I love this place and a yummy food. I have to have at list one dish from here per week.
Amazing Thai in a small space on Railway Parade. The ambience, staff and food all came across as coming straight from Bangkok or Phuket. Would be ideal to go when in normal times.
Excellent local Thai place in Kogarah. We have been ordering here for over 3 years and the food is consistently great and the ingredients are fresh. We typically order - seafood stir fries, pad thai, pad see ew, calamari and other entrees...have tried a few soups and salads and special fried rice. All excellent with great ingredients. Have tried some specials including a tamarind fish which was great.I will say one of the chefs on the rotation makes a really dry Larb Gai but he seems to be rarely on so I won't count that in the review. Normally the Larb Gai is excellent. Also the raw beef version of that dish which on their menu is called "Goi Dip" - if you like steak tartare or carpaccio I highly recommend trying this here. Super fresh raw beef diced, with sour and moreish savoury flavours. Like a larb gai comes super chilli so I usually ask for "70% chilli" - that way its a bit of a kick but it doesn't take away from the fresh beef and other flavours. This place is always busy for a reason!
It was almost 10 o'clock and we were on our home and was looking for a restaurant that serves rice. And found this restaurant near Kogarah train station. The menu looked really yummy and was already planning on what to order only to be informed that they would only be doing stir fry as it's almost closing time. Hohum. Sad. I actually wanted to try the crispy pork belly. But then have to settled for chicken pad thai and thai fried rice. Didn't wait too long for my ordered. When we got home, we immediately dived into our take aways. (in case you might wonder, we haven't had dinner hence the 10 o'clock take away). The fried rice albeit the small portion was really good. You don't need a viand to finish the entire container. The bits of chicken pieces was enough. The Pad Thai was good too. Though I would have wanted it a bit saucy or oily. The noodle was a bit dry but taste wise still a good pad thai. Perfect balance of sweet and sour. The price was not bad as well, spent $19.50 for the both. Parking is tricky as it is near the train station.
Excellent place for authentic Thai food. Reasonably priced. Visited it many times during my stay at Carlton/kohgrah. Service and lady at the counter were very courteous.
Have eaten here numerous times and have sampled there noodle dishes as well as their main meals. They have Street food section in their menu which you wouldn’t find in your usual Australian Thai. Noodles consisting of blood jelly, pink noodles.
Tonight we have Seafood laksa, prawn laksa and vegetarian pad Thai which could have been larger in serving but tasty. The Laksas were more generous with the seafood one having a Mussel, prawns squid and a fried fish served with Vermicille. My preference for laksa is always a mix of Hopkins and vermicelli but mainly when having Malaysian.
Satays , springs rolls and curries are always nice here as well. Give it a try even though some meals are foreign otherwise known as Authentic.
This restaurant is tops. The staff are all super friendly and service is quick. Serving portions are huge for what you pay. You never have to ask for extra vegetables as they put plenty in all their dishes. The dishes are flavorsome, non-salty, healthy, and exciting! Your popular lunch dishes are $9.90 and you get heaps!
The service is fast, the place is tiny but good interior. Staff attends to you very quickly. The only thing i am concerned about this eatery is they add too much pepper in their pad thai.
We absolutely love this thai restaurant! There is alot of thai places to eat around here and we've tried them all, but nothing compares to the choice, flavour, consistency and service of Sumbaijai. The owner, Gay, is the friendliest and most attentive person you could meet and the prices are amazing for the quality you get. There is a special board to try new things but the regular menu is fantastic. So many thai places dumb it down for aussies but not here. We go to thailand several times a year but actually crave here when we get back as its so much fresher. Addicted!
Quaint Thai restaurant, cheery friendly staff. For a $10 meal, I'm so full. The Beef noodle soup was pack with flavour, the beef strips were tender. It also came with crispy pork rinds on top which is a bit different and a nice surprise.
$13 or less for everything on the eat in dinner menu.
Sumbaijai is a popular Thai restaurant in Kogarah, especially for office and medical workers around the area.
If you’re not sure, go straight to the very last page of Sumbaijai Thai street food. There, you’ll find a selection of fried rice, stir-fry noodles, and noodle soups. Everything was so tempting but we went straight to our familiar options, which were fried rice with cured pork or “name” in Thai (or “nem” in Vietnamese); and chicken pad see-ew.
The food that came with generous servings was surprisingly delicious. Make sure you ask for “chilli”/ or any of the ingredients listed below, they’ll bring you a whole cart of vinegar, dried chilli flakes, fish sauce, soy sauce, and sugar. I feel like most people are missing out on this.
It was a very pleasant experience as we immediately fell in love with the cleanliness of this place.
On my subsequent visits, I tried out their noodles soup which was mediocre. I dislike the red curry which was overly sweet.
Very nice Thai Esan foods, friendly service,
Food was nice and spicy…yumm!!!
First time visit yesterday in this small cafe style restaurant. Tom kha and Prawn pad thai were so tasty. added bonus the chef brought my dish it out to me... thank you 💖 if you are in Kogarah check them out... you will not be disappointed
Yum! I've been coming here consistently for years, it's family run and authentic Thai. This is coming from me living in thailand for a good amount of time, ofcourse better in thailand with access to thai ingredients etc, but this place is so good with consistent quality authentic taste, generous portions and fresh ingredients. Lovely place, affordable good value prices; easily the best thai in Kogarah.
Yum! Authentic Thai taste with a good variety of foods. It has been a favorite spot for me these days.
