Quite possibly the best potato cakes and fish bites I've ever had. Sad that it is our last night here and have to wait a few months until I can eat it again
Fantastic to find Gluten free fish and chips. Loved it! Thank you so much!
Very satisfying fish and chips. Batter was just right and crispy. Same with chips! Ordered over the phone so we thought we just have the basic fish and chips. We really should have tried other seafood as well. The fish was super fresh. Will definitely come here again if in Lakes Entrance.
Delicious fish and chips, perfectly battered and seasoned, fresh tasting fish.
The home made dim sims were great as well.
My partner was happy about the gluten free options.
Highly recommend.
First stop here, of course we must try the fish and chips. Verdict? OMG we love it, seafood is fresh. We will definitely be back ❤️ Highly recommended!
I recommend this place if you are gluten intolerant.
It's a big novelty to be able to enjoy battered fish and chips & even squid
Good vegetarian options too.
Highly recommended - located just off the footbridge
Went there a couple of times during our stay. Its a very pocket friendly place which serves some very good food. We tried their fish and chips(obviously), veg and chicken burger, dimsums, sweet potato cale and onion rings.
Everything was freshly prepared, crispy and tasted amazing. They have quite a big menu to offer as well.
I would definitely recommend this place if you there in lakes Entrance. Also not to mention the location is ideal opposite to the footbridge.
The crunchiest batter i can ever remember eating. Great value and high quality food. I will be back! Loved the sweet potato cakes! Wide range on menu.
This is one of my favourite fish n chip shops in victoria. We go here everytime we visit lakes entrance. Fish is always fresh. The batter is prefect and not too oily. Hands down the best and only place i now get fried scollops from. They are huge!
The staff are very friendly and helpful. The food is well priced, $15 for two pieces of Whiting and chips. The fish was fresh and tasty. However the chips were a bit bland.
There should be more fish and chip shops like this in Australia. Fresh fish, crisp chips and delicious. A whole gluten free menu where you can actually choose which fish you'd like. Friendly staff too. An all round winner.
Unique location, kind and friendly service but the food isn't anything flash. The seafood banquet for two was very filling and fresh but nothing special.
Would recommend somewhere else if you're looking to spend big dollars.
THE best fish & chips I've ever had hands down.. crispy light batter which is also gluten free!
Chips were golden and crispy, cooked in clean oil. REAL calamari rings too, not the frozen crumbed kind. Well priced for the area, would happily pay more for the quality of the food!!
happy customer :)
Food was delicious. Best fish n chips we've ever had. Glutten free batter and fish was perfect and the chicken burger was delicious. Thanks for your service too. Very happy family tonight with "Dad's" cooking! 😉
Staff were lovely and food was wonderful, ordered our usual order we would take in metro melbourne, got way more chips and the staff were so sweet. We had flake, and 6 calamari rings. Too bad lakes entrance sucks otherwise because this shop was lovely!!
Excellent gluten free fish and chips. Ordered fish and chips here recently and everything cooked perfectly. In addition, my wife who is a coeliac was particularly impressed with their gluten free menu and their attention to detail to ensure their was no cross contamination, including the use of a dedicated gluten free fryer and separate wrapping that was clearly marked "coeliac".
Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for delicious fish and chips including a range of gluten free options.
Great burger. Great fresh burger. Good potato cakes and fish bites too.
They need to co-ordinate the grill with the fryers much better though, as my burger sat there for 8 minutes while the busy fryers waited to be free. Other than that, really good.
Very happy. We've been visiting Lakes Entrance for a number of years and have only just found this little gem. We ordered gluten free fish and chips (gummy shark) all of which was beautifully cooked. The gluten free options are all celiac friendly as they are cooked in separate oil to the gluten options. The service was fantastic, the owner even managed to source some himalayan salt for us. We will definitely be returning here in the future.
Best fish and chips ever!. The blue grenadier was cooked to perfection, we got the seafood pack for one and an extra piece of fish and a fish cake to share between two of us, which was plenty! the serving of chips was very generous.
we got a fish and chips for snack later on during the day and the lemons were forgotten.
service could be improved, but definitely good value for money.
Had the best ever gluten free fish and chips tonight!!! The fish was so fresh. Delicious. Probably the best gf fish and chips I've ever had and better than gf fish and chips I've had in melbourne. Can't wait to have them again when back in lakes!
Great value. A lot of chips for the minimum $3, and a lot of chips for the fish and chips for 2 pack, good quality chips and fresh tasty fish, we had the blue gren.
Great Fish and Chips. We were here a couple of years ago and were told by locals it was the best fish and chippery in town. It was excellent. We were in Lakes again and my wife thought maybe it had changed hands and so enquired at the motel where we were staying. They said it had changed hands but was even better. The people here know their fish and chips. We went there for a meal and it was really great.
Perfectly cooked flathead, whiting, scallops, and potato cakes. Crispy batter, not too oily, reasonable prices and most generous serves. Fast and friendly service. Probably the best fish and chip shop in Victoria.
Fantastic gummy and chunky chips. Sweet potato cakes were great. Only let down was the mayo accompaniment. It just didn't taste right. Will be directing everyone to these guys when visting LE.
Excellent!! All seafood was fresh. Homemade dim sims are delicious! $5 chips was plenty for 6 adults and a couple of kids.
Great food, good price! Had the burger with the lot, and it was a meal all by itself, all fresh, just like homemade. Chips were tasty and nothing was greasy. Kids had the chicken burgers that were great too (more like a snitzel burger!) $4 chips box fed 2 adults and 2 boys (11yrs) and with the burgers left us full to capacity. Would go again anytime.
Fresh, crunchy and delicious!
Flake was melt in your mouth and chips were cooked perfectly.
Must be good if locals like it. I had anticipated eating my weight in fish and chips when I went to Lakes Entrance, but the way it worked out, I only had one occasion where I was going to have the stereotypical seaside grease-bomb meal. Which of the four or five chipperys in town to try? I rambled up and down The Esplanade looking at them all, and Footbridge was getting the most foot traffic. I reckoned the majority of the other punters couldn’t be wrong (and listening to the conversations, there were a lot of local folks ordering.) I’m pleased I did. I can’t say it was a transfigurative dining experience -- t’s fish and chips, not bloody gourmet food -- but my fillet was large, crispy-crusted and clean-tasting. There were so many chips wrapped in enough newsprint paper to kit out a weekly shopping rag that I can see where the expression “cheap as ______” came from. But these fat chips were good enough that I ate ‘em all. Didn’t throw any to the mob of gulls that were shrieking at me as I chowed down on a park bench beside the waterway. If I had to choose one chippery to be transported to on a magic carpet, I’d go for Clamm’s on Acland in Melbourne, but that’s 350 K away, so Footbridge is a great alternative when you’e in Lakes.
The owner was really friendly, fish was fresh and the calamari was delicious . Minimum chips was heaps (way too much for the 2 of us!) will go back again.
Great fish and chips!! Batter on the fish was delicate and crisp and the chips were nice and chunky and perfectly cooked! Nothing fancy about the shop but the people are friendly and on a nice day these fish and chips are perfect for eating down by the water.
Recommended by a local. Great fish n chips. Crunchy batter, not too thick, not greasy. Good quantity of chips. Better by far than the other place we tried on the main drag. Will return.
All I can say is 'Thank you'! We just chanced upon this humble fish and chippery, which ended being one of our favourite finds in Lakes Entrance. We ordered the seafood pack for 2 and not only did the flake, scallop, prawn, calamari, crab stick and chips prove to be finger licking good (we were so full we couldn't finish the chips!), they gave us extra! Will definitely order here again when I return!
One particularly friendly staff member (short coloured hair female with tattoos) was nice to deal with but each time we go we seem to get a grumpy/rushed employee with no time of day for us.
Luckily the food is stellar for a fish and chip shop - crunchy chips, great batter used on battered sausage, great dim sims. Could easily throw a few more chips into a 5 dollar batch as it’s not much but aside from that great food. Go here at least once a month.
