Review Il Cugino Pizzeria Ristorante - Leichhardt

Not sure if they cut it into triangles or squares or if stacking it on top of each other is a delivery technique to keep it warm…but it didn’t taste bad…other than the rectangular slices with no sauce or cheese on them.

Maybe the last truly Italian family food establishment left in Norton Street! If you like a heavy bodied pizza with great flavour, crunchy and chewy pizza base this place delivers! Ask the owner to give you a secret chilli slice! At your risk😁 Their non pizza dishes are great also. And for those that like a heavy coffee (a real coffee in my opinion) you must get a short black no sugar. I'm feeling like pizza writing this!

great place for pizza. friendly service . environment is ok as well just hope the pizza sauce and cheese could be less salty that would make this restaurant perfect

Super friendly staff, very well priced & crispy bases which retain a nice chew. Nothing to complain about & a really delicious meal.

Delicious traditional Italian pizza. I've been eating from here for over 20years. The pizza is fantastic.

Love this place. Pop is of course the boss but Charlie makes the best pizzas. A family run pizzeria and you feel that. Always welcoming and friendly. It is cash only and a great laid back place to take the family and friends. Top place.

Eat somewhere else if you don’t wanna a burnt pizza! I reached out to them, instead of apology they ignored what an ignorant service!

An authentic family owned Italian no frills restaurant. Friendly and prompt service. Our food was served within 10 minutes of being ordered on a Saturday night.

Garlic bread as entrees and 2 mains came to a total of $59, decent value but perhaps slightly on the higher end. Would have imagined it to be between $50-55.

Casual & relaxed atmosphere, great for families or a relaxed date night.

Can't fault the place, even though the menu's are a bit sticky, the pizza, the pizza and the especially the gnocchi; marone it's bloody good. This is a place that i can see myself coming to regularly and being welcomed tjme after time. The pizza is not too salty, not too doughy, not burnt but still has the right amount of crunch and flavoursome aroma. Most of all, great value for good food.

First time for a takeaway from Il Cugino. Charles was really helpful and honest when I called to order - not wanting us to over order (which is rare from a commercial business).
Our hungry boys loved the thin crust pizzas and gnocchi & pasta. We will be back soon - good quality and good value!

Awesome traditional Italian food with a family friendly atmosphere and reasonable prices!!! Best restaurant on the street by far run by a beautiful family for the past 30years. Give them a try, you won't regret it!!!

My husband and I have recently rediscovered our love for Il Cugino. We used to go here over 20 years ago pre marriage and kids and this last year have returned and become frequent visitors. We can't go past the pizzas they are excellent. Our favourites are mexicana, continental and the special. Our two girls love the cheese pizza and our boy shares our love for the spicy Mexicana. The pastas are also excellent with the kids loving the Napoletana and me the Arrabiata. The service is excellent, the ambience great, the staff welcoming and the food the best. We rate it 5/5. When we come home from being there our son always asks where's the Il Cugino pizza ? We can't come home without any !! Steve and Lisa

Based on review and rating we decided to give this well known pizza place a go. We ordered the staple items like the margarita pizza and lasagne, simple dishes you'd expect can't go wrong. So the margarita wasn't as expected. It was clearly missing the mozzarella rounds and basil, it was basically a cheesy pizza. We were similarly unimpressed with the lasagne. Not much of the bechamel to be found and minimal sauce on the pasta sheets. Will give this place a go again given they're just around the corner but first impressions was a let down.

The best place to eat or to get a takeaway. Being going there for over 20 years. The food is very good, the service is fantastic. You feel at home. The best place to be. I don't live locally, but going to Il Cugino is always a special outing!!

An institution of Leichhardt! Family run business with classic unchanged pizza and pasta recipes for almost 3 decades. Staff go that extra mile to learn your name and regular order - never dissapointing.

Friendly old family business - hasn't changed in years. This place has been open since the 80s (the guy working there said 27 years) and don’t think the menu has changed much since then. Full of locals and a few tourists who walked the 5 extra minutes down from the boring bit of Norton Street. Staff are very friendly and happy to customise food to however you like it. Pizzas are great and fresh - perfect bases and not stingy with the toppings - think stuff like Capriciosa and Supreme. Nice to have a place in Leichhardt that’s reminiscent of a time where places weren’t measured on how closely they resemble a doctor’s waiting room, but on friendliness and the quality of food!

It is what is says it is. Great little home style Italian cooking that isn't expensive. Nothigh end a culinary experience but honest simple fair and they make you feel like one of the family. Our local for Italian food and Friday night Pizza.

I love the Liver & Onions (cooked perfectly), and grilled Veal & Rocket with sea salt and lemon. All the pasta's are home made and servings are generous.

Recommended

Outstanding! Very authentic italian food, plentiful and absolutely delicious. The service was excellent and went above and beyond what was expected. Excellent value for money.

Traditional, yum and awesome pizza for take away. It's no fuss, just the way it should be. No fancy toppings here. Won't be getting take away from anywhere else. Staff are friendly and it has an old school homely feel. Not many places like this around. Good job!
Hello
Real Pizza.... Good service here, super fast pick up (under 15 minutes in 5 of the last orders). No delivery or Eftpos which is a bit of a pain but all good, especially cause I'm 3 doors away... supreme pizza is my favourite on the street, no stupid fancy toppings (not that I'm adverse to that), just good honest italian pizza. Feels real :)
