Their cakes are amazing. I can’t choose between the cheesecake and mud cake and their very reasonably priced.
Pro tip: the mud cake is especially decadent after 10 seconds in the microwave.
Nice cake cafe hidden in allay way in Lane Cove, I order Stella Cake and coffee, the cake is nice and light, i would like to try the watermelon cake next time.
Watermelon Cake : 😍 Amazing
Specially known for their watermelon cakes, we just had to get a slice. It was refreshing and light. It wasn’t too sweet and was a good choice to have for afternoon tea. They also have a range of hot food and bigger slabs of cakes that I’m dying to return and try one day.
Some of the best cakes on the North Shore. So many different varieties to choose from. The best thing is they come in 3 different sizes, do perfect for whatever occasions. I got a few of the smaller size pieces, so we get to try a few of them. Totally love the Matcha, layered macaron with butter cream cake. The rest were pretty good too.
I occasionally come to Lane Cove just to have my daily dose of sweetness. I'm usually satisfied with my watermelon cake - hands-down the best in Sydney! 🍉🍰 Staff are always so lovely, the cakes and pies are scrumptious, enough to make you drool as you walk through the lane eyeing at the cakes! 😋🤤🎂👀
Alana cake-chocolate, raspberry, salted caramel was sooooooo delicious. Definitely gonna get a bigger version of this next time. Its got the right texture i like, creamy but not too soft creamy.

Thanks for the cakes!
Ordered variety of their cakes in the past including this chocolate one (don't remember exactly what it is)
This shop is tucked away in an alley of Lane Cove and is very easy to miss. Though if you live in the area and you need a quick and easy party cake that is affordable and delicious I would easily recommend the cake man. Always moist and not too sweet.
Brought the family for a quick lunch on a Sunday. Pies and coffee are nice and price reasonable. Nothing extravagant but hit the spot. Good service... Everything is basic, simple but done well.
Love the pies and pastries here. Coffee is really good as well. On a warm day I recommend the iced coffees they are awesome. I had the quiche this morning with a coffee and both as usual were great. Friendly and quick service as well.
Cakes, Pies, Tarts, Quiches and more Cakes!
When in need of a cake you know who to call....The Cake Man! (insert superhero theme)
This place has a lot and i mean lots of varieties of cakes, pies, tarts etc. On one side you have the coffee area and mini cakes etc on the opposite end they have the cakes for birthdays and other special occasions. The seating area is along side the arcade and at the back of the store.
They serve hot pies and sausage rolls as well as small quiches or family sized quiches for those quick dinner nights.
Order and pay at the counter if you would like to dine in. They will hand you a table number and bring out your food/coffee.
Can be a bit slow if there is queue waiting to be served but staff are friendly and helpful.
Great cakes. I mean amazing cakes! And the owner makes you feel very welcome. I love everything they do and their expansion while a lot of other local lane cove shops is a testament to them. Keep up the great work cake man
Unbelievable baked goods. Sam the baker is there himself, all the time, in his floury apron, keeping an eye on things. Friendly and helpful staff making coffee and selling delicious pastries. They now have a new sit down space in the Plaza that boasts a proper food menu. It's about time there was something decent in that collection of mediocre, generic over-priced cafe/restaurants ling that plaza. I hope Sam the Cake Man and his expanded venture thrive.
Is there a quintessential vanilla slice in Sydney? The Cake Man, in a nondescript arcade in Lane Cove, has a pretty good go at it. Flaky pastry, oozy custard, and not too sweet. Get there before lunch or you won’t find any.
Yum treats. I love how this cafe/patisserie sells little bite-sized versions of all its goodies- means you can fit more flavours into one sitting! I purchased a mini mud cake ($3.50) and a mini banoffee tart ($4.50). The mud cake was beautiful and rich, if a touch on the dry side. The banoffee tart had a wonderful caramel and banana filling, as well as a delicious base, but I was less enamoured of the topping- I think it was some kind of mascarpone cream thing? It had good texture but was completely flavourless! Still, I enjoyed both my treat immensely and will definitely be returning. The counter woman who packaged my purchases was pleasant and friendly and the location, while busy, does have a nice community feel.
Update: Ordered for take-away the mini baked cheesecake ($3.50) and the nutella cream puff ($4.50). The cheesecake was lovely although it lacked the biscuit base that I personally really like. Its not very rich, which is good and bad depending on your preference. The nutella cream puff did not taste like nutella at all...didn't even taste chocolatety. So all up the puff was a boring eat.
Service at the counter was very friendly and warm.
Wow!. Best cakes ever! But pricey but definitely worth it.
Best quiches in town. Pies.... Best quiches in town.
Pies are awesome.
YUMMMMM. I bought the Chocolate and Rasberry Cake for a birthday at work and WOW. It was so delicious. Not to rich but just enough. Loved it. Will definitely buy cakes from there again.
Best cakes and pies on the north shore!
I've ordered cake many times from Cake man. They bake fresh and yummy cakes. Hazelnut and red velvet are my recent favourites. Prices are reasonable too (1 kg $30) They also have gelatine free cakes. Give it a try :)

We bought a lemon and meringue tart for my wife's birthday. It was delicious and was a great blend of tart and (not too) sweet. We thoroughly enjoyed it.
We found the lady who served us (Apple) to he very helpful and attentive. It's a nice touch how they name their cakes after staff members, and makes it easier to order.
My go to place when I crave a couple of pieces of cake. Chocolate Raspberry Macaroon cake and Caramelised Millie Feullie are my favourites. You can also get a small cake (4") to regular cake (7") between $20 to $50. I think their service improved since their ownership change about 3-4 years ago in general.
The most delicious and extensive array of super yummy hot and cold things. Can’t walk past this fabulous place.
Great cakes! Not sure why so many bad reviews. I got there at 8:30am and needed a last minute cake for my mums birthday. There was heaps of choice and the staff were really helpful and friendly. I bought the orange and almond cake and it was amazing! Everyone loved it.
