squashy at times- only because it can be popular, so make sure you get in early on the weekends!
Well done guys, you're defiantly doing something right here 👌🏻
Great little cafe in Kogarah. The place is tiny and there isn't much seating inside so you may need to go early to secure a seat.
Service is very friendly and welcoming. Acai bowls are the true star here & you cannot leave without trying one, highly recommended!
Culture Bean is a cute little corner cafe in Kograh, providing seating both indoors and outdoors, it has enough room for you and all your friends. Head over when you get a chance and have one of their awesome acai bowls! Especially in this summer heat, nothing is more refreshing than this dish for breakie or lunch.
Culture Bean have put a twist on the traditional acai bowl and made it almost icy, like a slurpee. If its not a hot summer day, then they got you covered with warmer food options too. Already sold on the acai bowl, then try the breakfast pan, with haloumi, eggs, mushrooms and sausages, yum yum yum!
This very busy cafe is probably my favourite in the area if you can get comfortable seating out of the sun. They often have oregano scrolls, cronuts and other sweet baked items on display at the counter, all of which are rather tasty.
Coffee is good and our go to acai smoothie bowl and pesto chicken pasta never disappoints. One time after a public holiday when they ran out of acai, they refused to charge us for our order as the wait was longer than expected for the new acai delivery. Staff are very friendly but seating is limited, particularly indoors
hard to beat their acai bowl, one of the best around. coffee is ok, not the best. the cronut and sweet selection at the till is impossible to resist......send someone else up for you.
This place exceeds all expectations - Food, service, speed from order to food, the works!
If you've never had an acai bowl from here before, you haven't lived.
Love love love Culture Bean Cafe - I live 40 minutes away and have been there multiple times. Definitely worth the wait on a sat/sun morning for their brunch menu.
The burger.... YUM!
Acai bowl on point
Coffee consistent and done right!
Service/vibe great!
Cronuts variety of flavours (but get in fast they sell out)
Culture bean is one of our favourite cafes and we've come back on multiple occasions. Their menu is very limited on weekdays - with only the acai bowl and counter food available. However said this we normally order the Acai Bowl ($15) and it has never failed to impress. The bowl is topped with granola, bananas, strawberries, coconut, blueberries, passion fruit and chia seeds. All the toppings complement each other perfectly and the bowl is extremely refreshing on hot days - but we'd still happily get it in winter. We'll be coming back soon to try more of their menu!
A busy little cafe in Kogarah with pretty much only one thing on the menu, Acai Bowls lol. Beautiful Acai Bowls nonetheless. They also have some amazing cronuts sometimes!

I can assure you that culture bean cafe is the best cafe I have ever been to. I really like their acai bowl and how its presented to me in the best way possible. If you know me I love presentation in food.
I love this place. It's energetic. Buzzing.
The acai berry bowl was so good. And eggs benedict. The acai bowl is pretty big too.
Nice small cafe, lots of energy, love it.
A local gem in the suburbs of Southern Sydney where there seems to be an undervalued lack of cafe culture yet to be discovered. It’s a small corner cafe with plenty of street parking and it’s located directly across from the St George Hospital.

Had breakfast here today, quite crowded at 11 am too, however at the girl at the counter actually said order up and once you find a place we will start preparing the order.
The acai bowl, I had seen pictures and read a bit of mixed reviews about it. Still went ahead and ordered it. Must say it's absolutely brilliant, the muesli and the acai berries sorbet kind at the base taste perfect. It's an excellent breakfast option, its a huge serving for one person and at 15$ a plate worth it.
We also ordered the eggs on toast, had them scrambled. The eggs were well done. Previously I have also tried their Thai chicken salad, loved the flavors though not a big fan of the chicken. Bit chunky and dry.
Loved the food and overall atmosphere, hopefully next time can try their cronuts which look so inviting.
Great food and coffee. I'm sure they use organic produce as the cherry tomatoes and mushrooms in the Culture Brekkie were really tasty. The eggs benny was pretty ordinary with pomegranate sprinkled on top which actually seemed like an odd combination to me. Not much else to choose from on the menu. As it is quite a small cafe, don't expect table service but there's plenty of seating outside.
A humble cafe near the St George hospital. Recommend going early if you want a table. The Acai bowl is the way to go and their juices are pretty delicious.
I came here for the acai bowl and was not disappointed. I love the addition of passion fruit which you don't usually get at most places. I definitely preferred the acai bowl over the big breakfast style dish. Would definitely come back.

Been seeing this lovely photos of their Acai Bowl made me gather up my foodie troops to invade this sweet little spot in Kogarah. This blog is a late post from Dec 2015 which is the reason why the cafe is amazingly decorated with Christmas ornaments and filled with Christmas inspired Cronuts and Sweets :)
Come here all the time! One of the best quality acai bowls I have eaten! Good portion size, muesli is awesome and the bowl is packed with fresh fruit and chia seeds too! My only pet peeve is getting chipped or cracked bowls, which I was once served!
Good cafe food, I had a chocolate milkshake (which was great) and the culture breakfast. The food was nice, especially the sausage, I'd probably give the beef bacon a miss next time though. Fast service.
Most people come to culture bean for the acai- but I say don't go past the eggs. The poached eggs were delicious, not the best I've had but I loved all the other flavours combined. Presentation was excellent and service was friendly. A nice spot for a quiet, relaxed brekkie
If you're looking for a place with a big menu or range of food, you're probably not looking at the right place. Well, at least not during the weekdays. The menu is very limited and when I mean very, I mean a few sandwiches, granola and an acai bowl. Nevertheless, I still enjoyed my experience here. I ordered the acai bowl and it was delicious. The museli was crunchy, exactly how it should be, the fruit was fresh delicious and the overall texture and taste was great. I was very impressed. Service wasn't too bad, however we did stand unattended to until we got a workers attention.
I come here for breakfast at least three times a month just for their acai bowls! Best acai bowls I have ever tasted. I have also tried other items on their menu and they never seem to fail me. Coffee, is a hit and miss. Great customer service and always friendly.
Culture bean was all I saw at one point all over Instagram, definitely Instagram worthy... Must try acai bowl. It will bring you back to Hawaii if you've ever been. Or if you dream of going to Hawaii... Go to culture bean. The scenery isn't the same, but the view of the hospital will do. Happy feasting ! @icanthelpbuteat
On a rather warm winters morning, my sister and I ventured out (not really that far) to Culture Bean Cafe in Kograh. Anything that requires us to travel on the Princes Highway seems a little far in our books. We had both read a lot about this place and have seen amazing photos of their Acai bowl so we decided today was the day we would be able to capture one of those awesome instagram photos for ourselves.

We claimed a table right in the sun, which was beautiful and we ordered an acai bowl each. The presentation of these bowls is literally immaculate. The precision of the single blueberry placed perfectly in the center of the slice of banana made for perfect presentation. I personally found the Acai delicious but on one hand a little expensive in comparison to others I have had before. The coffee was nice and came out in a mason jar that have become oh so popular.
Overall a pleasant experience; yummy food, beautiful weather and kind of awesome company, made for a lovely lunch.
Great casual little brunch spot. On the weekdays, they mostly do a selection of salads and wraps along with toasted sandwiches. Unfortunately they only do the cooked breakfasts on weekends. We tried the chicken pesto sandwich and although not a huge serve it was quite enjoyable and full of flavor. What I really came for though was their insta famous acai bowl. A very generous serving of refreshingly iced acai purée topped with crunchy granola, toasted coconut and fruit. I liked it and can imagine myself having it especially in summer. This place is quite busy even when we came on a Monday so probably not ideal for larger groups either.
Very mediocre after new owner. Staff are still great but coffee is bad to average. Opening hours aren't the widest either. That said it is still one of the better places in walking distance of the hospital.
A cute little place for locals that can get quite busy. Service is good. Acai bowl represents this place. Would come over and over again for it. Plenty of street parking around.
My favorite place in town for acai bowls hands down! They have pretty good savory dishes too and also cronuts. Food takes a bit of time to come out but overall service is very good with friendly staff.
Having been flooded (pun not intended) by University assessments, it’s been a really big struggle to pull the DSLR out of the cupboard and return to the world of good food. But now, it’s great to be back. During my exam-imposed hiatus, I received some advice that I needed more variation in my blog, more criticism, more ruthless dissections of the food which would make it a more thrilling read. And while I agree that variety is good and having a go at others is always better than being told off, how you rip into others will be how others rip into you. Honestly, I’m not looking for a 6-star Michelin, blown-out-of-my-mind experience, I’m just looking for something closer to home. Nevertheless, I’ll try to make your guys salivate with greater detail.
A nice place for brunch with a friend or two. Cheery staff and cute flowers for the table, it definitely has a nice vibe to it. Just on the corner block, it's a quick walk way from the station. Cronut is definitely recommended, and the acai bowl for those who enjoy super cold dishes!
I'd upload the photo but no one wants another Acai bowl shot right? This cafe offers a healthier alternative their USP being their acai bowl which was really yummy. I thought the prices were a tad higher for a cafe in the burbs though.
Service was quick, food was okay, cronut wasn't as good as the ones from brewtown. Not a lot of indoor seatings and even seating indoor was quite cold, maybe consider adding some heaters?

This cosy Kogarah cafe serves up food so beautiful you may not want to eat it! Close to St George Hospital it's also a perfect spot to recharge after an appointment - expectant mumma's we're talking to you! ;) For the kids there are smoothie options, muesli, toasted sandwiches or classic scrambled eggs to keep them happy. There's also a huge array of baked treats and delicious cinnamon scrolls and cronuts - perfect for an after hospital appointment treat.
With Instagram photos of their Acai Bowl popping up all over the place, we needed to try this place for ourselves. Culture Bean in Kogarah is a small café located on a quiet street intersection.
Always great. Girlfriend and I eat here all the time. Amazing food and great coffee.
Coffee is good, service not that good only one person working serving tables they may use the excuse they can't find staff but if they pay the staff accordingly they will not have that problem at all.
it's not is not staff available, its just business doesn't pay according to the staff if that happens the staff never leave customer will have good service and the greatest experience ever
it's not the price of the food
Because the price is not low at the cafe I can ensure anyone the price in this cafe it's not cheap at all 57 dollars + for 2 breakfast and 2 coffee and 1 small bottle of water it's just too expensive for breakfast
Had a lovely brunch with my sister. The mocha was great with beautiful latte art. Never had shakshuka before but what we had was fresh and delightful. Thumbs up x
I have had lunch here at least half a dozen times. Each time I have chosen Eggs benedict and can say without reservation that it has been the best I've found in Australia over a 40 year period. Even ordering a strawberry milkshake looks a bit like a cocktail out on vacation. Pleasant indoor and outdoor seating. Staff are polite and super helpful. Evan runs an amazing place. Highly recommended
I absolutely love their açai bowl, best I’ve had in Sydney. Their coffee is not quite to my tastes but the latte art makes up for it
Culture Bean is one of my go-to local brunch spots because of…
✅ Great food
- Fruity chilled açai with fresh fruit and a smashing granola was perfect for the warmer weather 🍓🍌
- Shakshuka was well-balanced with lovely spiced tomato, eggs, chorizo and a generous serving of sourdough on the side 🍅🍳
✅ Attentive and friendly staff (who replaced our butter immediately after discovering it was liquid) & reasonably quick service during Saturday lunchtime 🙋🏻♀️⏱
✅ Location
- Lots of street parking or a short walk from Kogarah station 🚗🚶
✅ Offers both indoor and outdoor seating! While tables are limited, there’s a good atmosphere for conversation 👥
..
So what’s not to love? 😍 We’ll be sure to come back!
..
Further comments: We also ordered an iced almond latte & freezochino. My sister said the freezochino tasted like a coffee smoothie and could be improved by being colder.
The breakfast I had here was delightful! I had the shakshuka eggs and it was warming, tangy, salty and satisfying. Coffee was good too.
Best coffee in the area and the food is absolutely beautiful. Food is made with such care, always fresh and flavourful. Lovely ambience for dining in and excellent speed service.
Best acai bowl in Sydney! Very generous portions, only wish it had more fruit.
