Review The Garden - Leederville

L C
The Garden is always a nice place to come for a relaxing lunch or even just a few drinks. With indoor and outdoor seating options for any season of the year. They have big screen tv’s to broadcast major sporting as well as just general music playing on the other occasions. The food was good and so were the drinks We opted for the restaurant indoor section, however it was still great as it’s surrounded in glass so you still get to see all the outdoor garden area.

we ordered the mac & cheese bites and funghi pizza from the beer garden. the bites were perfection however the pizza could’ve used a creamy or cheesy sauce. the outdoors seating is gorgeous specially with the gum trees and plants, will definitely be coming back!

I love coming here for the ambient and because is outdoors etc. But I will never ask for the steak sandwich again, How isn't the chef embarrased to serve this? A steak sandwich on a burger bun and the steak as thin as if they just cooked a layer of pate on the grill. Stick to the Pizzas they are great. Note: the rating is just for the steak sandwich the rest of the place is amazing.

Ate inside the restaurant. Not a bad experience. Food was satisfactory, server was very good Menu is quite limited which I found surprising. Would have been good to have had a few more options. Table kept rolling around the floor, music inside restaurant was a bit loud so I guess if opting for a dinner with a lot of people, it wouldn't be conducive to smooth conversation. Overall not bad but not good enough to seem like a "treat."

I’m not sure what happened to this place! It used to have the best food and service! I had lunch with my girlfriends and although we understand the long wait due to big crowd, the food was cold and the burger buns were soggy. We waited at the front but none of the staff seemed interested . So I had to wave at one of the staff members who was lovely by the way to show our table as we had prebooked. The vibe has definitely changed and although it’s a beautiful outdoor seating area, I am afraid that it is not worth the wait for food or service :(

‘Bottomless’ probably isn’t an accurate description of the brunch. The wait staff were very slow with serving drinks and told us multiple times that it is because people “get too drunk and vomit on the floor” at their brunches... Arrived at 10:30am, breakky food didn’t come out until 12:10pm for our table and our water jug was left empty on the table for the duration of our 2 hour sitting. Perhaps if the venue is so worried about people getting too drunk then they shouldn’t have them waiting so long to eat brunch and let them drink on empty stomachs for 1.5 hours first. Also, when our food did come out there was shell in my poached eggs, another guest was given a hard boiled egg instead of poached, and the scrambled eggs looked like that hard curdled burnt stuff off the bottom of the pan. Our whole table also complained that the food came out cold.

Decent prices, quick service and a really good atmosphere. Great for a first date or chilled catch up with friends. Indoor restaurant or outdoor seating both just as good

Attended a bottomless brunch and ordered the slow roasted pork as my main. Probably the driest pork I've ever had in my life (cold), served on a freezing cardboard tasting crumpet with cold and in no way fresh béchamel sauce. Truly a disappointing experience for $65, and a few on our table who ordered the other main items felt the same. The pastries on the table were decent, and drinks were okay- but nothing special.

Like going here with larger groups – great outside area (and rooftop) with ample comfortable seating and a nice view. Has a good selection of drinks and decent food but on the more expensive side.

Very bad service. Went Australia Day and it was very quiet which would expect better service because they aren’t busy. Ordered a jug of pimms and it was not full and took so long. Went back and ordered vodka cranberry and after the man put the vodka and ice in he was holding the jug chatting to Anouther staff having a laugh while we stood there waiting to take our drinks. No one else was waiting so surely he could have poured our drinks and started his conversation after he finished our drinks! Very unhappy with the service but the pizza was very good!

Food was expensive and below average, i got the fish and chips, fish was really really greasy and presentation was way off for the $29 i spent, i was expecting something a little more than chunks of battered fish served in a colander (yeah). they also charged me $10 for a middy which is ridiculous considering most other places will only charge you around $5 - $7ish for the same. Service was lackluster and food and drink was extremely over priced. Won't be going back.

Horrible service, me and my group of friends had to walk out due to the length of time we had to wait to be served at the bar.
Sarah Hewitt
I loved the location but as a designated driver I found it outrageous that they charged me $6 for soda water (which is literally tap water with bubbles). So much for encouraging responsible drinking - I might as well have had a glass of wine.

Visited the restaurant on a busy Saturday, whilst the main bar was packed due to St Patrick’s day celebrations. We had a booking and had a drink before entering the restaurant for our meal, ordered a meal which arrived in good time and quickly realised I needed another beer for my meal. Was told by the staff at the restaurant that they were too busy to serve me a drink and I would have to go and line up at the bar, which was packed with merry st pat’s day revellers and was taking about 20mins to get served, not a viable option when my meal was already on the table. Made for a shit experience, why have a bar service area in the restaurant if you won’t serve restaurant guests?
ITSFOODNET
Great bar. Went there with three friends and we easily found a spot to sit and have a fun time. Especially since they have blankets that you can use if it's a cool night (you can't keep it FYI).

Went out with workmates one late night. We were just looking for somewhere that we can drink and have a snack. We ordered some cocktails and they looked great. Loved the presentation. Everything was okay and we had a good night
And Thats All She Wrote
The staff here are extremely friendly & attentive but unfortunately the food (a pizza and chicken burger) was only average - this venue has great potential to be a hot spot in leedy but just let down by the food

The food at The Garden isn’t bad but never wows you. The entrance and appearance of the restaurant part always hold more promise than what I get. I still return, it’s really good for big dinners with lots of friends. Very noisy.

The garden is famous for its summer Sunday sessions and its bustling Friday nights! It’s the perfect starter on a big weekend out but offers fast, simple and (admittedly) delicious pizzas and salads. They have an extensive beer and cider list and array of cocktails and mixers which are pleasant enough for any spirit-lover.
Frankie
Very nice location for a beer and food especially upstairs. Had a great day on Monday with a few beers and the pizzas are very good aranchini too!!
Kristen110
I like this place on a nice day for a few relaxed drinks! The bar menu is well priced and you can't beat a cider and pizza in the sun with friends!
J-in-Perth
Staff are friendly and the food is lovely. I had the mushroom risotto - very mushroomy :)
There is a nice vibe to the place for a casual lunch
@Foodieguide_lily
A great local pub with a lovely garden - the service is good and the drinks are reasonably priced for the area. I've heard the food was bad here but I didn't find this - the snacks are good value (you get a whole colander full of fresh, hot chips with two sauces!), and the steak sandwich is good too. Great on a lazy afternoon although it does get stupidly loud so I wouldn't stay late as you can barely scream into a friend's face and still be heard - but maybe I'm just getting old ;)

Really bad service. After 45 minutes of waiting for our food, the waitress finally noticed we had not received it yet. Apparently the docket had not been sent through from the bar to the kitchen. Understand if the restaurant was busy but there were a total of 4 other people there. Not acceptable that it takes the wait staff that long to realise something has gone wrong with your order when you represent 33% of their patrons! Due to the wait we also had to walk back to the car to put more money in the meter. A free beer offered as apology. Not enough in my opinion.

Hadn't been in a while so decided on a dinner with my partner on Friday evening. First thing I noticed was how tightly they squeeze people in, your literally on top of strangers. They also have the main entrance opening onto the back of someone's chair it's that tight
My partner ordered steak and I the market fish which at just under $40 is super expensive so I had high hopes. No where on the menu did it mention onion however my dish came out with no less than a half an onion cut through it. Ruined the dish and to be honest my experience of the restaurant. I felt too awkward with my partner to ask for it to be replaced. Absolutely disgusting. This needs to be detailed on the menu when it's more than a garnish, in plain English.
My partner mentioned his steak was cold and average

Won't be back
Overpriced rubbish
Casey
Visited for lunch and had the pizza with some hot chips. It was nice and satisfying, but a little pricey for chips $10. Nice coffee and blankets offered on a cold day is an extra touch

I would come here for a drink rather than food as the food is waaay too overpriced. However they have a good selection of beers, ciders, and cocktail jugs. Awesome place to come with a big group of friends - plenty of tables and seating. Weekend nights get very very busy. I prefer this venue throughout the week and during the day.

Came here on the Monday public holiday. Understandably busy but waiting over an hour for food is ridiculous!! After 45 mins we asked a waiter how long it will be and he never came back to tell us. After an hour we went up again to ask how long and they said sorry it's not too far away. 10mins later we finally receive our food. Pizza was hot and steak sandwhich was cold, barely toasted and the cheese wasn't melted. The chorizo cost us $14 and it was just cooked but not slightly crispy at all. Was so disappointed when we paid $60 for 2 meals and an entree for which it wasn't worth the 1 hour wait.
Ay
The venue itself is fantastic. We ate here over the weekend and even with the rainy weather it was still beautiful. The food was really average. The haloumi in the haloumi salad tasted and smelt off and steak sandwich was cold. The waitress was lovely. Perhaps next time we will just go for a drink in the summer.
Steffi Tanujaya
Very enjoyable Sunday brunch! 😍 we shared a brunch menu which came with a complimentary glass of prosecco! 🥂 food was okay (a bit too salty tbh), service was prompt, & the venue itself is like a mini version of Bali. Very nice bar & outdoor seating is available too. Will make a great venue on a summer night!

Been here many a time for casual drinks but yesterday was the first time I had experienced the restaurant.....and what a failure it was. 5 of us had a business meeting there and I doubt any will return. Right from the very start the waitress was inattentive & despondent at best. After waiting 15 minutes to order water I finally walked up and ordered some. 10 minutes later still no water...I have to go and ask for it and it eventually arrived 10 minutes after that! That was just the start of the bad service. We had to constantly call her over when we needed anything and the empty plates stayed on the table for ages. Out of the food the Caesar Salad had hard bacon, limp lettuce and was tasteless. The burger had a burnt bun and was dry. 2 of us had the Pork Belly Salad which they enjoyed however, that was the one saving grace. The coffee we all ordered was disgusting, no crema, just flat poorly made coffee. Like it had come from an automatic vending machine. To top it off a rancid smell kept blowing over us, that horrible smell you get from a dirty bar. I can only assume it was coming from the outside bar? It is a shame as the setting is great but the service was even below the standards we had to endure during the boom and I had thought was over. Someone in management needs to seriously look at the food and the service and lift the game!
El
The venue is very very nice and great for a big group on a warm day.
But the food is nothing special. The arancini were quite good but the calamari serve was tiny! Didn't try any of the pizzas - they might be better. Burgers looked average.
Also they don't serve individual spirits yet you can get a jug of a cocktail containing spirits - that striked me as rather odd.
Lynda
Upon arrival found out that they had given our table away, even though we were early. Put in the pub section with loud music and no atmosphere. Asked for add on of red onion to a sandwich and was told they couldnt. Thankfully the waitress was lovely and tried her best. Overall the food was good and our waitress was great.

I have dined here for lunch a couple of times. The place is massive with a very casual atmosphere. Lots of seating available outside as well as inside. Food is decent here – not the greatest but not too shabby. Had the pork belly salad special once and it was delicious. The salad had a lot of beansprouts and chilli which was fresh and cut through the fattiness of the pork belly. My only fault with this dish was that the crackling was maybe a bit too hard and so it was a bit difficult biting into it and hurt my teeth. I ate here again with workmates about 3 weeks ago and was not overly hungry so I ordered the salt and pepper squid. The squid was cooked well and was still soft and not chewy. I thought that the dish lacked a little bit of seasoning. On that particular day, one of my colleagues had to wait at least an hour or so for his chicken sandwich which was ridiculous. Everyone else had finished their meal and we needed to leave soon because we only have an hour lunch break. There was no apologies from the staff which is unacceptable.

Had lunch today. Had food to share between three: arancini balls; pumpkin pizza and fries. Was plenty between the three of us. Nice atmosphere and good value for a pub lunch.

Sunday pub feed. The chorizo was crisp, spicy goodness and with the lemon on top makes it even better also you can dip your chips in the left over fatty lemony "sauce". The chip serving is huge and more than enough for two people. The smoked cheese pizza was good, the potato was a little under cooked, nice rosemary and maple notes.

I really enjoy this place, chilled, relaxed and a great place to meet a few mates, have some good bites to eat and knock back a few pints! Will be back again soon!

Had lunch here on Saturday afternoon, and the staff were great, really attentive and followed up with drinks, bottles of water and orders. Food however was not that great. The menu is ok, not a huge list of options. I ordered the Chicken Salad, which came with a whole chicken drumstick and wing, despite stating it was going to be "shredded chicken"..2 very different things. The roasted style chicken was really greasy and un-flavoured, I found most of it not edible so left it behind. Other people had fish n chips which were pretty standard for pub meals (still the best chips in Perth!) but no sides just 2 smallish sized pieces of fish. The steak sandwich was ok, again not a favourite. Drinks are always good here but a little on the higher end of Perth prices.

Friendly bar/wait staff and pleasant ambience

Great spot to hang out on a semi-warm Friday evening. The food is typical pub grub - the fries were crispy, chorizo pizza tasty and cheese platter generous.

However, I found it annoying that I was not able to order Long Island iced teas and had to choose from aperol fizz, pimms, mojito or spiced rum served in 1.5 litre jugs and with 3 measures of spirits @$35 per jug, it's totally diluted and tastes like cordial!

I'm not a breakfast lover, but I love this place for breakfast. The menu is comprehensive without being pretentious. I've been here a few times for breakfast and it is consistently good. I love the Veg Garden, the Spanish potato is a great alternative the ordinary hash brown and you get a good amount of wilted spinach and mushrooms which is what I love most in a veggie breakfast. The dirty chai is a good accompaniment for those that like their coffee with a twist.
Spinaché
I really enjoyed it, we went for breakfast and at 10:30ish were the only ones there! Hot food was all brilliant would recommend the garden big breakfast 10/10 best bacon I've had on a big breakfast where I've eaten out probably ever. My mum had a granola and yogurt thing which she didn't particularly enjoy but we would all defiantly go again and bring friends!! Decor was also really great quirky without being impractical and they had bag hooks so no more bags sitting under chairs on the floor :)
SinCity
Even though this bar/restaurant has a great set out and some foods on the menu are tasty, it disappoints me every time. The cocktail jugs used to be a great option to share, however the alcohol has now been very clearly cut down. Leaving you having to drink it by yourself - $35 more broke, feeling like you've only had one drink and busting to go to the bathroom! The chips and macaroni & cheese are great snacks but there is no value or customer service at this place.

Terrible service - waited an hour and a half for fries and calamari. No apologies, just rude smug faces. This is not the first time I have waited excessively long for average food.

A mark of a good place is shown in the quality of its food and generosity of its staff, regrettably The Garden doesn't have either of those qualities. The pizza and rizzoto that we had were tasteless and my chocolate cake was stone hard and burned. Although I sent it back, discretely and politely telling them it's impossible to eat, the waitress took it back and did not say anything. We came to the counter to pay and realized that we were charged for the chocolate cake.
Disappointed and defenetly not coming back.
Well, not as great as it once. Food is well presented and makes for a tasty treat; price is a mid range ($24 for a steak sandwich) for what you . It's busy because it is next to the pub so I think that has an impact on the overall quality - they can get away with it being m'eh.

St Patrick's day march with Ms 18 in the Perth Metro Pipe Band playing tenor drum so we did the drop off and then had breakfast waiting for them to march on by. The place is huge and we had an outside table, on a beautiful morning, to watch the world go by. Coffee first that wasn't as great as we hoped, followed by some refreshing juice before some great eggs (my way) with bacon. I had my eggs poached and he had his scrambled. I had a delicious side of Spanish beans. I'd go back just for the beans. The food was tasty, huge serve size and fabulously presented. It might just be eggs and bacon but they certainly make it feel like more. Another round of coffee that was much better really hit the spot just as the march commenced. Great service and very prices made this a really reasonable breaky. A lovely way to spend Sunday morning.
THE ILLUSIVE FEMME
Love The Garden! Perfect for an afternoon in the sun with friends. On our last visit we tried the Salt & Pepper Squid, it was melt in your mouth and very tasty. Also had the Arincini Balls - two words - so good. Gooey, cheesy and soft we were in heaven. Fries and aioli were tasty too. Love the space, the "upstairs" area is very cool. Will be back for sure.
The Life Of A Designer
We went here for a quick dinner and a small Sunday sesh! It was pretty quiet night and service was okay! We ordered a jug of pimms cup and it was delightful and refreshing! We ordered chicken breast with peas, steak, pizza and a chicken curry and all of them were good and generous in portion!

It's not our first visit to the garden and surely it won't be our last either! The ambiance, the decor is just perfect for a causal night out!

The vibe and decorating of this place is great, it has a great feel to it. The food was fresh and delicious, full of favour, which pleasantly surprised me. Most places that have that 'pub beer garden' type feel tend to be a let down for food in my experiences but this place definitely doesn't. Will be back again! #goodfoodofperth

Never have had a bad experience here! The winning aspect these guys provide is a gorgeous open space to relax in a wonderful Perth summer. Nowhere else in Leederville will you have access to as broad open space and the option to sit upstairs and soak up the view.

Quite high drink prices which is unfortunately quite common for this area. Nice bar snacks to go along with drinks but plenty of great restaurants close by if you're looking for something a bit more finesse.

Great to stop in with friends and have a drink.

Thought we'd try out this little hideaway (for brekky) after everything on Oxford St was packed. Food and drinks were really good but the service was terrible. Almost had to go to the kitchen and order ourselves... and then chase it up twice. We might be back but not if we're in a hurry to get to something afterwards.

Went to a romantic dinner with my partner and chose the garden because of its beautiful interior and cosy atmosphere. However I was thrown against a wall with the amount of terrible service I received. We were sat down at a lovely table however the waitress was uninterested and didn't bother to offer replacing our cutlery because there was none on the table. After asking to start with some water, she said okay, however I never received it until later through the night where I got up and went to the bar to retrieve it myself.

Turkish bread and chorizo for our entree which took 45 minutes to come to our table however the meal was absolutely fantastic. It's just a shame our entree was met with such disdain because of the wait.

We ordered our Mains, which was the steak and the spicy chicken curry, my partner asked if the waitress could make the curry any less spicy, or if It was too hot to handle and the waitress said there's hardly any spice at all, so my partner asked for not a lot of spicy in her curry and proceeded with the order.

We sat at our table for an hour and a half before our meals came. The waitress threw our plates down and didn't offer to refill our drinks that were empty. On such a hot night, you'd think they would try and sell drinks to people. After waiting and scouting for a waitress/Tor to come around which they never did ( it seemed they were avoiding eye contact with all customers) we sat and chatted and enjoyed watching all the little cockroaches crawl across the floor. We even betted on how many would crawl across the floor before a waitress noticed.

After finally having enough and not wanting to waste any more of my time, I left and that was the second time I saw another staff member. Only for them to get our bill wrong.

I advise against going here. We will surely not be back, and will let everyone else know not to go here again. It's not worth the time and money for such a pretty little place with poor poor service
Rob McLaughlin
Pretty good lunch, orders came in a timely manner and were piping hot. Only small criticism was the high chair I was using was broken, dangerous and had screws exposed and on a 38 degree day the ceiling fans weren't cutting it. Otherwise enjoyable experience, wait staff were efficient and quiet.
LittleGirlBigFood
The food here is good! The presentation is winning! I love the blue plates. Chorizo here is so delicious. Juicy and yum. Def try it even if you think chorizo is the same everywhere!
Renato
Great venue fit-out with plenty of shady and sunny areas to sit and enjoy. The food is expensive but generally good, although the roast spanish chicken was under-seasoned and bland - nothing remotely spanish about it. Bar staff never smiled the whole day - there's something seriously wrong with either the management or the attitude when staff don't seem to enjoy their jobs in such a nice environment!
Drum_tum_tum
Ate lunch here at the inside part restaurant and we could not hear ourselves across the table! So loud! Great to see it busy but just so noisy! Food was decent.
LifestyleByLily
Had a delicious meal here! I loved the attention to detail in the dishes as well as the layout and open plan of both the indoor and outdoor areas!

Thanks for lovely evening with good food, wine and a top waiter! We will be back. Keep up the good work everyone, cheers!!
(Salt & pepper squid yum)

Have had many a relaxed evening at The Garden. It's a great spot to visit for a cool glass of wine after a long day in the office. I generally avoid Friday's as it gets BUSY. Mid week guarantees a table and quick service. The food is always tasty and decent size portions. Staff are friendly and are happy to recommend a wine based on what you like.
FoodBean
Have not eaten here but dropped in for a drink after lunch today. I was impressed with the beer list. I love dark beers and they had a good selection on offer on tap, which is unusual in Perth. Lots of other good beers too. Apparently they get new guest craft beers every week. My kind of pub. Last time we went here they had comfortable seating but they seem to have got rid of it in favour of fitting more people in. Not a big deal but we liked the old seating. We'll go back and try the food next time.
Louise Bell
Great location, but the food is bland and lifeless. Ordered calamari, croquettes and mac & cheese. They some how all tasted the same. I have never tasted food that was so uniformly dull - it's actually quite an accomplishment. Perhaps The Garden can market their food towards those having trouble stomaching dry toast. Even the Aioli was flavourless! We ate the calamari and croquettes because we were hungry but the mac & cheese remained untouched after the first bite (ok, I had a second bite as I second guessed myself. I should have stopped at the first). I mentioned that we were disappointed with the dish but the server didn't seem to care and promptly handed over our bill. There are much better places to dine in Leederville.

Great atmosphere on a Sunday night. Some of the wait staff weren't particularly friendly and I had to go and ask for a spoon for my soup. Other than that...no complaints! Ham hock and split pea soup with Turkish bread was hearty and generous, served in its own cooking pot. For $12.50 it is very reasonably priced too. A great spot for a drink and eats with friends :)

2 great experiences at this place! A beautiful sunny outdoor lunch with incredible food. And a nighttime experience with a great bar, good music although super busy
Jemma Cauchi
Food crap. Calamari tasted like it was birds eye frozen I only ate a few pieces. Steak sandwich tasteless and aloli had no kick. Service hit and miss
Patrick Florider
Probably the only bar in perth that doesnt serve spirits. Went there once and ordered gf chips. Went there a second time and the chips were apparently glutenous.........did they always have gluten in it? Argued with the waitress for a while about it.
Claire Schofield
Choose The Garden from the recommendations from Urban Spoon -and also because it stated that they had Gluten Free food - unfortunately a dish of olives doesn't cut it...!!!! Went round the corner to Grilled and got hot food and better service...!!!!!

Friday night drinks and dinner. A group of 9 of us went to the garden for dinner and drinks on a Friday night a couple of weeks ago. Was very busy but luckily we all managed a table out the back area. Good for drinks (beer, wine and cider served only), prices reasonable ($8 for a sav blanc, which is standard these days). Food not so good. Very expensive for mains (all around $30) and no one at our table was really that thrilled. A couple of us ordered the Grilled Tagine Chicken and Cous Cous ($32) and it was below average. Too much cous cous and no flavour on the chicken. A friend ordered the Pork Chop ($35) and said she really enjoyed that. Nice upstairs outdoor area where people can eat, drink and smoke. Although we had a good night, I wouldn’t go back there for the food, and probably would go elsewhere for drinks too.

Once upon a time I spent a lot of time on Saturdays at the Leederville Hotel – prior to and after watching the mighty West Perth toy with the opposition at Leederville Oval. When Subiaco and the pseudo-Eagles came to infest the hallowed ground, the old pub lost its attraction. But we dropped by one afternoon this week after lunching nearby and I was very taken by the beer garden – very well renovated, in a rustic outdoorsy style – bricks and metal – some old gums still casting shade over lawn areas, and a good sized central bar. Closer to Newcastle Street is an enclosed canteen area with long communal tables where customers can sit in comfort and enjoy the food and drink on offer. We were only there for a look and drink, but cast our eye over the menu nonetheless. It contains all that you would expect of good pub style dishes – spiced chicken wings, salt and pepper calamari, croquettes and fries to start; with pizzas, steak sandwiches, salads, fish and chips, tagines and short ribs for those looking for more substantial meals. The drinks list indicates some careful thought and planning with a dozen or so of red and white wine by the glass, as well as half a dozen sparkling and three rosé – and some very good drops among them. Mandoon Estate Surveyors White and Ad Hoc Wallflower Riesling caught my eye, but we focussed on the reds and from among the many good ones on offer chose a glass of 2102 Zonte Sangiovese Barbera blend and one of 2010 Willoughby Park Cabernet Merlot. We sat back and sipped these in the sun and just relaxed. It was that kind of day. The wines were great – the Zonte from McLaren Vale dark red, almost purple in colour, with plums, cherries and pepper on the nose, and a lingering palate of blackberries and savoury tannins. Willoughby Park set up in the old premises of West Cape Howe just outside Denmark turns out good quality wines and the Cabernet Merlot is no exception. It is quite a soft, easy drinking wi

I like this place. I do like this place, food was good and service was excellent. A plus!

Atmosphere and ambiance packed. Beef rib fell off the bone but came with no chips or salad.
Battered red emperor was average.
They don't serve spirits...

Sunday Session. Had a Sunday get to gether with some friends and found the bar staff wonderful. Very freindly and hepful indeed. The food well maybe a little overpriced but great quality. The chips with aioloi are worth going back for.

Nice venue, nice staff, rubbish food and quite expensive drinks!

Lovely atmosphere !. Came here for dinner with a friend. Ordered the Chicken and cous cous. Chicken was tender, soft and amazingly cooked, too bad the couscous was poorly done, extremely dry. Service was quick and staff are very attentive. Moderate prices but decent serving sizes. What I loved the most was the chilled, mellow atmosphere. Will return eventually.

Rude bar staff. Sorry - that needs to change.

Ok for a drink after work, but don't go for the food. Two friends and I went to lunch at the Garden today. Service staff at the bar in the outside area were polite, knowledgeable, helpful and efficient in taking orders and accommodating our change of seating. We had main meals and a chorizo entrée, which were all served simultaneously. While the outdoor setting is inviting, the food experience and waitstaff from the indoor area would not draw me back ever again. The salad dishes (chicken Bang Bang, and Smoked Salmon) were very small serves even though they weren't side salads, for anyone who was moderately hungry. Bang Bang Chicken was sent back as unpalatable, and the main course smoked salmon salad was tasty but consisted of a one-eighth slice of an iceberg lettuce, with perhaps 1/2 cup of smoked salmon and dressing on the side. My $36 Huon grilled salmon was chargrilled and cooked through (if that's the way you like it), but still quite nice, however the salad of pickled radicchio and watercress was too sweet. The 'blood orange', as described on the menu, was a nice but ordinary navel or Valencia orange, not a Blood Orange. No smiles from any of the staff in the restaurant. Probably great for drinks after work, but plenty of better dining experiences nearby.

This place is a disgrace!! Charging $4.50 for a soda water out of a tap!!!! Ridiculous AVOID!!

Great service, average chicken salad (could be just the flavouring) but beautiful beef/mushroom dish!

Refreshing. I hadn't been to the leederville precinct in a couple of years but on a recent trip couldn't believe what I had been missing! Our destination was originally the ever popular duende but the afternoon sunshine drew us to the garden at the leederville hotel. Here we were greeted by a friendly European waiter and taken to a table of our choice te menu was explained and our comfort level maximised. The food that followed was delicious - I had the pork chop and my friend a haloumi dish, both of which we inhaled and washed down with a New Zealand sauv which the bartender had recommended. Slick service, tasty bites and an inviting environment. I can't wait to get back!

Okay food and atmosphere - but make sure you request to receive your entree first!. Went here with a friend for a Friday lunch. We ordered two items from the "SOWING THE SEED" section at the start of the menu, which are priced from $7 to $15, and ordered two items from the "THE FULL BLOOM" section of the menu, which are priced from $22.50 to $36.50. Clearly these are the entree and main sections of the menu respectively.

After a reasonable wait, the mains came out first! Upon asking about our entrees, we were told we needed to ask for them to be served first separately when we ordered, which as we didn't do this, everything would be served at the same time. Even so, ten minutes later our entrees came out, after we had finished our main!

The waiter didn't care less. Overall the food and atmosphere was okay, but a bit of proactive thought and care by the staff would have prevented an average expeience.

Really liked it. Went for dinner at The Garden on a tuesday, to take advantage of their half price pizza special. Ordered the margherita and really enjoyed it; it was very tasty and good value thanks to the discount. Definitely keen to return soon.

Poor...very poor - stay away. Second time I've eaten here - first time I ordered a overpriced pizza which had chewing gum stuck on the bottom of the pizza base (I think it was originally on the plate it got served on which never got washed - told the manager nicely and got accused of putting it there myself. Pizza was 'bad' - $24 can get me a wood fired pizza in a nice italian restaurent. This week had the beef short rib and half of it was uncooked fat. $36 for tiny bit of meat and 6 mushrooms. Will go as far and say the most disappointing dinner I've had!

Not going back!!. Went here with roughly 15 of our work colleagues and the customer service was joke. A whole other level of disgusting. The head waitress spoke rudely to all of us on separate occasions. In saying this the rest of the staff were lovely as they were trying to accommodate us as best as they could trying to make up for the way we were being treated by the head waitress. Almost walked because we were all so angry but unfortunately some of our colleagues had already ordered and paid for their food as they showed a little earlier than the rest of us. That was a potential loss of 15 paying customers purely because of this one girl. To the lady with blonde hair behind the counter in the inside dining area on 12/9/14 - sort yourself out!

Average. The place was ordinary and overpriced. The salad with quinoa, date & cabbage was disappointing. We paid $20 basically for a bowl of shredded cabbage. There was probably 1 date chopped up in about 4 pieces and you had to look hard to find it. You could see some quinoa but certainly couldn't taste it.
The menu was limited, not enough vegetarian options.
Service was ok. They served us a glass of water on arrival, but one was filled and the other only partially filled.
The place is ok but I'm not sure that I like it. Certainly nothing to rave about and I wouldn't go back there in a hurry.

Over rated. Look nice place for a Sunday arvo, very $$$$ and nothing special, better to be had, was looking for something more from this place for the price I was paying..

Sunday afternoon snack. Came to the Garden for sunday arvo snack and beer. Was looking really forward to it as being in Leederville hip trendy place to be. We don't mind spending the money but want the value. Salt and pepper squid tasty but lacking quantity it was tiiinnyy. The steak sandwich was cold and soggy due to the caramelised onion being cold and also was the steak. What is going on? With all due respect we were asked as I'm tying this our feedback and we gave it. Our money was refunded. Thank you the garden.

Awesome Brekkie. The big garden brekkie was great, everything was delicious. The coffee was great. Wait staff were great and very friendly. Would definitely come back

Looks nice and menu seems appealing, waited ages for a table which was fine as it was Friday night but once we'd ordered we waited 45 mins to an hour for food and staff didn't seem interested. we ordered three lots of chips to eat before main meals as we were so hungry but received them with our mains
drinks were overpriced and one special cocktail jug $40 just tasted like lemonade
not impressed, would maybe go there for summer drinks but not again for dinner

Good place for a Sunday arvo hang out. He: Look no further for a place to have an arvo beer. The Garden is a great place to meet your friends and have a yarn. Menu is not creative but hey, the pizzas and starters sure goes well with the beer.

She: Ordered a few nibbles including the calamari and fries with aioli. Shared a pizza and fish & chips. Decent pub grub. Nothing to rave about but at the same time, nothing to complain about too!

Rate: 6.5/ 10

Disappointing Breakfast. I've been to the Garden three times for breakfast, and each time I am disappointed.

The staff seem genuinely uninterested in being there, and on the most recent occasion our orders were mixed up both when served food, and paying at the counter. We did not even receive an apology for the mix ups, as the person at the till seemed too busy joking around with staff behind the counter to pay attention to seving me.

The food is bland, and expensive considering the portion size and lack of imagination.

The place has oodles of potential, but simply doesn't compare to nearby venues which consistently serve delicious breakfasts with a smile (Sayers and Duende, for example)

So i ordered eggs and bacon..quite a standard menu option for most places...but the on one they do here is amazing! It was all very delicious and relatively cheap for the massive serving. I recommended XD

Nice setting. Poor food for price.

Lunch. The lunch was certainly enjoyable. Had the calamari great flavours, fresh & went down well. The turkish bread was ok accompanied with some interesting dips.

Is it value for money? I'd say probably noy & don't expect a sizeable serve espically if you're intending to share.

Brilliant! Very pleasantly surprised.... We came here for dinner on a rainy Saturday night (as a result of being rudely told by the waiter at Duende that unless we were in a bigger group than two people, they had nothing for us) and we were greeted with a smile from the waiter who directed us to sit anywhere we'd like. We were promptly given menus and after much deliberation over the menu, we decided to have share dishes rather than order mains. To drink, we ordered a bottle of Tom Foolery (Young Blood) Grenache from the Barossa which was simply outstanding, and fish croquettes, crumbed calamari and the pickled mushroom and Gorgonzola pizza. The croquettes and pizza were superb. The calamari was cooked to perfection but found it a little bland in flavour. Our waiter was nothing short of appropriately attentive and more than happy to provide suggestions for our meal and wine choices. We declined the offer of dessert but continued to sit there and enjoy our wine. We were extremely surprised at the gesture of our waiter who returned sometime later with a complimentary chocolate brownie dessert for us to share on the house. Not something that happens often I'm sure, well not to us, but it was a really nice gesture and one that only heightened our experience of The Garden. Hats off to the manager of this restaurant as you have completely nailed what service should be. I will absolutely be back and Ill recommend The Garden restaurant to anyone. Thanks for a great night!

My boyfriend and I went here for brunch on my birthday. the atmosphere was relaxed and the service (by Ashley Cole-lookalike) was absolutely fantastic! I ordered the eggs Atlantic and a watermelon strawberry juice. Boyfriend ordered the big breakfast and a coffee. The food was absolutely delicious! Boyfriend enjoyed the coffee so much he went for round two.
We will make this or regular brunch place!
Thank you for a wonderful birthday brunch!

Great pub - poor breakfast. Such a fabulous place for a drink - alas I tried breakfast there and was just so disappointed. My eggs benedict... the poached eggs were rock hard and off colour, the spinash was so salty, the ham was chewy and the hollandaise was watery and tasteless - it just couldn't have been worse. This place has a gorgeous setting, service was brilliant and I am so sorry to write such a negative review based on just one meal... but I do feel that at the very least I should discourage you from ordering the eggs benedict - or perhaps make very clear to the waiters that you would like softly poached eggs - a mistake I made that I take some responsibility for, of course.

Attentitive friendly staff and pork belly = amazing.

Service?!!. I went out on a weekday to the Garden and it was not very busy. The food did come on time and it was pretty tasty. However, I felt like the wait staff didn't want to be there and they looked very bored and unfriendly. Although I did enjoy my food, I don't think it was worth what I paid for the food. :/ Disappointing !

Insulting Food Portions. Nice place in a nice location, but that's where the 'glowing review' ends...

Drinks overpriced across the board, and the food was nothing short of insulting - ordered a pizza and received a 'meal' that wouldn't have filled up a small child(which is sort of fitting, because they have kindergarten coloured stools for customers to sit on)
They must like abstract art in the kitchen, because my 'pizza' looked pretty but had no substance. I could have slid it under my front door it was that scrawny...
Avoid this place at all costs!
Unless, of course, you enjoy paying for the owner's overheads rather than reasonably priced beverages and a meal that will actually fill you up!

The food was ridiculously overpriced. I paid $24 for a pizza with hardly any toppings and left me still hungry afterwards. Absolutely terrible, I expected much better for the price.

Great layout, fun and friendly staff, very clean and tidy, no long waiting times in between meals and drinks. Overall a great experience and would do it again!
