Review Geronimo Aperitivo Bar And Restaurant - Launceston

Mark Chaimungkalanont
Solid quality pan-Mediterranean food. Good varieties of vegetarian dishes and side dishes. The broad beans falafel is especially excellent. Lobster pasta is excellent, although is a little short on actual lobster, delicious sauce though. Wine list by the bottle is extensive, more limited by the glass but a good range. Has outdoor tables that are dog friendly.

Food was very nicely presented, all looked amazing! Taste-wise though bit of a miss, nothing outstanding except the anchovy crostini which was unique! The king prawn ravioli was also very chewy which was weird, otherwise it would've been great. Nice atmosphere, friendly staff and good portion sizes.

Overall this restaurant has so much potential, but a cumulating list of execution errors results in a disappointing dining experience. Food The menu reads really well, and the idea of many entrees with one main and sides is great. What we received was average at best. Octopus was so over cooked we were chewing for minutes on each bite. Empanadas were alright but the onion jam was incredibly acidic. The kingfish sashimi was enjoyable, probably needs more dressing to bring the dish together. The sourdough flatbread was solid. I’d suggest having oil and balsamic or butter as a side to this. Corn ravioli was unusual but enjoyable. For main we had lobster pasta. It was as if the chef did t taste the dish before sending it out. Completely bland. No seasoning whatsoever. The sides of zucchini was average and the mixed leaves did the job. The portion sizes were overall massive. Way too much food. I’d have preferred half as much with an increase in quality of execution. There was about 400g of pasta and about 40g of lobster and 4 cherry tomatoes. Way too much pasta and not enough of everything else including sauce. For what the price was I certainly felt ripped off. Drinks I absolutely love you can get cocktails in half serves. Allows you to try your way through a few on the menu. I had intended on trying 6 half size drinks. In the end I only had 3 and the main reason was the staff lacked attentiveness. At every other restaurant I go to, when the drink is empty they take the glass and ask what to have next. I had an empty glass twice for more than 15 minutes and none of the staff noticed. Was certainly a dampener on the experience. Overall Get the chefs to taste the food and season accordingly. Adjust the portion sizes down. Make staff reasonably attentive. This place will be the best restaurant in town. It’s so so close but missed the mark in so many ways.

We really enjoyed our dining experience here, although found it was too much food and on the expensive side. The decor inside is nice and it's a pretty chilled ambience. The food was all tasty. We went for the second menu option with a selection of small plates and a standard main to share. It was nice. Would recommend a visit.

We ordered the oysters, wallaby arancini and prawn ravioli. Each dish was scrumptious, fresh and packed with so much flavour. The service was brilliant too. Will be returning multiple times!

Went with my wife to celebrate her BD, had a lovely dinner here. The menu reads well, and the idea of many entrees with one main and sides was great. We decided to try a set menu and chose Signature main to share with 5 small plates for the table. It was one of the best restaurant experiences we had in Tasmania, the best restaurant in Launceston so far. The place itself is very cosy and the service was great, we served 5 small plates at reasonable intervals helped to keep the table from looking crowded. Although the Charred Stanley octopus was a little bit overcooked, the Beef Carpaccio (raw) and the Kingfish Crudo (sashimi) were out of this world, totally well prepared and delicious. The Empanada had stuffed well with braised beef, and the Local crab & corn ravioli was puffed up soft and fully cooked. Our main was Lamb Rump, cooked exactly as ordered (medium) served with eggplant as a side, which was so flavoursome. Overall, although the food was a little bit pricey for the portion, the taste was perfect, we were extremely impressed with our meals. We will definitely be returning.

My taste buds are still salivating over this experience. It was heaven on a plate, such amazing options all cooked to perfection. From the meat to the veggies, and of course the dessert. I was just loving every mouth full. Definitely grab a good bottle of wine to enhance the experience. Lovely staff too, Nicole was the best! Can’t wait to be back again!!

Wow , wow , wow .. I recently dined at this gorgeous little hidden gem .. The minute we walked in the door I was in ❤️!! The ambience , the staff , the bar --- all took our breath away .. There is nothing more thrilling than staff who know their products and an owner who is on the floor to mingle ! The food was exquisite , to say the least . The eatery was full on arrival but we were politely Offered a seat at the bar ! Which is where we stayed to dine - our choice .. We went back 2 nights later .. That speaks for itself ! You know your stuff Jeremy !! Keep doing what you're doing and don't lose that chef or your wait staff ! Can I purchase shares ? .. Get around this place everyone ! ❤️

We booked online while driving to Launceston and needed an early dinner before a show. Booking was easy, service when we arrived was outstanding and all staff were extremely attentive and courteous. Both the food and drinks menu is extensive and our meal was absolutely deliscious. The atmosphere, lighting and music added to a very relaxed enjoyable experience. We will definitely be back and highly recommend Geronimo.

Loving the new menu and the chef really delivered with last night's food. Everything was bursting with flavour, amazing varied vegetarian menu, gnocchi was to die for! My only grumble is that I think the restaurant would have benefitted from a few more wait staff on a busy Friday night. Service was so so.

We are not from tassie so googled and found this place. It was excellent in every way, service excellent, menu interesting and everything we had was delicious, drinks list also excellent, and atmosphere great. We went to a very raved about winery for lunch and were disappointed.... Geronimos was better in every way. Well done.

First time at Geronimo’s last night - and what a sumptuous treat. I’ve been to many musical events that embrace the soul primarily through the ears, this was a parallel but through the taste-buds. An absolutely top-notch enjoyable experience. Thanks staff for all the thought and care that obviously goes into these delightful dishes!

Very poor food - tortellini was ndercooked and ridiculously expensive - $22 for 4 pieces of crunchy tortellini. The chicken was barely warm when it arrived and was still red inside - I would recommend you eat elsewhere

One of the standouts in Lonnie. Food with a difference, original and clever. Good ingredients elevated on the plate by people who know how to treat them well. I've had two deeply lovely meals there and will definitely be back. If I lived in Launceston I'd be dropping by regularly and working my way through the drinks menu. It's almost worth moving house.

What a gem. Dined here last night and really loved it. The service was attentive and the food was very impressive. We enjoyed the Quattro formaggio pizza, cauliflower and an incredibly delightful 'kitchen sink' dessert! The wine list was solid and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. Would definitely eat here again! Next time I'd also try a cocktail as they looked very cool. Thanks for a lovely evening!

Very expensive food and wine. Small share plates for 21 dollars is way over priced. The lamb dish large main was good, 38 dollars.

Great menu. Attentive staff, good service. A must if in Launceston.

After been told rave reviews of this restaurant our group of holiday travellers were really looking forward to the experience! Well what an experience all right, totally ripped off!! Most of our party ordered pizza and that was memorable in itself, we have never had pizza's before with "less" ingredients. When asked by our waiter 'how we enjoyed our meal' I had to tell him his chef needed to learn how to make a pizza. His comment was 'that's the Italian way'. Seems like the less you put on the more you can charge. It's just a pity we were all starving because we ate the offerings regardless but take my advice give this place the wide berth...

Beautiful tasting menu for our wedding Anniversary! Delicious food and great service. We will be back !

Amazing dishes, lamb ribs that melt in your mouth and hanger steak cooked to perfection. Jeremy knows his stuff and matched some cracking wines to the food. Loved it!
