Review Al Barakeh Chacoal Chicken - Liverpool

Ganesh (G7)
We ordered 3 whole chickens with 1 large fries, garlic and siracha mayo. The chicken was tender, well cooked and tasty. Can't complain about the quantity, it was more than enough. Fries were fresh and crispy and went well with the siracha mayo and the garlic dip. Overall we were satisfied with the meal and would definitely order from here again. 🙌👍

One of the best charcoal chicken I have had to date, charred on the outside but succulent on the inside. The food here was delicious and very tasty.

You can feel the passion coming through in the product. I’m not sure if anyone else has experienced art made by an artist right in front of you, but everything about this place made me feel so good. The chef understands flavour and freshness and we couldn’t get past how this passion translated right onto our palette. We knew we were in for a great time When he handed our food to us with a smile. When we complemented him he radiated with gratitude because you can really feel the authentic passion this guy has for his craft. YUM. Best chicken burger I’ve honestly ever had.. the garlic sauce (and every other seasoning and sauce is homemade) and It made all the difference. Thank you! YUM!!! We will be back

Got the chicken burger combos. The fries were thick cut and freshly cooked. Absolutely delicious. The chicken burgers on the other hand were a tad dry and lacking a little bit of seasoning. Overall though, it was a delicious meal and the service was lovely too so that always makes up for a lot!

Hands down BEST charcoal chicken restaurant in NSW. Nothing beats your tasty clean and well packaged food. Whether I'm in store or food is delivered, I am so happy and more than satisfied with your exceptional quality dishes. Thank you for maintaining high quality food and excellent customer service.

Coming down from the Gold Coast for work and my team took me to Al Barakeh for lunch. Ordered the student meal deal for $11 with a drink and it was so delicious and filling with the bread and garlic dip was spot on on flavour. Chicken was cooked well and the crispy skin was too die for. Wish they had a store on the Gold Coast is what i told the owners who were friendly.

The chicken is much juicier than its bigger competitor which is down the road.(don't want to name and shame). If you're ever in Liverpool and after a good lebanese style charcoal chicken don't think twice, try this place out!

The best charcoal chicken shop in Liverpool, even in Sydney and I’ve tried them all. The chicken is so juicy, the chips always hot and crunchy and wow the garlic sauce. All the food is fresh and you can see them make it all in front of you which is important for me. Special mention for the chicken burgatti burger, it’s really good.

The best chicken shop in the world.. Beautiful staff, lovely food, and most definitely the best service I've ever received. Been visiting since i was a young girl living in Liverpool, I now live in Camden and travel to Liverpool to feed the less fortunate every second Tuesday in Liverpool Bigge park and I eat at Al Barakeh after I finish my volunteer work..also, Thank you, god bless to the wonderful lady Jackie who works there, possibly the owner, who donated money to help my charity, I feel very blessed that a stranger had such a generous heart to help the homeless community.

The chicken was pretty chewy. Good charcoal flavour though and good garlic sauce but higher prices than the Granville standard-setters, should be cheaper when it's cash only.

The reason why i started loving and continue loving charcoal chicken was this place. The ambience is not the fancy kind but food here particularly the charcoal chicken is 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻

Was keen to try this place given the glowing reviews. Service was fast and the chips were cooked perfectly. Price was standard. The pros pretty much stops there.

Bought a whole chicken and it was the driest charcoal chicken I’ve purchased. Salty and sour in a terrible way. Both drumsticks charred and inedible. Definitely not fresh and likely was reheated. Reading the negative comments it looks like a lottery if they give you a fresh chicken or not for takeaway. And it seems this shameful practice has been going on for a long time.

Would not return. Would not recommend. Also this place is not in the same league to El Jannah’s, not even close.

I always get the student pack when I come to this restaurant, it is a friday and it's always very busy however we get our meals pretty quickly. They're always perfect and the service is great, especially for the price you can't go wrong.

Chicken was a little burnt for my liking but the prices are very decent! Their garlic sauce tastes like it has mayo in it which i didn't mind! Overall enjoyed my meal

The whole Chicken isn't as juicy and succulent as the other Charcoal Chicken shops, unless I got one sitting in the display for hours.
Hot chips were fresh and tasty however Tabouli needs major improvement, lacks lemon juice, chopped onions and olive oil!
I gave 2/5 for the very friendly staff working on Saturday otherwise found it relatively expensive for the whole chicken meals.

Really decent place to get your charcoal chicken fix in the area, especially with all the popular places being located in Granville. Staff are nice and the food comes out quite quickly, however, the tables are sometimes left messy after customers have finished dining. It takes the staff some time to clean it up, though understandable if they are very busy. The one thing I particularly enjoy about this place is that the pickled vegetables are not as sour as other places e.g. EJ. Hot tip! It's cheaper to takeaway ^__^

Al Barakeh makes probably the best Lebanese-style charcoal chicken in Sydney. I have been going to Al Awafi and El Jannah for years but have found their chicken has progressively become less and less flavourful. In the last 2-3 years I've been eating at Al Barakeh and the chicken is delicious, deeply savourly and well-seasoned, with the characteristic smoky and tangy flavour. The best part about it is that they are really consistent in this regard as well, which their competitors are not.

On top of this the sides are all good, and the customer service is excellent. You can tell it's a family run place with people who actually care about the quality of food they serve. They should definitely look into opening new locations, I really do think their chicken is a lot better than El-Jannah and Awafi. Well worth the drive.

Best charcoal chicken in Liverpool. They make one of the best tabouli! Full of lemony flavour 🤤 chicken is always made fresh and service is always friendly. Creamy garlic sauce is to die for!

I’m a little upset at myself for living so close to Al Barakeh but it took me this long to try it. I loved everything about the chicken, garlic sauce, chips, pickles and bread.

The chicken was seasoned perfectly, I’ve previously had charcoal chicken that was too lemon-y. Chips were fried to perfection and the pickles/radish was not too sour just the way I like it.
Tanya
This Lebanese joint is pretty tasty. Who needs el jannah when you have al barakeh? This place does pretty good charcoal chicken and garlic sauce. I actually like their garlic sauce better since it isn’t as strong in garlic aftertaste. Got a chicken kebab this time - simple and cheap. One of the hidden gems in the area.
Violet Moon
Very bad customer service, very rude waitress who refused to accept she got our order wrong, when we asked to pack it to go seen as we are not getting a refund, she refused, stating I thought you didn't want it. I lost my appetite!!
Rocco
The staff was very friendly and the food is great value for money. Everything was very tasty and was very clean inside the restaurant. Would definitely come back again.
Best place to go to for charcoal chicken, the garlic sauce is my favourite. I have been going here for 6 years and can’t get enough of it !!

Al Barakeh is an unassuming spot in Liverpool for some affordable Lebanese-style charcoal chicken. The outlet near Liverpool railway station features a clean canteen-style interior with black plastic tables and distinct red coloured chairs.

I got a quarter chicken for less than 10 bucks. The chicken was not marinated, so all its flavours are derived from the black char. The dry, overcooked and hard chook resembled a failed barbeque product of an inexperienced elementary-school student handling the ovens and grills for the first time. I could not finish the chook. The sunkist orange fizz is probably the only good thing from the eatery.

We've been coming here for the Classic charcoal chicken feed (4/5) which never disappoints! The chicken is always tender inside with the right amount of charring on the outside. The garlic sauce is excellent and the pita is nothing special but everything else makes it a 4/5 for the price, speed and quantity of food.

Today we came here for the Falafel Plate (3.5/5): The falafels themselves are GREAT! They're so tender inside, I've had a lot of dry falafels in my time but these were perfect. The only thing I didn't love about the plate were the sides, the lettuce, tomato and onions were kind of just sad on their own. The plate should really come with tabbouleh or something pickled to break up the Falafel flavour. The hummus it came with was also just ok.

My friend had the chicken burger which he gave a 4/5 and even said it was like "KFC in a burger" and deemed it the best burger he's had in a while!

Always amazing charcoal chicken. But that chicken burger!!! Get it with a side of chips and garlic and you will be hooked. The staff are lovely and the food is delicious. It’s a family owned and run shop and you can see it in the pride they take in their work and in their shop.

I believe this is one of the best charcoal chicken places in Sydney. The chicken is full of flavour throughout and the garlic sauce is excellent. Great seating area tooo and the burgers aren’t bad either.
Joan Tran
Got say best place to eat, i always love the lemon scent in the chicken, when you eat it, the service and the staff are amazing! When i first went there my experience was successful and had nothing else to eat because the chicken made me full, very afforable price and great deal 👍 and choices
The Naked Food Addict
This is my favourite charcoal chicken place by far!! This little hidden gem in the streets of Liverpool always lives up to my expectation! Delicious charcoal chicken (cooked to perfection), the creamiest garlic dip, and the best chips to mix! Prices are great in my opinion, I feel like you really get your bang for your buck and the service is always good too! They are usually quite busy but they still make you feel important and they make you feel like they want to go above and beyond for you (especially when dining in). Delicious pickles too (yummmmmmmo)!
Andy Kyoto
Go to place for charcoal chicken in the area , food comes out quickly and such good service from the workers. Chicken is juicy , chips are crispy and the garlic sauce accompanies it very well.
NatashaK
Pretty decent for a charcoal chicken places in the Liverpool area.
When cooked fresh the chicken is actually really really good. If you're not lucky enough to be served fresh chicken, it's pretty dry and not very enjoyable. They give out a pretty generous serving of bread and pickles as well and their garlic sauce isnt too bad (although ive had better).
The only negative thing about this place is their popr customer service, which at times is rude and depending on who is working. The price difference between dine in and take away is pretty ridiculous too. Parking is also pretty hard to find, but if you can get past all of that, Al Barakeh is quite an ok place

👅Taste-wise : delicious.
💰Price-wise : inconsistently expensive.
🙇🏻Staff treatment : friendly but no smile.

I liked their chicken and we always ordered the Family Meal which was $24, consists of the bread, whole chicken, chips, and garlic sauce. But we revised the meal by changing the chips to pickled veggies and switch the garlic sauce into large and costs us $27.50. At first it was alright, then next order it went up into $28.50. And believe it or not, today it went up AGAIN into $29!! I dont understand they keep charging us more money. They have good food but it's very disappointing that it's so expensive.
Jackie
Had charcoal chicken here twice. The chips were fresh enough, but the chicken tastes horrible. The marinade was sour and and chicken skin and marinade burnt leaving in my mouth a taste the imagination could only picture as dirty oven grime. Would not return for chicken, especially as a family member who lives local confirms the same. Garlic sauce and chips I couldn't fault, but ofcourse its harder to get those wrong.. Had takeaway by the way. Would have been same review if I had eaten there.

Al barakeh is the go-to for garlic chicken in the area. Consistent service and quality over many years and they are continuing to refresh and innovate with new burger options.

One of the best Charcoal Chicken shops in the West. The staff are friendly, food delicious, and reasonably priced. The sides could be better.
2hungryysisters
Al Barakeh is pretty decent for a charcoal chicken joint in Liverpool. When fresh the chicken is actually quite delicious. If youre unlucky however (like we have been on a few occasions) the non-fresh chicken can be a bit dry. Their servings for bread and pickles is quite generous and their garlic sauce is okay. Not the best we've had but still good and enjoyable.
The only downside to this place is their customer service, which can be quite rude and unfriendly on some occasions depending on who is working and the price difference between dining in and taking away. Parking is also difficult to find but if you can get past all of that, Al Barakeh goes quite alright.
Mike
Excellent, authentic and flavoursome charcoal chicken. Generous serving of pickles and bread.
Only downside, garlic sauce could be better and the discrepancy between dine in and take away price.
Can Eat
All barakeh is the premier chicken restaurant in Liverpool. Serving size is strong, exemplified by the excessive bread serving for which you may need a wheel barrow to transport the remainder after you finish your meal.
Orangegallery
Grill chicken has too much vinegar other to that all the other dishes tastes good. Roll was yummy and there was right combination of tastes.
Sandhya
Great local place for charcoal chicken. Staff are very friendly and service is very quick. Can't go wrong with the food here. The only downfalls are the parking around the restaurant is hard to find and they only accept cash here, other than that I would highly recommend it.
Residanna
This was our go-to take away when living in Lurnea. We literally inhaled the family deal every time. Even the bread was delish by itself and everything so fresh.
Cash only, no delivery and hard to find a park were the only cons. But totally worth the trouble.

One of the great things about Western Suburbs is there are many authentic Lebanese and Vietnamese restaurants. Don't get me wrong there are many nice Lebanese or Vietnamese in the inner city and close neighboring suburbs but they lack that authentic taste as many of them have modernized or customized to suit the demographics. To stay on point this one doesn't disappoint. Traditional garlic charcoal chicken, great fattoush salad and of course pungent traditional garlic sauce. Don't recommend this if you are on a date as the famous garlic burbs of such feed will leave you friend-less.
Flavor Ninja
My Impression: They are located in what I would consider the "dodgy park of Liverpool" (then again 80% of Liverpool is probably dodgy).

The food is well priced, fresh and the service is good. The chicken is roasted on coals which gives it that great flavor. They have plenty of options although their seating area is a little on the "cheap" side (but that's ok because the food is good).

If you're every walking by give them a go, I doubt you will be disappointed.

PS: Don't let the location put you off (parking is a pain).
Irene
A popular charcoal chicken outlet situated right next to a gym (the irony). There is not much i can fault with this chain besides the fact that the chicken is dry (at times) but i believe that's to be expected as they are cooking it over an open fire for prolonged periods. Perfect place for family fast-food night. Great vibes. Would recommend if you are looking for comfort food.
MKC Inc.
This is a great charcoal chicken joint with consistently tasty food. The chicken is always fresh and hot, chips are well seasoned and the sides are terrific too. My favourite is the fattoush salad, the salad is crispy, the pomegranate glaze is generous, well dressed and its topped with crisp Lebanese bread.. A must try!

Al Barakeh is almost as popular in the area is as El Jannah is around other areas. I've found the food here to be a little bit less consistent but when it's at it's best the chicken is actually quite amazing and could probably hold it's own as the best Charcoal chicken in Sydney.
Cee Elle
Best charcoal chicken!. I eat a LOT of chicken and this spot has the best when compared to everyone else! I bought a few chooks and drove them all the way home to Melbourne... risking food poisoning with unsanitary food temperatures and all... it's that good and super tasty!
Andy Lee
Incomparable charcoal chicken!. The best charcoal chicken in Sydney. The menu is well rounded, the chicken is perfectly cooked and the recipe for the chicken is magic! Very fair pricing; if they charged double I would still pay!
I travel extra just to eat at Al Barakeh. No other charcoal chicken restaurant even comes close to the quality of the food here.

Food 9/10
Service 9/10
Price 8/10

Al Barakeh has become my new favourite charcoal chicken place, and has the added convenience of being just down the road from me. The friendly service and laid back atmosphere will lead me here whenever I'm craving a garlic fix.
Mr Shawn & Miss Chicken
The works - $20 for bread, pickles, toum (uber garlicky white dippy stuff) and a chopped up chook. The chook is fantastic, the strong salty flavour to the skin is intensified by the blackened charcoaled bits. The flavour is so strong we can pad it out with loads of the supplied bread, pickles and toum, and we easily get dinner out of it as well. Bargain. We reckon Al Barakeh's chook is right up there with Sydney's favourite Lebanese chicken joint, El Jannah.

Pricing is a bit shifty. food above average. overall, go elsewhere. This place is close to home so I go here when I cant be bothered driving to Bankstown or Granville. Food is good especially chips. Chicken is a bit dry compared to other charcoal chicken and lebanese restaurants. WAY overpriced. Their mixed platter + fattoush =$30. They are pretty stingy and their meals/mix plates don't come with tabouli, fattoush or chips and they ask if you to want to " add it to the side" ? Which is small but expensive. Their garlic sauce isnt even enough for a baby! Ill upload a photo soon to prove. What do you think differentiates lebanese to other places? Not the bread, chicken, but the GARLIC sauce! Rip off.

Wouldn't recommend unless you are local and willing to pay $$$$ for average takeaway food. If you go to Eljannahs or Awafi you pay half the price and get lots of everything. Jasmin 1 Bankstown's mixed plate is $18: a heap of lebanese bread, half a plate of meat, baba ghanoush, hommus, falafel, fattoush/tabbouli and a large amount of garlic sauce.

Dont think we dont know Al barakeh. 4/10

Wonderful charcoal chicken!. Came here for dinner and was just in time, before it was about to close. The chicken here is great as well as, the service. The atmosphere is good too.

Love Love. I used to go Bankstown to get my Charcoal Chicken but my friend introduced me to this one and I Love it.
The chicken is fresh, the tabouli taste great and all the sauces are super tasty.
The staff are very friendly and they just renovated and have more dinning space. Thumbs Up
The_1st_3lit3
Inconsistent pricing.. Inconsistent with their pricing. Be cautious of the pricing used for dine-in and take-away menu items, there is a tendency to short change you so it is wise to work out how much things cost prior to your order. I have been there on numerous occasions and have not once had the correct change given.

Otherwise, food is great.
Cinnamon
The staff here are so friendly and diligent in getting your food out ASAP. Definitely the best charcoal chicken place out Liverpool way! The chicken is super fresh and never disappoints!
Hsfuufdsur
If you order a chicken kebab.... Make sure you specify that you want FRESH HOT charcoal chicken, unless you want cold and dry leftovers at the end of the night. I ordered a chicken kebab with garlic sauce, taboulli and chips. Everything was beautiful except for the chicken, which was the one thing I was craving for. An unfortunate experience after reading so many good reviews about the great chicken. Would go back to try the kebab with fresh chicken but was disappointed by this one. Not all hope was lost as my side order of chips was crunchy and crisp, very delicious.
True Review
For such a small place it is extremely busy. Could do with some more floor space. Service and food was great!
Food Explorer
THE BEST IN TOWN!!. Very friendly and helpful staff upon arrival to end of meal. The charcoal chicken was fresh, moist and a nicely seasoned charcoal skin without being overly salty. A quarter piece was sufficient for quick and satisfying lunch meal as it was a decent size portion and was accompanied with extra condiments on the side. This included a steaming warm bag of fresh lebanese bread, a small tub of garlic sauce and generous servings of pickled cucumbers and radish. All this cost only $7 bucks. Chicken also comes in half or whole, along with complimentary side dishes. I love the garlic sauce here than other places, simply because i am a garlic person and there is lots of garlic flavours in the sauce. You would only need a little dip or spread on the bread and would be sufficient and tasty! One other thing i tried here besides their delicious charcoal chicken and side dishes was their hot chips. I like my chips not too chunky, but thinner and crispy with lots of chicken salt. Definately does it right here! So happy to find a modest, clean and friendly restaurant that sells one of my favourite lebanese food of all time.. right near home!! You will be satsified!! must try, for a yummy cheap meal.
Nily
Upon arrival, you will be greeted by a small, cosy and clean shop- ideal for a an express meal. But that's not the case for this little exotic shop. After the meal arrives it is imperative to try the garlic sauce- its saturated yet mouth-watering texture will blast your taste buds away. The garlic sauce will put El Janna to shame. And the service is terrific.

Yo the grub is good.

Extremely DRY and SALTY. Had a bad experience here the other night

chicken was really dry and salty, hard to eat when that much salt is present

would not recommend

Best charcoal chicken from coast to coast.. I have been to many charcoal chicken/ middle eastern restaraunts that all have great food however Al Barakeh Charcoal Chicken in Liverpool is by far the best. Every time my wife and I go there, there is a huge line and if you didn't know the food was so great you might not wait but alot of people do, the shop is always packed, doesn't matter what day. They have Great food, great customer service, great atmosphere and all for a great price. Having take away food for dinner these days is very expensive especially when feeding a large family at Al Barakeh I can get a whole chicken, large pickles, large garlic sauce and Lebanese bread for around $25 and that will feed 4 adults comfortably. I gotta run, found this site searching for Al Barakeh's number to place an order and i love it so much I decided to leave a msg.

I have had a bad experience there with service. I've been there twice before and had great service and the second best food only to el jannah( the best! ). Tonight it was busy and the girl working kept serving others around but not me. I raised her attention and she looked at me as if to silence me! Immediately I left. El jannah only now.
Bec Jaques
The best chicken ever. Love the chips, the bread, the salads and omg the garlic sauce. The service is friendly and the food is always so fresh.
Olivia
Great chicken garlic and chips. We eat here regularly and have never had a bad experience. Well done and thanks for giving Liverpool some decent food. Always clean and fresh
Sydneyguyrojoe
One of the better chicken places around. The chicken here will give El Jannah in Granville a run for its money. A hidden place and like most people the ambience of this place is like a run down take away shop with only a few tables inside and out. The chicken though is good, better than your average charcoal chicken place. If you eat in they give you garlic dip and some of their pickles but my only complaint with the food is the garlic dip is a little too salty.

Service, nil issues here, food did not take long to come to us. Value, its well priced and $12 for half a chicken and the sides is good value. Worth trying, despite the overall rating which is dragged down by the ambience, a hidden gem in Liverpool!
Lorence Issa
Great tasting chicken & the garlic sause is nice and creamy, good value & good service! recommended..
Augz Dee
Awesome charcoal chicken especially good when you haven't had it in a while if the Colonel set up shop in the middle east it'd still run a distant second to Al Barakeh's chooks.
