Hidden gem!! 10/10 highly recommended
I was on the hunt for a decent steak to satisfy my meat craving.
Luckily @500.degrees provided a decent steak to help fill the meat void in my day.
They also do a great plate of mix ribs - beef and lamb 🤤
Juicy and tender with the meat sliding right off the bone.
The lamb was of course a stand out for me.

Ventured out to Kogarah for a taste of South Africa. Ha the memories of home. 500 degrees is a South African owned restaurant that serves up mainly meat dishes that is basted with their secret sauce and cooked over an open flame. This gives the meat that distinct Smokey flavour. Love it!
We ordered the:
. Beef Boerewors with mash. Sausage meat blended with South African herbs and spices. I don't eat beef so can only go on a review I got from friends. The beef was good but overall the wors was a tad dry.
. Chicken breast piri piri with rosemary potatoes. The chicken breast was cooked to perfection. It was full of flavour and moist. The rosemary potatoes were moorish. Then again I love potatoes.
. Steak cooked medium rare with salad. Turns out the steak was cooked to order and melted in your mouth. That is definitely a sign of a good steak.
The service and staff here is good. The only recommendation I would make is that they have a more extensive wine list and perhaps bring in a couple of South African wines too. Overall this place is worthy of a second visit.
Love this place. Very handy location, close to Kogarah station. Delicious food and amazing desserts. The char char wings were packed with flavours and I loved a bit of spiciness there. For desserts, both chocolate lava cake and sticky date pudding were rich and indulgent. Especially the sticky date pudding, to die for!
Every time I visit I always have to order their beef ribs and they never disappoint. The meat is always tender that you can easily remove it with a fork. The smoky sauce has got the right amount of sweetness & acidity and it is generously coated on the ribs. Their chips are also amazing, crunchy on the outside & fluffy on the inside. 😋
I tried their Chilli injected burger for the first time, apparently it’s a new item on their menu. It comes with its own chilli syringe and you can make it as spicy as you like which is a cute idea. Although I didn’t really like the chilli sauce much, it tasted like Mexican chilli which I’m not much a big fan of, but the whole idea was fun & innovative. Beef patty was juicy but the onion ring inside the burger was not so great, it was coated with the hardest batter I’ve eaten, it hurt my teeth! 😬
Takeaway burger cooked medium rare, delicious and soooo juicy! Could have eaten 5 of them!
Great little restaurant serving up burgers, steaks, ribs and chicken.
We decided to try 500 Degrees on a 40° day in Kogarah... and boy was it awesome!
For a starter we had the Panko Risotto Balls. These balls are huge! You can't fit even one of them in your mouth... but damn they're tasty! Crispy on the outside, soft in the middle.
The Spartan Platter was half a chicken, bread, salad, corn and hummus. The best way to describe the chicken is that its bbq'd, then smothered in a beef ribs bbq sauce thats left to soak on an open flame. This was delicious!
The Americano burger was cooked to medium perfection. The juices and special sauce was delicious. One of the best burgers I've had in Kogarah. The chips were double fried and fluffy crunchy .
The music was awesome. The staff are amazing and extremely friendly. Can't fault them!
Southern Sydney suburb Kogarah may not be a renowned dining destination, but the opening of 500 Degrees last year has diversified the local restaurant options with a style more associated with city eateries. Whilst an enormous print of 1890s Kogarah lines one of the walls, the drinks list is definitely contemporary with a number of craft beers such as Two Birds featuring.

Good ribs and chicken combo. Great prices. Great location. Excellent service. I love how there is easy access to a hand basin to wash hands. Little things like that makes a place good.
I've been a couple of times and I honestly have never tasted better ribs then I did, when I was there. The food was amazing and I definitely recommend it.
Staff were very friendly and the owner was very nice, I definitely will keep going there
For a hearty lunch in our local area, we headed down to Kogarah to 500 Degrees, a new steak and ribs joint right opposite the train station. We were so excited to try their steak, so we ordered the Darling Down 300g rump steak with a side of mashed potato and mushroom sauce. The steak was perfectly cooked to a medium as ordered, and really well seasoned, with plenty of flavour in the meat. The side of mushroom sauce was also really delicious and the mash creamy and rich to cut through the heavier meat.
We came here to celebrate my birthday lunch. The ambience was good and relaxing for me with 2 kids and a baby. We ordered the full rack for my 2 kids, they really enjoyed it. My thought was that the portion could have been a bit more for the full rack...
I ordered the Spartan box with 1/2 chicken, 2 corn, pita bread, salad and hummus. OMG.. the bread was so soft, perfect, so was the hummus... not enough. I could eat more of that bread.. the chicken was good but next time I will ask the chicken to be more spicy. Tried the kambucha for the first time, to me it tasted a bit like apple cider.
Before we left, we decided to try the Fatty beef burger, served open on a board.. (sorry no pic). It was juicy, melt in your mouth and flavorful, just the way we like it, will order this burger again!. Overall, the place is value for money, serves good food and we will be back.
Been there twice in a week. The whole chicken with Parmesan potatoes is the goods so nice. The salt and pepper calamari is a nice starter, also had the beef ribs the meat just fell off the bone wish was a delight and the steak was cooked to absolute perfection. The place is BYO and service impeccable.
The service is definitely excellent, welcoming, ordering, serving. There is a basting sauce, tasting like tomato but a little sour and less sweet, a mixed flavor worth to have a try. The bone of rib seems to be burnt, maybe it's the special feature, but bring some bitter taste.

Great location in the heart of Kograh across from the train station, close to the hospital and tafe. They allow for pre-orders making it a great spot to eat if time is an issue.
500 degrees offers a great casual dining experience. The staff are super freindly and accomodating and the cooks have prior experience working at Hurricaines as well as Sheraton on the park.
The restaurant specialises in ribs and other meat dishes cooked on the grill. With BYO available and a range of non-alcoholic drinks including Kombucha, there is something to suit everyone.
There are tasty starters, decent portions too. The salt and pepper squid and the panko crumbed risotto balls were both great. For something more substantial. They also do salads wraps and burgers.
But you are at a grill...the rib combos are the goods!!! The steak and rib combo is a definite winner. The beef rib had a nice BBQ sauce and was fall off the bone, the steak perfectly cooked to order. Try their pepper and mushroom sauce, so good. The flame grilled chicken is great value, definitely worth a crack. A nice charred tasted and the chilli BBQ sauce full of flavour.
A great place for a meal in Kograh, dine in or take away.

Great service and food, had the beef ribs which tasted amazing and is great value for money when compared to other meat places, definitely recommend and will come back.
Super friendly staff, very attentive table service. BYO easy with several bottleshops nearby. The salad was fresh and interesting, the beef ribs generous and tasty.
The food is great. the price is also good but could be a little less. the customer service is fantastic. everything makes up for the cost!!! I absolutely recommend it. favourite restaurant is st george area so far. its also halal which is great since there is a lot of people in this area concerned about it.
koragah store had a wagu beef burger and chips today very nice beef burger but small helping of chips price of items listed in the menu excludes gst customer needs to take note. my friend and I both ordered the same burger and we both enjoyed the burger. This is the first time we visited this place saw it at on facebook. maybe the place needs some improvement in terms of the decor. I think if the place had better environment it would attract more customers. we were the only people at the restaurant. maybe a door bell needed to indicate customers entry to restaurant especially if one person employed and working at the back of the store.. 24 may I have been to other burger places and your beef burger still has the best value for money in terms of taste and the size of the helping of meat in a burger.

Burgers:
Yummy, yummy burgers. Juicy and perfectly cooked. The rest of my review contains some constructive feedback, but the burgers do not require any constructive feedback, except that they could perhaps be saucier, but I'm not wedded to that either.
Sides:
Roasted potatoes are not the best (not terrible-- just good, compared to the excellent burgers), since they take a few shortcuts in the cooking process. Got a garden salad here, which was ample, but not very exciting. Dressing was okay, but not excellent.
Steaks:
Have not tried the steaks, but if the burgers are anything to go by, they should be pretty good.
Ambiance:
It was very quiet in a kind of lonely way when we went. I think COVID had a lot to do with it. In any case, it could probably be improved by being busier, having more lively or bluesy music, and by offering water for the table at the start of the meal. It's right next to Kogarah station, which is convenient, but not exactly classy. It was just the one guy doing everything when we went there, so I can imagine it's tough to time manage all of that and keep the vibes going.
NB: They are not happy with split bills.
Amazing experience today! One of the best lamb ribs, so juicy. Hat’s off to that Bangladesh chef for cooking such a great meal. salt & pepper squid was wow. Excellent customer service of that pretty lady. Would highly recommended. 🙂
Very good the first time I went, the ribs melted from the bone with just the right mix of char on the edges to give a slightly burnt flavor that mixed perfectly with the bbq sauce. This time, not quite as awesome. The briscuit burger was too sweet to my taste. Still a great spot I plan to return to.
Top service, and one of the few places that does kangaroo steak! Hidden gem in Sydney suburbs! Staff super helpful with recommending food.
Vegans avoid plz all meat.
