Review Pumphouse - Kununurra

Good views Tables are jammed for sunset Food, well that’s another matter, pizza station or steak. Wife had the steak which is a cheap cut of meat and tastes like it. Belgium Fries are just very salty fries Pizzas are ok but served in the pitch black and you are surrounded by little flies which is a very uncomfortable experience. Aside from the view for sunset the food isn’t that good. However in Kununurra there isn’t much options.

Not impressed with their $39 Loin Steak. When our mains arrived, our steaks and chips were cold! Salad was no different from the mine site camp salad, very average. The pepper sauce was rubbish, no pepper flavour at all and very watery! It’s a rip-off! None of the staff bother to come over to check if our steaks were cooked to our likings. Their beers on tap taste flat. We actually reserved the place for 2 nights for dinner, but we won’t be returning here for the 2nd night. Many people went there out of curiosity because the place was formerly a pumphouse but later on converted to a restaurant. Other than that, nothing special. We would rather go Hogs Breath restaurant for their steaks than come here!

The food is good, or average, but cocktails are great and the place by itself is amazing. Best spot in town to enjoy the sunset by the river with a good drink.

Showed up Sunday night. No booking. All tables booked out hours in advance. Told off for sitting at table the were reserved yet empty, 2 hours before the reservation because we would leave drinks rings on the table surface and staff would have to clean again. Staff were rude. Drinks expensive and low quality liquor content. Visiting from out of town and unimpressed. Outside on the deck was lovely except for not being allowed to sit. Inside asked about sitting down as well and at 5pm told could not sit at tables that were booked for 630pm. Clearly this place does not understand hospitality. Felt like we were in the way the whole time. Would not recommend for the service or cost of drinks and rudeness of staff.

We didn't get to eat or drink here, we were under the impression they don't take bookings but there were reserved tables so perhaps we were misinformed. The rating is purely for the gorgeous location on the river.

The food was amazing! Try to book by emailing Dom who replies quickly. Such an amazing view before sunset and might find a baby crocodile swimming with the fishes 😍 also a cheeky French boy named Omar has such great suggestions.

Book a table inside, turn up just before sunset, enjoy some drinks on the terrace then head inside for the food. Follow these instructions and you will be satisfied. Bonus points for spotting the mass exodus of bats along the river. Cocktails were good and food was delicious. Plus they made no qualms about splitting our bill in half.
