Review Gemelle Ristorante Italiano - Liverpool

Classy yet homely atmosphere... 5 stars easy as there is nothing to fault. Quality of food is superb and was as expected. Staff were both friendly and efficient. Would definitely recommend a visit for anyone wishing to dine on fine Italian food.

The true meaning of the hidden Gem of the west! Great food, excellent service, it was unanimous everyone in our group would definitely come back, some might think it's a little high on the price side, BUT you pay for what you get

The experience started at 5 stars but dwindled down to a 3 the longer we stayed. Service at the start was good but left much to be desired towards the end of our meal with plates unchanged and finished dishes not removed. Paper was used to line the tables, however the underlying linen was dirty. Food was good but not amazing. Dessert took awhile and we could not get attention from the wait staff. Calamari and muscles were their best dishes. Shared dishes came with cheap tongs which didn't function properly and kept flicking food everywhere. Reminder to self: "its Liverpool after all."

A real local hidden gem in the south western city of Liverpool. Food and service is excellent. The seafood risotto is the absolutely dinner for me. A bowl full of fresh seafood with perfectly cooked beads of risotto Highly recommend you give this place a try. Im sure you'll be pleasantly surprised with this Italian joint.

One of the nicest Italian restaurants my husband and have been to.. Tasty food and well presented. Staff were friendly but they need to be trained a little more for special occasions such as Valentine’s Day.. This year’s valentines menu had a variety of choices that included a vegetarian option as well 👍🏻 We went on Valentine’s Day, we did not receive our welcome platter on time, they forgot about us, even though the restaurant had around 5 waiters upstairs and it was not that busy at around 8:00pm, my husband asked for it and it came after our entrees being served.. As a main I ordered grilled fish fillet which tasted very nice, however I wish if the chef included some broccoli or asparagus as a side because I did not feel that my dish was complete.. My husband ordered a lamb shoulder and it tasted amazing, he really enjoyed it👍🏻 For dessert, it was a shared platter which we did not have options to choose from.. It did not taste really good, it felt like it has been purchased from a dessert shop.. Overall I personally enjoy and I feel more relaxed visiting this restaurant on normal days more so than on occasions or set menu nights ♥️

Really excellent food. The tagliolini with prawns was one of the best pasta dishes I’ve ever had. And the beef brisket is to die for. Lava cake dessert was delicious.

Came here my husband and his family on a Friday night to celebrate Mother’s Day. It was an absolutely wonderful experience. The waiters were professional, knew the menu back to front and had excellent customer service. We shared the aranchini entree, which was delicious. This was also the first time I had ever tried duck, and it was definitely the right choice. I would definitely recommend Gemelle as a high class Italian restaurant. Thank you for an amazing night!

Came here for a Birthday. The Food wasn’t bad... there was nothing really amazing for the price. However the service was exceptional and the venue was very lush. iPad menus were quite different to see too!

Gemelle is a local Italian gem and has long been my favourite Italian restaraunt to dine at.
Visited once again and not once have been disappointed! From exceptional service to top quality food.
It was such a beautiful experience! Amazing service and even better food.

We ordered the calamari for entree, gnocchi lobster, fettuccine chicken for mains and cannoli for dessert.

Every dish blew us away, it was spectacular! We were also surprised with a ‘happy anniversary’ message on our dessert. Such a special touch, by management.

We dined for our anniversary as it was a little pricey. We would definitely return on our next celebration.!

YUMMMMMMM

Beautiful food .... good atmosphere was good spacious restaurant of higher quality than expected in less than desirable area the service is very excellent I ordered the arcani balls. Ambience is excellent staff service is very good

Such a gem in an area like Liverpool. For an Italian pick, Gemelles will be a great choice if you’ve got some spare money lying around. The food was exceptional - lobster gnocchi with a red sauce melts away in your mouth. The flavours of the scallops worked very well together, especially with varying textures. Although, it was abit over cooked. Let’s not start with the tomahawk steak. A large 1.3kg (cooked down), plated with a bone and complimented with truffle potatoes was to die for. A must visit and a come around again dining experience!

Spacious restaurant of a higher quality than expected in a less than desirable area. The service was excellent all around except for the late delivery of a forgotten salad.

Entre of Garlic Prawns was superb and can be a main for some. The portion was generous with fresh decent sized prawns, and a generous serving of bread to scoop up the sauce.

Main of lamb shoulder was very generous on quantity in the form of a large and solid looking brick. Tastewise it unfortunately lacked flavour and was dry in parts. Some effort was required to polish off this dish after the excellent prawn entree.

I would visit again if in the same area. Ideally a 3.5/5 but not quite enough for a 4/5.

Very good food and service. We had chicken and a seafood hot pot and both were quite nice. Wine selection is pretty nice too. Proper Italian restaurant. You won’t be disappointed.
Beautiful food! Atmosphere was good, service was good. Loved this place and would come back. I ordered the arcani balls and they were wayyy too much for 1 person but they were good. They look like falafels but are so much better and softer. There’s cheese in the middle of the inside of the ball when you cut it open.

Stracci di manzo: 😁Great
Gattuso: 😁 Great
Barramundi Special : 😍Amazing
Service : 😊 Good

We just happened to stumble across this restaurant and it wasn’t at all disappointing. Amazing set up and great atmosphere. The Stracci di manzo was a pasta with very tasty pulled beef. The Gattuso is a very simple pizza that is still satisfying even though there aren’t much toppings on it. The Barramundi was just a special they had that night but it was as the best thing we ate. Worth a try especially with loved ones. It is quite pricy though.

Delicious, Amazing, 100/100, Perfect Score

I visited this restaurant for a friends birthday. There was 7 of us there. The waiter was very friendly and funny. Something I have not seen before was this waiter was showing us the specials on a Ipad. To test the chef we actually asked for some items from the Ipad.... Man oh Man, besides being absolutely delicious, they were exactly like the picture.

Service - Well, without a doubt a perfect score. Since we entered, the perfect service started. from opening the door for all of the boys to get in to pouring the wine every time our glass was nearing empty. Not many restaurant waiters know that it is always respectful to put the cork of the wine bottle on a plate of the person who tested the first glass.

Food - A few of the boys wanted to order constant entrée as the food was that perfect. Bruschetta has never tasted that perfect. We ordered a Bruschetta Pizza and Margarita pizza and olives for entrée. It was very very nice. For mains there was 7 boys who we all had different meals. There was not one person who disliked their food. We've all had Italian before but this was something different. The food were spot on!!!! This restaurant is a absolute must try.

The Desert oh man what desert it was. I had the chocolate pudding or as the waiter called it, Chocolate Volcano. That was amazing and I don't even eat desert. One recommendation I would make to the restaurant, is put an extra scoop of ice cream with this desert.

Atmosphere - This restaurant is great for catch up with friends who will not get to loud. It's quite a formal restaurant where families visit. This restaurant is also terrific for romantic lunches.

Value - Well I will pay the extra $$ any days just to eat here. It definitely is worth the visit.

Overall you will not regret a visit to this restaurant. You are guaranteed a parking because it has it's own private secure parking and plenty of it. The food is amazing, the service is perfect and the atmosphere is perfect. THIS IS A MUST VISIT!!!!

This definitely will be one of my favorite Italian restaurant.

Great service and delicious food!
Everything from entres, mains, cocktails and wines was delicious. Will definitely be going back. Thank you for a great night.

Food was average for 'fine dining' concept. Good and fast service. Probably wouldn't go back though. Would recommend oysters, fresh and delicious.
Ken
Lunch on 29/7 sat for lunch, ordered prosciutto & mushroom pizza; osso buco; and scampi seafood gnocchi. None of them are good, prosciutto not fresh and was cooked on the pizza ( supposed to be raw?) , osso buco was a shocker! Way way overcooked, meat was dry and tasted like chewing gum disgusting, the mash potato underneath was not smooth at all. At least but not last, scampi and seafood for the gnocchi were not fresh at all, ONLY the gnocchi itself was passable. Bill was over $100 for this under average pub standard food. Just don't get why it got many good reviews??? NEVER come back.

I'm a lover for Italian food and hands down, the best local Italian restaurant around Western Sydney! Must try. The staff are very friendly as well.
Hidden Liverpool Gem!

Quality modern fit out. Edi the Maitre'd and multiple staff are excellent and very forthcoming.

iPad's with photos of every dish on menu is a nice touch including daily specials.

Oysters were fresh and tasty without being sensational! (Come from Tassie so maybe spoilt in this department.)

Mains were simply exquisite....

Gnocchi was sublime, melt in your mouth with seafood in abundance....

I had the caramello styled pasta with prawn mascarpone with pancetta...original and oh so smooth!

We enjoyed a Croatian wine styled between a Pinot Gris and a Chardonnay..... Yummy 2008 😜 with sediment 👌

Dessert.... OMG The banana pastry with almond flakes, vanilla bean ice cream and strawberries was huge and probably the best banana based dessert I have ever had!!

A GEM of a restaurant in Liverpool!
Jade
One of my favourite Italian restaurants. They have never disappointed. Everything is delicious. I love their pastas and pizzas and service is always on point.

Lovely local Italian food in Liverpool. This is a must for all pasta lovers!

Great seasonal menu, friendly staff and the restaurant also had a recent renovation so the decor looks fab!
Does My Bomb Look Big In This
My dining companion recently landed a new job in the Liverpool area, so we were looking to celebrate. At the same time, we wanted to get to know his new work 'hood. It would be hard to imagine a more appropriate destination to scratch both itches than Gemelle. This restaurant was established back in 1993 – incidentally the same year as our club night was born – 23 years ago. To remain in the business for that many years means you have to be doing something right, and from the second we walked inside the glass-fronted building, the reasons for their longevity became obvious. We were greeted right at the door, with traditional Italian warmth and generosity. Guided to a table in the sleek, modern space, we’d barely settled into our seats when the seafood trolley arrived. A glistening red coral trout, lightly pink snapper and a deep green lobster are all produced for our consideration, with weights and prices rolling easily off our waiter’s tongue. Staff cracked open our special bottle of wine (yes, in Liverpool they allow BYO even on a busy Saturday night) while we contemplated the menu. The menu...

Definitely a Gem for this area! Very classy inside and out. Don't judge a place by its car parking!!
The service is exceptional and not to mention the food. Yum!! Never disappointed!
Lisaa
Amazing food and service! Did not expect to experience such great dining in the area. Definitely surpassed my expectations. Had a little mixup with the entrée so management offered it on the house, which was so lovely of them. Will certainly be returning back here with my partner and bring some friends here too!

Nothing beats this restaurant in South Western Sydney for superb Italian. The food, ambience, service is the best! But for goodness sake, try their Italian wines! Good selection and we found a beauty to go with the food - just made the night for me. Well done Gemelles!

A fine dining Italian culinary experience in the south western suburbs of Sydney. Don't be fooled by its surrounds, the restaurant is decked out in a sophisticated fashion. Beautiful cuisine, in particular, the antipasto platter which offered so much food! Mains were delicious and fresh with good wine accompaniment. As for service, our waiter was a lovely guy who assisted greatly in choosing from the many dishes. All in all, a wonderful evening.

Highlights;

Antipasto
24hr slow cooked lamb
Great service but was still hungry after a 3 course meal (entree, main, and dessert). I think the portions really depend on the dish you choose. I picked the wagyu ravioli ( approx $28) as a main and was presented with 4-5 pieces of ravioli-looking pasta. I understand that wagyu is a somewhat expensive meat and, yes, the dish was indeed delicious but it was lacking in substance. For the price you pay, you would expect to feel satisfied but I left feeling hungry with a sad hole in my wallet.

Don't get me wrong, Gemelle is a lovely experience with attentive staff but be prepared to feel underwhelmed, and maybe even a little hungry, after your visit.

p.s. my main was not actually called wagyu ravioli. It had a much more complicated name than that. But, it did have wagyu meat in it! (It's in found in the pasta section of the menu)

p.p.s the staff are great! I don't remember your names (sorry) but you guys were awesome!

We've been looking for fine dining experiences away from the city and close to home and Gemelle fits the bill. Fantastic service and atmosphere. I highly recommend the pappardelle all' anatra! The gnocchi all' aragosta was generous and tasty but the balance of prawn to lobster could have been more even. The apple tart was beautifully caramelised around the edges but the ice was a bit icy and too little.

Wow! We booked Gemelle after hearing wonderful things from family and some friends who had been. We are so glad we did! Recently renovated the restaurant is all class and sophistication! The service is amazing (even had the gorgeous boss's son who was 14 clear some plates :)) and the food to die for! Absolutely enjoyed every minute and planning our next visit!

Really enjoyed this place, price point and ambience and service is great. Would highly recommend getting the zucchini flowers, the scallops and the arancini balls. Would definitely come back again.

Love how they show you the specials on the iPad, so you can see what you are about to eat. A south-west dining favourite.

Fiori di zucchini $19.90 Fried zucchini flowers filled with ricotta, basil pesto, and sundried tomato served on a broccoli puree

Finally went after hearing so many people talk about how great Gemelle is for a local Italian restaurant and i was honestly disappointed.
Staff are very friendly and polite however the food is not that great and pretty overpriced for what you get. I probably would not come back here.
On the plus side, we got to try zucchini flowers for the first time, which was an interesting experience.
Great little hidden gem in the south west. The man who owns the restaurant is honestly one of the friendliest people you will ever meet and creates one of the nicest environments to dine in. The food is always great when I eat here and is a great price for the quality of the food.

My Impression:

What I like:
- Place looks nice on the inside (but the ceiling is awful)
- Has their own parking
- Food is usually nice

What I dislike:
- The staff seem very pushy and fake
- Expensive for what you get
- When busy, can get very loud

Overall this place was ok, better than average but when you factor in the price for what you get it works out to be a 3/5 in my books. For an Italian restaurant the portions seem to be on the small side.

I would recommend them.

Went to dinner at this restaurant and loved it. By far the best Italian restaurant I've been to. High quality traditional Italian food. Highly recommended.

Great food and great service! A bit pricey but i think its worth it. Thanks to Marek for the awesome service and hospitality. Will definitely visit again!

I haven't been to a fancy restaurant before, so this was a very new experience for me. I went with a group of friends and from the entrance, the atmosphere changed. We were greeted politely and lead to our table. From their, the waitress handed out drink and told us the specials that were up for offer. Lighting was optimal and decor was fancy to a tee. I had the gnocci which was beautifully cooked and very much so fulfilling. We didn't have time for dessert, but the dessert looked very good also. Overall, good atmosphere, very friendly staff and great food. 4/5
Will be a returning customer!. I definitely will be back here - every meal from
entree to dessert was delicious!

I was lucky enough to have lunch here with a group of friends so had the opportunity to try different dishes.

For entree my favourites and recommendation would have to be the fried stuffed green olives wrapped with pork mince - the balance in flavour was perfect & the best part was you could still taste the olive. The second would be the Carpaccio - beautifully presented and tasted as good as it looked.

For main I had the Papardelle pasta with duck and mushroom - & I wish there was more! It was delicious.

& dessert - perfectly cooked chocolate pudding which had an oozing chocolate centre. The dessert was a perfect finish to a delicious lunch. I tried the sticky date pudding too and this was just as delicious and moist.

Can't wait to go back here again!

Goat was braised well & full of intense flavours. Meat was tender and literally fell off the bone. Would have been nice if some fresh parsley and a touch of red wine was added at the end...
DroolWorthyWorld
The barramundi was cooked to perfection, atop a bed of fantastic pasta and ringed with a number of pippies. The portion of fish was fantastic, and the skin was seared with a fine crunch. The pippies was very nice, and didn’t detracted from the star of the dish. The pasta itself was delicious, and each individual bite was full of flavour. The addition of herbs wasn’t overly pungent, but supplemented the smooth flavours overall in this dish. This dish felt clean, in a really refreshing way.

Anyway for an early birthday dinner with my family we went for Italian, and I was quite impressed. Although it was a bit pricey and I almost never go fine dining, I'd definitely visit again! It's also not too far from where I live, which is always a plus.

A great local hidden gem. Service is fantastic. The waitresses come and show you the specials using photos on an iPad - bit different! Always a pleasure to dine here.

I finally got to eat zucchini flowers after seeing it all the time on MasterChef and it was amazing. Filled with ricotta and parmesan cheese and fried! Fried thing with cheese inside is one of my favourite things! I could eat a bowl on these on my own.

Bullying to Customers. We went for the dinner on Friday the 13th took, owner ask for booking , we said no, he said i have seat for 1.5 hour we said fine, he asked us to sit on table 9, as soon as we took the seat they push us like there is tsunami coming, any how we order drink and food but main meal came before on-tray. we told him we have order starter as well and he took that plate and put in the warmer. I am sure he will serve that later, we asked him what happen, he said I am fixing your problem,he also mentioned I will give you one free drink not to say any bad. this made me sick. finally we ask them to pay for the drink and we left.
He is so arrogant, unprofessional and very rude. we are taking him fair trading, not only he did to us but he does many clients, who went for the relax and pay his excessive pricey meals.
he has no shame, he is money hunger, greedy and misbehave. we was using F words and swearing in front of ladies, Please we should stop this king of people who want to make money from using F words.
I will be talking to media people to make some documentary on this shameless owner.
Paul.lambert22
Not again. Worst evening iv had out in years. The dismissive staff bungled orders and left my wife and I waiting hours for food only watch several tables served who arrived over a hour after us. The drink service was also extremely long and shouldnt take 15mins to return with beverages food was small simple and way over priced. I have frequently enjoyed going here since 2009 because of quality for money meals but the decline in size of meals and raising of prices and poor staff have ruined this venue for me. The 50% discount on our meal to apologize isnt incentive enough to return.
Whatifeel
Absolutely awful music. The music is absolutely awful and way too loud. Will not being going again.
Maya Simonovic
Came here couple of years ago. I didn't feel comfortable at all staff seemed snobby and menu was written in Italian without a English version. We walked out before we even tried the food
Simone Weid
Hands down the best ravioli I have ever tasted, the service was amazing!!! They even bought out complementary shots, complete with a non alcoholic one for our designated driver so we could all have a "cheers" moment!!!! Defiantly recommend to anyone!

Still Lovely. Went for dinner on Friday, service was great, the food was great, as i remember it, although its been about 12months since we last went there, always a great dinner. Pricey but worth it
Melissa
Decided to try this restaurant after driving past it for so long. Food and staff were excellent. Definitely would recommend this wonderful place to all my friends. The staff were very nice, polite and helpful. The food was great and the dessert topped it all off.
MK
If you're rich, great place.
Food - small quantity and so pricey, and to be honest, tasted pretty average
Staff - Quite polite but a little pushy, so much so that you couldn't even read the menu properly without being interrupted 4-5 times
It is quite a fancy place, so suit up.
Shan Lucinda
Loved it! The food was amazing, great flavour, good variety, enormous quantities! The soft shell crab was delicious, seafood ravioli had decent amount of filling, the housemade apple tart and chocolate pudding were some of the best desserts I've had in a long time!
Yes the service was a bit slow, but the food well and truly made up for it. A bit more pricey then other places out in Liverpool, but for what you get, well worth it!
Valkyrie
WHAT A SHOCKER. If you want to pay through the nose, watch the footy and be kicked out at 10pm after a cold meal then go to Gemelle's. If not give it a very wide berth. The food was cold, the portion sizes minute, the wine list prices were exhorbitant and fine dining with football????? I get 10 times the value and service at my local club....and I can avoid the football too. To then be kicked out at 10pm was the last straw.
Ciaran
Wow... Absolutely appalling. Both in food and in service. I actually don't know where to start. Eye fillet asked for medium then changed to medium rare and the lady said 'good choice because it might come over cooked. It certainly came out well done like a slab of brown conc. The chef must be a peasant. The service was terrible. No one came to ask how our dinner was let alone to see if we were satisfied with our experience. 15 minute wait for an affogato haha really topped it off. All in all I would give this place 1 out 10 for service and 1 out of 10 for food. We have been coming here for five years and it has changed for the worse.
Chaz_mcgillacuddy
The only Italian in the area worth spending at. Great food, good service and always buzzing. Try the seafood ravioli.
The Critic
Went ther with a friend for her b'day after driving past for our entire lives and loved it! Staff were really friendly, they put sparklers on her dessert once they figured why we were there. Thier garlic bread along with my parma were great. Ended up their again a week later for my b'day with a large group service still fab and they remembered us. A real gam for livo.

Love it. Fine dining, great service, exceptional menu. Will continue to keep going back again and again to dine in or take away. Also have a fantastic functions package!
