Review Monte Restaurant - Leichhardt

The food is really good here, pork belly is very tender and the crackling is nice and crunchy. Plate present well, not too overly decorate. Serving size is on the small scale but not bad for the price paid. Desserts are good too. Service is great, food came out quickly. Atmosphere is nice, not too noisy.

Absolutely amazing. The food was well priced and delicious. The staff were run off their feet but always greeted with a smile and a chat. It made you feel very welcome. The set menu is so worth it, I fully recommend this lovely establishment.

Loved the menu and staff were attentive. Got an ice mocha which was lovely and not too sweet. Also got the French brioche toast which was phenomenal. The caramelised banana added some wow factor and was great technique, the cream was delicious and perfectly infused, loved the compote and not too much syrup. Perfection ✨

Had a lunch date with my wife at Monté today. Making a reservation was simple and easy to do in a few seconds. The restaurant was open and had a nice homely feel, it was also quiet enough to have a conversation without yelling at each other. We opted for the main+entrée for $65. Our entrées were miso scallops and beef carpaccio, our mains were crispy pork and eye fillet steak. We both enjoyed the beef carpaccio, delicious. The miso scallop dish was on the sweet side and the scallops were a little overcooked. Scallops have a delicate flavour so we found that the miso sauce overpowered the sweetness of the scallops. The crispy pork dish was tasty, the meat was tender and juicy, the skin super crispy. I asked for my steak to be cooked medium rare, it was cooked perfectly. Very tender and delicious. Service was great as expected. Pleased with my decision to dine at Monté.

This is a wonderful little gem of a cafe. Family friendly. And the wait-staff were very helpful and nice. I went there at 11:15am-ish and made the right decision to order from the lunch menu (starts 11:30am). I orderer the truffle oil mushroom spaghetti and IT WAS ONE OF THE BEST TASTING DISH I'VE EVER TREATED! I will round up some friends (or not) and try their dinner menu. I'm very excited for it! Will update my review when that's done!🙂

Amazing service and delicious French food We came here for dinner and had the three-course meal. All the meals that we ordered were delectable! The meals are reasonably priced. The service is efficient, attentive, and friendly. All of our meals were on point. The scallops and steak were cooked to perfection, just the right amount of seasoning and everything is beautifully presented. The pate and the pork was tasty as well. The passionfruit souffle and the crèam brûlèe was phenomenal. The three courses is worth it the price. The only thing missing is matched wines for the meals, but they do have a variety of wines in their drinks menu. The decor is beautiful as well. We can't wait to come back and try the other dishes.

Good find of a French among the Italians. I have been here twice and each time have bouillabaisse. The entree linguine is good. The first time I tried the choco fondant - recommend. The 2nd time, passionfruit souffle - ok. The entree n main serving are generous to me.

We had a really lovely night at Monte! Highlights were the cheese soufflé, steak, and scallops, as well as the wo deful service. It was our first time eating in the area and we'll definitely be back again. Great value for the quality of food you get and nice setting.

This is easily the best cafe/restraunt on Norton street. A little out of the main strip, down towards the city west link and Roselle, this humble yet elegant eatery combines a mixture of cuisines and culinary expertise together to create a perfect experience. Whether your eating breakfast lunch or dinner, or just in for a coffee I can't recommend it enough. But wait, it gets better, amazing food and decor are topped off with some of the friendliest people working in hospitality in the inner west. The wait staff are quick to greet with smiles and open for a convo if you are and if your lucky and its not too busy, you might get a chance to meet the head chef and mastermind behind the whole operation. All in all this is a 10/10 would recommend for me. I'll be back there as often as I can!!

Definitely worth a visit. The level of hospitality and the cuisines being served were beyond astonishment. The restaurant is also located in the quiet neighborhood of Leichardt that you can enjoy your meal in peace, away from the crowds of the city, but yet easily accessible with both vehicles and public transport. Highly recommended for all occasions, from a quick lunch during the weekdays to family outings/romantic dinner/celebrating - reservation is highly recommended on weekends and public holidays. Would personally recommend this place as one of the best and most authentic french restaurant to be found in Sydney.

Having been here many times, I can attest to Monte's five-star rating. Each dish is always presented immaculately and tastes as good as it looks. I highly recommend spending your next night-out here as the team at Monte will not disappoint!

Absolutely loved this place! Was not expecting to enjoy the food as much as we did. Service was wonderful and the food was flawless. One of the best meals I've had in a long time and so very reasonably priced. The food was what I would expect at a fine dining restaurant. I ordered the Ceviche for entree which was devine, pork belly for main which was delicious and souffle for dessert which was
amazing. Will definitely come back to try the other dishes on the menu and would highly recommend to everyone.

Great night out at Monte. Amazing food coupled with friendly service made for a great experience. Particularly impressed with the spatchcock, (plump and juicy and not gamey at all), and lamb rump. Dishes were tasty and flavourful and well priced. Atmosphere was relaxing and obviously lots of families love this place from what we could see. Well worth a try if you are in Leichhardt

Monte is located on the less busy end of Norton Street and we had no problems finding a parking spot just before the lunch rush. The restaurant was easily accessible and there were multiple prams present. We were especially impressed with the quality and flavour of the dishes we ordered.

Love this restaurant. The chef is superb and the flavours he produces are exquisite. His desserts are to die for especially the fruit souffle. I enjoy my rosted vegetables and they are always cooked to perfection, while others enjoy the scallops and main meat dishes. The shoestring fries are also surprising well worth tasting. This is the place to visit in Leichhardt for a special occasion as the food is devine. Love the cosy atmosphere as well. If you aren't able to afford the meal just visit for coffee and dessert as a special treat.

We had a very nice meal here. Helpful staff, comfortable chairs, not too loud with other guests, good choice of dishes and I appreciate a good restaurant which has a BYO option.

This hidden gem in Leichhardt was surprisingly good. A cute little cafe turns into a French bistro for dinner. The service was good. We had scollops and linguine for entree. I would highly recommend the linguine! For main we had the duck and the fish. All was good. Usually I always get dessert but there wasn’t really anything that appealed to me on the menu which was a bit of a let down but the quality of the savory dishes was great. Will be back to try their brunch menu!

I love everything about this place. Great food, great service, and great atmosphere. Quinoa and veg is my favourite salad, especially the dinner version.

A lively French inspired restaurant opposite the park on the quieter end of Norton Street. It feels classy & cosy with mix-matched French furniture & paintings. The staff are all so lovely and everything done with a smile. During the day it has a more casual feel but the food remains good. All day breakfast has ao many delicious options & the usual bacon & egg burger is made better with their special homemade sauce. Iced coffee was famtastic - strong and filled with ice cream topped with cream, chocolate rimmed glass and sprinkles. Makes me feel like a kid again! The chocolate brownie & pastries are nice but nothing special. Dinner is erring more ln the fine dining side with French dishes accented with Asian flavours. The ceviche is fresh, zesty & delicious with many contrasting textures. The french onion souffle is perfect - flavoursome, rich yet light. Both duck dishes were phenomenally good & enjoyable as was the dessert souffle - again textbook perfect. A small and concise wine list which is well priced and a $10 corkage for byo is a great deal. The chef comes out to chat to customers and overall an absolutely delightful place to dine and enjoy.
Sir And Mlady Dine Out
Monte Cafe Restaurant would have to serve the most prettiest and tastiest of dishes. The presentations are total works of art and the food really is delicious! The cuisine is modern Australian with a French flair. They have been open for 5 months and they have weekday specials. . Sir started his meal with white wine and Mlady had a Rose.

Last night I dined at Monte restaurant, the wait staff were friendly and attentive. We sat down at one of the outdoor table overlooking Leichhardt's Pioneers Memorial Park. They took our order quickly we ordered Goats curd tortellini and French onion soufflé for entree and for main my partner had the 200g Black Angus Sirloin, sauté wild mushrooms, asparagus, jus and the Tortellini sounded so good I ordered it for main too. They brought out a slice of warm sourdough complementary. The quality of the food was amazing. So we decided to try dessert even though we were extremely fully. We ordered the Vanilla Cream Brûlée with apple & Dark Chocolate Marquise with cherry sorbet and hazelnut brittle, the dessert did not disappoint. The chef also came out to speak with us which made us feel quite special and appreciated. I will definitely come back again. We also felt that the food was underpriced based on the quality and size of the dishes. So you really do get a great meal for an amazing price!
Excuse Me Waiter
Amongst all the Italian restaurants in Leichhardt, the new kid on the block Monte Restaurant is doing something a bit different with a refreshing Modern Australian menu in a space that has a dash of French flair to it. The influences on the decor and menu aren’t surprising since the owner and head chef Louis Hong has spent time honing his craft at Bistro Moncur and The Cook’s Garden, before opening up his own restaurant.

Great food and excellent service, all at a very reasonable price, make this place a winner. The lamb neck pie is amazing!!! The menu isn't overly complicated, just extremely flavorful. We'll be back for sure!

Monté on Leichhardt's Norton st is a newly opened restaurant that serves up an exciting array of Modern Australian cuisine. From start to finish, my dining experience at monté was nothing short of amazing thanks to the wonderful food, warm and friendly service, and the serene atmosphere of the beautiful restaurant. We began with two really great starters - the ginger and sweets sake oysters & sweet corn puree and scallops. Both were absolutely fantastic with such delicate flavours. Our mains were the twice cooked bangalow pork belly & crispy skin king reef barramundi with king prawn stuffed zucchini flowers. The pork was sweet and melt in your mouth goodness while the barramundi was a tasty and exciting plate with lots of delicious components. Finally for dessert we had raspberry souffle with cream anglaise and vanilla bean ice cream to round things all off. We also had wine paired with our courses so check out the blog for a full write up!
Loves Eating Out
I first heard about Monte on my Facebook feed. It got my attention because it was local to where I work, relatively new and Modern Australian – hard to find Modern Australian restaurants these days that you don’t have to mortgage your home to eat at.

I checked out the menu and gallery pictures of the restaurant (online) and sent the link to a couple of friends suggesting it for our next catch up – we decided on lunch.
Wow, what a wonderful experience, from beginning to end.

We arrived at the restaurant and were greeted in a most friendly way by Kevin, our waiter. He was knowledgeable about the menu and if there was something additional that we wanted, or if our request varied from the actual menu, he would try his best to accommodate. He was a true advocate for everything that Monte had to offer and was not spinning the truth about the food or flexibility!

We started with Szechuan crispy calamari – what a treat. So delicate and the flavours of the squid with the pickled seaweed and daikon, finished with the lime aioli, were gorgeous and a wonderful start. I then had the Crispy Skin King Reef Barramundi, which was extremely fresh and perfectly cooked. The cauliflower puree was so silky and the charred brocollini gave a lovely clean and crunchy element to the dish. We all enjoyed the Torn Buffalo Mozzarella with the heirloom cherry tomatoes, black olive paste, basil, aged balsamic glaze along with our mains – again, the flavours were divine, such a great combination! I finished with the Vanilla Cream Brulee with caramelized green apple, butter crumble, green apple sorbet, apple wafer. My oh my, again, the flavours! All of us at the table decided we would ask for a tiny scoop of the green apple sorbet before our meal as a palate cleanser when we return – and we will!

This review has gone on long enough, however I can’t leave without at least mentioning a couple of other items on the menu that my fellow diners had. Twice Baked French Onion Soufflé Gratin – this looked and tasted exactly how it sounds – creamy, decadent and totally worth every mouthful. Twice Cooked Bangalow Pork Belly – cooked to perfection, melted in the mouth and the flavours of the pumpkin, farro, fennel and orange melded perfectly! Lastly I have to mention the Dark Chocolate Marquise and the Orange and Almond Cake – and not to mention the sorbets of blood orange and sour cherry.

I could not mention everything, however that is just a taste, and I strongly urge you to visit Monte yourself. Lunch was fantastic, and next time we will try dinner!

Thanks to Louis the chef, Kevin our waiter and the rest of the staff at Monte for an unforgettable dining experience!
