Review Thai Essence - Liverpool

Natasha Love
I'm a fan of Thai food and eaten here before so I thought it would be a good choice. It seems to be common in Sydney that food establishments aren't often busy. Prices were reasonable, i think they may have lowered them. Interior is nice and atmosphere is good. Staff are attentive without being in your face. Service was quick. Food was good. The noodles were way too salty though. I'm not sure what they used but next time it would be better if they used a lot less salt. There wasn't much meat in either of the dishes, so I removed a star for that.

Thai restaurant with rustic decor, friendly service and lots of seating. It wasn't filled when we went even though it was a Saturday night. Out was maybe only about 20% full. We had the chicken satay skewers, which was ok, the duck curry with pineapple and lychee which is normally my fave (aka duck penang curry) at any other Thai place but it was very disappointing here -- soup was way too bland and runny, the banana flower chicken salad which was very tasty -- would definitely recommend -- and the durian black sticky rice which wasn't too sweet and just right. We might come back but not order the duck curry again.

Went there yesterday with some coworkers for a team lunch. The menu consists of very good Thai/Lao food. The service is excellent. Admittedly the restaurant was not busy but I got the impression that service is important even when it is busy. The restaurant itself is well fitted out without being pretentious, I love the wood carvings. In short, A very pleasant experience and I will go back as will all the people I dined with.

This Resturant has the best food and best service. The food actually is the best I’ve had from a Thai Resturant ever. Amazing. Thank you.

The food was decent but the shop owner is rude and unwelcoming. Stopped here for a quick lunch and questioned split bill payment option, she left it up to the waitress to answer questions and didn't even attempt to acknowledge our question. Very rude, doesn't smile and has no customer centre approach. Once again. The food was good but if the owner has zero tolerance to speak to her customers it's hard to disgest my food without bring totally offended. 1 star for the cook/ staff -4 stars for the poor behaviour displayed by the owner/manager.

you guys have reduced your portion after the corona mate. I know it's hard time but I would rather pay more and get the same amount. Because there is expectation from customers when it comes to the food quality and quantity. Quality stays the same which is great but quantity reduced like that? Not good mate. These things need to have consistency. or increase the price if money is issue and provide the same quality quantity food please.

Service and drinks were good. The food is the same as other good Thai restaurants - nothing outlandish. The fried ice cream is better than the standard of other restaurants, but it's not the best. The menu could be updated with better photos of their food, just to increase the appetite more but that's just a nitpick. TLDR; good food with a good atmosphere and nice service, good for all types of customers

standard service and really standard food, we didnt feel welcome from the moment we walk in. limited menu that did not satisfy the palette at all. no knowledge of food and wine pairing aswell, and got our order wrong, and we were the only ones there? i honestly wish i could say better but to be honest i think they just don"t care.

Very disappointing today. Just had Thai chicken fried rice with added mushroom and broccoli. Got a plate full of rice, 3 decent size pieces of chicken and 4 tiny broken pieces. Mushrooms that needed to be cooked and 2 pieces of carrots that were almost raw. Barely any flavour. I was so starving hungry I just ate the rice. My first order had onions when I said no onions. Wasn't going to wait again for another to be cooked. Gave the waitress my feedback and all she could say was ok ohh ok ohh. Seriously? What about offering more chicken or free meal. Not worth paying $16.95!!!

Our office ordered lunch special and I particularly and specifically ordered seafood with noodle. We asked if they have flat rice noodle, they said yes. The lunch menu for Seafood noodle is $10.95. When my friend made the order, whoever took the order never mentioned any price difference if you want to have flat fried rice. So I assume the price is the same. When our orders arrived in the office (my colleague picked them up), I found that mine was charged $13.50....and WORSE STILL....it was not seafood but a combination (1 pc of green mussel, 1 pc of calamari, 1 pc of not-so-fresh small prawn, 2 pcs of beef and 1 pc of pork/chicken). I was surprised that a Seafood noodle has red meat in it!!! I was so disappointed with the wrong order, I think I will never return to the restaurant again. The menu was made in such a way that the restaurant can charge differently without telling in advance. This is not fair and most of all, where on earth Seafood Noodle has red meat in it??? Very unprofessional and whoever make an order, please be really careful about the grey area. Not coming back and will never recommend this restaurant at all. Another thing is that, this was our first order, and their website said that you can get 15% off for your first order. However, we never know this until I searched the internet.....and they never gave us any! No goodwill nor interested in getting a long term business at all.

We had a group booking of 13 for dinner to celebrate my mum's birthday and the food was amazing . Great flavour, their dishes had great portion sizes and the service was fabulous service. Best satay chicken skewers i've ever had The food is not heavy at all and so delicious that we have definitely found our new favourite spot for Thai. Well done Youa and Lee

Had dinner here. The meals we ordered, was well presented. Portions is well measured. Price range is affordable. Our waiter was polite and friendly. The environment is calm and relaxing. A big thumbs up to the "traditional fried ice cream". I have to say it was the best one I ever had. the coating was not thick nor too thin,it was just right on the spot, but the caramel sauce was a winner! If you ever wanted to have a decent Thai food for dinner in Liverpool. Thai essence is the go. Cheers.

Went there for first time on Saturday at lunch time with my wife. Suprised by all the space there was and the atmosphere. Really welcoming. We were served by a wonderful woman there, who if I'm not mistaken was the owner? Was really polite and kind to us. Took us some time to decide what to order, and there was a lot to choose from on the menu. We finally decided to have the Chilli Beef Stir Fry, Chicken Pad Thai, Papaya Salad and a side of Jasmine Rice and 2 Watermelon Smoothies. The food was amazing, fresh and was great just being able to talk and hear the person you're sitting with. Not loud at all and just a wonderful experience overall. Will definitely be back.

Food was delicious and fresh , staff was lovely and friendly, restaurant was clean and presented well , only issue was all of our meals didn't come out at the same time , service needs to be quicker , the kids finished there meals and the adults were still waiting nearly 30 min for our main dish , felt like u guys needed more staff on the floor , we had to ask for our soft drinks cause u forgot to give it to us , but overall was very nice , will come again

Order Team lunch from work. Called 12:10pm and advised we will be picking 12:45. They were meant to drop off food but no one showed up. So I went to the restaurant and she advised they haven't even started cooking. Advised it will be ready in 15mins.<br/>30 mins later we received our food.<br/><br/>The whole team missed lunch.<br/><br/>Employee was not apologetic at all. I told her we wont be ordering from here again and explained that the least she could of done was given us a call to advise of the delay.<br/><br/>She just said okay.

Best Thai in the area. underrated!!!

Been here twice, the outside seating area is nice during the warm season, the interior design is amazing, the staff were friendly and the food i ordered was superb (pad see ew). Thank you :)

Very disconnected staff. No one is bothered when one enters the place. The restaurant was empty at lunch time.<br/>Coming to the food. We ordered one pad thai and one rice with red curry combination style. The pad thai was good. The rice had a few uncooked grains in between, while the curry wasn't as thick as it should be. It also lacked flavour. The meat was so chewy. It didn't really do any good for my taste buds. The fried ice cream was good.<br/>Over all i wouldn't be excited to revisit.

Very average and forgettable.  The decor of the restaurant makes it seem fancier than it really is, and the prices while not astronomical are certainly on the high end.<br/><br/>The variety of entrees we had as a group consisted of spring rolls, chicken skewers, prawn crackers (lots of them), and curry puffs. None stood out anymore than what you can buy from the frozen section at the supermarket. Then came the fried rice and noodles which were slightly better but just on par with the average takeaway. <br/><br/>The night finished with a range of curries but strangely they were not served with any rice, so it left many of us puzzled on how exactly they were supposed to be eaten.

Food was fresh and delicious! We had a groupon. We ordered the Pad kee mao pork and beef, beef chilli basil and garlic stir fry and chicken Panang curry which were all fantastic - pad kee mao was spicy as requested. The spring rolls and fried chicken was great. Good value with coupon. Only downside was slow service, there was only 1 waiter and it got busy.

Hello to the readers.<br/>Let me paint you my experience. The establishment is well kept, was clean and the service was pleasant. The menu was very similar to any other thai restaurant however the prices were very much on the expensive side but that didnt bother me it only made me more keen to try there food as I assume that this may be because they put alot of attention to quality and not quantity. We ordered alot of dishes accumulating $200 worth. 1st dish we had was called "duck pancake" a poor play on the peking duck dish you get at chinese restaurants. You get served 3 duck pancakes the size of cigars the flavour was mediocre. 2nd dish lao pork sausage was disappointing if they are buying these in i hope they return them cause there was way too much rice in the sausages. 3rd dish soft shell crab with mango salad this was one of my favourite dishes. The batter used was light and crunchy. The mango salad dressing was on point. 4th dish ox tongue ok this was well and truly the worse dish i have ever had been served......for those of you who have never tried ox tongue please do not try it here. They need to prep it correctly by cleaning it thoroughly and marinating it enough. What ever they served us was Very disgusting! In terms of texture and taste. 5th n 6th dishes pad see ew and fried rice was good kinda like any other place but the rice maybe a tad overly done. 7th dish clams in chilli jam taste was good but abit too salty overall ok. 8th dish tomyum soup 100% certain this was definitely instant LOL if your not gunna make it from scratch please use more flavouring as it was bland and fresh seafood or at least seafood that hasnt turned into leather. 9th dish roast pork belly with vegies. Now alot of people would say you cant go wrong with roast pork belly dishes but at this place y'all be best to not order this one. It was hella dry and hard and not in the good way. Not sure how many times the roast pork was cooked but it looked like it took a long bath in hot oil. 10th dish a sizzling wagyu dish lol this was a hefty 30bux and generally a wagyu dish is expensive but good however this dish was a joke the wagyu did not taste juicy and tender. The cut was super dry and overly cooked not to mention 5pieces or so were hiding under a pile load of bean sprout. Lastly I had a glass of moscato and it tasted flat like the bottle had been open for weeks.<br/>LOL if the staff at the restaurant read this review entirely I thank you for taking the time to do so. You have a really nice establishment dont let it go to waste! Your food could use some life and prices abit of a tweak. For those who are potential customers try it out and see for yourself as everyone is different. Who knows they may of changed and improved if not then well there is always canley or cabra.<br/>Thanks for reading toodles :)

DO NOT ORDER THEIR OX TONGUE.<br/>SMELLY.<br/>UNDER SEASONED.<br/>WAS NOT CLEANED PROPERLY.<br/>Basically inedible. <br/><br/>Their "wagyu" was literally 5 tiny pcs of rump on a sizzling plate hiding under some bean sprouts.<br/>"Roast" pork belly was actually deep fried to the point where if you had thrown it at someone's head, it'd hurt them. <br/>"Seafood" tom yum soup tasted like it came out of Mama noodle's instant powder. The seafood they used were OLD and just downright nasty. Esp the 'fish'. It tasted like leather from 1915.<br/><br/>$199 between 3 girls. I AM NEVER COMING BACK HERE AND WOULD NOT RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE!

First and last time dining here.<br/>My girlfriends and I waited for 45 minutes for our first dish to come out.<br/>I had the Red Lotus Cocktail in a small glass - pretty tasty but the downfall was, it wasn't worth $12 compared to the $5 glass of Moscato my friend ordered which was soooo flat btw. <br/>It was like the bottle had been opened weeks ago.<br/>The food was disappointing.<br/>The only dish I enjoyed was the Soft Shell Crab with Green Mango Salad.<br/>The dish I enjoyed the least was the Grilled Ox Tongue - it was so bad, I kept having shivers every time I thought about it, we had to send it back to the kitchen and they did not even take this horrible dish off our receipt.<br/>It had a real strong smell to it, like as if it wasn't cleaned properly, sitting in the fridge for a long time with no marinate - texture was chalky, why?!<br/>The Seafood Tom Yum Soup tasted like instant soup.<br/>The seafood in there smelt very fishy, the fish pieces looked over cooked and rubbery, I actually thought it was squid until my friend corrected me.<br/>We ordered the Roast Pork with Veggies in Chilli Basil Sauce - in all honesty, the pork pieces were way over cooked and rock hard.<br/>The most expensive dish we had was the Wagyu Beef in Sizzling Pan - This was over cooked, dry and tasteless, what a waste of good meat and also a waste of money.<br/>Overall, the experience was pretty awful, I wouldn't recommend coming here, there's nothing worse than paying for an expensive dinner and not feeling satisfied after!<br/>1.5/5 is me being generous!

Had dinner here with a gf. Service was good. Ambience was great, food was good, however I’m marking it down as their curry came out in a plate and not a serving dish and it was a very small serving size. Overall the serving sizes of the curries are disappointing and they don’t seem to acknowledge that. Sadly that has affected me ever returning to the restaurant.

We have been here a few times now and we have been treated very well service wise. It's kid friendly and they provide kid friendly plates and spoons and cups. The food is nice, portions are okay. Could be bigger for the price but they taste nice. Honestly i couldn't fault it... and that's rare because I'm a whinger :p<br/><br/>I went back recently and I still thought the food tasted good. I agree with other comments that the curry is not as thick as other places but I don't like the curry too creamy. Also the stir fry veg was sweet and salty which was not really to.my preference but it still tasted good. Maybe the quality has gone down a little since last time but it's still okay. The meat for the kids menu was also on the sweet side but tasty. The soft serve come wasn't soft serve but regular ice cream. Place was clean and tidy.

This place is delicious! I've eaten a lot of Thai, and this is up there with the best. Would highly recommend the fried soft shell crab and larb salad. Even the fried rice is amazing! <br/><br/>The staff are delightful, so friendly and welcoming.
