Review Woodlands Tandoori - Liverpool

Kimi V
A sweet local Indian restaurant with a great range of dishes. I highly recommend the Chicken Tikka Masala, however all the Dosa's dishes are also very delicious. Meals are average in price, depending on what you order but it works out to be about $25-$30pp. Rating this 4 stars as the decor and ambience is cold and not inviting.

Good friendly service. The dosas were great probably amongst the best we had. Only thing was there was no toilet.

Always at a good standard.. a bit pricey but quality ingredients used and I can tell as my stomach is happy the next day every time.. the old man there always serves with a smile and had become a friend due to us frequenting when we used to live there... probably one of the best Indian restaurants quality wise...

Really good Food & service. I would have given 100 star if I could. Best service I ever had in an Indian Restaurant. Strongly recommend. I'll definitely come back here in my next holidays in Sydney.

The masala dosas are a family favourite at Woodlands. We had the honour of hosting our engagement ceremony at the restaurant and the entire experience was memorable. The service, food and staff are all amazing. The food was something to remember and gives very homely vibes. All the staff members are very plesant and welcoming. We have always had a positive experience dining here. From entrees, mains to desserts, each item on the menu is unique to the restaurant and will not dissapoint. The gulab jamuns are by far the best offered at an Indian restaurant!

Within less than 10 minutes of ordering, our food was delivered cooked to perfection. The portions were great and definitely satisfied us even when shared. - Great Service! Great Food! (Will have to come back to try out the dosa's, deliciously described by one of the friendly staff)

A decent restaurant amidst the busy main street of Liverpool. Great taste and moderately priced. Porrion sizes could have been better.
Food-4
Ambience-3
Service-3
Value for money-3

Quite delicious Indian food in the heart of Liverpool. The masala thosai was good but lacked the spices I thought it would have. The goat byriani was plentiful but again lacking in herbs and spices. The meal was $80 for 4 meals. Please bring the teas out sooner next time.

Another stop on the wonderful Taste Food Tour Of Liverpool. The Indian aromas hit you as soon as you walk in. There is a sweets cabinet on your right (for the sweet tooths out there).

We sat down and were treated to some vegetarian dosa. Similar to a rolled up crepe, it is made of rice and gram. This version, Masala Dosa, was stuffed with potatoes and served with a variety of sauces and chutneys. It wasn’t spicy at all and tasted delicious. Dipping it into the sauces added some lovely flavours and some did increase the spiciness levels.

Tried Dosa for the first time!

It was filled with potatoes and spices, and the soup with it was delicious along with the other two curry sauces.Yummy to dip the dosa into!

Very strong smell of spices as you walk into this venue! Good food and curries though :)

Ordered masala dosa, the dosa was crispy and tomato chutney was delightful. Potato filling was light and tasty. Paneer butter masala was creamy and was perfect combo for Roti.

Nice friendly place with some really authentic home style south Indian food. Service can vary a bit at times but always with a smile. Used to be only vegetarian but now with some tandoori options as well

I came out here to catch up with some work mates and a former colleague. The restaurant decorated in Indian murals. I first notice the sweets and bhuja for sale in the counter. The accomodating owner showed us to our table. We were after some spicier options this evening and with southern Indian cuisine being this restaurants specialty that is what we got. We ended up ordering the thali(a banquet type meal). With some spicy food in store for us, we were after some cold beers to accompany our meal unfortunately the restaurant was not licensed. But the owner pointed us in the right direction to pick up some beers. It worked out well, as when we got back our meal was ready for us. The thali was a great choice 2 vegetable curries and 2 meat curries with a plethora of accompaniments with, I chose the mini masala dosa, a thin crisp tube like pancake to go with my meal. This and the pappadum added some crisp texture to the meal, the meal also came with pickled vegetables to cut throught the spiceof the curry. There were three different types of rice dishes the basmati rice to soak up the curry sauce, a briyani(spice flavoured rice) and raitha(this one combined rice with a salty yoghurt) which mellowed the spice of the curry. The 2 vegetarian curries were an aloo gobi masala and a malai kofta curry both were tasty and full of flavour. The meat curries were the chicken chettinad which had a good spice kick that was not too over the top. The second meat curry I ordered as a contrast the spice kick of the chttinad was the lamb korma. A creamy coconut and cashew based curry with tender lamb pieces throughout. We also ordered the palak paneer to share, a delicious cheese and spinach curry. The thali also has a sweet element that I have yet to mention which was the gulab jamoon. A sweet round dumpling soaked in sugar syrup. In all an extremely tasty meal, so much flavour and variety if you order the thali. This place is definitely worth a look in.

I had gone there with my friend and his wife. The food was very good - ordered only South Indian food. JP, the owner was very courteous and spoke to us at length about his journey. Proud of his social service as well.

My friend had thali and I had dosa and vada. Very well done. Excellent service.

The overall food is not too bad. Ignore the ambience and you will be fine. Always had the south Indian food here, the dosa. It's crisp and buttery. However always found it bit expensive for the quality. There are better places around Liverpool area.

We made the mistake of ordering north Indian food here. I later realised that this used to be a south Indian restaurant, and so really good at making dosa, idli, etc. The naans, prawn tandoori and chicken tikka were horrible.
Naan looked like they were ready made and just heated up in the oven;
The prawn curry had eight small prawns with a lot of orange coloured sauce, you could even see the powder they had used to make the curry from!
The chicken tikka was chewy.

Had veg thali last sat and hubby had the non veg thali .. Worst food ever. Absolutely no effort made for the food. They should go around to other places in Harris park to get an idea how the thali meal is served, the saving grace was the masala Dosa served with the thali , will def avoid this place

Indian food is abundant towards this part of Liverpool and it's great to see a nice restaurant so close to where I work with delicious thali on the menu. Overall great food and definitely will visit again for a lunch time meal.

Dissapointed. Butter chicken needs stronger flavour please!! Can barely taste anything that is usually put into authentic butter chicken..apart from a hint of coriander maybe!! Apart from that i would still come back and try kther dishes!!

Had a fantastic dinner at the Woodlands Tandoori. The price was a little expensive, but the curry was so delicious that the price didn't even matter. Definitely a hidden gem in the south west. So glad there's a good Indian place near by! I had the Dal Makhani and a friend had the palak paneer, both vegetarian options. It was very delicious and I would recommend it!

Fantastic service, awesome food and excellent price! Best Indian ever! You know your in for a good feed when in a full restaurant of real Indian heritage people are eating there :-)

Kons Review. For Vegetarians who want a restaurant committed to meat free Indian food then Woodlands is the perfect place. There is a huge diversity of meals on the menu. It is an authentic India friendly family restaurant with freshly cooked meals. I certainly wasn't disappointed and look forward to another meal at Woodlands Liverpool.

We were heading back from Canberra, when we (a group of 4) decided to take an exit at Liverpool and eat here! We were a little skeptical since we had chosen this restaurant randomly. We came in and decided to order the usuals, roti and some currys. Later, we were welcomed by a very sweet person (I am guessing it is the owner). He spoke to us in 'Kannada', as we all are from Bangalore. He challenged that we would love his food. We decided to try the world-renowned Masala dosa and Gobi Manchurian as entrees. Wow, they were yummy. Dosa was made in Ghee-awesome. Gobi Manchurian had just the right spice. Rotis with Malai Kofta and Dal Makhani were good too! Loved it. I specially went and thanked the 'owner' for the good time we had and for treating us with nice words in our local language.
