Review Black Cockatoo Cafe - Kojonup

We stopped here because of the EV Chargefox located nearby, the plan was to grab some lunch while the vehicle charged. Friendly and efficient café, hot and cold snack and drink options. Indoor seating or under the verandah overlooking the landscape courtyard.

If ever you find yourself in Kojonup then I highly recommend The Black Cockatoo Cafe. I was very surprised at how much I absolutely enjoyed eating lunch at this Cafe. The staff are so friendly and accommodating. While the decor is plain and simple it's also very relaxing both inside the Cafe and outside. The food was really good, I had a BLT and an iced coffee and both were made with lots of flavour in other words simply delicious. There is plenty of parking available and plenty of room both inside and out. It is kept beautifully clean plus The Black Cockatoo is situated at the Kojonup Arts Centre so that is an added bonus. I will definitely dine there again

Lovely cafe , great selection of food with GF choices as well. A rose maze and other interesting things to view.

When we drive from Perth to Albany/Denmark we often stop here for a drink and snack. It is a convenient place for a break from driving. Staff are pleasant, prices good, and food n drink tasty.

Stopped here on our way back from Albany. Nice little cafe with outdoor seating and washroom. Only had coffee, wish had more time to try out the foods

Excellent food , good service, midway rest stop between Perth and Albany. Playground across the road for restless kids to run around. Beautiful rose garden maze to explore next to the restaurant.

Not too bad but the food quality, value and service are way below William Woolshed. Service was quite slow. It took a while until a staff cleaned up a table for us. It took even longer to deliver the food that we ordered. Taste wise, nothing special with the food. Food portion were quite small too. Not very good value for money.

Pretty spot to stop and stretch your legs but expect warm, weak coffee. Not much of a selection of food but it was 1pm 🤨. We had flat whites.
Great customer service.

Great coffee and snacks

The sausage roll pastry was a bit tough. I think it was microwaved for a bit too long.

The toastie was average.

Good atmosphere next to the rose garden.

So... I was kind of hoping for a diamond in a small town - it didn’t happen.
But to be honest? It’s what’s to be expected of a small country cafe.
The menu is small and simple - so is the food. You can’t complain about the prices but you also get what you pay for.
The ladies behind the counter were lovely thought
Wouldn’t stop by here again.

Despite holiday season - my grandson had to wait 20 mins for his milkshake despite ordering and paying for it and only actually received after his father complained that they had all been waiting over 15 mins to get their coffee and food as well. At this point many other people started complaining and the staff just laughed at the customers and said they were busy - food was not cleared from any of the tables during this time and the floor was a mess with food stuff all over the place. My grandson only received half a container full of his shake, our food was undercooked and raw and coffee was burnt and cold - appalling over rated service and we left the food at the counter after they refused a refund - needless to say many others did likewise . Avoid this place people!

A little disappointed with the small selection of options for lunch and also surprised that there was not a menu available. Staff seemed disinterested, no country hospitality here. There were plenty of signs directing us to the Black Cockatoo, however we should have probably gone to the bakery as we had originally planned.

Nice place, lots of seating and parking available. Bought a latte but did not like the beans they use. It's too bitter and the coffee way too hot. Some might like it but not for me.

Banana bread, 2 flat whites, panini, clubhouse sandwich and small chips. My panini was meh, soggy spinach. Coffees were perfect and just what we needed. Clubhouse and fries were good. Banana bread nice. Service was mixed there were 2 very pleasant staff but the person who took our order was clearly flustered and we stood there for 5mins without any acknowledgement while he wrote stuff down and kept going back to the kitchen. The place wasn't particularly busy. An 'I'll be with you in a moment' would've been better service.

Very poor service. Couldn't be bothered making smoothies which is the only good thing about the place. Busy holiday season and just plain lazy. Very disappointing.

Went on Tuesday at 2:15pm. A group of us find a table and sit down and thought that we have plenty of time since they close at 3pm. After 5 min of chit chat and of course looking at the menu, my dad reminds me that they started to take everything out from fridge and started to pack up. I rushed to the counter to order and was told that I can only order toasted item but not grilled item. Ok that is fine for all of us, we quickly place our order and the worker don't seems to be very happy at all. Poker face and not even friendly smile. Maybe of the odd timing that we are coming in at 215pm and delay their finishing hours. They start sweeping the floor around us while we are eating. I am a clean freak I don't feel comfortable at all. We finally leave the restaurant at 3:05pm.

This is a really nice little cafe. We called in here this morning and had a ham and cheese croissant and scones and coffee. The coffee was really good and the food delicious.

This is a great little cafe. Very busy & obviously popular with visitors & locals. Huge servings; the steak sandwich was awesome! The beef burger was also ginormous & very tasty. Great, friendly service too.

I like scones and these could be better (or worse? More butter?). Coffee is good. Best of all it is dog friendly with plenty of outside seating.

Good cafe food. Reasonable food, pretty good service, came for lunch and had to settle for a steak sandwich as the cafe had run out of fish. Asked for medium rare but got medium to well., still ate it as was hungry. Chips were yummy and so was the aioli. Pretty busy place so be prepared to wait up to 15 minutes.

Best chips. The chips and aioli are amazing

Great Place. Stopped into this great little Cafe on our way back from Albany for morning tea. Very clean, and great views across a rose maze. Staff were lovely and attentive. The food was great! The coffee was very well made and much better than a majority of restaurants in Perth.
Easy parking and a playground close by for the kids. Definitely will be a stop off for us on our next journey down south.

A must stop for our trips to an from Denmark. Better coffee than many perth cafes. Love how its kids friendly and right next to the rose maze. Beautiful!

Interesting food. But pretty expensive for what you get.

The microwaved(?!) chicken pie was tasty but not $8.00soggy pie in a bag tasty.

The coffee was woeful, bitter and overcooked milk, barely drinkable :(

A great find. Great food and an ideal setting. If you are traveling between Perth and Albany, be sure to stop here. Also check out the kids playground across the street and Kokoda memorial

An unexpected find .... Driving from Perth to Denmark and return the best place to stop for lunch and a great coffee has to be the Black Cockatoo in Kojonup. The food is simple but fresh and very tasty (recommend the foccacia) and the coffee was the best we had during a week in the region. The friendly staff who serve up lunch for travellers efficiently and with no fuss nailed it for us. See you next time we're on the road.

Terrible! Traveling past we were a bit peckish and saw they had 'award winning pies' so we ordered the lamb and rosemary and took a seat outside, after waiting 10mins we were told they only had plain beef left... Ok well it's still a pie... Another 20mins later we got our pie... After waiting half an hour we were pretty hungry and were annoyed to find it Luke warm and soft and soggy. I went back to the counter with the plate... The 2 waitstaff behind the counter were completely ignoring me so I put the plate on the counter in front of them so they couldn't miss me. One of the waitstaff then picked the plate up and walked away to the kitchen ignoring my yelling 'excuse me' as she walked away. When she returned I told her I was actually returning it to which she replied 'was it cold?' 'no' I told her 'it was soggy and horrible' I was shocked with her total lack of surprise and a reply of 'oh yep il just give u your money back' which she did and returned to do whatever it was she was doing without so much of a sorry or an offer to replace.... We walked out of there and decided to stop at the gull up the road for a much better feed!

I ordered the Salt and Pepper Squid Salad (around AU$16) from the daily specials board, and I quite enjoyed this one. The battered squid was crispy on the outside but moist and tender on the inside, and the semi-dried tomato was a nice touch. The peri-peri sauce was delicious...
