Sir And Mlady Dine Out
+4
Sharing smaller plates is something we really enjoy and often do this with many cuisines but with tapas, it is simply perfect. With Tapas you can get to sample and savour many scrumptious dishes. It’s a bit like having Mediterranean yum cha for dinner. We were initially going to order six dishes but our waiter said that the four or five would be enough. Allowing for Sir’s appetite we went for five dishes which we just managed to finish. This advice was really appreciated.
I’m so glad we decided to step out of our regular haunts. We use to hang out at Lane Cove heaps and haven’t been back in awhile but how it’s been changed since.
We decided on 3 tapas and a mains with some bread rolls to mop up the formers. Ordered a set of the kids menu to supplement the above- comes with a juice and an ice cream dessert.
Tapas:
Grilled Octopus, mushroom with garlic oil & croquettes. Best part of having come bread rolls? Mopping up the sauce from the first 2 tapas. Kids wanted in on the tapas more than their meal set.
Kids:
Meatballs with Bravas; kids love the potatoes and the adult took advantage sneaking in by mopping the gravy with our bread! Good encouragement for the kids finish fast so can bring out the dessert!
Mains:
Beef cheeks. One of the most underrated parts of the animal. So tender and the red wine in the sauce was outstanding! Kids love these too!
Excellent service with a smile and the proprietors obviously know a thing or 2 of customers service! I’ve been to 2 of 4 of their branches. Both didn’t disappoint!!
To be honest, I got to the restaurant late & my friends had already ordered for the table. I’m not exactly sure of everything that we ate, but everything that we had were delicious. Can’t say I ever had razor clams from a tin before, or initially that excited being served something from a tin, but it was interesting & not fishy. The scallop in saffron cream & the lamb skewers were my favourites. My friends couldn’t get enough of the Bacadillos, I found it lacking in a sauce or not enough of. Overall a lovely lunch.
We have fond memories of the original Encasa in the city as one of the first Spanish restaurants we tried in Sydney, which kicked off our love affair with the cuisine. Fortunately for us, Encasa has expanded to the lower north shore with an eatery on the main strip in Lane Cove, decked out in rustic chic decor.
Encasa Restaurant has been around for 20 years serving traditional Spanish food and my very first memory of dining at Encasa was with Matt after finishing a class at University. It was my first time tasting Spanish food and I completely fell in love with it. I'd highly recommend their tabla mixta (antipasti board). You can order different boards with meats such as Jamon Iberico (17 month cured Spanish ham), Salchichon (dry cured white pig sausage) or Jamon Bellota (24 month cured black pig Spanish ham). If you're not sure, you can get a mixture of Salchichon, Jamon Iberico and Manchego (featured above). It's a great way to kick off an eventful night.
One of our favourite local spots. Non pretentious food, with good portions and the best sangria.. garlic prawns with a bread roll and the paella are must haves. Ask for a side of chilli to go with it!
Came as a guest! Plenty to like here. The Paella Valenciana which is Saffron rice with chicken and seafood is really big portion and they are not stingy with the seafood and the prawns are quite big! Definitely worth trying! The other dishes which include lamb skewers, scallops, sizzling prawns are all worth trying also. Lane Cove you are lucky to have this restaurant there!
Finally got a chance to visit this restaurant. It was a pleasant place to eat on a special night out as it is expensive for casual dining. We ordered the prawn croquettes, garlic prawns, beef tenderloin, and finally the prawn and calamari wet rice. Croquettes were so good ! Garlic prawns were also a crowd favourite with some good crusty bread. Tenderloin was average and disappointing would not recommend. The wet rice arrived served in it's pot. Super hearty and flavourful main, though it becomes one dimensional after a while. Still enjoyable ! Overall, I think for a weekday night, service was a bit slow, however they were friendly and professional. It was also quite noisy/bustling in the space, and so it was difficult to have conversation. Other than that, would like to return to try the paella !
First time at Encasa Lane Cove although I’ve been to their other branch and deli. We visited on a Wednesday night and when we arrive it was almost full. Service is friendly and efficient. The jamon here is as good as the ones we had in Spain and they tell us it’s because everything is imported from Spain- no wonder! We particularly enjoyed the garlic prawns and slow cooked beef cheek, very indulgent. Very enjoyable night and would definitely visit again soon.
Encasa is a Spanish restaurant that is famous for their delicious and authentic tapas and paella. They opened a second branch in Lane Cove and we came here for dinner one night, keen to try it out as we are big fans of the Pitt Street store. To start we ordered some special sangria. It was delicious and fruity, the perfect drink to go with the food.
Delicious food and very friendly staff - customer service was amazing. Great ambience, interior design, bar and lots of menu options! Loved the beef cheek!
Encasa is a Spanish treat - with multiple spots throughout Sydney, the extended menu at the Lane Cove restaurant makes this a must if you are looking for a feast of tasty dishes and fine sangria.
As a starter we had a meat and cheese plate to wet our appetite for what was the come. With a great selection of cured sausages, ham and freshly toasted sourdough rolls/bread it's a very casual and relaxed way to ease into the meal. This was followed with a couple of tapas options. The sizzling king prawns in garlic and chilli were tasty and the bread left over from the starter was put to good use in the oil. The beef cheeks in red wine were melt in your mouth delicious.
These options were followed with a main of Paella Valenciana - saffron infused rice, cooked with chicken, mussels and prawns. This was the absolute star of the dinner and while we were full from the tapas options, managed to finish the whole pan of paella - and I have no regrets.
If you are heading in we suggest that you book a table as it is busy most nights and occupied by the locals - who know where to grab a great meal with a warm and inviting atmosphere.
This visit was by invite.
We came in the late afternoon, a quiet day, only a few people in the restaurant.
The best way I can describe this place is HOW STUNNINGLY AUTHENTICALLY SPANISH it is. The tapas are very delicious, but the PAELLAS are the stars of the show. As someone who had never seen the paellas before, the moment I laid eyes on them I was starstruck and mesmerized, and it was even better when I tasted it. Honestly, I was ADDICTED. It felt like I was actually in Spain.
If you're after an authentic Spanish experience, this place is perfect. Perfect for families, groups, or a romantic date.
Encasa in Lane Cove is an outpost from the much loved original on Pitt Street in Sydney CBD. We started with the Marinated white anchovies with toasted sourdough. The anchovies were XL in size and very flavorsome, with strong hints of lemon. Marinated white anchovies served with toasted sourdough
Same great bocadillo menu at the suburban outlet of this Spanish restaurant; the chorizo one is a favourite, and with Spanish sausage, roasted capsicum and aioli is bursting with flavour.
Great Tapas place to enjoy a great blend of food.
Had beef cheeks, to much salt in the sauce.
Scallops was decent, cooked to perfection but unfortunately sauce to strong. Overpowering Scallops.
Squid was amazing, crunchy and full of flavours.
Deep fried Calamari hit the spot as usual.

Bocadillo is Spanish for sandwich. After reading their intriguing sandwich menu on my first visit to Encasa Restaurant in Lane Cove, I returned on the weekend to road test these lunch favourites personally. While bocadillos emerged from peasant food, over time these long Spanish rolls have evolved into universally popular Spanish eats. There’s nothing particularly peasant-like about the hunks of tender eye fillet medallions on the Pepito ($16.00). With fried egg and cheese, as well as lettuce, tomato and aioli, this is a dense, stomach-satisfying lunch. Presented on long freshly baked baguettes, the bocadillos here are presented without fanfare, sliced in half on shiny silver plates. Before you get too disappointed, turn your Boquerones ($12) around and see...
Great sangria! Encasa is quickly becoming my go to place here. I had the pepito sandwich and the sangria for lunch. The pepito was great as always - the bread was crunchy but not hard and the meat just melts in your mouth. This was the first time I tried there sangria however and - wow - it was just what I was craving; refreshing, lightly sparkling and not overly sweet(yet by no means bitter! You can barely taste the alcohol). I will definitely come back the whole place feels very genuine and the lady working there is always so nice and friendly. Only thing that drags the point down is the price - it's good value(big sandwich big glass of wine) but definitely not a cheap eat, the deli in the city is cheaper I think. And the cheese in the pepito seem to be tasty cheese but cheese in this country is so freaking expensive that I'll let it slide! I unfortunately only took a photo of the sangria but oh well! I love tapas so I'll probably come here some day for dinner :)
Encasa Lane Cove is more of the same greatness as their other two venues, some of the best Spanish food (I have eaten) in Sydney. If you haven't been to any of their venues you need to change this immediately. If you live in the Lane Cove area may I introduce your new local. Get the sizzling prawns and if in the area during the day smash a few of those heavenly Bocadillos.
Check out the full review on Spooning now and have a great day :).
Finally some fine Spanish cuisine in the burbs.
Tapas were generously sized and well priced.
Calamari was crisp and complimented with a squid ink Mayo - Yum!
The Octopus was nice n charred but a little chewy.
The fig salad was refreshing but not part of their everyday menu 😕.
The prime lamb skewers were cooked well and made with just the right cut. Often lamb skewers are fatty but dry, this was the opposite. Full of flavour and beautifully tender.
Mussels were moist and cooked just right, we mopped up all the sauce with their fluffy sourdough bread rolls & it was well worth the carbs.
The saffron paella was plump and crisp around the edges with a great selection of fresh seafood and chicken.
Food was good but service was a little let down, some of the waitresses kept forgetting our order or had a bit of trouble understanding English. So if you've waited a while for an order double check with another wait staff 😁.
Encasa in the CBD has long been a popular place for Spanish tapas and cured meats. Over the last year, owners Maria Barona and Francisco Rodriguez have expanded, opening two more city venues including an “express” takeaway in Chifley Plaza, and this cosy restaurant in their home turf of Lane Cove. A couple of friends and I checked it out the other night, and were pleasantly surprised by the tasty, well priced food, and the added benefit of being able to BYO. The staff were also very attentive and friendly.
Lovely little Spanish restaurant in the heart of Lane Cove. Reasonably priced, fresh, tasty and authentic. Their tapas is great: I recommend the garlic prawns, fried calamari and their yummy potatoes. Actually everything we tried was good! They are licensed plus allow BYO. We have been there twice, the service was friendly and efficient on both occasions. I'm looking forward to trying their breakfast next!
Great tapas experience today. There were 3 of us and we were told 2 tapas per person would be suitable. Just so you know, this was a hell of a lot of food. Lucky I was hungry and the food was good, otherwise we would have struggled. The stand out were the beefcheeks (see photo) so tender and great flavour. The fried potatoes, chorizo and meatballs were excellent as well. The baby octopus though was a little over cooked, but very tasty none the less. Very friendly service as well.
When I heard Encasa - my favourite tapas restaurant - had now expanded to Lane Cove, I was very excited. Encasa is located in the main strip of the Lane Cove shops. Since opening up in Lane Cove, I've been told that they have regulars who come in once or twice a week with their families. When I arrive on a random Tuesday night, the venue is packed by 7pm. I finally got around to trying Encasa tonight, a Spanish restaurant with tasty tapas. On arrival we find out they don't serve alcohol but offer BYO at no charge... amazing!! (Far too many restaurants in Lane Cove with over priced BYO). Overall it was a lovely evening with friendly staff and tasty food. We had the salt and pepper squid, octopus, lamb squeezers, omelette and mushrooms. Highlight was the octopus - fresh and full of flavor. With the mushrooms being far too salty, we couldn't finish them.
Will definitely be back
Encasa is one of my absolute favourite restaurants, and I have been to the Chinatown one a ridiculous amount of times. When I found out they had opened in Lane Cove, I was quite excited as it meant it would be slightly closer to home and parking would not be as much of a hassle. Although I preferred the atmosphere of the city location more (considering Lane Cove is new it is shinier, brighter as opposed to the cosy, intimate, dim lighting in the city), the food was delicious as always.
My favourites are the scallops, garlic oil prawns, and bravas so naturally these three were ordered. We also got a salad for some freshness, and bread rolls. Everything was delightful and I was pretty pleased to have some Encasa in my life after what I felt like a long break! Even my friend who usually doesn’t finish one serving, was still happily munching away past the full stage saying “but it’s just so good”. We were only a bit let down because they’re not able to serve their delicious sangria yet, so we had to miss out this time around. 😦
I always booked for Chinatown Encasa, and seems same deal here as we hadn’t booked and were given a time limit. Felt slightly rushed towards the end even though there didn’t seem to be any people waiting, but they had let us know in the beginning of when they needed the table back so understandable. If you are closer to Lane Cove, it’s time to get excited as there is now an Encasa near you!
Another great addition to the Lane Cove dining scene. Now that's a phrase that didn't exist 10 years ago.
Great service, awesome food, great prices, good for kids etc. Too many boxes got ticked. Our 13YO junior giant had the calamari and potato kids meal, despite being over the age cutoff of 12 years. Tiny tender calamari, lightly dusted and fried to perfection along with crispy potato and a simple salad. Salad of course is something from another planet so was somewhat neglected. More for us. They decided he was too big for the usual apple juice so gave him a double, at no extra cost. That was followed with 4 skewers of the most tender lamb I have eaten, dressed with moroccan spices. I suspect there was a bit of sous vide involved before the lamb was seared on the grill. The boss and I had a lovely mixed salad, perfectly cooked scallops in a deliciously rich sauce and the garlic, chilli prawns. The scallops and prawns were perfectly cooked. The prawns were too salty but tasty and crisp. We finished up with freshly cooked churros with a rich chocolate dipping sauce. Chocolate is not my thing at all, but I went back for seconds. We will be back soon to try some of the other amazing dishes that we saw walking past. en casa mi casa
Encasa at Lane Cove is an authentic Spanish restaurant serving up an extensive menu of delicious tapas and traditional Spanish cuisine, all in a casual and welcoming environment. The Lane Cove location is one of the newest Encasa venues, with three others including the original full restaurant located in Sydney CBD.
I’ve been to this place a few times and so nice to be back and see it bustling after covid restrictions have eased across Sydney. The staff are energised, they’re enjoying themselves and it’s buzzing so you’re already having a good time. Then there’s the food-no matter what you order it’s fresh and delicious.
300mls of Sangria for $10 and you’re in for an awesome evening. Best for groups so that you can try something of everything!!
Absolutely divine! Best Spanish restaurant I've ever been to!
We have been more than three times and none have disapointed. Outstanding food and very friendly staff. Creamy mash potato, very well seasoned octopus and mouthwatering paella is just a taste of what they have to offer. Highly Recomended!
One of the best Spanish places I've been to. The food is very good, although honestly I feel it's not quite what it was a year or two ago.
Service is very good, although it's a little off-putting to be served by someone who doesn't know how to pronounce half the things on the menu. Regardless, still my favorite Spanish place!
Great local. Food is delicious and service is amazing. We sat outside with the dog which they gave a bowl of water. Highly recommend it.
Every tapas dish we ordered was perfect; better than anything I had in Barcelona.
Lamb skewers were tender and rich.
Patatas bravas were on point.
The salami had the perfect texture and flavour.
Croquets.. oh my god the croquets..
The traditional sangria was the best I've tasted, light and sweet.
Service was very friendly and with a smile.
Menu pricing is very good considering the quality.
A truly 5 star experience. I can't wait to have my birthday here, any excuse to come back.
Long time no to eat Spain food, so this weekend I go to here to have dinner. I order white Granacha wine which is wonderful. 😊
This place is amazing. The food is delicious and 100% Spanish; the paella is the best and the Sangria is wonderful! Staff are friendly and pretty kind! Great experience!
I ordered the seafood paella plus the squid ink pork belly bao as a side and both were very delicious. The wait time is quite long for the paella but it was well worth it. The paella was full of flavour but not too oily. The servings were decent, perhaps a little small for $28 per person. Seafood was definitely fresh. The pork belly was very crunchy and melts in your mouth!
