Review Zegov Restaurant - Lalor

Decided to pop in for a quick lunch. Mixed meat platter 2 was ordered and arrived pretty quickly. All the meat was delicious. Seasoned well and hot. We sat outside so I can’t comment on the ambience however I will return and update this review.

Great Macedonian cuisine. Dined here again - and WOW! hospitality & service was amazing. Delicious food, meat flavorsome & cooked to perfection. Salads loaded with flavour and every other side dish was of high quality and taste. I've been here numerous times and have taken many friends here too, without a doubt, never disappointed. Always leave with a full belly and satisfied feeling. 👌 highly recommended, give it a go.

Wow! Dishes full of life and flavour. I cannot fault any dish we ordered. Great, friendly service too. I highly recommend any of the meat dishes, salads and if you’re game, try the charcoaled hot chillies in yoghurt sauce 👌🏻

It was nice to try Macedonian food. Staff were friendly and respectful. Music was nice but was a little loud and people had talk loud together then. Overall is recommended

Honestly, this food is just delicious. I wish I lived closer. Tastes good, is fresh and can tell it is made with love.

The best grill in the town. Make sure you try the fried cheese and their homemade Tulumbi (sweets). I highly recommend to everyone to visit this authentic Macedonian bar and grill ! We will be back!!!!

Best maco food in AUS great service great prices. Booking again soon and will start having birthdays here as a excuse just to eat there again. Great job guys will recomend you anytime

This is a family-run restaurant serving traditional Macedonian food at amazingly low prices. The gargantuan pork ribs pictured here cost $22! If you are a meat-lover who wants a hearty, no-frills meal and friendly service, make your way here. They can get really busy on Friday nights and weekends so call ahead to book a table.

Good traditional Macedonian grill, good service with decent serving sizes. The restaurant gets very busy so I would recommend booking. Would definitely return

Just like the days when we had to do cleaning jobs...only across the road!<br/><br/>Don't judge a book by its cover...great Balkan food, very feeling with a great atmosphere! Downside-hamburger buns from the local Asian bakery.<br/><br/>All in all still, still give ur a 4 of 5 (regardless of the Kmart table cloths!)

It is well signed just not at night the outside isn't lit up! The menu has good choice and reasonable priced. The food was good and service was attentive! Overall for a local feed better than expected really!

A great little surprise! Home-style cooking without being at home! We had my grandmothers 80th birthday lunch here and the staff could not have been more accommodating. The waitress was extremely helpful in placing our order. We told her we wanted a selection of meat, salads, and starters for 20 people and she worked out the rest. They knew the menu well and even catered for allergies. Every meal was modestly tasty, fresh, and generous. The food came out slow enough to enjoy each course without being rushed or feeling overly stuffed. There was enough to go around for everyone and we even had some leftovers. The wait staff were 10/10. You never had to wait to call them over and order drinks. Highly recommend for large group bookings.

There were only 2 other people seated at this place when I came here with my partner and it was still a 40 minute wait before any food came out.<br/><br/>We got the pork fillet with smoked ham and cheese and also the chicken skewers wrapped in "prosciutto".<br/><br/>I was hoping that after the long wait, that the food would at least be top notch but the pork was so dry that we could barely get it down our throats.<br/><br/>The prosciutto wrapped chicken skewers were also dry but not as unbearably dry as the pork was. It was however quite salty and I got two very different skewers on my plate; one had small pieces of chicken with a minimal amount of cured meat in between them, the other had large chunks of chicken that were wrapped in thick strips of bacon! I thought that I was paying for prosciutto - I feel ripped off.<br/><br/>They served us a basket of cut up bread. I didn't really get why, it was just bread. Maybe if it were toasted with some herb or garlic butter or served with some dip, it would be okay but it was just plain bread. I know that I'm nitpicking now and my biggest gripes remain with the waiting time, the dried up pork and my bacon wrapped skewer that was advertised as prosciutto.<br/><br/>I will not be back.

Ok. Straight off the bat. This is a place for people who like traditional charcoal grilled meat. If you're vegetarian, it's not really the place for you per se. I come from a Balkan background and while my family isn't Macedonian, I am a VERY big fan of Macedonian cuisine. This is gooooooood quality charcoal grilled meat. My son had one of the burgers which was ENORMOUS. It's so big that they have to use a wooden skewer to hold it together. My son is 6 and loved it. They give you chips inside the burger. It sounds strange but it tastes divine. Of course my son couldn't finish the MASSIVE portion, so I happily helped him out. Haha.<br/><br/>My wife went for the Lovacka, which is a meat patty shaped like a half moon and full of melted cheese goodness. Amazing! Slightly salty, but not too much. <br/><br/>I went with the mixed grill number 3, which comes with five little kebapi (delectable skinless garlicky sausages), a skewer of charcoal grilled pork and grilled chicken. Wow. Both my wife's and my dishes came with vinegared raw cabbage salad, a bit of chilli pepper on the side and raw onions. It was PERFECT. :)<br/><br/>They gave us some complimentary bread - which tasted really good!<br/><br/>Also, they sell Zlaten Dab, which, in my humble opinion is THE BEST MACEDONIAN BEER ever. It's up there with my favourite beers ever, actually.<br/><br/>The prices are very reasonable!<br/><br/>The service was friendly, although the cooking time was a bit slow - but it's worth the wait!!<br/><br/>The staff were all very accommodating and professional.<br/><br/>They also split tabs, which is super helpful when you have a big group eating like we did.<br/><br/>Top stuff! I can't wait to come back again soon for my birthday! :)

Don't come here to talk, it is too loud. Do come here for huge portions of authentic Balkan food. The šopska salad is always amazing, you can't go wrong with the Pljeskavica either. Good prices. Recommended.

Great find!. We decided to come here as a family last night after driving past for over 12months. So glad we did! The service was good and friendly. The food was delicious. It was like a Macedonian BBQ. The dips were really tasty too. I definitely recommend and can't wait to go back.

Fantastic! I came here for the first time with a few friends, the service was great, the food was amazing and the prices are good! The pleskavica was great and I will definitely be back soon to get my fix.

Walked in on a Sunday night with friends, no booking. Staff were friendly and accommodated all 12 of us. The restaurant was full. <br/>Reasonably priced. Good servings so good value for money. The meals are simple but tasty. Try the Makallo and the Nafora. All the Mixed Grills are great especially Char Grill 3. Also the Kebapi are great and cooked to perfection as is the Sarma. Would definately come back.

Loved it. Great service, comfortable temperature on a cold night. Nice surroundings, not too much lighting, being at night . I had Kebapi, which were good quality meat, cooked just right. They came with chopped fresh onion, chilli, finely chopped cabbage salad, with an olive on top of the cabbage and a basket of bread rolls. I chose a red wine. For dessert I had one Talumba. This was freshly cooked for me. Modern Macedonian music was playing in the background.<br/><br/>highly recommend Zegov Charcoal grill Thomastown.

No Burgers after 5pm. I have been here a few times and the food is great. I just don't understand why they stop selling burgers after 5pm, even if you want it as a take away order they refuse to make it if it is after 5pm. Wouldn't think it is that hard to put a meat pattie, chips (and any other ingredients) in a bun. Otherwise it's pretty good. Definitely recommend (but if you want to try their burger then go before 5pm).

Mix grill!!!!. The best mixed grill and kebapi in the northern suburbs!!!
