Review Black Rose Cafe - Liverpool

Really good food, although a little pricey. Really friendly staff. Our pizzas were tasty and so was the wine. Will go back again.

I have to honestly say one of the best Italian restaurants I have been to in Sydney. The service is fantastic and the food is amazing. Ever since I have moved to the area, its the Italian restaurant of choice! I highly recommend

Black Rose just gets everything right. A hidden gem in the heart of Liverpool, the food and service excel every time. I asked the owner to recommend a wine to match my food and it was no trouble to give me a little to taste. Of course, it was perfect. I will be back again soon.

Great place! Very clean, welcoming and very friendly place. Excellent pizza. Many locals coming & going to pick up and know hosts well. Well done, I'll be back!

Still a beautifully presented cafe as it was when I was a teenager. The pride in quality you’d expect from a family owned business. 👍

Recently dined here for a business lunch based on a recommendation. COVID check in was simple and easy and there was plenty of space between seated tables. Staff were excellent - everyone we interacted with were very warm and friendly and we were all very happy with our food which we had a mixture of pizza, pasta and salads across our table.

Delicious! Can't fault this restaurant everything was amazing from the time we walked in to the time we left! Food desert and wine was amazing! Cant wait till next time

We found that the taste of orange in the kingfish entree was overpowering as it took away from the natural flavours of the fish. The pizzas and pastas however were good. The staff were friendly and accommodating.

Amazing food here, very very friendly staff and great service always!! The best pasta dishes we order is the spaghetti aolio gamberetti and the penne genevesi. Another main I would recommend is the barramundi in aqua pazza. Highly recommend this restaurant!

Food : 😁 Great
Drinks : 😍 Amazing
Service : 😁 Great
Price : 😊 Good

Came here for dinner and ordered the Banquet Menu. The entrees were sooo good ! What a way to kick start the night. My favourite would have to be the garlic prawns. Mains were big in size but some dishes lacked flavour. I enjoyed eating the Barramundi Fillet the most. Here they sell the most amazing cocktails and freshly squeezed juices. The service from one of the waiters was outstanding. The others not so much. Overall a great experience. Will definitely be back.

Visited for a 21st party. This Italian restaurant has an amazing Chef. The antipasto was delicious and fresh.

A very picky diner might frown at the bread rolls being room temperature rather than warm. The lack of traditional dipping oil was also a minor oversight.

However, these transgressions were forgotten when the Calamari was served.

Seasoned to perfection and you could taste the freshness in the soft rings without a hint of chewiness or strings. This dish told the entire table the Chef was an artist and we eagerly awaited the main courses.

I tried the wrapped chicken with capsicum sauce. A fairly plain dish, but perfectly cooked. Tasty and nicely seasoned.

However, the short rib was in another class. Perfectly cooked medium rare, with a thin crusty skin. The meat fell off the bone and melted in the mouth. This was the Chef fully meeting the expectations set up with the calamari antipasto.

The exceptional short rib exposed a problem with the 'alternative seat' catering methodology. While I didn't hear anyone complain, I did feel those with the chicken missed out. Both mains need to be evenly matched up and I do wonder if a seafood dish might have been a better choice.

But maybe I'm just being pedantic. There was nothing but happy diners in our party, so any quibbles I mention are largely irrelevant.

The service staff were busy and attentive. The wine and beer flowed freely and we never felt neglected. The settings were functional and attractive.

A large screen TV scrolled through photos of the birthday girl and family. A table was supplied for the cake and our party of 45 mixed and chatted between 3 tables with plenty of room.

Warmed up bread, dipping oil and my quibble about main selection (more likely a customer choice rather than the venue) are the only visible weaknesses I could find in an otherwise perfect catering experience. The Black Rose Cafe knows how to nail a fantastic party.

If you enjoy an Italian experience and want first class food, I can thoroughly recommend this cafe. It's a jewel.

Food: 8.5/10
Service: 8/10
Cost: 8/10
Ambiance: 8/10

Date eaten: 9/2/2017

After being seated by our waiter, he brought our menus and proceeded to tell us about the daily special menu items they had today. I ended up ordering the nutella milkshake on that menu and my friend ordered a burger, which was also from the daily menu. Another friend ordered a gnocchi dish. We received water, cups, plates and forks and knives.

The nutella shake came first and it really did taste like nutella! It was a little sweet but very much enjoyable. The gnocchi came out... But we received something we didn't order- the fries which were mistook for the burger. My friend had to reorder the burger. We didn't mind so we just ate them. The fries had aioli sauce on top, cheese and bits of bacon. Fries were burnt at some parts but they were pretty nice in general.

The gnocchi tasted sensational with the cheese. My friend did not finish the gnocchi (since it was a very large plate) and was able to get the leftovers in a takeaway box. I did not get to taste the burger, but according to my friend the bun tasted like McDonald's. However, she did enjoy the burger despite not enough cheese and a sauce(?) dripping from it.

I quite liked the food and the staff are very welcoming. The cafe feels a bit like a diner, but the counter definitely looks like a cafe. The food is nothing too special, but it sure is tasty.

Reading the other reviews reminds me of the saying "you just can't please everyone..", tonight... I was pretty pleased. Go to Parramatta if you want ordinary Italian or Cafe food... Because you won't get that here! Been coming here for years and it just keeps getting better.

Used a groupon voucher here and they didnt lower their standards unlike other groupon places. Ordered the eggs benedict with smoked salmon with a skim cappuccino. Eggs were beautifully cooked and other accompaniments (spinach/bread) were nice as well.

My impression: Service is bad, and the old man that works there seems to have a short fuse.

The food is nothing special, but you're still paying good money for it (the "nothing special food").

I would not recommend this place or go there again.
